A/N: It has been far too long since this story has seen the light of day. And with so much having changed in the MCU since its founding I figured that it was time to dust it off and put it back out there.
When I put this in the 'Completed' section I considered staring another one, but I figured it would be easier to just keep this one going for a bit longer before I decided to start a 'sequel'. And those of you who are fans of this work have waited far too long to wait another moment.
So, without any further interruption...
(I own nothing)
It was early morning, the sun rising over the ocean casting golden light along the waves as they lazily crashed together. The massive ball of energy continued to rise until it covered a large, and exotic mansion that was situated at the top of a cliff that faced the ocean.
Within the walls of the beautiful structure, in one of the many rooms contained within, the sun shined through a large bay window. The light shining on a king sized bed where a young woman with strawberry-blonde hair was still blissfully asleep.
When the sun's light managed to hit her closed eyes, she flinched a moment before opening them to reveal a pair of bright green orbs that quickly focused to the new day that had come.
Carrie yawned as she sat up to stretch, the bed very comfortable to the point where she wanted to just curl back up and sleep for a little longer. But the lack of a body to her right gave her pause as she looked over to the empty space beside her.
"Good morning, Miss. White. I trust that you slept well?" asked the synthesized voice from somewhere within the home.
"I did, Jarvis. Thank you." she replied kindly as she removed the covers and got out of bed dressed in a white nightgown. Her eyes briefly pausing on a framed picture on the bedside table, one depicting herself and Nathan on prom night back in Champerlain.
The two of them, wearing their respected crowns as king and queen and smiling at the camera as Carrie leaned into the young Stark who had his hands wrapped comfortably around her from behind.
It had been a little over five months since she left Chamberlain behind her, and in that time she had adapted well to life in Malibu. Things had been different and awkward at first, but soon she embraced the new stage of her life with open arms and an open mind.
She'd been nervous after she and Nathan took the private jet that was waiting for them to the young Stark's home. After spending her whole life in the small town in Maine, she always wondered about the rest of the world, and now she was really experiencing it for the first time.
California was beautiful. The sun was almost always shining, the views were breathtaking, and the people were very different than what she was used to. It was all overwhelming to Carrie at first, especially when she saw the large home Nathan lived in with his father.
The mansion was bigger than anything she was expecting, her old home could fit in the living room alone. And it sat on a high cliff that gave a gorgeous view of the ocean.
Given the size of the building, over a dozen could live here comfortably with still plenty of room to spare. And with how expensive everything looked she had been afraid to touch anything in fear of breaking it. Though Nathan was quick to put her fears to rest saying that everything was fine as he gave her the tour of his home.
When he introduced Jarvis she had been stunned beyond words, who wouldn't be when you heard a voice coming from seemingly everywhere. Though after a quick introduction the telekinetic slowly started to become less tense around the AI.
But nothing compared to meeting Nathan's father for the first time.
Tony Stark was every bit the colorful eccentric his son told her about. She could definitely tell where Nathan got most of his personality from, and his sense of humor. But he made her feel right at home and told her not to hesitate if she needed anything.
Then there was Pepper Potts, Tony's assistant and the woman Nathan considered like a mother. She reminded Carrie of Rita, warm and inviting, but was very strong in order to handle her job which involved helping her boss with anything he needed. Along with making sure he stayed out of trouble.
And considering the stories she had been told, the woman was a saint for putting up with so much for so long.
The telekinetic felt more welcome in this new place then she ever had back home. Everyone was nice to her and treated her better than anyone ever had back in Chamberlain. She warmed up quickly thanks to her new boyfriend and his family, though there had been a small issue in the beginning.
Carrie had been grateful for her new room, which had been several times larger than her old one and came with its own bathroom, but it felt so...empty. On the first night in her new home, she just couldn't get comfortable in bed despite how soft it was. It didn't feel right.
After hours of trying she had gotten out of bed and ventured to Nathan's room, which was only a door or two down from hers, and climbed into bed with him. She still felt at her safest when she was in his arms at night, and he didn't mind at all which prompted her to move into his room a few days later instead of having her own.
Holding out her hand, the closet door on the other side of the room opened by itself and a white robe levitated out of it into her waiting palm. "Where's Nathan?" she asked as she put the article on over her night wear.
"He is currently in the workshop performing upgrades on his armor. Would you like me to inform him that you are awake?" asked the AI.
She shook her head and smiled when she finished tying the belt of the robe around her thin waist, "No, I'll just go down and surprise him." she replied before leaving the bedroom and making her way down the hallway toward the stairs.
As she stepped down to the first level of the large home, the telekinetic thought about her evolving relationship with the Stark heir with a blush on her cheeks.
He'd taken her around the state to see the many sights and places, as well as taking her on several dates that included going to beaches to enjoy the sun or restaurants that she never dreamed of going to.
