{Chapter Five}

Jess smiled at his uncle and Lorelai as he opened the door to his room at the Inn before moving aside to let them in. He knew that they were getting nervous about how he would act, it had taken him three days to get his head together over the shock. He had read the book twice since then each time more carefully. He even added notes to the margins of the books of his own thoughts. He knew what he wanted to do, what he needed to do without any doubt.

"I am guessing you are here to talk" Jess said seriously seeing them before him

"Jess this is serious. Rory can't take any more heart and frankly neither can you. After all this time both of you are still madly in love with each other and deserve to give each other a chance, a real chance to be together" Luke said seriously while Jess nodded in understanding "But you can't hurt her"

"If you want her then go get her but I will kill you if you hurt her and my granddaughter" Lorelai said leaning up against Luke looking at him seriously pleading with him to understand

"Everything I ever wanted her to say is in this book and more. I have spent 10 years trying to get over her and nothing has ever worked. I will not hurt her or Grace" He said softly eyes shining with honesty as he held the book that meant the world to him

"Then go get the girl" Sookie said excitedly coming into the room with a bright smile looking at him "Go get her and don't walk away this time"

Jess smiled shaking his head at how crazy this town was but for Rory he would tolerate it. He knew that they were a package deal, it wasn't something that he couldn't get used to. At least it was entertaining, and he would be near his uncle as well.

"I wasn't planning on it" Jess said sincerely offering a smile showing that he was happy at finally having the chance

Luke smiled proudly at his nephew knowing he had grown up so much from the punk in high school that drove him and everyone else insane.

"I will take you to her house" Luke stated getting out his keys quickly ready to go and get this over with

Jess nodded with a smile before looking at Lorelai "Thank you so much for calling me and making me read the book. For making me meet Gracie before I finished the book" Jess said honestly taking her by surprise and she grinned brightly after a few moments

"And for watching her tonight while Rory is home alone" Lorelai stated proudly "I figure that you two could use time alone to talk"

Jess shook his head in disbelief following Luke quickly "I never would have expected this from Lorelai" He muttered to his uncle

Luke smiled opening his truck door "She just wants the best for Rory and Gracie" Luke said honestly before looking at him seriously "We all do, we want the best for all of you"

Jess nodded in understanding getting in the truck while Luke took off towards Rory's house. Jess looked at his uncle "Thank you Uncle Luke" He said meaning so much more then just driving him here

Luke glanced at him as he pulled onto Rory's street "Just don't screw this up" Luke said seriously

"I wouldn't dream of it" Jess said with a smile as Luke stopped the truck

Luke pointed to the house "This is their home, don't hurt her" Luke said adding a stern stare to convey that he would kill his own nephew over that

"I wouldn't dream of it" Jess said seriously getting out of the truck with the book in hand preparing for what was about to come

Luke rolled down the window of his truck looking at him "Remember she needs time to react and recover from the shook of things" Luke said seriously before rolling up the window again

Jess nodded in understanding as Luke pulled away and Jess watched until he couldn't see his truck anymore. Jess turned taking in the sight of the house, he could picture it. He could picture him coming home from a long day of work or a meeting out of town to his family here. He could see them sitting on the porch swing with her hand in his lap while he read a book listening to the sounds of a child laughing while playing in this yard. He could picture it all with her.

After a few moments, Jess shook his head in amusement taking a deep breath overwhelm by the feelings of seeing this place and see the possibility of a future. He stood tall and straightened before approaching the door. He allowed several moments to go over everything he needed to say again before knocking softly. He took another breath hearing her voice and the sounds of her approach.

After what felt let an eternity, she opened the door in a blue sundress that matched her eyes and took his breath away. The way the setting sun place a glow around her through the windows behind her, she was his angel. She always had been. He looked her over taking in everything that was so Rory, how he lasted six years without seeing her amazed him. He suddenly remembered the overwhelming feeling of home that appeared whenever she was near. She was his everything.

