Albus' POV.

Letters to My Brown Eyed Beauty

Chapter Twelve

It's been two weeks since that Defence Against the Dark Arts lesson and Scorpius refuses to meet anybody's eyes. Albus' dad had erased the class' mind for better peace of mind for Scorpius. Albus thought that was nice. Harry had asked to take the memory away from the boys as well but Bryson had protested.

"What? Mr Potter, you can't do that to us!"

Spencer had looked so sad at Scorpius, "You wouldn't erase our memories, would you?"

Albus had pleaded with Scorpius as well, saying that they needed to keep it so they could keep him safe for future reference. Their friendship had bloomed in the passed two weeks and it was all because they shared the same common secret: Scorpius' mother was a terrible person.

"At least let Albus keep it," Tray had reminded Scorpius that those two had been best friends since First Year. Their bond was strong and needed to live without secrets in order to stay strong.

Albus had protested saying that it was better that they all knew this way. More eyes on Scorpius, to keep him safe. Everybody believed that Albus had more of a right than them to know and he couldn't believe he was friends with such immature guys.

"This information has helped us all grow closer as friends, without it, we'd just be your acquaintances, Scorpius. On a good day, might even be called a friend."

"Which is what I fear the most," Spencer stood up from his seat, bolting out of the Hospital Wing. He was taking it harder than everybody else. "Our friendship as a group is unconventional but it works. You have to let it continue working."

"Our fathers may not get along, but we've found it in our hearts to disregard prejudices. Let us keep it, Scorpius."

Tray stood up as well, "Bryce and Tor have been inseparable since they were newborns. They've always known they could count on each other. But the rest of us? We just sort of float around. Mycale's family was from America, his parents don't even associate with ours, the same with Tate's German parents. We are too much of a shame to the Wizarding world. We are all outsiders and that's why we work well as friends."

"My mother was from London and my father loved her, so he compromised, and we moved. I got my letter that following year and my parents were so proud of me," Tate added, feeling a little nostalgic.

"If we don't stick together, Scorp, we'll drift away and spend most lunches alone. Like we do most days. I want this secret to be the reason we always have each other's backs, and never question why our friendships weren't that solid before."

Scorpius chuckled, "Everybody stop. Why would I ever erase your memories? I wanted you guys to learn of it a better way but I'm glad its out in the open now. I trust you all with my darkest secret, don't make me regret it."

Scorpius wanted his friends to keep it because he could see that they were closer now too. Two weeks later and they're always seen together. It terrified the First Years to begin with, but the boys assured them they weren't planning any big pranks, just yet.

The boys found a weird sense of loyalty in each other which shocked a lot of people.

Albus remembers what the Sorting Hat said to him that night: "You'll find your true friends. The best years at Hogwarts are ahead of you."

He had never believed the Sorting Hat more than he does at this moment.

He had found an unconventional family, but he wouldn't trade it for the world.

The boys were seated on the grass near the Black Lake, joking and laughing among themselves. Amelia had said a few jokes, but the boys laughed more at her accent than the joke itself. Everything seemed really calm.

'Too calm,' a voice in the back of Albus' head said, and he shrugged it off.

He looked at Spencer and for the first time in six years, his book was closed, and he was paying more attention to the group. He had learned to come out of his shell these passed two weeks, realising the boys would have his back too one day if he needed it.

Amelia began figeting with her skirt, attempting to fix it as it had ridden a bit high. Albus couldn't help but stare at her porcelain-white thighs.

"Look the whore is trying to shorten her skirt!"

Albus' eyes instantly snapped back up at the sound of his cousin, Rose's, voice. He groaned, "Not again."

Amelia's eyes widened in offence and then softened to a sad look.

"Oi, Weasley, go pick on someone your own age!"

Scorpius growled, and he was usually nice to Rose but whenever it came to Amelia, he always picked her. It puzzled the boys.

"I bet you only like her just for the-"

"Rose," Roxanne pulled her back a bit. Molly looked horrified. Albus couldn't hide himself quicker.

Scorpius' eyes flared with anger as he stood up.

"What did you just say, Weasley," he spat. Scorpius was a lot of 'calm before the storm'. Albus knew he had to fix this before it got worse.

"Whore," Rose commented casually. Scorpius took out his wand and aimed it at her. "You better choose your words wisely. Mess with a Malfoy and you'll regret it." He looked over at Roxanne and Molly, "Choose your allegiance wisely, girls, because when one of you messes with me, and you stand by them, you all perish along with them." Scorpius sneered, turning back to Rose, his wand aimed directly at her.

Roxanne and Molly go quiet, stepping back.

Rose aimed her wand back at Scorpius, "I was just state the truth."

Albus stood up and pulled out his wand. He knew he'd never aim it at Scorpius but he was starting to wonder if he'd never aim it at his own cousin. He wasn't sure.

Amelia wasn't a whore, she was a lovely girl and Albus knew Scorpius was only protecting her dignity.

"And anyway, she wouldn't be so offended if I wasn't right."

Albus was about to aim his wand at her before Amelia cut in.

She looked oddly like Scorpius in that moment. Purple hair turned up, brown eyes fixated on their target. She looked almost deadly, but she spoke calmly.

'The calm before the storm,' swallowed Albus.

"Get your facts straight, Weasley," she started, standing with her head held up. "You don't get it, do you?" She said before sighing, shaking her head and walking off.

'She looks so sexy right now.'

Albus eyes were glued to her retreating form.

"We can't do this anymore," Molly's voice said, causing Albus to look back at her. Her voice was usually the voice of reason but today it sounded frustrated. "You've changed and not for the better," Roxanne commented.

