Chapter Eight: Distractions

A few weeks had passed by and Tori and Jade were getting along a whole lot better than they ever did in school. Their classes had left them with a lot of work to do so they ended up spending most of their days in their dorm room, working on assignments.

"We need to get out of here!" Jade said. Tori sighed.

"Yeah, I'd have to agree with that… but with all this work to do, I don't know how that's going to happen!" Tori stated sadly. Jade stood up and put on her leather jacket, holding her hand out to Tori she gestured to the door.

"C'mon… Let's go for a Coffee!" Jade suggested. Tori looked at her things and then back at Jade and wavered. She wanted to take Jade up on her offer but there was so much more work she had due in for Monday.

"I haven't got all day, Vega!" Jade stated impatiently.

"Okay" Tori agreed taking Jade's hand and got up.

"But if I can't hand all this in on time, I'm blaming you!" Tori stated matter of factly.

"Yeah, yeah whatever" Jade said as they walked out the door, still holding hands.

"So where do you wanna go to get coffee?" Tori asked.

"There's this really good coffee shop I found a couple of weeks ago, I thought we could go there" Jade suggested letting go of the half Latina's hand.

"Okay, sounds good" Tori said, smiling at the girl she'd now come to love. Out of all the people she could have fallen for her heart had chosen; Jade West!

"What do you want to drink, Vega?" Jade asked. Tori was so surprised by Jade's generosity that she took a minute to answer. Jade raised her eyebrow impatiently and Tori blushed.

"Umm, a latte please" Tori asked. Jade nodded.

"I'll get our coffees, why don't you find us a seat by the window?" Jade suggested, Tori nodded and went to sit down. Now that she was living with Jade she had seen a whole new side of her, one that she liked very much. She wanted to be able to go up to her and kiss her, or hold her hands but Tori was way to shy to even tell her how she felt. She was scared of getting rejected or humiliated for having these feelings for her.

"Hey, Vega" Jade said pulling Tori away from her thoughts she placed Tori's latte in front of her and set her own black coffee on the table.

"So what's so special about this place?" Tori asked.

"The view, you can see everything that goes on around campus and it's inspiring. Last time I came here I wrote down two pages for my screen play" Jade said.

"Wow, that's good. What did you write?" Tori wandered.

"About an affair between a professor and his student." Jade said.

"Oh, sounds interesting" Tori said. Jade shrugged unsure of herself now.

"Well I don't know, I guess it has been done before" Jade replied.

"Well so what? You'll write it better" Tori said, she placed a hand on Jade's and smiled up at her. "I have faith in you" Tori added.

"Thanks, Tori" Jade said blushing a little.

Half an hour had passed and the two girls were talking, laughing and having a good time when Tori's phone rang.

"It's Cat" Tori informed the girl sitting opposite her.

"Hi Cat, how are you?" Tori asked, happy to hear from their mutual friend.

"Where are you? Where is Jade? I'm outside your dorm!" Cat said ignoring the half Latina's question.

"We'll be right there!" Tori said hanging up.

"What's going on?" Jade asked.

"Cat's at our dorm!" Tori said.

"What brings you here?" Jade asked Cat when they got to their dorm.

"I came for a surprise visit but you weren't here!" Cat pouted.

"Well we're here now" Tori said giving Cat a hug.

"I came to see what it's like in the land of Julliard!" Cat said.

"Well we've got a weekend of homework!" Tori sighed as she let them in the dorm.

"Can't you take a break and come New York style shopping with me? Pretty please with lots of sugar on top!" Cat asked, Tori sighed. It had been ages since she'd seen her redheaded friend and she did need a new outfit and maybe one that Jade would think she was cute in.

"Okay Cat. I'm in. Jade?" Tori asked. Cat looked up at Cat with her big brown eyes.

"Alright, I'll go!" Jade agreed reluctantly.

Tori had found a red dress that she was sure Jade would like her in and felt pretty proud of herself. Now all she needed was somewhere to go to wear it. Maybe there was a party going on at campus? maybe they could crash it?

"Do you know of any party's going on tonight?" Tori asked, Jade raised her eyebrow in surprise.

"Why do you wanna know?" Jade asked.

"I just thought. We could go... with Cat. Show her the college experience?" Tori said.

"Hmm... are you sure there's no other reason?" Jade teased.

"What's this I hear about a party?" Cat piped up. "I wanna go!" Cat added.

"Well there is one I know of, we can all go" Jade said. Cat jumped up and down excitedly.

"Yay! Now you have somewhere to wear your dress Tori!" Cat said.

"Ah I see what this was about? Trying to catch someone's eye are we?" Jade teased.

"Uh, yeah... maybe" Tori admitted, blushing a deep shade of crimson. Jade frowned. Her mind was swimming around with thoughts of Tori ending up with some other guy... someone who wasn't her and she felt jealous.

"Are you okay, Jade?" Cat asked. Jade nodded.

"Just fine!" Jade said but Cat wasn't convinced.

A/N: That's it for now. I'll update next week, what do you think will happen at the party? Will Tori and Jade find out about how they feel? Please let me know your thoughts I always love hearing them.