Rory stared wide eyed at him trying to remember to breath. She was imagining him on her door step like she had dreamed about for so long. She could feel the tears coming to her eyes at him as she looked him over. She had to have fallen asleep and was dreaming.

"Jess" She whispered thickly looking at the man she loved with everything in her

Jess snapped out of his trance the moment he heard her whisper his name and forgot everything he wanted to say in the moment. He moved forward pressing his lips to hers wrapping his arms around her tightly. Rory closed her eyes deepening the kiss wrapping her arms around his neck feeling fully alive for the first time in years. They both stood in their world sharing a passionate kiss.

Rory felt tears pour from her eyes as the passion sweep through her body and the love pour out of her into a kiss. Jess heart beat fastened, and he held her tighter as the emotions become overwhelming causing a few tears to fall his eyes. They stopped kissing when they need air leaving both panting attempting to gather oxygen.

Rory looked at him with misty eyes placing a hand on his face whispering "I love you Jess"

Jess closed his eyes hearing those words from her trying to relax his frantic heartbeat. Warmth spread throughout his entire body at the words, he had read them but hearing them was something amazing. He felt complete and took a breath to steady himself as he opened his eyes staring into hers. He wiped away the tears from her face and allowed a smile on his face.

"I have waited ten years to hear those words. I love you too Rory" He said before leaning forward and capturing her lips again kissing her gently

He poured ever single once of love he felt for her into the gentle kiss. It was overwhelming and completing love between the two of them. It held them so completely that neither one of them stood a chance with someone else, they were fated for each other. He longed for this for so long and only broke the kiss when they both needed to breath.

Rory was panting as she looks at Jess finally coming out of the trance from the overwhelming emotions she just felt. She never felt like this before, it was so different. She looked him over stopping on his eyes and reached out a shaky hand touching his face. She knew that this just wasn't like the other dreams.

"This isn't just a dream is it?" Rory asked in confusion and awe taking in the warmth of his skin under her hand

Jess chuckled softly at the adorable look that she was giving him. He shook his head turning grabbing her hand and kissing the palm of it gently. He watched allowing Rory time as she stared at him for some time. He knew that he had taken her by surprise and could see every single emotion clearly running through her head.

After several moments, Rory took a deep breath and kissed him again pulling back a minute later looking him in the eyes. She was awe by the emotion she saw shining so clearly just for her. She knew this wasn't a dream.

"I love you so much Jess I am sorry I never told before" Rory whispered honestly causing Jess to smile at her, it was a breath-taking sight and she fell even more in love with him.

"I have always and will always love you Rory" Jess said in complete honesty with love clearly showing in his eyes as he stared at her

Rory blushed and smiled absorbing the words that warmed her heart. How had she lived so long without him? After several moments she looked at him waiting patiently for her. She shook her head clear of the fog realizing that he was still on the porch.

"Would you like to come in?" She questioned in a whispered and Jess smiled at her

"Yes" He said in relief repeating to himself to stay calm and take things slow, they had a lot to talk about

"Okay" Rory said stepping to the side taking a deep breath to steady herself as he stepped in

She closed the door and lead him to the living room feeling overwhelmed by everything. She motioned for him to sit and sat down on the loveseat. Jess nodded taking a seat knowing that she needed time for everything to sink in. He just had to make on thing very clear now.

"The ending to the book needs to be re-written" Jess said seriously showing her the book she had written

"How did you get that?" Rory stared at him confused for a second then looked at the book in his hand "Why?"

"I am not leaving Gilmore" Jess said seriously as Rory "I read this book cover to cover, every word. Not once but three times. My life is not complete without you and I refuse to allow you to give up of us. Give us a chance and I promise to not let you down. Now before you argue or think of ways this is bad, show me your kitchen. We will have coffee and I will cook dinner for us. We will sit down and eat to talk everything through"
