Chapter 4- Classes From Hell
Kim was officially in hell. That was how she described this. Hell.
Kim and Emily were sitting on two different chairs in a large royal living room, learning about posture and what else Kim couldn't remember. Charlotte was bugging her and she was standing in front of the two about presenting yourself in public.
"Now that is why we need to be civil." She finished
"Are you saying I don't act civil?" Kim asked, standing up and crossing her arms.
"Well, not Rayon's standard of civil, half-blood." Charlotte answered
Kim was about to give this lady a piece of her mind when Emily cut in.
"Charlotte, stop calling the princess that word." She spoke up
Charlotte was shocked. "Emily! Do not address me without permission. Know your place."
Kim rolled her eyes and sighed heavily. "That's it!" She cried, "I think you need to remember your place here."
Charlotte's eyes narrowed. "How dare you-"
"No! How dare you!" Kim interrupted, "You preach about decorum and knowing your place, but you are a hypocrite! You have not shown me any respect since we met and you treat me like dirt."
Kim's eyes flashed green and she took a breath to calm herself down.
"Alright, look. Yes, I'm a princess. Yes, I am from Earth. And YES I understand that Rayon is different to Earth, but that doesn't mean you can treat me or Emily like this, Charlotte."
Emily stifled laughter at Charlotte's expression.
"THIS IS WHAT I MEAN!" She hollered, "You cannot speak to others this way."
"What? You mean honest?" Kim replied
"No! Like you know everything and what you say goes and-"
"Like how you're acting?" Kim asked, "If I'm the princess and you are the advisor where is the respect? You're teaching me about decorum but you haven't shown me any respect. You're out of line, Charlotte. Treat people like how you want to be treated."
Charlotte was silent. So was Kim. And so was Emily. The three lapsed into tense awkward silence. When Charlotte didn't back down Kim finally spoke, her voice hard.
"I see." She said, "Charlotte, Emily, I will not require your services for the remainder of the day. Classes are over."
With that, Kim walked over to the South entrance to the ballroom and opened the doors. Before she walked through she looked back at Charlotte and Emily. While one looked awkward, the other was angry. Kim sighed and walked out into the hallway, shutting the door behind her.
As soon as the door closed Kim leaned against it and heard Charlotte yelling at Emily and talking about Kim.
"Princess."
Kim jumped and suddenly noticed that two guards stood on either side of the doors. They bowed low before speaking once more.
"Are you alright?" One of them asked
Kim nodded. "Yes." She replied, "I believe so. Thank you…"
One of the knights, a tall slim man with orange skin and yellow eyes saluted with a smile. "Edmund, your highness."
Kim nodded and smiled. "Edmund. Thank you, Edmund." She looked over at the other guard.
The second guard looked guarded. His face was tense, his eyes betraying the conflict Kim knew was going on in his head. His eyes looked over at Edmund before looking back at Kim.
"Jesire, princess." He finally revealed
Kim stared at Jesire long and hard. Finally she smiled and nodded at him. "I understand your feelings towards me, Jesire." She said, startling him, "But I implore you to get to know me before passing judgment."
With that, Kim nodded at the guards before she walked down the hallway. The guards watched her go in silence. Edmund looked over at Jesire with a smirk. "See, she's not bad at all. And personally, being a half-blood myself, it'll be great having one as my queen."
Jesire didn't respond. He watched Kim's retreating back long and hard. Finally, a genuine smirk appeared on his face. "I believe, you are right, my friend."
Charlotte took a deep breath once Emily ran out of the room.
"I have to serve that half-blood?" She hissed, "She is not fit to bare the royal name nor sit atop the throne."
"You are not alone there."
Charlotte spun around and saw Renaldo enter the room. He smirked at her as she bowed her head. "My Lord," She gasped, "How much did you hear?"
Renaldo smirked. "Enough." He answered, "But you are not alone in the dislike of the half-blood princesses."
Charlotte's eyes widened. "You too, My Lord?"
Renaldo nodded, an evil smirk appearing on his face. "Yes. And I believe I could use your assistance in removing the problem."
Charlotte smirked. "What did you need from me, My Lord?"
Emily was walking through the east wing of the castle, many thoughts running around her head. Once Kim had left Charlotte had turned her anger on the poor assistant. When Emily had enough she fled the room.
