Dyson and tamsin rounded the corner leading to the Crack-Shack, settling in a down trodden parking spot. The place really wasn't really a looker, but it fit Kenzi and Bo's lifestyle. Dyson and Tamsin definitely weren't the type to have lavish living spaces, but they were always on the move. They'd lived long enough to know nothing was ever permanent.
"Are they ready yet?" Dyson groaned. "I'm excited to do something other than work, drink, eat, and sleep."
Tamsin looked down at her phone and let her head fall against the head rest.
"Kenzi said fifteen minutes... fifteen minutes ago. But we knew this was coming. Hence, being here early." She smirked.
Finally, the two women made an appearance. From what they could see, Kenzi was currently sticking her tongue out at Bo, who rolled her eyes for probably the 17th time in the span of a minute. Dyson and Tamsin made eye contact, both holding back laughter.
"Well, that's how the cookie crumbles, BoBo! It was either the monster truck thong or bust!" Kenzi said exasperatedly, sliding into the back seat behind Dyson. "It's comfortable believe it or not..."
"I won't argue with you there, but if I were up against that and something comfortable for home wear,-" Bo started.
"As appealing as it is to hear about Kenzi's thongs, can we get going?" Tamsin chimed in, turning to eye them both.
Neither of them responded, realizing that they were in the presence of others. Kenzi flushed a deep red, sinking into her seat and Bo simply cleared her throat loudly. They looked at one another, gesturing silently about resuming the conversation at another time. Tamsin simply smiled, while Dyson snickered, eyeing the rearview mirror.
"You are such a tool..." Tamsin said to Dyson, punching his arm. "Drive."
"You got it, Boss lady." Dyson nodded curtly.
After a couple hours at the car dealership, Tamsin finally found something she liked. It was a 2007 Dodge pickup in black. It was nothing fancy, which she liked, and at a fair price. Dyson was just glad she hadn't picked something older. Bo and Kenzi looked bored to death, sitting in chairs across the way.
"Here I thought this would be a nice date or something. This isn't the way I wanted to go." Kenzi cried, clutching onto Bo's arm. "I'm too young to go now... today, of all days!"
"You have a point. You could've choked on all the splinters you had in your hair, but this is what will do you in." Bo humored her friend/sister.
"Oh, cruel world!" Kenzi said, slumping exaggeratedly, pretending to die with her tongue out.
"To think, you didn't even get laid yet..." Bo teased.
Kenzi opened one eye towards Bo. "I may live a while longer, now that you mention it...
Bo laughed at that, patting Kenzi's hand. Tamsin finally got up on the other side of the room, shaking hands with the salesman. When she turned around, she swung the keys from her fingertips with an excited smile, as she walked across the room. Kenzi sat up at that, smiling back at her.
"I don't think I've seen a smile that big on your face, ever." Kenzi said. "It looks good on you."
"Debatable." Tamsin said, scratching her chin. "I smile like that whenever I'm around you."
"Dyson!" Bo said, pretending she didn't hear anything as she walked away. "Oh, Dyson!"
"So, the big, bad detective has her job and her truck back..." Kenzi said, twirling a piece of her hair. "Will you let me drive it?"
"Depends." Tamsin smiled, sitting down and leaning into Kenzi's breathing room. "Can you drive?"
"Pfft! I- uh. Of course. I-I wouldn't say I'm the best driver, but y-yeah." Kenzi stuttered out.
"Well, maybe I can give you a few pointers..." Tamsin said, leaning in closer.
Kenzi was near hyperventilation now. She could smell the pine and lavender radiating from Tamsin's body. It was the strangest, but most soothing scent she'd ever encountered. Now was not one of those times. Now, she just wanted Tamsin to close the distance. The anticipation was sickening and she knew the Valkyrie loved to tease. That hadn't change at all. She was a bundle of nerves, waiting patiently to be unbound. Tamsin, on the other hand, was enjoying the sight of making Kenzi squirm. Her crystalline eyes were glued to sea green, mere inches apart, neither making a move to close the distance. The Valkyrie smiled at that, unmoving. Kenzi bit her lip in return, nearly bursting at the seams. There was no reason she couldn't close the distance, right here and now... But they had only kissed in private. Maybe it was just nerves or the fact that if she kissed her here and now, it would make it real... Something Kenzi still had a bit of a hard time believing. Tamsin could sense her doubt and so she opted to close the distance, placing a soft kiss at the corner of Kenzi's mouth. The younger woman shivered at the contact, almost pulling Tamsin in for more, but she restrained herself. Her eyes closed, revelling in the feeling. It was a reassurance, telling her that she didn't have to worry. She didn't have to be nervous or insecure around the Valkyrie.
"Yes, you can drive." Tamsin said finally, breaking the tension, and handing her the keys. "You're cute when you're nervous, by the way..."
"You're going to be the death of me, Tamsin." Kenzi whimpered, getting up from her seat and making her way towards the door.
Tamsin followed behind, watching Kenzi walk away in her high heeled boots, a smug smile plastered across her face. In the waiting area, Dyson and Bo were snacking on the muffins there. Tamsin made eye contact with them for a brief second, letting them know they were all set.
"These things are so good," Dyson mumbled, his mouth full of a blueberry muffin. "But they make me feel so bad!"
Nonetheless, they made their way out, but not before Dyson stashed another muffin in his pocket.
"So good..." He mumbled.
A/N: This was the easiest chapter to write, by far. The name of the chapter is from a song by Young the Giant, which heavily inspired this chapter. Take a listen. If ya'll are still with me and you enjoyed, leave a review! I may drop another chapter in a couple hours. Thanks!
