Chapter 16 – Strike 2 Part 1
It was night back in Rayon. The stars lit up the night sky, the florescent lights of the futuristic city shining over the brick that was the palace. Through the darkness of the Rayonian palace, while all residents but the guards were asleep, one Rayonian was wide awake. His evil, malicious laughter echoed down the halls and came from Lord Renaldo's chambers.
"Poor little princess." Renaldo sneered as he stood over a black cauldron, which replayed Kim's disastrous day while reviewing the royal guards. "It seems you have been cursed by bad luck." He chuckled, "I wonder who cursed you with the Bad Luck Curse?"
Renaldo walked over to his bed where a blank wall was situated to the left of it. He raised his arm across the air in front of him and the wall magically opened to reveal a few wooden shelves filled with jars and vials of ingredients. He took a jar of bat wings, and two vials of different coloured liquids. He walked back over to the cauldron and started pouring one of the coloured liquids into the cauldron.
"Your wedding will never happen now!" He laughed evilly as he added the remaining ingredients into the cauldron. "Show me my princess." He hissed as the potion started showing the girls in the turtles' lair.
"Okay let's go over this again." Kim announced as she, Lilly and Violet sat around the coffee table in the living room in the turtles' lair.
"Not again!" Lilly groaned, slamming her head onto the table. "Kim, we've been over this a dozen times already."
Kim looked over at her sister and glared. "Look, I'm sorry, but I was given 30 days to plan and have a wedding so EXCUSE ME for making sure every last detail is perfect!" Kim sighed and rubbed her temples. "I need some tea." She said before she stood up and walked over to the kitchen.
"She's cranky." Riley's muffled voice mused as she laid on the couch with her face in a pillow.
Lilly nodded and looked over at Violet. "She's been acting very moody lately. It's suspicious."
Violet raised an eyebrow at her sister. "No it's not. Out of the 30-day limit we've been given, we only used 14 days of it for planning." She said, "Kim's wedding is tomorrow, Lilly. I don't blame her for being…" Violet carried off.
"Bitchy?" Riley added, her face still buried in her pillow.
"Insane?" Lilly chimed in.
"Stressed." Violet corrected her two sisters. "And I think it's a good thing that she hasn't become a bridezilla."
"That's open to interpretation." Riley spoke up again.
Lilly ignored her sisters as Violet and Riley began arguing amongst themselves. Her focus was on the sister walking out of the kitchen with a mug of green tea in her hand. She was suspicious of her sister's behaviour and her thoughts went back to what Albert said during training.
"An unborn infant can interfere with one's powers. It can stop them all together, change it into something else or cause a loss of control."
Lilly continued to watch as Kim sat on the couch beside Riley and stopped her sisters' feud.
'Surely you're not pregnant.' She thought
Kim drank some of her tea and looked over at Lilly with a small smile. "You okay there, sis?" She asked
Lilly blinked and looked up at her sister. "Yeah. Yeah, I'm okay. You?"
Kim nodded. "Better, thanks. I'm sorry for snapping at you."
"It's okay. I get it. You're stressed." Lilly replied before everyone looked over at Riley as she moaned in pain.
"Riley?" Violet gasped as she moved to sit beside Riley. She touched Riley head gently as she moaned again in pain into her pillow. "What's wrong?"
Riley turned her head to face Violet and grimaced. "I have a migraine." She hissed and clenched her eyes shut tight.
Violet looked over Riley in concern and noticed she was very pale, her hands were a little cold and she had dark circles under her eyes.
"You're ill." Violet said, "It must be from your lack of sleep from those dreams of yours." She smiled, "You need Raph."
"Where is he?" Kim asked
Violet looked down at her watch.
'2pm.' She thought with a smile before looking up at the second level of the lair.
"Raph!" She cried, "Raph! Get down here now!"
Raph's bedroom door opened and he looked over the railing to see Lilly, Violet and Kim sitting beside Riley. His eyes widened and he leaped over the railing and landed softly on the ground.
