A/N: I hope you all enjoy this chapter. I've added another letter as I realised not every chapter had a letter, and there was more of everything else than just the letters in them. I'm sorry about that! Hopefully this makes up for it. - El xx

Reference: SEVEN DAYS TILL WEDDING.

Scorpius Malfoy's POV.

Letters to My Brown Eyed Beauty

Chapter Twenty

Albus had been avoiding the Great Hall for two days, and every Ravenclaw known to man. Scorpius found it strangely amusing. He was avoiding his girlfriend and anything to do with her. It was Sunday afternoon and instead of spending it with Vivian, Albus was in the dormitory, hiding from everybody.

Scorpius knew exactly what was going on. He just needed to hear Albus say it.

The blonde boy had been stealing food for Albus since Friday night, bringing it back to the dorm. He wondered to himself when Albus would pluck up enough courage to just go and break up with his girlfriend. It couldn't be that hard.

Scorpius was extremely worried about Albus by this point. He was skipping meals in order to avoid everybody like everything was okay when it wasn't. Scorpius was terrified that Albus would neglect his studies tomorrow on Monday, in favour of continuing to avoid Vivian Carlsson. Scorpius supposed that eventually Albus would open up to him – he always did.

"You coming to Teddy's wedding next week?"

Scorpius looked over at Albus, shocked he was being spoken to. He tensed up at the question, however, not knowing what his answer would be. He was trying to get out of it. He was terrified of meeting Teddy Lupin and attending with the entire Malfoy family. It was a reunion Scorpius dreaded.

He didn't even know Teddy had known his name. He was just Albus' best friend, that was it. He was nobody special, not really.

'Lupin wouldn't even miss me if I didn't show up,' Scorpius thought to himself, almost positive that nobody would even notice him.

The sixteen year old was saved from Albus' intense stare as a letter dropped into his lap.

"Silver," Scorpius said, surprised that Silver Wings had come. It was his father's owl. He knew it was from the older man because Draco made sure Astoria never touched his owl. Only Draco and Blaise Zabini were allowed to send letters with Silver Wings.

Scorpius gave the owl a treat, "What do you have for me today?"

Silver Wings was particular and didn't like everybody. The owl only liked Draco, Blaise, Scorpius and Amelia and her daughter. It was a good judge of character.

"What's the owl's name again?"

"My dad and Mr Zabini called it Silver Wings."

"Oh cool."

"I think it's a stupid name, anyway. My dad and Mr Zabini are awfully unoriginal."

"Excuse me," Trayton said, standing in the doorway. "My dad is quite splendid with name ideas."

"'Silver Wings' is a little pathetic in my opinion," Scorpius retorted.

"Watch it, Malfoy," Trayton said, with a mock-glare before turning and leaving once more.

Scorpius laughed before opening the letter.

'Scorpius,

I know this may be bad timing, as it's Sunday, but I need your help. If I could go to anyone else, I would have. Blaise is on a mission for the Ministry and Theodore is overseas for business. I rather die than ask Goyle for help. I also don't trust Westfall or Sawyer quite yet.

And I know you're thinking 'what about Waymire, Spencer's father is nice and very much practical', yes, but I don't know him very well, not enough for this.

I didn't want to ask this of you, as you have enough to worry about. Especially with Amy'

Scorpius moved the parchment away from Albus' eyes. He felt guilty for always lying to his best friend but he couldn't betray his father like that.

'and what I am asking of you for that particular thing – lying to one's best friend isn't something I recommend, I thought you'd cave by now, and tell him, but you're almost too loyal to be a Slytherin.

Is it you or Amy who has a Gryffindor for a mother?

Anyway, I think it is about time to tell your best friend – I don't hide secrets from Blaise, and you don't hide secrets from Potter anymore, you hear me?

I should have never asked you to keep it a secret – I made that choice fifteen years ago, to do what I did.

If Amy's mother hadn't stopped me, I would have ran away, and never looked back – never seeing you again, and that broke my heart. You're my son, and I don't wish for you to turn out the way I did.

I know you harbor some unpleasant feelings about what I did – I know it was wrong of me, wanting to run away and leave you. I won't ever do that, not anymore, I promise. I'm in this for the long run, you have my word, son.

Now, I will discuss with you what I need when you meet me back at the Manor, meet me at seven.

Complete your homework boy! If you don't finish in time, bring it with you!

Someone has to be the parent to tell you to do your homework.

That isn't like me to be that parent, but tonight, I have to.

I already talked to Headmistress McGonagall, she understands.

I'll see you then, and don't forget to talk to Albus, if not now, when you get back tomorrow – yes, it'd be best if you sleep over, as I can discuss with you a few things.

I need your opinion on a few important matters...