As soon as the two walked off, everybody knew that they wouldn't be spotted near Rose for a while.

A few days passed, and Lucy and Lily kept asking Albus why Roxy and Molly weren't go anywhere near Rose. Albus would fidget and not know what to reply. Scorpius always saved the day, "You should ask them. I think they had a disagreement."

Albus sighed, his family was always fighting with someone in the family. They couldn't be drama-free for one moment. He looked down at the book he was reading, frowning. He knew that as teenagers they were all going to clash at some point. Especially when they spend so much time together.

He was sitting in the library, trying to study but all he could think about was that Rose looked so jealous of Amy.

'She would be if she found out Scorpius and Amelia had something going on.'

Albus wasn't sure but he had a feeling. They were way too close just to be 'friends'. There was something more going on and he knew it.

"So, Albus, care to explain to me why Rose is so miserable and why Molly," James Potter started before looking over at Molly, "Molly is sending her death glares not so subtly?" He looked back over at Albus with a confused look. Molly was always the calmest one of the girls. Her anger hardly ever peaked.

"What are you doing in here, James?"

"What? I can't come and ask my brother why my cousins are arguing? People talk, you know."

Albus groaned, looking away from his brother.

"Come on, it can't possibly be that bad."

James was attempting to cheer Albus up which was a rare occurrence. It wasn't working either. He'd been in an awful mood since the two girls had fought. Scorpius had disappeared, preferring to spend time with Amelia.

"James," Albus started, rolling his eyes. "If Molly, of all people, is not talking to our dear favourite cousin Rose, then there must be some reason, right?"

James nodded.

'How dense could one guy be, seriously? Can he get any stupier?'

"That's what I thought, so care to share the details?"

'The answer is yes, James Sirius Potter can be stupier.'

"They had an argument. Rose was being a bitch and-"

"Now don't go insulting our Rosie, okay."

If only looks could kill.

Albus attended dinner that night in a sour mood. He was about ready to kill Rose and James. He wondered how any of them could be related to Hermione Granger.

He sat across from Trayton, piling things onto his plate. Trayton glanced at Albus, casually waved and then returned to his discussion about Charms with Spencer.

Albus nodded back before ignoring everybody else. He just wanted to eat. He missed Spencer's small smile and when his eyebrows furrowed in concern.

Albus furrowed his own eyebrows when he heard feathers fluttering. He looked up and noticed an unknown owl perched in front of him.

"What did you get, Potter?" Bryson said, shuffling down the table to sit with the boys. He had been talking to Lorna Carrow and Tallulah Jackson. He enjoyed flirting with the girls immensely. Albus always ignored their advances. He knew people only cared for him because he was Harry Potter's child and he looked the most like him.

"A letter, obviously," Jackson commented drily, rolling her eyes. "Wow she's a real right prat," Thorssen said, "I hate fifth years."

Albus raised an eyebrow at him before shaking his head.

"Who's it from, Al?"

Bryce had started calling Albus 'Al' for a little while now and it's growing on Albus. "I'm not sure," he murmured before his eyes noticed the neat cursive writing 'Green Eyed Boy'. He smiled and took in the familiar sense of Roses. He beamed a little. His mood improved just by receiving the letter.

"Seems as if you know already," Bryson joked, winking at him. Albus nodded, "I have to go. I'll see you all later."

He headed off to the Black Lake to read it in private. Trayton fed the owl, knowing Albus would've just forgotten about it."

Albus took a seat under the tree before opening the letter. He was so excited he couldn't wait another minute.

'Dear Green Eyed Boy,

I'm sorry about the late letter. I've been fairly pre-occupied. I hope you know I thought about you the entire time. I've been thinking about what you said and I just wasn't sure how to reply at first.

Astronomy is an amazing class and I can't help but love it a lot. I love tracking stars and drawing them. I have three stars in particular I love. The second reason for my adoration of the class is that I'm named after a star.

I contemplated whether I should tell you and I think I'm finally ready:

The Lyra Star is the star I am named after.

It's not my favourite star but it's lovely nevertheless.

I'd love to learn your name,

Brown Eyed Girl.

PS. Lyra sounds funny after all these years.'

Albus' eyes widened. She had finally told him his name.

"Merlin's Beard," he gasped. "I know her name."

He didn't care that he was talking to himself. He had finally found out her name.

"Lyra," he whispered, feeling the way the name felt on his tongue. "Lyra," he repeated, a little louder before smiling. "I love it," he whispered to himself.

'Should I tell her my name now?'

Albus shook his head because he knew he'd be found out in a second. He was scared to let her know that he was Albus Severus Potter, second child of Harry Potter and Ginny Potter. He knew that their little friendship would most likely end. He didn't want to lose his first friend. He wanted it to be all his own and not because of his dad.

'Damn you dad for naming me something so uncommon.'

"Lyra," he said again before laughing. He couldn't believe after five years she finally told him her name. He fell back on the grass, feeling like a complete idiot.

Then it hit him, almost like a slap in the face.

'I don't deserve to know Scorpius' secret if I'm hiding one. I've kept Lyra from him for five years. He's going to freak it.'

Albus felt like he didn't deserve his best friends trust because he's lying to him too.

He looked over at the Black Lake, realising that this year has been a rollercoaster and it's not even over it.

Scorpius finally told everybody his secret but Albus can't bear to say his aloud.

Molly and Roxanne are ignoring Rose.

Albus knows that Christmas is going to be fun for sure: especially seeing as everybody's not talking to each other.

He didn't know yet, but those things were the least of his worries.