"What's wrong?" He demanded as he ran over to Riley.
Violet placed a hand on his shoulder and gave a small smile. "Don't worry, Raph. She's just not well."
Raph looked at Violet with a raised eye ridge. "She looks like shit."
Riley gave a weak chuckle. "Thanks honey." She whispered
"She's not well, she's gotten no sleep these last few days and she's stressed." Violet explained, "The only time she's standing still is when you're with her."
Raph nodded. "Gotcha." He said before he stood up and carefully lifted Riley into his arms bridal style. "I'll look after her. I promise."
"Thanks Raph." The girls said before he walked back to his room and gently closed the door behind him.
The girls looked at each other sadly.
"I hope she gets well soon." Kim said
"Yeah, specifically before your wedding." Lilly smiled, "You nervous?"
"Terrified." Kim replied before her phone started ringing. "I'll be back." She said as she walked into the kitchen and answered her phone.
Violet turned to Lilly with a smile. "I think I know a way to calm our lovely bride-to-be down."
"How?" Lilly asked
"A spell." Violet replied, "Once the guys leave for patrol we'll meet down here and cast a spell to relieve Kim of her nerves."
"Deal." Lilly smiled, unaware of the villain watching over her.
Renaldo smirked wide and evilly at the events that unfolded before him. He waved his arm across the cauldron and the scene disappeared.
"This could work to my advantage." He laughed evilly, "I hope you're ready."
Later that night
Violet quietly opened Donnie's door and looked around. She walked out and closed the door behind her, noticing Lilly walking out of Mikey's room and accidently slamming his door.
"Shush!" Violet hissed, "We don't want to wake Riley or Kim."
"Sorry it was an accident." Lilly whispered
"Lets just get this done before the guys get home from patrol." Violet whispered back before the two sisters quietly walked down the stairs and entered the living room.
"Are you sure this is a good idea, Vi? What if something bad happens?" Lilly asked as she helped Violet move furniture away from the centre of the room.
"What could possibly happen?" Violet replied, "It's a simple stress reliever spell."
Violet and Lilly finished moving furniture and Violet used her magic to conjure a cauldron in the centre of the room. She snapped her fingers and a scroll appeared in her hands.
"I found this in the Rayonian library, so it should be fine." Violet continued as several jars appeared floating around her.
Lilly watched as the jars around Violet levitated towards the cauldron and poured their contents. Light smoke and bubbles started appearing on the surface. The scroll disappeared and Violet grabbed hold of Lilly's hand.
"Focus your magic on the cauldron, Lilly. Once I say the spell the smoke should evaporate and Kim will be stress-free once more." Violet smiled
Lilly nodded and closed her eyes. She glowed a faint white colour as she focused her magic onto the cauldron in front of her. Violet raised her hand towards the cauldron and her blue magic flowed through her outstretched hand.
"Poppy, Yar, and Brisbane steep,
To make a potion for potent sleep.
For all the world to work as one,
In harmony it must be done.
Switch her mood with that of us three
And stress free she will be."
As promised, as soon as Violet finished the spell the smoke slowly rose into the air and evaporated. Small sparks of energy were all that left as they rained down around the lair. Lilly smiled up at Violet.
"We did it!" She cheered
Violet winked at Lilly. "Did you doubt me?" She joked
Before Lilly could reply she suddenly released a loud yawn and her eyes dropped.
"Of course…not," She whispered before falling to the floor.
Violet tried to catch her, but stumbled and fell to her knees. She looked at the cauldron but her vision began to blur.
"That's not…right." She whispered before she too collapsed.
From his lair in Rayon, Renaldo watched with glee as he saw the princesses fall to the floor. He waved his hand over his cauldron and saw Riley and Kim's collapsed forms as well. He smiled victoriously.
"How will you get married when your husband doesn't know who he's marrying?" He sneered, "Sleep well, Princess."