Emily was so deep in thought she didn't notice that she had entered the throne room. She stopped short when her gaze landed at the sight of Kim standing in the middle of the room, her gaze on the portrait of Queen Erika and her husband.
"Princess?"
Kim jumped and turned around to face Emily. She smiled. "Sorry Emily," She apologised sheepishly, "I didn't hear anyone come in."
"Would you like me to leave?"
Kim shook her head. "No, it's alright." She looked at Emily for a moment before speaking again, "Thank you. For defending me against Charlotte."
Emily's eyes widened. "Of course, your highness." She bowed her head, "As a humble subject it is my duty to help you."
Kim smiled. "Would you, therefore, be willing to continue today's lesson? Alone, of course."
Emily gasped. "But I am merely Charlotte's assistant!"
"Exactly."
After much convincing Kim was finally able to have someone nice to teach her today's lesson. Emily dragged two chairs to the centre of the room and taught Kim about carrying herself.
"When walking in a crowd, one is under scrutiny all the time." Emily explained
Emily suddenly dropped her shoulders and hunched her neck a little and walked around the chairs.
"So we don't shlump like this." She said
Kim's eyes glinted mischeviously. "Alright, I get it. I have bad posture." She laughed
Emily giggled. "You must carry yourself proudly. Act like nothing fazes you that you are always in control. If you portray that everyone around you will believe you. And they will follow. It's important to carry yourself in this way, so that when you enter a room you always command attention and respect."
Emily adjusted Kim's shoulders and neck and gave her a gently shove halfway across the room. "Try it, princess."
Kim then walked back towards Emily. Her hips moved side to side and her feet glided, one in front of the other, and her hands moved like tree branches blowing. Emily laughed at Kim's jokes.
"We do not walk as trees." Emily said when Kim stood in front of her again.
Kim nodded and walked back across the room to try again. This time Kim walked across, her body tense, her hands at her sides. Each stride she took she lifted her knees up high in a march.
"You're not a soldier preparing for war." Emily giggled
Kim stood in front of Emily. She brought one of her knees up to her chest and slammed it back to the ground. As she did so she saluted.
"Ma'am, yes ma'am!" Kim yelled
Emily cackled with laughter and doubled over, Kim soon joining her.
10 minutes later
"We drop the shoulders and we think tall." Emily told Kim when they had composed themselves.
Emily and Kim sat in the chairs in the middle of the room and faced in front of them.
"We tuck under-"
"Tuck what?" Kim asked
"Well, we place one foot behind the other, like this." Emily demonstrated, "So our right knee is tucked behind the left knee."
Kim followed and nodded for her to continue, trying to copy the actions, though her big dress was making it difficult.
"And we transfer the weight from one foot to-" Emily stopped when she heard a loud thump.
Emily looked down and saw Kim had fallen over the chair and to the floor. She stifled her laughter and smiled.
"I think that's enough for today." She said
Donnie was totally confused as to Violet's actions that evening. He went up to the apartment and searched everywhere, then looked back in the girls' lair and searched and was really tired when he got back to his lair. Lilly, Mikey and Leo were watching a movie in the living room and looked up to see if he had found Violet yet.
"Couldn't find her, Donnie?" Lilly asked
Donnie shook his head no and sighed and sat down beside Mikey on the couch.
"Why did she orb away, anyway?" Leo asked
"I said I was sorry!" Mikey cried
"It wasn't you, Mikey." Violet said from behind the four.
Everyone jumped in surprise and turned to face Violet.
"It was me. You didn't do anything wrong. I'm sorry if I made you think you did." Violet apologised
"It's cool, dudette." Mikey answered
"What's wrong, Vi?" Donnie asked, walking over to her.
Violet just grabbed his hand and led him to the dojo so they could talk privately.
"What are they talking about?" Mikey asked
"Violet's talking to Donnie about affection." Lilly replied
"How can you tell?" Leo asked
"Because it's all over her face." Lilly answered sadly.
Donnie closed the dojo doors behind him and Vi and crossed his arms casually. Violet didn't look at him.
"What's wrong, Vi?"
"It's stupid." Vi answered so quietly that Donnie just heard it.
He walked over to her and gently pulled her into a hug.
"Nothing you say or feel is stupid, Vi. Tell me what's wrong." Donnie whispered into her hair.
"Sometimes I'm jealous of my sisters." She whispered
Donnie pulled away slightly and looked her in the eyes.
"Why's that?" He asked
Violet didn't say anything and looked back down.
