Ponyboy's POV:
I don't know what to think about all this. All I know is Dallas checked out Cherry, and Anne got mad thinking that Dallas would change, when he didn't. Anne didn't want to see Dallas for a while, and when she saw him the next morning, she stormed out and hasn't been home since then. There is a chance of her being dead.
Johnny and I are going to the lot to see if we can find anything to help us find Rosanne. Dallas went through here and found her shirt torn off her, her wallet, and possibly her blood on the fountain. Johnny and I are also hoping we can get an idea on where to search for her. It might be a little harder to find clues since it's raining.
We get to the lot. I instantly run to the fountain to see if Dally was telling the truth about the blood. Boy he was sure right. I saw a little puddle of blood right next to Bob's dried up blood. I look over at Johnny, and he looks over at me. Johnny comes over and he looks down at the blood. He starts to shake.
"Dallas was telling the truth huh?" Johnny says.
"He must have," I say.
I walk away from the blood. I go to the closest tree to see if there was anything from Anne's wallet. I didn't see anything.
"Hey Ponyboy!" shouted Johnny from across the lot. I look over. "I found something that you might wanna see."
I run over to Johnny. He's holding a piece of paper that's all crumbled up. It's hard to read it in the rain, and it's dark out.
"What's up Johnny?" I ask.
"I can barely read this, but at the bottom its signed Bob and Randy," Johnny tells me. Johnny shows me the paper. Their signatures were on the bottom pretty big.
"Bob and Randy?!" I exclaim.
"We need light to read this," Johnny said. "This could be very important."
"Put that paper in your pocket neatly, and let's see if we can find anything else here," I said.
Johnny puts the paper in pocket and we depart to look for clues. I keep by where Johnny found that paper. I have a good feeling that the paper he found is gonna help us.
I look up and saw two or three people hiding behind a bush. I pretend that I didn't see anything, but I am keeping an eye out because it was odd. I walk closer but keep a distance but I do hear them whispering.
"I don't remember where I dropped that paper."
"Well you better find it without these two greasers finding it, that has all our plans on it!"
"Let's go look on the other side of the lot for it."
"Just forget it! The rain probably ruined it."
I walk away from the bush and go to the fountain again. Just then, I saw Johnny running towards me.
"Ponyboy! I thought of a place where Rose could have went!" Johnny says.
"Where?" I ask.
"Remember the other day when her and I were just gonna walk, but then the Socs saw us and we ended up running to a hiking trail?" Johnny asks me.
"What about it?" I ask.
"Rose was tense about seeing Dally. Maybe she went down that trail again to remember the fun time her and I had to get her mind off things," Johnny told me.
I completely forgot about them going on a trail. That is a great idea. Anne goes to places where she has good memories at when she gets upset. I'm glad Johnny came up with that idea.
"That's a great idea Johnny!" I say. "Take us there."
Johnny and I leave the lot and he's gonna take us to the hiking trail. I'm ready to find my kid sister.
Johnny's POV:
It took me a long time, but I thought of a good place that might have clues on where Rose is. Her and I got chased by the Socs and we found a hiking trail, so Ponyboy and I are gonna look there. I don't know what Rose was wearing but I know she labels R. Curtis on tags. Apparently Ponyboy's mom would do the same with her clothing before she died.
I am glad I remember where the trail is. It's not too far from the lot. I wonder if Rose just fell asleep somewhere and is now just getting home, just like how Ponyboy fell asleep at the lot that one time.
We get to the trail. It's just how I remembered. Ton of forest, and a trail that is now muddy, and a wooden bridge. Rose and I went on that bridge. We carved Rosanne and Johnny were here with a heart.
I run to the bridge and Ponyboy starts to examine the place. The first thing I went to see was our carving. It's still there. It made me smile for a little bit. Then I looked down at Ponyboy. He's examining a thing of bushes. He looks very confused. I walk off the wooden bridge and go to Ponyboy and I ask him what was up.
"Is it just me, or does it look like tire tracks were here?" Ponyboy asks.
I look at to where he was looking at. I know for a fact there were no tire tracks on the trail. I look near the bushes and found a broken bracelet. It has some letters left over. The letters I see are O-S-A-N-N. I pick up the broken bracelet and look at Ponyboy.
Ponyboy gaps and starts tearing up.
"What's wrong Ponyboy?" I ask.
"The bracelet," he said.
"What about it?" I ask.
"The day before my mom and dad died, they bought us all white bracelets with our names on it that look the same, just with black lettering, except Anne's was a little different. At the shop, they didn't have an O, so they substituted it with a pink lettering. We all thought it was funny that she had a pink O, but then I thought it was more special, since she's the only Curtis sibling who is a girl. Anne wore this everyday, so something is up if it's not on her, and broken," Ponyboy says. Ponyboy grabs the bracelet and starts crying more. "Someone did something bad to Anne, she had to fight." Ponyboy stares at the bracelet and keeps crying.
"Oh," I say. "I'm so sorry Ponyboy. We're gonna find Rose, no matter what. We're gonna find her alive."
"I sure hope so," Ponyboy says. Ponyboy looks at the bracelet more. "Oh… I see blood on it."
I look at the bracelet. "Do you think it's the same blood from the fountain?"
Ponyboy sighs. "It's possible now. I always want to look at the brightside, but I don't think there's a bright ending to this. I have a feeling we're gonna find her dead, or not even find her."
Ponyboy goes to the bridge and sits down. "First my parents, and now my kid sister. What's next?"
I look down. I couldn't imagine what he has been through. I'm not close to my folks at all. I don't know who is alive and who has died ever since Darry said that I could live at the house with everyone. The only people I honestly care about now are Rose, Ponyboy, Sodapop, Darry, Steve, Two-Bit, and myself. I'm not sure about Dally though. He could have gotten Rose killed.
I look at the tire tracks and I start to follow them. I'm surprised that they are still visible. I keep following the muddy path, and I reach a cabin in the woods with a Mustang in the parking lot. I run to Ponyboy, but he isn't there.
"Ponyboy! Ponyboy!" I shout. "Where are you?!"
I got nothing back. I decided to look around the trail a little bit to find Ponyboy, but I didn't find him, all I found were muddy footprints leaving the trail. I decide to follow the footprints but they fade away. Did Ponyboy go home? But why would he leave without telling me? Why didn't he wait for me? Well, maybe he just wanted to be alone, which I understand.
I decide to walk back home to meet Ponyboy. I can't stop thinking about the cabin and the Mustang. Do they have any idea on Rose's whereabouts? Or is it one huge coincidence that they drove through the trail and Rose's bracelet from her dead parents is broken near the tire tracks? All I know is that I'm coming back here soon with the rest of the gang and we're gonna go back to that cabin and see if we can get any help to find Rose.
