Percy POV

Apollo told me that the vision should have had sound, but the fact that I got it so quickly still pleased me. It was much better than the weeks it took to manipulate the mist. The sun god agreed to spend some time helping me perfect my multi-vision.

Before we got started though, I did end up Iris messaging my mom. I didn't like feeling like I had invaded her privacy but as expected, she didn't mind at all. She told me that she was touched that I was so worried about her.

At first, Apollo tried to have me see him when he was in his bedroom and I was in the living room. The flaw in the plan though was I had no idea if I was hearing him play the lyre because I was doing it properly, or if I heard it because we were in the same building.

In the end, we decided to head out of the apartment in different directions. I went to my father's temple. I tried to do my best to keep it clean, but I never seemed to be there often enough. I had begun to dust when I remembered that I was supposed to be trying to see where Apollo was.

I paused in my cleaning and tried to summon the mental image of the god of the sun. Just like with my mom, I projected the picture onto a mental image of a swirling cloud. It only took a few seconds before I felt my vision being altered again to reveal the sun god leaning against the side of a building, surrounded by a group of girls. He definitely looked like he was enjoying the attention. I couldn't help but laugh at that.

My vision still didn't have sound. I tried focusing harder, but it stayed silent. I frowned, it seemed like getting noise would take more work than getting a picture would.

I shrugged and decided to continue trying to get sound while I went back to cleaning. I had only just picked up the cloth and looked around to see where I should start first, when the image of Apollo started to fade. I had to stop moving while I re-established the vision of the sun god. Once it was back, I tried to walk again only to have the vision wavering as my concentration was divided.

I frowned. This skill was going to be harder than I thought.

ΩΩΩ

It was weird trying to work with multi-vision playing.

I figured out that I could move while keeping my second sight on, but it involved most of my attention being riveted on the image of the sun god while he ran through basic moves in the sword arena. Once I had figured that out though, it presented a whole new problem.

Seeing two images stacked on top of one another was making me a little dizzy. I wasn't sure how gods did it. When I was standing still it wasn't so bad but when I was moving, it threw me off. Either one picture was moving around while one stayed still or, even worse, both moved in different directions. It was definitely something that would take a while to get used to. I was fairly certain that if I was still mortal, I would be feeling queasy from the sight.

I decided that for now, it would be best if I just focused on getting used to seeing the two images move separately of each other. After I could do that, then I would worry about how to make sound appear.

Once my father's temple was dust-free, I decided to go for a stroll through New Rome. I wanted to see if I could avoid running into anyone, or tripping over anything, while over half of my focus was on something else.

ΩΩΩ

For the most part, I seemed to be able to do okay. Sometimes I would get distracted by something and almost lose the second image, but I was always able to refocus before I lost it completely.

The longer I walked around with my multi-vision on though, the better it was getting. I was a lot less nauseous than I had been. It kind of reminded me of the first time I had seen a 3D movie. It was a cheap Christmas DVD that my mom had bought, complete with the red and blue glasses. Ya it was cool seeing the snow coming towards me but when I took off my glasses to see the screen, the fuzzy pictures made my eyes hurt.

I continued to try for sound periodically throughout the day, but nothing I tried worked.

After Apollo had left the training arena, I decided to head there myself. The god of the sun had said that I would be able to use my godly gifts to look behind me in a fight, I was curious as to just how difficult it would be.

Frank was in the arena when I got there. I contemplated asking him to spar with me, but I decided to test my luck against the mechanical dummies instead. I figured that since I had no idea if I could even hold the second image while trying to block an enemy blade, going against a son of Mars might be a little much.

ΩΩΩ

Truthfully, facing off against the dummy was even a little much. I tried my best to block all the hits, but the view of the river that I was getting courtesy of the sun god was distracting me. I had always loved going to the banks of the Little Tiber. It was the only large source of water around the city. Sure there was the odd pond or fountain, but it wasn't the same as the lake or ocean that Camp Half-blood had. I was a child of Poseidon; the love of water was in my blood.

I was able to keep from losing sight of Apollo but by the time I finished training with the dummy, I was sweating and I had golden ichor running down my shoulder from a jab that I had been just the slightest bit too slow to block.

