She half expected the room to be dusty; not so... clean.

Yet there was nothing old about this room, save for some of the books that gleamed on the new bookshelves that Gajeel had recently built. Quietly she surveyed the room, her eyes greedily taking in each minute detail as the Slayer waited at the door, squirming in agitation. At first, she hadn't known why he invited her over, actually taking her aside and whispering in a hurried fashion about a surprise.

She was curious, more so when he added that she might find it interesting. He seemed nervous for some reason, and she bit back a laugh in order not to tease him and make him retract the invitation. So, she followed him home, resisting the urge to pepper him with questions he'd undoubtedly ignore. But she couldn't help the shiver of anticipation as his house finally appeared, teasing her with his secret.

Once they finally arrived, he merely opened the door and let her in, pointing out the room in question. Nearly bursting with excited energy, she almost skipped to the room, oblivious to him following her through the house.

She hadn't noticed the blush on his face when she twirled on her toes, nor the nervous gulp as she got closer to the door. Or how his hands clenched when she grasped the door handle and pushed it open, blinking as light spilled out of the crack. His house was normally dark and dim, something that he had enjoyed in the past. Well, dwelled in, to be more accurate.

But since meeting the blue haired mage, his life began looking a little less dim, especially once he began opening up to her. Every time she looked at him, it seemed like there was a little sun in her smile, blinding him and sending his heart tripping against his ribcage.

He had wanted to do something for her. Something that would light her smile brighter than any star in the sky. So, he built a bookcase for books.

Actually, he built a lot of bookcases.

And filled them all with books.

He hoped she liked them.

Her gasp of wonder filled his ears, grabbing his attention as he watched her spin, taking in the room in all its glory. Warmth filled his cheeks as her eyes glittered, and a grin of happiness pulling at her lips.

"Is this what you had in mind?" She asked, her voice soft. She turned to him, fixing her gaze on him. He jolted, blushing that as she cocked her head at him. His blood thrummed in his ears, and he nodded awkwardly, rubbing his nose as he looked at his handiwork. It was a feat he was proud of, and that this adorable girl liked it so much made it more than worth it.

"If yeh want, this place will be open to ya whenever," he muttered. She blinked, then giggled happily.

"Whenever?" She asked, mischief flashing in her eyes. "Are you sure about that?"

He glanced at her, wondering if he should ignore the niggle of suspicion in the back of his mind. "Yeah," he said finally, crossing his arms over his chest. "Just, don't make too much of a noise, or leave the light on all night..." He trailed off, suddenly hating himself for sounding stupid.

She giggled, clapping her hand over her mouth before launching herself at the embarrassed man. "I can't believe you built me a library," she laughed, freezing him in his spot as she squeezed his torso. She beamed at him, leaning her head back to gaze at his stunned face. "I absolutely love it."

He could feel his body loosen, becoming warm again as he basked in her brilliancy. Though the rest of his house was dark and dim, something told him that he'd be spending a lot of time in the library with the script mage. No, his script mage.

And he'd have nothing else, either.
