Chapter 32 – Loose Ends
Kim, Riley and Violet were relaxing in Kim's bedroom after the party wound down. The guys had gone home with April, Casey and Master Splinter to leave them to celebrate alone. All three sisters were lounging on Kim's extravagant bed just talking and enjoying the others' company.
"I'm so glad you and Leo are back together." Violet smiled, "Things wouldn't have been the same without you two together."
Riley smirked. "You guys gonna get hitched now?"
Kim smacked her sister's arm. "Don't say it like that!" She scolded with a laugh. "But no. No, it's just…weird and too soon."
"I get that." Riley said, "Now where's Lilly?"
Kim sat up and shrugged. "I don't know." She replied, "But I can get the guards to go look for her." She added, about to get up and get the guards from outside her room.
Just as she was about to open them the doors burst open and Lilly ran inside.
"I'm engaged!" She shouted happily, showing off her new ring.
The room was silent for a mere second before her three older sisters started screaming in excitement and ran over to their baby sister. They hugged her tight and continued to scream and gush their excitement and approval.
"When did this happen?" Kim cried
"An hour ago!" Lilly smiled, "Mikey followed me out of the ballroom, we made up and he proposed!"
"Holy crap!" Riley shouted, "When he apologises, he apologises big time. Look at that rock!" She added, pulling Lilly's ring closer for her to inspect.
"Congratulations Lilly!" Violet said, also looking at the ring. "You guys are so cute together."
"Yeah, and it'll go a lot better than Kim and Leo's disaster." Riley winked at Kim.
"Hardy har har." Kim said sarcastically with an eye roll.
"So where is the groom-to-be?" Violet asked
"Back home." Lilly said before she started dancing happily around the room. "He wanted me to tell you girls myself." She squealed and fell backwards onto Kim's bed. "How great is this!" She laughed, "First the coronation, then Kim's baby, and my engagement-"
"Whoa whoa back up!" Kim interrupted, holding up her hands. "What baby?"
Lilly stopped and looked over at Kim, raising an eyebrow.
"Your baby." She said, in a 'duh' voice.
"I have a baby?" Kim said skeptically.
Lilly got off the bed and walked up to Kim. She grabbed her hand and smiled comfortingly.
"Kim," She began softly. "I know you took a pregnancy test a few weeks ago." She said, "All these weird mood swings, your feeling sick, your powers messing up, it all makes sense."
Kim shook her head. "Lilly, I didn't take a pregnancy test."
"Kim, I saw the test!"
"Lilly I didn't take a test!"
"But it explains everything!"
"It wasn't me!"
"Lilly, maybe you're mistaken." Violet cut in.
Riley grew more and more frustrated at her sisters.
"Lilly I'm not pregnant!"
"But-"
"We haven't had time for-"
"The test-" Violet tried
"Let me finish-" Kim told Violet before Lilly interrupted.
"That can't be right!" Lilly screamed in frustration.
"IT'S ME! I'M PREGNANT!" Riley roared, interrupting her feuding sisters.
The room went dead silent.
Riley stood shocked, her mouth gaping open. "O-Oh…" She stuttered, "That…that is not how I wanted that to come out."
"Riley," Kim gasped, "You're pregnant?"
Riley nodded. Lilly shook her head.
"But…but Kim-"
"It's me, Lilly." Riley said before she walked over to the bed and sat on the edge. "I haven't been feeling well for several weeks." She started to explain. "First, I thought it was just the flu. But then, my powers were messing up. And then Albert mentioned about pregnancies interfering with our powers and I panicked."
"I took a test one night and it came back positive." Riley looked down, ashamed. "I didn't say anything because I was waiting until after the wedding. But then we switched bodies and then Kim left Leo at the altar after that, and then everything that followed..." Riley sighed, "It was never a good time to tell anyone. The only one who knew was my nurse and that's because she privately asked me if I knew I was pregnant. Must have come up in more tests."
Lilly eye's widened. "So…it was your test."
Riley nodded.
"But what about Kim's powers being messed up? Her throwing up? Her mood swings?"
