Zelda decided to make her return to the castle now with the impending threat of the Sumo King. Link, still in his mawashi, followed her. It wasn't that far since they were in the castle courtyard where the festivities were happening. She led him to a small room just inside the castle interior. It was, for the most part, unnoticeable as the door looked like a common wooden door leading into some random store room or something. The room didn't have a whole lot, only a table and a chair on both sides of the table. The room was walled with the normal gray stone and was floored with its normal wooden floor. It was just a normal ordinary room, but they were alone, away from the festival.
Zelda sat down in the chair facing the door. Her look was a mix of despair and seriousness. A look in which he has rarely seen on her. The room was quiet for some time. Zelda sighed and put her hand on her forehead, massaging, trying to relieve the stress that was recently on her from the recent events. Link just stood there, saying nothing.
Zelda sighed again and said, Link, I need you to train"
"I'm already training. Just to let you know, the stable works me really hard." Link said to the princess.
"That may be true, but you can't go toe to toe against him and the stable you're in can only take you so far."
"Wait, what are you saying then?" Link was puzzled.
"What I'm saying is that you should refine your skills. I know of four sumo masters around Hyrule. They were, at one point, the best and the strongest until he came around."
"I will go seek them if I must." Link said quickly.
"Not just yet." Zelda informs. "There is something about these masters I still need to say. History behind these them."
"Go on, I can wait."
Zelda continued, "These four sumo masters, as I mentioned before, were the best and the strongest. These four were in the day the top sumo wrestlers. Celebrated by all of Hyrule. Each year, we held celebrations honoring them. However, this lasted but for a short time. There was someone who had come along to challenge these four. He wanted all the glory to him and only him and so he sought out these four masters to challenge them head on. They were defeated, having not seen such a wrestler in their lifetime. Soon after the defeat of the four masters, they chose to retire, returning home where they would train more young men like yourself to the sport of sumo wrestling. Now Ganondorf, the Sumo King, has returned to challenge you."
Link with curiosity asked the princess, "Can you tell me more about this Sumo King?"
"As you know, his name is actually Ganondorf. No one knows for sure who the Sumo King is, but I sense great evil about him. History says that he appeared out of nowhere. From the masters, they say that he must have trained many years and perfected sumo. From what I can acquire, he has a tower up in the mountains in the north. It rises straight to the skies, looming on top of Hyrule like a dark spot on our lands. If you challenge the Sumo King and defeat him, you will stop this threat once and for all."
"I will do it." Link said with a smile, "I'm up for any challenge thrown at me." He crossed his arms with confidence.
"I know. That's why it has to be you." Princess Zelda said, "I sense greatness in you and in time you will be a sumo master."
"So tell me princess, what should I do to prepare?" Link asked.
"Give yourself one day to pack your bag, then head out of the city going east. There is a sumo master on Death Mountain with the Gorons. His name is Riki. His knowledge was passed on since the Dawn of Twilight. Seek him out and train from him."
Link nodded, knowing great about his quest laid out before him. He went out of the small room and returned back to the festival. Link could get a sense of optimism from the Hyrulians. Eyes gazing with hope on him as he walked through the crowd. He knew that he must do it. If not for himself, then for the people who live here, who calls this place home like he has. He walked towards the stage. The stage that the Sumo King had once occupied. The stage that Link had been challenged on. The crowd demanded a speech from him. Something to ease everyone's minds before returning home to get some sleep.
He took the stage, feeling the cool breeze of night coming on him. It was still. He cleared his throat, preparing himself to speak. He was, at the time, nervous. He started to speak, "As you might be wondering is whether or not I'll be taking on the challenge. As there is no other choice, I will accept this challenge and be your sumo champion. My year long quest will not be easy. It'll be filled with strain as I learn new things and gain new strength I haven't yet acquired. However, I will do my best to defeat this menace who calls himself the Sumo King. May the goddesses shine in my favor!" At that point, the entire crowd erupts with cheer, which gave Link the required encouragement he needed to start his quest.
Link stepped off the stage. Zelda was there as she had followed him up to the stage. Zelda stopped him once again. She said, "That speech gave me, and everyone much hope. You certainly shed light on looming darkness." The princess gave him a smile. A type of smile that Link could only smile back.
"I should return back to the stable. It's sort of getting cold just standing here in my mawashi. After all, I do need rest before starting my quest."
"I will let you be then." Zelda said, giving hints of tiredness herself. "Good night hero. May the goddesses shine in your favor." With that, Zelda left to go back to her own quarters.
Link went out of the royal courtyard and back to the stable. There were a few guys left, but most had gone to their room to sleep.
One of the few that had stayed up was Katsu. "So, you're actually going to do it. Challenge this Sumo King?" He asked Link.
Link responded, "That's what I said I was going to do."
"Good luck. I know you'll need it." Katsu said to Link. He patted his heavy hands on his strong bare back. After this, they both went to their rooms respectively and went to sleep.