Father'

Scorpius knew it was time to talk to Albus and tell him the truth. His dad was giving him his blessing to open up to his best friend, finally.

Albus emerged from the bathroom, grinning at Scorpius but then it faltered.

"Why did you move it away? What's happened? Is Amy okay?"

Scorpius raised an eyebrow at him, "Yes, it's fine. Dad just wants to see me tonight. He asked me to stay over. He got permission from McGonagall and everything."

"Wait, he didn't say what he wanted?"

Scorpius shook his head, "No."

"Well, what do you think it's about?"

"Honestly?"

Albus nodded at Scorpius. He wanted the truth. He deserved it and Scorpius knew that.

"Our family," Scorpius murmured, "How it's not working out and how it never really was."

Albus shot him a confused look.

"I think Dad knows the truth; about Mother and what's she's done."

Scorpius wanted to run. He wasn't ready for that conversation or for the one coming.

"I tried my best to hide it, but I guess he's smarter than I give him credit for. I used to believe my mother for all the lies she used to tell me about my dad."

Albus frowned, not sure what to reply but the blonde boy continued.

"I was in the kitchen that night, I was about eight or nine, I can't really remember...

'You want to know why your dad wasn't around before you were six – why he missed everything, Christmas, your birthday – even the day you were born. He didn't come, you want to know why?'

I didn't know what she was talking about. I was scared of the consequences. I always had been.

'Huh?'

I looked up into her cold blue eyes and then she said, 'He didn't want you, why would he want you? You never listen! You don't ever do as you are told, and you speak back! All the time and it's so frustrating. He never wanted you, you complicated things, and you changed things. The minute you existed, the minute I told him I was expecting a child – he left, he stood up from the table and just left me!'

I didn't understand...Dad said he loved me – why would he lie? A nine-year-old is going to believe their mother no matter what, and believe she was telling the truth – because what reason did she have for not telling the truth?

'YOU DESTORYED OUR LIVES!'

And then she...I... I felt the tears stream down my face – my Dad didn't want me, didn't love me, and I felt the effects of what she had just did – believing I deserved it – and soon I fell to the ground sobbing uncontrollably.

I was so scared Albus...I didn't know what to do..."

Albus walked to Scorpius, sitting beside him on the bed. "I'm sorry," he whispered. He put an arm over his best friend's shoulder.

"She blamed me for the way their marriage turned out."

"That's not your fault though."

"I was quiet the first night we met because she had told me if I didn't smarten up, Dad would leave again and this time, for good."

"Teddy wants me to write back to him. Are you coming?"

"I'm seeing my dad in less than three hours, I'll ask, okay? Even though my dad will say no though."

"You don't know that."

"Yes, I do; I know him."

Albus shook his head, "And I know you."

"What's that supposed to mean?" Scorpius raised an eyebrow, staring at the boy.

Albus only hummed in response, deciding not to answer him back, he was fighting a smile. Scorpius scowled in response. Albus always had a way of acting like he knew something Scorpius didn't and that infuriated him at times.

It was silent for a while before Albus piped up again.

"I'm serious Scorpius, he wants you there. Why would he write you a letter and invite you - probably against Victoire's wishes – if he didn't want you there?"

"See! His fiancée doesn't even want me there! I can't come and...and impose that'd be rude!"

Albus shook his head, "No, if you mean something to Teddy – which you obviously do, and I'm regretting ever being your friend when you're this moody – Vic will do as he wants and will suck it up if she has a problem."

"No, see she will have a problem, and I don't mean anything to Teddy – oh my god, what if he doesn't like me? He's going to hate me!"

"Why are you so dramatic today?"

Scorpius glared at his best friend, thinking about his next words before replying.

"I'm going home soon. My mother will be there, pretending to be sickly sweet as usual. My father also has something important to talk to me about. My cousin also wrote to me and decided, after sixteen years, that he wants to get to know me. Hex me if I'm a little stressed! He invited me to his wedding, who does that? I'm nervous, honestly. Todays a whole big shithole. I don't know what to expect when I go home…I don't know what to expect for anything at all."

Albus sighs, "Just...word of advice; ignore your mother."

"Not possible," Scorpius adds, rolling his eyes. "She loves to be the centre of attention."

Albus fixed an annoyed look at Scorpius for interrupting him.

"And what if my dad's sick or something? What if our entire world is about to change? What if someone is trying to kill him again?"

It wouldn't be the first time someone had attempted to assassinate Draco Malfoy. He was on everybody's hit list it seemed. The last four times someone had broken into the Malfoy Manor, only Astoria had been home. She'd shrieked and called the Ministry, but they never came. They weren't exactly high on anybody's priority lists. Draco spent a lot of time at Blaise Zabini's instead and always managed to miss the culprit. Every time. He always took refuge with his best friend whenever he could.

