Chapter 2:

Cave gave Professor Quadwrangle a tour of the facility and brought him to the main lab that Dr. Rattman worked out of. "This is one of my top eggheads, Doctor Doug Rattmann. He has come up with some of the best inventions and you will be working very closely with him. I have to get back to my office but I will leave you to get settled in. Caroline will meet up with you later today with a key card that will grant you access to every nook and cranny of this place. Enjoy," Cave said before turning around and heading back to his office.

"It's a pleasure to meet you, Dr. Rattmann, I am Professor Quadwrangle. It's a pleasure to be here and I cannot wait to get started!" The Professor exclaimed.

"I'm very surprised Mr. Johnson is allowing you to work here due to his belief that everyone outside of Aperture Laboratories works for Black Mesa but it's a pleasure to have you, Professor, I'm a fan of you and your family's work," Doug said shaking his hand.

"May I ask what you are currently working on?" The Professor said, eyeing the apparatus sitting on the table.

"This is my most prized invention, The Portal Gun!" Doug said, excitedly.

"I've heard a little bit about this technology but I never imagined it would look like this! You must show me how it works! I'm very curious!"

The two men spent the next few hours demonstrating their inventions and discussing ways to improve each others' work. Professor Quadwrangle grew quite fond of Doctor Rattmann and knew he made a very wise decision to form a partnership with Aperture Laboratories. In order for his project to get to where he wanted it to be, he needed the access of a much larger facility than his lab at home and this place would be absolutely perfect.

After a few hours, it was time for everyone to head out for the night. Doug walked with the Professor to see Caroline and get his key card. "Here you are, Professor Quadwrangle," Caroline said cheerily as she handed the card to the Professor. They said their goodbyes to Caroline and the two of them walked out to the parking garage together.

"It will be an absolute pleasure to work with you," Doug said to him.

"You as well, Dr. Rattmann. I think you and I will be able to create something magnificent. We are the perfect team," the Professor said with a smile. The two men said their goodbyes and the Professor headed back to his mansion for the night.