"Vi, you can tell me anything."
Violet sighed and looked into Donnie's eyes.
"I'm jealous because…because I…." Violet sighed again, "Because they know how each other feels." She admitted
Donnie was confused. "But, don't you know what they're feeling, too?" He asked
"No, I mean yes, I do-"
"Then what-"
"I was talking about you and me, Donnie." Violet clarified
"Again, I'm still not-"
"Lilly knows how Mikey feels by always kissing her in and out of the public's eye, Kim knows how Leo feels because he always tells her and Riley knows how Raph feels about her because…I'm not going to finish that sentence." Violet admitted with a shiver at the thought of Riley and Raph.
"You don't think-" Donnie started, but couldn't finish.
Violet shrugged. "I don't know what to think, that's the problem." She answered honestly.
"Oh, Vi." Donnie whispered, pulling Violet close to him and hugging her tightly. "I'm sorry. I'm so sorry. I didn't know you felt that way. I mean, I know you love me, because you tell me so all the time and I just never noticed…I'm such an idiot."
Violet giggled a little and pulled away from Donnie slightly.
"That's weird coming from you. I don't like you calling yourself that."
"But it's true. I'm sorry, Vi. I promise I'll let you know how I feel 24/7. You mean the world to me and I can't believe I have you. And since we're being honest…" Donnie carried out before he roughly pulled Violet against him so his mouth was just by her ear. "I think you're the most beautiful, sexiest and smartest girl I've ever seen and known. You have the most gorgeous dark blue eyes I've ever seen and every time I stare into them, I always get lost in them, every single time. You have a big heart that cares for everyone and everything in this world and I'm almost positive that you must be blind to fall in love with me. When we were friends I used to imagine what it would be like holding you close and being the one able to kiss you and be there for you, the one to catch you when you fall. I wanted to know what it was like to thread my hands through your hair or caress your cheek or…dare I say it…what it would be like to be the luckiest guy in the universe to sleep with you. Now that I am the one able to do those things, I am only realising now that I'm not doing any of those things." Donnie whispered huskily against Violet's ear as he started threading his hand through her hair. "Vi, you are my world and I don't want to lose you. I can't believe how much time we've wasted. I love you so much." Donnie finished, pulling away from Vi to stare into her beautiful eyes.
Violet smiled bashfully and brightly at Donnie and whispered suggestively into his ear. "Well, maybe we should make up for lost time."
Donnie's only response was to cup her face and fuse their lips together in a passionate kiss. Violet encircled her arms around Donnie's neck as his hands came to rest on her hips to pull her closer. Before either of them knew it, Violet orbed them into Donnie's room to continue their make out session.
It was 8pm when Kim finally arrived, her attire back to its normal jeans and shirt. Kim looked around the lair and saw that Leo, Mikey and Lilly were watching a movie. They hadn't noticed her come in, so she decided to sneak up on them. She tiptoed over to the couch the three sat on and ducked down. She saw that they were watching a horror and tried hard not to laugh. Kim slowly lifted her head in between Mikey and Lilly and jumped up and yelled at the top of lungs.
"BOO!"
Mikey and Lilly screamed in terror, jumping up and holding onto each other. Kim noticed Leo had also jumped quite high and started laughing so hard she was crying.
"So much for ninja skills." Kim taunted when she had calmed down.
"Not funny." Lilly pouted even though a smile was creeping its way onto her lips.
Kim shrugged and walked over to Leo and sat on his lap, her arms around his neck.
"Hello." She said
"Hello." He replied, before pecking her on the lips. "How was today?"
Kim groaned and dropped her head onto Leo's shoulder.
"People don't like me because I'm a half-blood." She groaned
Leo raised an eye ridge. "Half-blood?" He asked
"Anyone who's half Rayonian." Kim explained, "Apparently being half mortal makes me public enemy number 1. I have to work extra hard to earn everyone's respect or else they'll reject me and the girls."
"Don't try so hard then." Leo advised, "If they don't like you then no harm done."
Kim lifted her head up at him. "If I lose the throne I will never live up to mum's memory. She will be disappointed in me."
"Don't worry Kim!" Lilly encouraged, "How much worse can it get?" Leo asked
'That's what I'm afraid of.' Kim thought before she drifted off to sleep on Leo's shoulder.
The last thing Kim heard before she fell asleep was Mikey's shocked cry.
"You've just jinxed her, babe!"