The months always passed quicker for Draco when Scorpius was at Hogwarts, if he spent time away from their home. Scorpius never understood why though. His dad had a filthy habit of keeping secrets from him too. He knew it was to be expected though. Draco only wanted to protect his son. Blaise was Scorpius' godfather, but Scorpius could never call him by his first name. It was just too weird for him.

Blaise and Draco's friendship mirrored Albus and Scorpius'. Their friendship survived every trial the world through at it. Blaise was unconditionally loyal to Draco, and him the same to the former. The Wizarding World considered Blaise a traitor as well, just for sticking by Draco. When Scorpius was young, he always wondered if he would ever get a best friend that great. He knew it would be harder for him.

The Malfoy name had already been ridden into the ground. Scorpius had wanted someone who didn't care what his last name was or who his father was. He wanted a friend that would be loyal to the end and hopefully be the best man at his wedding if he ever chose to marry. If he did, he'd hope the friend would be the godfather of his children, if he ever were to have any.

Scorpius wanted a friend that would be there until he took his last breath on this earth.

He found that friend, oddly, in Albus Severus Potter, of all people.

Scorpius walked through the fireplace and found himself back in the living room of Malfoy Manor. He knew he was supposed to come through the study but it was always so dark in there and he didn't want to startle his father.

McGonagall had stressed it and everything, saying things like; "That is what your father wants; do not enter any other way..."

McGonagall had a bad feeling Mr Malfoy harboured fugitives or something. Scorpius had scowled at her, not even dignifying her words with a response at the time. Draco would never do that, he was already in hot waters with the Ministry. There was no need to make things worse.

Scorpius always wondered if his dad would've made an exception if the person was innocent like Sirius Black, but he also knew that if he were to ever be found out, they'd take his father away. Scorpius didn't want nor need that in his life.

"I told McGonagall to send you through my study – but it's good to see you son," Draco said, a wide smile on his face as he saw his son. Scorpius turned and smiled as well. They began walking towards each other and then met in the middle for a brief hug. Their hugs were always brief and a secret. It would be humiliating to Scorpius if anybody knew they hugged at times.

"Are you okay?"

Scorpius nodded, "Why wouldn't I be?" Scorpius looked up, pulling away from the hug. Draco shook his head, frowning. "Dad are you okay?" He nodded, "I'm fine...," he said with a small smile. "Glad to know it worries you if I wasn't – I have a few things to discuss with you."

"About what," Scorpius questioned, arching an eyebrow at his father. He was desperate to know what was going on. He hated to be out of the loop. He also hoped his father hadn't found out about what Scorpius was keeping from him. He had kept that secret for a long time. He'd hated his mother for six years. But his dad didn't need to know that.

"Go get a sandwich and then meet me in my study."

Draco had been a sucker for Nutella since he'd met Amelia and he'd seemed to pass on the liking to his son. Scorpius quickly made two sandwiches and met his father in his study.

Scorpius grinned, "I brought your favourite."

Draco smiled back, "Don't make a mess in my office."

Scorpius took a seat, placing the plate in front of both of them, on top of papers Scorpius had never seen before. He was slightly curious about them but he knew his father would tell him in time.

Draco regarded his son for a while before speaking up, "Son, something has come up."

Scorpius shot him a look of confusion.

"We cannot continue to live the way we are, and I think you're old enough to know the truth."

'The truth about what,' Scorpius thought to himself with mild panic.

"When did you get here? Drake, why didn't you tell me my boy was coming home?"

The two boys looked over at Astoria Malfoy, who seemed to be an amazing actor. She shot a pretend look of hurt to Draco before sending a look of love in her son's direction. Scorpius blanched, wanting to throw up.

Draco shrugged, "Would it have mattered?"

"Would it have mattered? Yes of course it bloody would have! He's my son, Draco!"

"He's also my son. I'd like it if you knocked before barging into my space."

"I don't have to knock, what's yours is mine."

"And the rest of that sentence is; and what's mine is yours. Forgotten it after seventeen years?"

Draco's eyes glazed over into an emotion Scorpius had never seen in his father's eyes. It looked terrifying in a way, making Scorpius swallow.

Astoria flinched, "I remember but I don't share my stuff with you because you don't share yours. Like this office, for example. If we are married, why don't we share things?"

Draco rolled his eyes, anger appearing in his eyes, "I'm talking to my son. Do you mind?"

"I wanted to ask Scorpius something, so yes I do mind."

Astoria planted a fake, wide smile on her face as she turned to her son. "I was out today and Mrs Weasley spotted me. She told me to call her Molly, what a lovely lady she is. She invited me and our entire family to Teddy Lupin's wedding. Did you know he was getting married?"

Draco and Scorpius both stiffened at the same time.

