Percy POV

After the talk with my mom, I knew what I had to do. The problem was getting up the courage to do it. It took me two days before I finally could convince myself to seek out the daughter of Athena. I decided that she had the right to know before any of our other friends. Besides, I had a feeling that if she heard from someone other than me I'd be in no small amount of trouble.

I took a deep breath and knock on the door. There was no answer for almost a full minute before I knocked again. I had begun to think that no one was home, when I heard footsteps on the stairs.

When the door finally opened I was greeted by the daughter of Athena. Judging by the pencil behind her ear and the fact that she still had a ruler in her hand, I had interrupted her in the middle of a project.

She looked a little shocked to see me. She smiled. "Hey Sea-weed Brain. I'm surprised to see you here."

I shuffled uncomfortable. That was rather obvious statement of the fact that I didn't come to visit my friends enough anymore. I rubbed the back of my neck and gave her a smile. "Sorry about that."

She shrugged. "It's okay. What do you need? If you're looking for Jason, he's not here. He's meeting Juventas in Los Angeles to talk about her temple."

"No. I um..." I took a deep breath and tried to get rid of my nerves. "Actually I'm here to talk to you."

Wisdoms daughter looked surprised. I couldn't really blame her. Our relationship was better than it was a few months ago, but we still rarely hung out when it was just the two of us.

"Oh. Okay, come on in."

She stepped aside and gestured for me to follow her into the kitchen. She went to the fridge and grabbed two bottles of water and offered me one. "Are you thirsty?"

I decided not to mention that I didn't get thirsty anymore. I smiled and took it. "Thanks."

"No problem."

We drifted into a semi-awkward silence. I took a sip of my water, more for something to do than the actual desire to do it. I could tell that she was waiting for me to explain why I came to see her, but now that I was here I found it hard to make myself talk.

"So how are the temples going?"

She could clearly tell that wasn't actually what I came here to talk about, but she decided to play along. "They're going really good. They finished Khione temple and they're already mostly done building Somnia's temple too. I'm just about finished the designs for Discordia. I should be finished by Tuesday and since Jason will be back this evening with any requests that Juventas has for her temple, I'll be able to start it as soon as I'm done."

I smiled. "That's awesome. You guys are getting better at this."

She nodded. "It got a lot better once Jason started talking to them before I started planning. The first temple he waited until I had already finished my first set of plans. We thought that they would prefer to have an idea of what it could look like before we started, but Kymopoleia hated the first design. She pretty much wanted to change everything. After that, we both agreed that it would be best if we asked their opinions before I invested 80 plus hours into a design."

"Sounds like a better idea." I went back to playing with the lid of my bottle. I knew I could only put it off for so long, but it was even harder than I thought it would be.

I heard her sigh and I looked up to see her giving me an impatient look. "Alright Percy, just say it already."

"I..." I found myself drawing a blank. I closed my eyes and just blurted it out. "I'mseeingsomeone..."

For a second I thought I said it too quickly. I could barely understand it, but I guess Annabeth was used to talking to me.

"Oh..." I cracked one eye and looked at her. She seemed a little bit stunned. She shook her head and gave me a smile. She tried to make it seem genuine, but I could tell it was a little forced. "I'm happy for you Percy."

I frowned. "You don't really seem that happy."

She sighed. "Well, I'm not going to lie. I didn't expect that, but you are my friend. I really am glad that you found someone. What's her name? Do I know her?"

I winced and rubbed the back of my neck. "It's... not a 'her'."

"Oh..." She looked even more stunned than when I first told her. She stood there absorbing what I had just said for a few seconds before her eyes widened. "OH!" She gave me a look that was half shock, half amusement. "It's Fred, isn't it?"

It was my turn to be surprised. "How did you..."

She rolled her eyes. "Well, I am a daughter of Athena. It's kinda easy to guess. I've never seen you that close to a guy before. I mean you already flirt with him. So if you are suddenly going out with a male, he definitely makes the most sense."

I just knew that I was blushing. "Well, ya. It's Fred."

She didn't look the least bit surprised when I confirmed it. She just shook her head and chuckled. "So how long have you been going out?"

I winced. I was really hoping that she wouldn't ask me that. "Just about two weeks."

"Really? Why didn't you tell me sooner?" She was trying to hide it but I could tell she was hurt.

"I wanted to tell you, I promise. I just... didn't know how."

She didn't look very happy with my answer. "You know I would accept you no matter what."

I felt really guilty. "I know. I never thought that you wouldn't. I just didn't want to hurt you."

She sighed and shook her head. "Well I can't say I'm glad that you didn't tell me, but I do understand why. I really am happy that you've found someone Percy. It was a bit of a shock to find out it was Fred, but it also makes sense. I may not be as close to him as you are, but it's obvious that he likes you a lot. I'm glad that you found someone who cares about you as much as he does. You deserve that."

I felt myself blush again. Was I honestly the only one who couldn't tell that he liked me? "Thanks Wise Girl."

She smiled. "I'll always be here for you. No matter what you want to talk about. That's what friends are for, kelp brain." I laughed at the old nickname. "So tell me though? Am I the last one to find out? Because if everyone else knew and didn't tell me, I'm going to be mad."

