A/N I thought this story had run its course.. But I am not yet ready to say goodbye to my royal family. They are my happy place. I hope you all enjoy this.
"I'm not ready for this." Ciel said, leaning back in the seat.
"Come now, it isn't that difficult, I told you that I would guide you." Sebastian replied. "Now, hands on the wheel."
"This is madness. Why did I agree to this, I must have lost my mind."
" surely it's not as bad as all that. Think of how much you're going to enjoy this new freedom, the children will be so proud of you. You must trust me, have I ever steered you -" Ciel sighed.
"Don't you dare finish that sentence." The former Earl warned. Sebastian smirked.
"You caught my little joke, did you,my love?"
" Damn right I did. Now stop messing around, I want to get this over with. "Ciel demanded.
"Of course, young master, whatever you wish." Ciel glared at his mate, Sebastian continued. "Just think of how much amusement you'll have when you can show Alois you can do yet another activity he has not mastered. Or think of how happy the little ones will be that you can take them to the park while I talk to my father." Ciel shook his head.
"I'd never allow that. The people on the road worry me. I won't endanger them."
"They're not human, nowhere near as fragile,Ciel. It may shake them up, but they cannot be seriously injured in this way. Surely you know that by now."
" and you must know that a mother's instinct is to prevent those situations regardless. Do you have the slightest idea what kind of trauma would come of that. Have you any clue what anxiety would fill their little minds at the very thought of getting in a car? "
"Or perhaps everything will be fine and you are worrying about things that are not an issue at present. Come now, it will be all right. I'm not asking you to do some...outrageous feat, all I ask is that you trust me and relax."
"Fine." Ciel said with irritation.
"Fine?" Sebastian echoed in astonishment. Ciel gripped the steering wheel.
"Fine, let's get this over with. This is me trusting you."
" Good. Let's begin then shall we? "
"If we must."
" Excellent, now, the first thing I'd like to show you is to adjust your mirror. You need to see what's behind you. " Sebastian watched his mate follow his instruction.
"All right, what 's next?"
" you'll notice these letters here, R is reverse, D is drive-"
"Yeah, I've got that much. What else?"
"Have you put on your seat belt?" Ciel rolled his eyes.
"It's an empty parking lot, do I really need-"
"Ciel, dearest, I would feel so much better if you did." The younger demon did as he was told.
"Happy now?" He grumbled.
"Quite. Now, since you seem to know so much, please put the key in the ignition and turn it, keeping your foot on-"
"I know, I'm not a complete moron." Ciel complained, turning the key.
"Perfect, now that you've turned the car on, place your foot in the gas pedal then you may begin-"
"I've got it." Ciel said, shifting into drive and placing his foot on the gas.
"Remember not to push too much, the more you press down the faster you-" Sebastian was forced forward as the car jerked sharply.
"That dearest, is just one of many reasons a seat belt is important. If we were human- Well, I'm sure you understand...Now, press the g- Ciel, you cannot drive with both feet." Sebastian pointed out.
"This is new to me, I'm not used to this sort of thing."
"I know. You soon will be, we'll go straight ahead and when you come to the turn, go right."
Sebastian couldn't stop himself from chuckling as the car began to move only to stop abruptly.
"Shut it." Ciel growled, beginning to turn.
"Wait a moment, you're going to -" the loud scraping sound caused the older demon to shake his head.
" I probably should have taught you in the old car. It's a shame really, we just had this one-"
"That's enough of your commentary. If you can't behave yourself, you can just take me home."
" Then you wouldn't have learned anything,would you? "
You know what, Sebastian. " Ciel raged.
"Most likely." Ciel tightened his grip on the wheel , his eyes changing.
" Stop it! "
"It's not a good idea to drive angry."
"Bite me."
" Was that an invitation? "
"I hate you."
"We've been down that road already, you couldn't if you truly wanted to. Please keep your eyes on the road. "
"It's a bloody parking lot! "
"Yes, but-"
"You know what you can do?" Ciel continued to rage. "You can kiss my-"
"Mama!" The excited shout caused Ciel to stop the car and turn to the window, a short distance away,Ann stood with the Michaelis children, who waved happily at their parents.
"Incredible timing as always." Sebastian smirked.
"What are you all doing here?" Ciel called back.
"Brother Evian said you need happy things now. We are very happy things for you. " Rachel replied. "Grandmother said it is okay if we do not get in the way. We will let you drive with Daddy. "
"Your father's doing most of the driving..He's driving me right up the bloody wall!"
"Oh my!" Rachel cried, placing her hands on her cheeks.