Even if Nathan had all the money in the world, he still left the direction of their relationship up to her. They still hadn't done anything in the sexual nature, Carrie still having her reservations about it given her upbringing. Though they had started getting a bit more physical when they were alone together, which brought her out of her reservations little by little.
Tony would often tell them that he still wasn't ready to be a grandpa yet, which prompted both teens to feel embarrassed, or in Nathan's case near murderous as he tried to strangle his father each time.
Continuing down into the basement level of the mansion, she stopped in front of the reinforced glass door that led into the workshop Nathan and Tony frequented everyday. A holographic display appearing on the clear wall beside it allowing her to punch in the code from memory, the door unlocking as she stepped inside hearing music playing from the far corner where Nathan could be seen at a table with several tools scattered around him.
His armor was standing beside him with the arms missing, the components held in braces on the table while he worked on them with deep concentration and precision. Oblivious to the world around him as he focused on what was before him.
Carrie stepped closer, her bare footsteps all but silent as she crossed the workshop and stood a few feet behind him smiling. Seeing him set down the small torch he had been using, he blindly reached for a screw driver on his left.
The telekinetic raised her hand, her powers extending outward and gently moving the tool out of his reach causing his fingers to hit the table. Looking up, he shook his head before grabbing the driver and going back to his task.
Smile spreading, the strawberry-blonde extended her abilities again making several of the tools slowly slide out of his reach making him perk up again when he reached for a pair of pliers.
Looking across the table a moment, he slowly removed the protective goggles from his eyes with a small grin. "Either the lord almighty is telling me I'm working too hard, or my beautiful girlfriend is trying to get my goat."
Carrie giggled as she stepped closer, Nathan turning around and wrapping his arms around her and bringing her into a kiss. "Morning, angel." he said using the nickname he had given her since he brought her to Malibu. "When did you wake up?"
"A little while ago." she replied just as a soft chirping noise could be heard to the side. The couple looking to see one of Tony's helper bots sitting there with a small tray and two glasses of orange juice sitting on it. "Thank you, DUM-E." the telekinetic said smiling while petting the robot on its arm making it chirp again before wheeling away.
"She insisted on surprising you this morning, Nathan." reported Jarvis.
"It's all good, Jarvis. Thanks." said the Stark heir as he took a sip from his glass. "Anything on the agenda today that I may have forgotten?"
"Your father and Ms. Potts are hoping you'll assist in the final touches for the opening of the Stark Expo next week. A few more adjustments are required before everything is in place." replied the AI.
The Stark Expo was something Howard Stark had started long ago when Tony was a child. It was an event being held in Flushing, New York went a whole year where people from all over could come and show off their inventions, ideas and smarts to the people at large for either glory or to garner the attention of people willing to fund their projects or businesses.
And now Nathan's father was bringing it back in the hopes of making it into something more. The young heir had a strong belief that it was his dad's way of outdoing his grandfather's work.
"Feel up for a trip to New York?" Nathan asked the telekinetic.
Carrie smiled up at him, "Do you even have to ask?"
The young Stark grinned back, "Jarvis, tell dad and Pep Carrie and I will catch the first flight out tomorrow." without warning he scooped his girlfriend up in his arms, making her yelp as he carried her out of the workshop and up the stairs, "Today I intend on spending with this lovely angel."
Giggling, the telekinetic wrapped her arms around her boyfriend's neck. Her life had certainly changed for the better for Carrie, and nothing would take that away from her...

In the heart of Russia, Ivan Vanko sat in the dark room of his home that had become his workshop. The only sounds being of an old tv on the far end of the bench he was sitting at and his pet bird that sat on a perch not too far away.
Ever since his father Anton had passed he had been hard at work on the plans the man had given him. The plans for a miniature Arc Reactor.
When the power source was completed, the Russian began assembling the next part of his project.
The Starks had robbed the Vankos, taken what was theirs and used it for their own gain while casting them out like they were trash. To be forgotten while Howard's legacy got the notoriety that they had stolen from Ivan's family.
But all of that will change. Tony Stark will pay for the sins committed by his father, and his legacy will be left as nothing more than a smear in the history books.
Making a few adjustments to the harness before him, the arc reactor in the center hummed loudly to life, energy coursing through the apparatus making Ivan grin as he picked it up and strapped it on.
When he was sure that everything was in place, he held out his hands that gripped the handles to the long, whip-like extensions on the end. Power coursing through them and causing them to glow and electricity to crackle along the insulated alloy.
Rolling his shoulders, Ivan slashed one of the electrified whips and cleaved the television in half like a hot knife through butter.
Grin widening, the Russian inventor turned to the wall behind his workbench that was covered in magazine and newspaper clippings depicting Tony Stark and his son Nathan.
Their time was coming to an end, he wasn't going to simply destroy the Stark name;
He was going to wipe the man's legacy off the face of the Earth.

Because our favorite couple will become immersed in something that will soon change not only their lives, but the whole world around them as well.