"That's easy." Violet spoke up, gaining her sisters' attention. "Kim's powers were being messed up because she was channelling Riley's problems. She sensed the trouble and empathised. So Riley's pregnancy and trouble with her powers interfered with Kim's."
"Stupid empathy power side affect." Riley grumbled
Violet ignored her and continued. "Kim's mind was switched into Riley's body. So if Riley was pregnant at the time then-"
"I was throwing up because of Riley's baby." Kim finished, her eyes wide.
"And the mood swings?" Lilly gasped, her eyes as wide as saucers, her mind still buzzing.
Violet shrugged. "I told you, brides get stressed and moody when planning weddings."
Lilly looked over at Kim and smiled sheepishly. "I guess I kind of jumped to conclusions, huh?"
Kim laughed and hugged Lilly. "The evidence was a little confusing." She pulled away. "But I appreciate that you cared enough to keep an eye on my behaviour."
Suddenly Kim looked over at Riley. "You're pregnant!" She cried
Riley nodded, a look of 'duh' on her face. "Yes?" She said, "I think we've established that."
Kim, Lilly and Violet screamed again and pulled Riley into a group hug.
"RILEY'S HAVING A BABY!" The girls all cried together.
"I'm going be an aunt!"
"Hi baby! I'm aunt Lilly, I'll be your favourite aunt!"
"I'll take such good care of you sweetheart!"
Riley sweat dropped at her sisters, worried for her child's well being with them around. She pulled away from the hug, looked down at her stomach. She smiled rubbed it.
"I'm going to love you and protect you, my little one." She whispered
"How did Raph react?" Violet asked
"Raph?" Riley whispered before her eyes suddenly widened in realisation. "Raph! I have to tell Raph!" She screamed before she sat on the edge of the bed again.
"You haven't told him?" Lilly cried
"There wasn't exactly a right time!" Riley defended
Kim sat next to Riley and wrapped an arm around her comfortingly.
"Oh c'mon Riles." She said, "Are you afraid?"
At Riley's silence, Kim squeezed her sister's shoulder. "Are you telling me that you can handle bad guys, death, mutants, and magical realms, but can't face telling Raph that he's going to be a father?"
Riley let a laugh escape her lips at that.
"He'll be thrilled." Kim continued, "He loves you and I'm positive that he will be pleased that he will have a family of his own to love and care for. Raph may have a bad temper, he may be hotheaded-"
"Stubborn." Lilly piped in.
"Pigheaded." Violet continued
"Reckless as hell." Kim added
"OKAY I GET IT!" Riley interrupted before they could all carry on.
"-But I have no doubt that he will be so happy." Kim finished, "He'll take you in his arms and swing you around. And he'll react that way because he loves you so much. I'm sure he has a vision of his own family with you." Kim smirked, "He's a big softie. He'll protect that little tike and you with his last breath."
"Yeah," Riley said before she laughed and stood up. "Yeah!" She cried, "You're right! What am I so afraid of? C'mon girls, let's go tell my boyfriend he's going to be a father."
With that said the four sisters orbed back down to Earth to tell the guys the great news.
Turtle's Lair
The girls orbed into the centre of the living room of the lair. They noticed it was oddly quiet, especially when all the brothers were supposed to be home. They looked around and noticed the kettle was quietly boiling, the television was still on showing Splinter's stories, the coffee table was over turned, popcorn was all over the floor and the red rug was all muddled as if there had been a struggle.
The girls were all silent as they looked around the lair.
"Dude, where is everyone?" Lilly asked
Kim shook her head. "I…I don't know."
"What the hell happened here?" Riley whispered, looking around the room.
"Donnie!" Violet cried, "Are you here?"
Riley looked down at her stomach and stroked it lovingly.
"Don't worry, baby." She said, "We'll find your daddy. I'm sure he's not too far." She added as the 4 sisters continued searching for the mutant family.
The girls were so busy searching that they failed to notice the teenage boy with red hair, a long white t-shirt and a blue trench coat that flashed on the television mouthing the word 'aunties.'
