Bo insists that a doctor checks Matthew out, even if he insists that he is fine. Rachel promises to stay with Bo so Matthew reluctantly agrees. She puts a hand on her step fathers shoulder as she kneels down at his level in the wheelchair.
"Mom is a fighter, you know. She is going to be just fine. I know you are worried about her but you have to understand that it was not just her nightmare. You were hurt too. So was Matthew. Please do not try to bottle this all up inside. If you don't want to talk to mom or Matthew then I am always available."
"I am not sure what there really is to say."
"Well how do you feel?"
"At the moment…scared…relieved…angry…"
"That's a good start. "
"Rachel…I know you want me to be seen too…"
"I'm not going to push because I know you are at least as stubborn as my mom but you know that as soon as she wakes up, she's going to insist that you do. Wouldn't you rather be spending the time with her then?"
"Oh you're good," Bo concedes.
"You forget who my parents are…who do you think I learned from?"
"If I do this…"
"I promise that if there is a problem, I will come and get you."
"Thank you."
"Believe it or not, I kind of like having you around. You make my mom deliriously happy, which makes me happy. I love you okay."
"I love you too kid," he says, as he kisses her forehead.
Rachel takes a deep breath after Bo is out of sight and walks to the payphones.
"Kevin, it's me. Can you please come to the hospital...I…I need you."

Robin watches as her father paces the hospital corridors. She can see the wheels turning in his mind and knows that he is nearing his breaking point.
"Dad…Dad, stop," Robin states. "You are making me nervous."
He looks at his daughter then and sees her mother. That beautiful dark haired girl he first met all those years ago…who captured his heart from the very first second.
At that moment, all rational thought is gone and all he can see is another hospital a lifetime ago…and the regret that he would never fully be able to forget. Robert Scorpio has been many things to many different people but helpless is one thing he was nevergood at… particularly when it involved the Devane women.
"Robin, I can't…I can't do this without her. I've tried fortoo many years and it doesn't work."
"Then get your ass in there and tell her…what are you waiting for?"
"Robin…"
"Are you really afraid she'll turn you down?"
"She did before…"
"And so did you…you were too afraid to fight for her. If you want her…go get her. Otherwise, sit down and shut up. "
Robert gives his daughter an exasperated look so she wraps her arms around him. "You know how much I love you daddy…but the ball has always been in your court…It's not going to get better unless you tell her how you feel. You could have been killed in there you know…you were too distracted by her."
"Don't remind me," he says bitterly.
"It's not a weakness okay. You love her. "
"I always have."
"I know," she says.
What Robin does not have to say is that her mother always felt the same. Her parents had the greatest love story she had ever been privy to…but they were too stubborn and too afraid to fight for it. It was the greatest tragedy of her life…having her parents die and then refuse to go after each other when they came back. She can only hope her father will listen to her this time.

Matthew was released with minor injuries but only if he promised to see a counselor for at least ten sessions. What he had witnessed was enough to give anyone nightmares, let alone a boy his age.
The doctor informs Bo that he has to stay in the hospital overnight to make sure he does not have a concussion or any lasting effects from when he lost consciousness in the snow. He was not happy at all but he agreed to stay on the condition that he share a room with his wife. It was unconventional but given what they had all been through, the doctor did not fight it.
Rachel was in the waiting room just as Kevin arrives. She stands up and walks into his arms.
"How are you holding up," he asks.
"Terrible. My mom just collapsed, my baby sister has something wrong with her and I honestly do not know how my brother and your uncle are still standing. My family has been through so much Kevin…"
"I am so sorry I was not able to be here with you."
"You are here now. That's what is important."
Kevin kisses her softly and takes her in his arms just as the doctor finally walks out. Bo and Matthew are right behind him.
