Chapter Two:

"A pure hand needs no glove to cover it."

-Scarlet Letter

Previously...

"I am sorry Miss Pierce, Mr. Salvatore. The sperm sample and the eggs were lost. Due to the lack of nitrogen...", The doctor said. Katherine's eyes widen.

"What!?", Katherine uttered in disbelief as Damon took her hand in his. He tried to calm her down. " You mean to tell me that our chances of getting this baby are gone. I mean the segregate mother lost the baby and now you are telling me that my , my eggs are gone!", Katherine shrieked.

"Baby relax... We can try later.", Damon said as he hugged his distraught fiance. " NO, I WANT MY BABY NOW. I MEAN OUR BABY!", Katherine said in frustration.

Two Months later.

The young woman sat across the brunet doctor as she heard the results. "Come again?", replied the petite young woman. " Ms. Bennett the test results stated that you are about two months and one week pregnant", said the doctor as blue orbs stared at the young woman with anticipation.

" You must be joking right?- Are you sure you have the correct record?", the caramel-skinned woman asked as disbelief danced across her beautiful features.
" I am serious Miss Bennett. I would not be joking about such matters", the doctor said. As Bonnie smiled and sneered.

"Yes, you certainly are mistaken. The word itself associated to me is a joke. There is no way that I am pregnant!", Bonnie said as she folded her arms and looked a the doctor with a challenging look.

" I take it you are perhaps afraid or upset about the news. I understand given your age-", the doctor said. Bonnie shook her head as she let out a tsk sound out of her lips. Her lips turned into an angry bow as bewilderment graced her face.

"It's not being afraid or upset. I am more confused. It's not possible...", Bonnie said as her facial expression soften. " I understand that this is hard to deal with. You are young and you just turned 18-".

" I get it. But it's not possible. You know because my boyfriend-Well my ex and I never did anything", Bonnie said as she felt the need to set things clear.

" Well, there is other ways. One could be sharing of bodily fluids. Perhaps-", the doctor stated. Bonnie shook her head and said " What are you trying to imply. That I was getting fingered or giving him a hand job-". Disbelief washed over the young girl's face.

"This is unbelievable. A very distasteful joke. If you ask me!", ranted on the angered petite girl.

"Unfortunately, I wish that I were joking Ms. Bennett. But the matter of the fact is that the results state you are pregnant. On a good note, this shows that you are very low on iron. Which the pre- natal vitamin will help".

The young girl shook her head violently as she out a gutsy sigh. She gave a skyward look towards the ceiling before stared back at the blond haired woman. " Dr. Webber. I really-How about I get the test done again?-huh?- I am sure they will come back negative. Huh?'.

The doctor looked at the confused and upset young woman. The blond woman toyed with the idea as she fidgeted with the lab results in her hand. She let out a resigned sigh and said "I suppose we can do this one more time. If this helps put you at ease-".

"-Yes, Please do!"

"Alright. I am going to give you this lab orders they should be back within a few hours"

The young girl nodded as she took the slip fairly quick out of the woman's hand. Bonnie stared at the lab order as some sort of lottery ticket. As if this piece of paper had the power to decide her fate. Little did she know that fate had already been decided for her and there was no turning back but instead to go forward.

Two days later,

The older woman sat on the couch as she watched another rerun of 'Good Times'. Bonnie walked in a discombobulated manner. Her grandmother's eyebrows quirked with confusion and with questioning eyes. The petite girl seemed to be lost in her own thoughts. All her focus was on that test result. She dreaded the result. She wanted it all to be a nightmare. "Bonnie!-Honey!?", Shelia's voice resonated as Bonnie turned to face her grandmother.

"Huh?!", responded the distracted teenager. The elder woman folded her arms with this condescending look that graced her almond shaped brown eyes. " You better not be talkin to me like that -child!", responded Shelia.

Bonnie smiled apologetically. " Sorry. MEMAW".

" That's mo' like it. So, how was school?"

"It was ok', her voice came out raspy and in a deflated tone. Shelia stared at her granddaughter. Meanwhile, Bonnie's shoulders slumped. " Bonnie- is everythin' alright?'. The young girl stared back as her grandmother and forced a smile. " Yeah, I am just a little tired. You know Memaw. I am going to go and start on my homework".

" Are you sure?", Shelia asked as she was not convinced.

"Yeah", her reply was forced as she attempted to plaster a smiled. " Ok. C'MON. Sit", motioned the elder woman for the young girl to sit down and talk. Bonnie let out a sigh and sat next to her grandmother obediently.

Silence filled the room as Bonnie sat next to her grandmother. But for some odd reason, it was comforting. " You gonna tell your memaw was wrong?-Did you fail a test?", Shelia said as she placed her hands over Bonnie.

Inertly the caramel-skinned teenager leaned into her grandmother and shook her head. " No. Everything is fine", a rugged exhale escaped from Bonnie's lip.

" I guess you ain't gonna tell me huh?", Shelia said as she gave a wayward look. Bonnie smiled lightly and said " I am fine. I promise. Cross my heart Memaw". She lifted chin and stared into the almond brown shape eyes that were graced with thin lines. Those wrinkles that graced the older woman and adorned the woman with years of experience.

Shelia let out a sigh and said " Aight. Baby- I ain't gonna push you. But you know -".

" I Know Memaw. I can tell you anything-", Bonnie replied as she got up. Shelia nodded with a warm smile. Bonnie still felt uneasy. Her Memaw had calmed her parents down after the whole Jackson scandal and yet Shelia had given her an earful and made her feel the weight of disappointment.