Since the sun was already setting, I decided that it was time to call it a day and head home. Besides, I already knew that Apollo was already heading back to the apartment with a pizza for us.

I beat the god of the sun home, but not by much. I kicked off my shoes and went to grab a bite of ambrosia when the door opened.

"Hey Percy, I figured you'd be..." The god of the sun trailed off. I turned around in time to see him set down the pizza. He came towards me with a frown and grab my arm. "Umm... Perce? What happened to your shoulder?"

I blinked in surprise before I shrugged. "Nothing big, it was just a training accident."

The god of medicine gave me a blank look and shook his head, "Seriously Percy? You're a god now, gods aren't supposed to injure themselves while training."

I couldn't help but blush. I hadn't even thought about that. I wondered how many campers had seen me bleeding ichor on the way back. "Hey, cut me a break. I've only been a god for like 2 and a half months. Besides, it's mostly your fault anyway."

"Okay, I'll bite. How exactly is this my fault? I didn't nearly cut you arm off."

I rolled my eyes, "I had almost forgotten that you are the god of the arts. Talk about over-exaggeration. It's barely even a scratch." He gave me a dark look and I sighed. "Seriously Apollo, I'm okay. I'll eat a piece of Ambrosia and I'll be fine in like ten minutes."

I tried to pull away to go get some of the godly food, but a hand tightening at my wrist stopped me. I turned back to the god of the sun in surprise. He didn't meet my gaze. Instead he kept his eyes focused on my shoulder as he used his free hand to push the collar of my shirt out of the way so that he could see the wound. He finally released my arm, but only so that he could put his newly freed hand over my cut. He closed his eyes for a moment and I felt warmth running through my shoulder, centering on my injury.

He opened his eyes a moment later and stepped back. "There good as new."

I looked down at my newly healed shoulder and blinked in confusion. "I didn't know you could do that."

The son of Leto rolled his eyes, "I am the god of medicine Percy."

"Well ya, but you're... I didn't know you could still..." I faded off into silence. I had no idea how to finish that sentence without digging myself into a deeper hole.

Fortunately, he just laughed. "I was made into the demigod equivalent of my children. They have healing abilities, so I still retained my own. Either way though, you still didn't answer my question, how is your injury my fault?"

"Oh, I was doing what we talked about. I was following you today using multi-vision." I tilted my head as a question occurred to me. "Did you know?

"Did I know what?"

I struggled to put my question into words. "Is there a way to tell if one of the gods is... watching you?"

He nodded, "Of course. Have you ever felt like someone is watching, but you look around and no one is there? That's one of the gods checking up on you."

I felt surprised. I used to feel that way often when I was a kid, especially whenever my mom and I went to the ocean. It made me wonder if my dad was watching over me even then.

"Huh..." I shook my head to clear it. My brain was getting off topic. "Anyway I spent the day trying to keep my vision on you the entire time, not as easy as I thought it would be by the way. After you left the training arena, I wanted to see if I could fight while still looking in two places at once. I had just finished warming up when you went down to the Little Tiber. With the sun setting over the water behind you, it distracted me."

I heard his breathing stutter a little. "You were distracted by me?"

"Ya, that's one of my favorite places in New Rome, I love that river. It's beautiful."

He gave me an indecipherable look. "You were distracted because the river... was beautiful?"

"Yes..?" I meant it as a statement, but it came out a question. The way he worded that sentence made me felt like there was something I was missing.

He scoffed and looked at me with an odd forced type of smile, "Typical son of Poseidon. Distracted by beautiful water."

I frowned. I may not have known what he was talking about, but he sounded almost pained. "Are you okay?"

He shook his head and waved me off. "Don't worry about it Percy. Come on, let's eat. The pizza is getting cold."

Authors Note

I feel accomplished. I finally finished my one story that I hadn't updated since early January. Yay me!

So as I'm writing, I keep thinking of ideas for other chapters. I now have this big list of stuff I want our boys to do and whenever I'm having writers block, I look at it for ideas. I got to admit, that list is crazy useful. I can't wait for the chance to actually use some of the ideas, but many of them are for when they are already together.

Next update will be October 18th

Next Chapter:

I looked at the water with doubt. "Oh come on Apollo, you promised." I sighed and ran a hand through my hair. "True, but I am already regretting this..."