Scorpius closed his eyes, willing this moment to end quickly.

"She told me Teddy sent out a letter. Did you get it?"

'I got it earlier.'

"Is this true Scorpius, why didn't you tell us you were invited?"

Scorpius turned to his dad, choosing only to answer him. "I'm not going," he said, as a matter of fact. It was the most obvious answer. He stood up, "We'll talk later, Dad."

Scorpius made it half way up the stairs, towards his room, before his dad interrupted him.

"What do you mean you aren't going?"

Scorpius turned around, "I don't want to. I don't want you two to come along and fight and embarrass me. You guys have a knack for it, unfortunately. I hate going to public places with the both of you at one time."

Astoria shot her son an angry look. Her act dropping for only a moment while Draco's back was to her. She gave him a look that clearly read: "You'll regret talking to your parents like that."

Draco sighs, leaning on the railing of the stairs. "I'm sorry, I wasn't aware that our disputes affected you too. Is this why you always run off to the Potters?"

"Yes," Scorpius sighed.

Draco rubbed the back of his neck, "You don't have to worry anymore," he commented but before he could explain Astoria interrupted.

"I'm sorry your dad is selfish. We promise to try and not fight anymore."

Draco rolled his eyes once more.

"I'm going to bed if that's all then," Scorpius said, shooting his dad a look. Draco didn't move so Scorpius took that as a hint to leave. He stomped up the remaining stars angrily and then slammed his bedroom door after him.

He didn't see Draco flinch and then his frown.

Scorpius was seated at the breakfast table by seven o'clock. Draco was sitting across from him, reading The Dailey Prophet. There was silence between them for a while as Scorpius munched on his breakfast, staring straight at the table.

Draco sighed before moving the newspaper to the side, raising an eyebrow. "What, no 'Good Morning'?"

"That would be lying," Scorpius said, drily. "It's morning but it's not a good morning," he grumbled. He was woken up by his mother staring down at him, looking almost murderous. She left shortly after and had put Scorpius in a four mood ever since.

Scorpius began moving his food around, not wanting to eat anymore. He was thoroughly put off his food. Draco sighed, once more, then asked in an agitated tone: "Stop doing that, what's wrong?"

"I'm not going to Lupin's wedding."

Draco frowned, "You should."

Astoria then shuffled into the room. "You have to go! We are a family and I already accepted the invitation. It'll be fun!"

"No, it won't."

"Come on Scor, you'll regret it if you don't."

Scorpius glared, "Stop calling me that," he hissed. Only a fair few hand of people were allowed to call him that and his mother wasn't one of them.

"Scorpius," Draco warned, "Be nice to your mother."

Scorpius rolled his eyes, hating that his mother always got to win. She looked almost pleased in the corner of his eye which pissed him off even more.

"I asked you a question Scorpius, what's gotten into you today?"

Scorpius sighed, not sure what to say.

"If you're worried he won't like you, don't be. I made sure you grew up into a great kid. He'll be stupid not to like you."

They didn't say anything after that and ate breakfast in peace.

Albus Potter's POV.

Albus was extremely worried about letting Scorpius go see his parents tonight. He wished he'd stopped him, but he knew that it'd be selfish. Scorpius could look after himself. Albus just worried about him. He hoped his mother didn't do anything with Mr Malfoy present. She'd be stupid to, Scorpius' words rang true in Albus' head.

Tap, tap and tap.

Albus looked up, noticing another unfamiliar owl, holding a very familiar letter. He ushered the owl in, giving it a treat before opening the letter. It smelled oddly of parchment and roses. A familiar smell he loved all too much.

'Dear Green Eyed Boy,

How's my favourite guy?

It's nice to hear about your family. They sound lovely even if your older brother is a bit of a git and all. I hope he's feeling better too. Did he get the girl of his dreams? Even if he's not prince charming, as you so nicely put it. I think that everybody is meant for each other in some way, don't you? I always hoped I had a prince charming running around somewhere. Maybe he's you. Who knows, Green? I'd like to think its you, despite the red flags.

I'm going to continue to call you Romeo until you let up and tell me your real name! I told you what mine is, why won't you tell me yours? I think I deserve to know, don't you? I can't wait to put a name to the face. I've waited five years. Time to spill the beans, Romeo.

Your dearest friend,

Lyra, who's quite impatient.'

Albus frowned, he'd like to think it was him too. He swallowed the bile rising in his mouth as he thought of his girlfriend. He didn't know what he was going to do about that but somehow Lyra always knew how to make him feel better and worse all at the same time.

He couldn't believe she'd brought up the name thing again or that she hinted that he could be her prince charming. He blushed, wondering why he wasn't just with her instead. It made more sense.

'One day, Lyra, we will meet and maybe I will sweep you off your feet like any old Prince Charming.'