"Silly Mum, you're in a car. They don't have walls." Rowan giggled. Ciel was unable to hold onto his anger and smiled.
"That's right,Rowan." He said softly. "Such a smart boy." Rowan beamed proudly.
"Brothers,Sisters,Grandmother, I'm so smart,Mum said so. Mum knows,he's my Mum! "
"Yes,dear, you are all very smart. " Ann confirmed.
"You can do it,Mama!" Evian cheered. "Do not worry, Dad will still love you lots. " Ciel sighed.
"Let's stop here for today, for Evian to say something like that -"
" You must learn at some point,my love. " Sebastian said gently.
"Maybe not today. I mean it takes more than a day to learn anything and we have all the time in the world."
"Are you certain that if we stop here,I will be able to get you back to it?"
" I can't promise that. "
"Very well, at least you're being honest. Let's park the car and I'll take over. Perhaps since the children and Mother are here they would like to go to the park."
" Can't you just take it from here? "
"You will have to park the car so the children and my mother can get in."
" Or I can turn the damn car off here and they can walk over. "
"Darling, my mother is getting on in years and -"
"Fine. But that's it."
"Remember, watch what you're pressing and only one foot this you'll move to your left, and pull up we can back into this space." Ciel grumbled in response ,shifting the gear and turning the wheel. The vehicle lurched forward.
"Good, you'll have to straighten the wheel a bit. Well done my love. Now put the car in reverse and -"
" I can't bloody see if it's straight. " Ciel struggled to look behind him.
"Fear not,I'll have a look and guide you through it." Sebastian reached for the door.
"That's not a good idea. Don't get out of the car."
" Nonsense, you'll be just fine. All you have to do is remember to not press too much on the gas pedal and stop when I tell you. "
"This is a really bad idea." Ciel called after his mate as the door closed and the older demon walked to the back of the car.
Evian gasped, covering his eyes with his hands. "Oh no." He cried. His siblings followed his lead.
"Back up gently!" Sebastian coached from behind the car. Ciel sat still.
"You can do it,just follow my instructions. Straight back, you've positioned it perfectly."
"S-"
" Straight back. "Sebastian called. Ciel grumbled in the driver's seat. He put the car in reverse and began to turn in an effort to see out the back window. He carefully pressed the gas pedal.
"A little more, you're not going to get anywhere that way." Ciel rolled his eyes, but took the advice.
"You can do better than that, you should-" Ciel pressed down harder, the car sped backwards until Ciel felt it stop suddenly, accompanied by a loud thump. He gasped, sitting still with wide eyes. The young demon turned in his seat, clearly in shock. Sebastian was no longer within view. He didn't seem to notice the movent as the vehicle shifted.
"It is okay, Mama!" Evian shouted. Ciel remained still, taking no notice of his mate who was now opening the car door.
"Ciel," Sebastian called gently. Ciel felt the clawed arms around him and allowed Sebastian to pull him close.
"It's all right my love." Sebastian comforted. "Cars cannot harm me. One of many reasons for these lessons-"
"I told you not to go back there." Ciel said at last.
"Yes you did. I had hoped to help you gain some confidence. I hope you understand why I tell you about your temper behind the wheel. I realize that I may have pushed a bit to far, but you must come out of your comfort zone once in a while if you are to learn new things." Ciel rested his head on his mate's chest.
"I know it's not going to do anything to you, but I still felt it."
"You surprised yourself, and you had no intention of hurting me. You have nothing to worry about. I love you no less than I always have. You've been through quite enough for one day." The older demon kissed Ciel's head, beckoning his family over as he reached in, turning the engine off.
Ann placed the children in their seats, helping them to strap in before turning back to her son and his mate. She patted Ciel's shoulder softly.
"Dear, you must not be so hard on yourself. No one is perfect. The most important thing is that you gave it a try and everyone is all right." She said, getting into her own seat.
"It's so frustrating." Ciel said softly.
"New things can be quite difficult. It will get easier as you do it more. Let's get in the car now and I shall reward your efforts."
"You're an actual jerk, did you know that?" Ciel asked. Sebastian made his way to the passenger side, shifting Ciel in his arms and pulling open the door.
"It may be true, but I do hope you'll give me a chance to make amends." Sebastian set Ciel down on the seat.
"Do you really think you deserve it?"
"Perhaps not. Nevertheless, you always seem to give me another try and I will not fail you." Ciel sighed.
"It better be something amazing."
"You have my word."
"Fine, just get in the car. I want to go."
"As you wish, my dearest love. I shall do as you say, now and forever."
