Apollo POV
The dinner party was winding down. After the bombshell that Percy had dropped earlier, things calmed down considerably. It probably had something to do with the fact that they mostly knew anyway, but it was still a relief.
I would never have said anything to the son of the sea god, but I was a little anxious about how his friends would react. I knew without a doubt that they would support their friend, but that didn't necessarily mean that they would want him with me. I couldn't even hope to keep track of how many friends, or siblings, or parents, of my previous partners had disapproved of me. They may have liked my before, back when Percy and I were just friends, but that didn't specifically mean that they would support us now. Besides, I knew how much Percy's friends meant to him. He would want them to support of us. Having them approve not only of me, but also of my relationship with Percy, meant more to me than any of them could possibly guess.
That wasn't to say though, that I didn't get the expected talk.

I left Percy on the couch, talking to the daughter of Pluto and Calypso, while I went to go get a bottle of water from the fridge. I was getting much better at the whole 'remembering to eat and drink' thing, but I still thought it took up far too much time. I couldn't even begin to understand how humans had accomplished so much when almost half of their day was taken up by sleeping, washing, eating, and cooking. It was ridiculous.
I took a big sip of water and sighed. There was one very small plus side to mortality. The feeling of satisfaction that a glass of water could provide was immense for such a simple thing.
I was just about to head back into the living room when I was joined by Jason, Annabeth, and Reyna. The instant I took in their stances, I knew what they were there for. I almost felt like laughing. This conversation was one I had countless times before, but I would let them say what they felt like they needed to.
I raised an eyebrow and smiled, inviting them to speak. The son of Jupiter chose to speak first. "Listen, Fred. We can all see that you care about Percy, but he is our friend. So we thought it only fair to warn you..."
He looked at the daughter of Wisdom. She nodded and continued for him. This speech had clearly been rehearsed.
"Percy is one of my oldest friends. We have literally been through Tartarus and back together. We are very protective of each other. I do believe that you like him a lot, but I've also seen you flirt with pretty much everyone in New Rome."
I frowned at the implications of her statement. Suddenly this conversation didn't seem nearly as funny as it had a moment ago. I may have never had a long relationship, but I wasn't the kind of god to stray. Percy meant far more to me already than any number of one night stands ever could.
"I would never hurt Percy like that."
Annabeth nodded. "Good, then you have nothing to worry about. If you ever do find yourself in that position though, just remember what I said." She narrowed her eyes and fixed me with a glare that her mother would have been proud of. "Because I swear on the Styx that if you hurt him, you will find out just what happens to those who cross the descendants of Athena."
With that said, she nodded to the daughter of Bellona who stepped forward for her chance to speak. "Percy is a great warrior, but he's also a member of the Twelfth Legion Fulminata. The people of New Rome protect their own. If you hurt him, I swear on the Tiber that you will not find safe refuge in Camp Jupiter, not as long as I or any who know him live."
I was very surprised by Reyna's threat. The other two may simply have known me as Fred, but the daughter of Rome knew perfectly well who I really was. She knew that I was one of the most powerful gods in both the Roman and Greek pantheons. The fact that she cared enough about her friend to risk my wrath to protect him said a lot about her loyalty.
I nodded to her. It was both a silent promise to do my best to never hurt him, and recognition of the bravery it took to threaten a god. I was fairly certain that she understood both messages.
My half brother gave me a serious look. "If you don't already enough reasons not to hurt him though, I'll remind you. Percy has a lot of friends at Camp Half-Blood too, including the son of Hades. Since he's not here to tell you himself I think it only fair to warn you on his behalf. If you so much as think about breaking Percy heart, Nico will gladly make your life a living hell."
I internally winced. I had already gotten that impression from the son of the underworld the last time we met. He seemed to have a special fondness for my sea-prince. He wasn't someone I'd been too keen on angering. He seemed to have inherited his father's temper as well as powers.
It was a moot point though. I shook my head. "I have no desire to hurt Percy. I care about him, a lot. I can promise you, I intend to do everything in my power to make sure that he is happy."
The children of Jupiter and Athena smiled and Reyna looked relieved.
The golden boy rubbed the back of his neck, looking slightly awkward now that their messages had been delivered. "Sorry to go all overprotective on you. We just want him to be happy."
I smiled and shook my head. "I don't mind, I am glad that he has someone to watch out for him. You know, not everyone is so loyal. I am glad that Percy has friends like you."
Wisdoms daughter shrugged. "What can we say? He inspires loyalty."
I was even more surprised that she had come to talk to me than I was at Reyna's threat. She may have been trying to hide it, but I could see the pain in her eyes. She clearly knew that her relationship with the son of the sea god was over a few months ago, but that didn't mean that she was ready to see him with someone else yet. And she still came to talk to me to make sure I treated him well. I felt my respect for the daughter of Athena, grow.
The son of Jupiter tossed his head towards the living room where the rest of the group was. "Come on, we should get back before Percy comes in and yells at us for threatening his boyfriend."
I smiled at the term. I wasn't sure I'd ever get used to knowing that Percy was mine. I followed the three back. When we stepped into the living room, the young god immediately turned to me. The incredibly embarrassed expression on his face told me that he had most likely heard exactly what was said.
I just smiled as I took my seat again.
The young god was certainly lucky to have so many good friends.

Authors Note
I did not see the 'hurt him you die' talk coming. Maybe I was the only one, but it caught me by surprise. LOL. I also had intended for this chapter to be their first date, but considering the talk is ¾ the length of my regular chapters I ran out of time. So I do apologize for this short chapter and lack of a first date, but the next chapter should be much longer than regular and super fluffy!
Next update will be February 24th
Next Chapter:
I couldn't remember the last time I had been so nervous for a date...