I shook my head. "Actually you're the first one I've told. Fred told Calypso, but she's the only one other than my mom who knows."

Annabeth gave me a look. "Seriously Percy? You have to tell them, and soon. It won't take them very long to figure it out, if they haven't already done so."

"I know. I just wanted to tell you first."

"I do appreciate that." Wisdoms daughter smiled at me and pushed my shoulder. "Go grab Fred and bring him back here around 6. I'll call everyone else to come over for dinner. You can tell them then."

I winced. "Do I have to do it tonight?" The look that she gave me answered my question. "Okay, bye. I'll see you in a few hours."

"See you then Percy, and by the way? Congratulations."

Apollo POV

I could tell that Percy was nervous. I didn't want to ask again because I knew it was getting on his nerves, but I couldn't help myself.

"Are you sure Percy?

The son of Poseidon frowned at me, but even when he was trying to hide it, I could still see his anxiety. "Seriously Fred. If I wasn't sure, would I be here?"

I thought about several different answers, but I settled for the one that was most correct. "Yes. If you thought that it was what either I or your friends wanted, then you would."

I could tell that he wanted to disagree, but at the same time he knew I was right. He sighed. "I would be lying if I said I wasn't nervous, but I'm also sure that I want to do this."

I wrapped an arm around his shoulder and placed a quick peck on his cheek. "They're your friends Perce. They aren't going to look at you any different."

"I know... but that doesn't make it any less weird. I thought I was straight my whole life. I can honestly say that this wasn't a conversation that I ever saw coming."

He looked me in the eye, and I couldn't help but start to smile. My grin only grew bigger when Percy closed the distance between us to steal a kiss. It wasn't as long as I'd like, but the fact was this was the first time he'd ever kissed me in public. I felt my heart stutter slightly as I leaned in and snuck a second quick kiss.

Before I could try to deepen in, Percy pulled away. Rather than letting me go completely like I would have expected, he entwined out hands. I couldn't help the way that my heart seemed to expand at his actions.

I looked at my boyfriend and felt myself melt. "For what it's worth, I'm glad that you're telling them."

He gave me one of his blinding smiles and tugged on my hand, leading us towards the house once more, "Me too."

ΩΩΩ

Annabeth opened the door and gave us a knowing smile. I was surprised earlier when Percy told me that he had talked to Annabeth. I hadn't expected him to do it quite yet. I figured he would need at least a couple more weeks before he got up the nerve. Once he told me he had talked to his mom though, it made more sense. The more I got to know about his mom, the more I liked her.

The daughter of Athena led us to the living room. Everyone else was already there. Judging by the fact that Percy stopped in the entry way rather than continuing to the couch, told me he wanted to get the announcement over as soon as possible.

After being forced to wait weeks to be able to tell them, I had sort of expected Percy to make a speech of some kind. Instead, he just looked at his friends, before reaching out and taking my hand.

To their credit, it only took them a few seconds to get it.

The son of Jupiter stood up in surprise. "Holy Juno! You guys finally figured it out?"

The son of Hephaestus looked confused. "Wait, figured what out."

His girlfriend rolled her eyes. "Really Leo?"

The daughter of Bellona smiled at us before she turned to give the son of Mars a triumphant look, "I told you. Pay up guys..."

The son of Poseidon looked at his friend in confusion. "What do you mean, you told them?"

Reyna shrugged. "I've had a feeling that there was more than friendship going on between you two in the last couple weeks."

The youngest god looked to the son of Mars. "And you bet against her?"

Frank looked incredibly guilty. "Not exactly... I was betting that you had been together since your valentines date." He quickly backtracked when he saw Percy's face. "But there were more than just me and Reyna betting on it."

Percy shook his head in disbelief. "Who else was in on this?"

The daughter of Aphrodite raised a guilty hand. "My bet was that, though you weren't together yet, you'd get together before summer."

"But you were one of the one's who told me that I should talk to Fred!"

Piper raised one eyebrow and gave the son of the sea god an unimpressed look. "Do you really think that I would give bad advice to my friends just to win some stupid bet?"

Judging by the sheepish look Percy was giving her, he felt bad about his question. I decided that it was time to step in and save my boyfriend. I stepped forward and wrapped my arm around his shoulder.

"So no one trusted us? Didn't anyone think that we were just friends?"

Hazel raised her hand. "That's what I thought you were."

The son of Poseidon beamed at the daughter of Pluto. "Finally, someone who didn't know what was going on before I did. I'm sitting with you."

My boyfriend practically threw himself on the couch next to Hazel. The way he was shooting everyone dirty looks as they passed Reyna her winnings nearly made me laugh. I was surprised that his friends were so perceptive, but it made sense. They were the greatest heroes of their generation for a reason.

Rather than letting my petulant sea-prince sulk about what his friends thought, I decided to sit with him. I went over and claimed the arm of the couch next to him and wrapped my arm tightly around his shoulders. The way he relaxed a little and looked up at me with a grateful smile told me that my message had been received.

No matter what, he wasn't alone in this. I would be with him, no matter how many people he had to come-out to.