Bonnie decided to get up and go to her room. The caramel girl shook as she opened her bag and stared at the pregnancy test. She was scared to try it out. She felt like she was going insane. She told herself ' there is nothing to worry about. It's gonna be ok-PREGNANT?-PFT!'.

She snuck the pregnancy test into her pocket and when to the restroom which was across the hallway. She inhales and exhales as her chest heaved. She nibbled on her lips in an impatient manner. A few minutes later, she felt her heart beat came to a quick halt as it began to beat erratically.

The two plus signs appeared on the test. She picked the box up . She read the label in a frantic manner. She read it over and over. She wished it was not confirming what she had heard earlier.

Bonnie shook her head as she dropped to the floor and began to cry as she then started laughing. "This-This oughta be a sick joke -this ain't real'. Tears fell from her muddy green orbs. She got up and said, " there's gotta be an explanation".

She took a deep breath and decided to focus on going over her debate team speech.

Three hours later...

He worked on his motorcycle. His mocha skin glistened under the light. He sang melodiously the song 'My girl " by the Temptations. Bonnie walked into the garage. She smiled as she folded her arms and saw her uncle.

CJ or better known as Cedrick James Bennett. He was such a ladies man. He was the epitome of a casanova. He sang loudly as he went off key when Bonnie stifled a giggle. She said " Alright Patti Labelle". He turned as he chuckled. He put his hands on his hips and said, " So if diva means giving your best, then yes, I guess I am a diva".

"Ha-Ok. You can stop now ", Bonnie said.

"How was school?-Any issues with Jackson?'

" Ha, school was fine. If it that means being targetted as the spoke person for the African American Community. Then by all means it was great". She folded her arms while her uncle gave a puzzled and wayward expression.

"Ah-That's awful. Am I- I am going up there". Clank. The sound of his wrech against the hard surface. Bonnie flinched as she jumped off the counter. " Oh no you ain't. You are not causing a scene. I haven't you notice all the crap I got at home".

CJ shook his head as he then said," Alright Thene. Aside from this any news from DUKE?".

" Thanks, CJ-Ah, Glad you asked. I was accepted to the University. I am so excited. I guess telling Mom and Dad will hopefully get me to their good graces".

The man stopped abruptly as he picked up the young woman. " Really Thene?!"

" Yeah-I'm serious they called Mr. Rudolf and then I got an email. I will officially be a freshman for the class of 2017", yelped the teenage girl.

He laughed in delight in a boastful manner. " Atta girl-You sho' is a real smart one. You sho' gonna make you momma and daddy proud".

" I hope so. You know how hard I been working and with the editing at the newspaper for school, debate team and soccer-'

" I know baby. You are always making all of us proud. I know things have not been so good. But Sean and Abby will come to their senses. I mean they have a good daughter who thought she could be sneaky-".

"UGH. Not you too. I don't know how many times I had to explain myself. I didn't have a choice-", whined Bonnie as she scrunched up her nose and gave her uncle a puppy-eyed expression.

He rolled his eyes in disagreement, " Child-". She stared at him as she slumped her shoulder. A long sigh a followed as he cleared his throat. " there is always a choice. So stop it".

" Alright. You are right. There could have other avenues to avoid this hot mess. But on a side note- I found out that Jackson and I were not meant for each other. I can't believe I was envisioning a lasting relationship. I want to get out of this town as soon as possible. I can't get stuck here"

Meanwhile,

She could not get the young girl's image out of her head. She shook her head as she took a deep breath. She paced to and fro at the parking lot. She was waiting for him.

The short red head petite woman watched intently as she stood near the exit and the alleyway. Her heart quicken as she saw the stocky built, short and bald-headed man. He was taking off his lab coat while loosening his tie which made the folds of his chubby neck over flow from the dress shirt.

He slammed his brief case roughly against his vehicle as he struggled to open the door. " Dr. Hiddleman-", airy and quivery voice of the woman said. He whipped his head as he scanned around the parking lot.

He looked at the nurse as his eyes narrowed on her. " Ah-what is it Marvena?".

"You can't let this go on- Think about that poor girl-".

He tilted his head to the side, as his smile with snide. His place his finger on his lips. 'Ah-".

She stared at him while her hands curled into a fist. The hollow sound was heard as her longs filled with cold air.

" Why should I be concerned with this. Evidently your inability to pay attention to detail -".

"-Mine-You got to be-", disdained resonated as she shouted back.

" Yes-Must I repeat my say. I have done nothing wrong. All I did was followed the procedure on the chart", he said as he turned to get in his car.

" No-You-Knew you messed up and yet did have the decency to notify the patient".

"Ha-that's your job-If I fall you are coming down with me", he responded cynically.

Her blue eyes welded with tears. " I'm just a mere nurse to you. But at least I have conscious- I'm going to tell the head doctor".

"You won't-Trust me. What's gonna happen when they found out you been selling and stealing the hydrocodone to patients-", ominously he said as turned around briskly and took hold of her wrist.

She squirmed under his hold. Fear crossed her face.

" You -bastard. You know why I did this. My son-'.

"Yes, Tyler is it?-It would be a shame to have his mother put behind bars. Huh?", taunted the man.

The woman pulled away as he said, " Keep your mouth shut if you know what is good for you".

The car sped out of the parking lot as the wind picked up and the woman stood there. It was unnerving as she wiped her tears and walked towards her vehicle.

She knew she had to do what was right. The brownish-green orbs of the young girl replayed in the red head's mind. Guilt and shame engulfed the woman as she held onto he side.

Her actions along with his would cause so much havoc in many lives...
