April 13th
Apollo POV
My head hit the ground so hard, I swear I saw stars. I had no idea where my sword had gone, but it didn't really matter once I felt a boot place itself on my chest. My attacker casually lined up the tip of his sword to my throat.
"Congratulations! You just won an all expense paid trip to the underworld."
All I could do was groan. "You know, you're supposed to be kind to your boyfriend."
The son of Poseidon just rolled his eyes. He removed his foot and put Riptide away. "In training I'm not. Unless of course your plan is to simply flirt with the monsters and hope they don't eat you. I've got to say though; I don't think it will work."
I gave him the best scandalized look I could while still lying on the dirt. "Are you saying that you don't think I'm sexy?"
The young god snorted and offered me his hand. "I'm not saying that, but I am saying I don't like your chances of wooing a fury."
I accepted the hand and pulled myself up. I was covered in dirt but after eight days of intense training, I had given up on bothering to dust off my armor every time. I was sure to be knocked down again in a few minutes, so what was the point? After our conversation over a week ago about training, the son of Poseidon had agreed to increase our sparring practices from 3 times a week to daily. In addition to Percy teaching me swordsmanship, the son of Poseidon had started joining me at the archery range whenever I went.
The youngest god was obviously making progress with his aim, but he was still struggling. The plus side to his difficulty though, was that now he was my boyfriend. I gladly used his poor aim as an excuse to help him draw back the bow. I had always wanted to try recreating the archery scene from Princess Diary's two. With the son of Poseidon, I finally had an excuse to do so.
I stretched my sore arms behind my back and winced when I heard something crack. I looked back to the son of the sea god and smirked. "I think you're underestimating just how incredibly good looking your boyfriend is. Fury or not, no one can deny that I'm hot."
He just laughed. "Alright, saying you could make a Fury fall in love with you. What are you going to do when she tries to kiss you?"
I shuddered at the mental image he'd supplied. "Okay, fair point."
My sea prince wrapped his arms around my waist and shook his head. "Trust me. I know exactly how frustrated you are right now, but you've gotten way better. A couple more months of training and you'll be ready to test your skills in the real world."
I sighed. I knew he was right, but that didn't change the fact that it was disheartening to constantly be getting knocked down by someone a fraction of my age, even if said person was the greatest hero of the era
"I never had to practice this much when I learned to use a bow."
The son of Poseidon rolled his eyes. "Well that's because you were born with the ability to shoot. This is how normal people have to learn how to do things, hours upon hours of practice. You're actually picking it up rather quickly. I wasn't half as good as you are when I was starting out."
"You were also twelve. I think that makes it a little different."
He shrugged but didn't argue. I shook my head. There was no point in complaining over how long it was taking to learn. It was a conversation we'd had dozens of times. Instead of wasting more time, I just stole a kiss from the son of the sea god and walked over to pick up my sword.
I turned back to the young god and took my stance. "Let's try again, shall we?"

Percy POV
I knew that the sun god was getting fairly good with a sword. I just didn't know how to prove it to him. Yes I was still better, but I had to exert an effort to beat him now, which was something I didn't need to do when we first started training. Part of that was due to the fact that he was far most used to his mortal limitations, but most of it was due to our training.
After our sparring session, the god of music went off to join his Archery club for practice. Usually I would tag along and use one of the empty ranges to practice my own less that amazing skills, but today I decided to go for a walk around the city instead. I was hoping that being outside would help me think of something to help Apollo.
So far, I had come up with absolutely nothing. I had never trained anyone like this before. At Camp Half-Blood I usually either practiced alone or with the Ares cabin. The few times I had trained someone, I was more like one of those guest speakers that they would occasionally bring into schools. I talked for a bit, showed them a few things, and then left. I could show someone what to do, but I wasn't exactly cut out for the motivational stuff.
I was walking along one of the main roads when I saw Reyna. She was talking with a small group of people. I recognized them from around Camp, but the only one I could name was Erin. Normally I would have stopped to at least say hi to my friend, but since she was busy I decided to leave her be.
I sighed and rubbed the back of my neck as I began to walk away. I started to question whether or not training Apollo myself was a good idea. I wanted to help my friend, but I clearly wasn't very qualified. I probably should have asked one of the others to do it. Annabeth and Jason were both too busy, but Hazel probably would have done it. Or maybe even Frank, though both he and Reyna were rather busy with their Praetor duties too. I knew if I asked, they would have helped, but I also knew they were beyond busy. Not only were they responsible for leading Camp Jupiter, but they were also part of the senate. Plus Frank trained all the new demigods who wanted to learn archery, and Reyna led a group that taught young kids the basics of swordsmanship. If I had thought of asking her, she probably would even have let him join that group. It probably would have been much better for him to be learning with others anyway.
I felt my spine stiffen. I suddenly had a brilliant idea. I knew exactly what Apollo needed. I walked over to the group and waited for her to notice me. Once she did, I smiled. "Hey Reyna, can I talk to you for a minute?"
She gave me a curious look, but nodded. She excused herself from her friends and walked over to me. "Hello Percy."
I rubbed the back of my neck and just decided to get straight to the point. "I need a favour from you. You train the new arrivals right?"
The brown eyed girl nodded. "Yes. Why?"
"Do you think there's any way that Fred could join a class or two with them?"
The daughter of Bellona looked confused. "I suppose so, but I don't understand why he'd want to. I've seen the two of you training. He doesn't need the beginner class. Maybe he would have when you first started training him, but not anymore. He's more of an intermediate now then a true fledgling."
I nodded. "I know, and that's the problem. I told him that, but he doesn't seem to believe me. He's getting depressed because he's still losing to me every time."
She frowned. "Well of course he would. Not only have you been training for years, but you are also one of the best swordsmen I've seen."
I knew that we weren't alone, so I had to think over my words carefully. I had never really spoken very much to her about Fred's true identity, but I knew she was aware of who he really was.
"I think it's because he took to archery so naturally. He's not used to progressing so slowly."
The way her eyes widened slightly told me that she had understood what I meant. "I... suppose that would make sense. Well, he is certainly welcome to join. Are you sure he wants to though?"
I shrugged. "Probably not, but it'll be good for him to see. Don't worry about him not wanting to go though; I'll take care of that part."

This chapter was going to be longer, but I got distracted by the Star Trek fanfictions again and ran out of time.

Next Chapter:
I wasn't sure exactly what I thought of this plan. Yes, I could see the obvious benefits, but I wasn't sure what I thought about the group I'd be sparing with.
