Sorry for the delay...all the reviews have been truly amazing! I got a little sidetracked but once again those reviews that kept coming in made me focus and get this chapter together. I don't want to drag out Hoyt as I have other things planned for this story but he also can't simply just go away. This chapter is a little broken up as a lot of these sections are happening at the same time...hope you all enjoy!
Vince stood in front of the board staring at pictures of Hoyt, his known accomplice and an unknown player. Written below and between the pictures were direct links they previously discovered and clues they were still trying to connect.
"I WANT THIS SON OF A BITCH," Vince yelled punching the free-standing board causing it to jolt backward.
The few people that were left in the squad room on a late Friday night all fell silent waiting to see what the senior detective's next move would be.
"Ugh I am sorry guy," Vince apologized rubbing his hands over his face, "this guy is always just one step ahead of us."
The room went back to a low hum as everyone returned to finishing up their work. When dinner time rolled around Vince was the only detective left with a few techs in operations.
"Vince," Sean burst into the squad room looking for his partner, "Vince you need to see this," Sean said thrusting a file into his hand.
Vince looked at him a little confused before flipping open the file. With each line he read he grew more concerned.
"Sean how reliable is this?"
"Right now, I think we have to operate under the assumption it is 100% reliable and figure the rest out later."
"We have to move her now," Vince said grabbing his phone and keys running to the elevator with Sean on his tails.
Vince tried to get Jane on her cell phone but it was going to voicemail.
"Come on Jane pick up….Jane its Vince…Sean and I are on our way to you just hang tight there and don't let anyone in."
"Vince," Sean said concerned.
"I know lights and sirens lets go," he yelled jumping in the car and pealing out.
Jane was just finishing up at the bakery after helping her ma out on an unusually busy Sunday. She was glad for the distraction as Maura tutoring a student after school and wouldn't be back until dinner. Normally it wouldn't be such a big deal but Maura had only return from New York last night and because of bad weather she was delayed getting into town. Jane saw her long enough to receive a present from Maura before the girl passed out from exhaustion.
"You heading out baby," Angela asking coming back from the kitchen?
"Yeah Maura should be finishing tutoring soon and she is going to come over. Frankie should be home by now too."
"I still can't believe she got you that necklace Janie…and that you're wearing it."
Jane fingered the scripted J pendant that hung around her neck.
"I know jewelry isn't really my thing but I am not stubborn enough to not wear something my girlfriend got me."
"At least you have some sense in that head of yours."
"Gee thanks ma," Jane said rolling her eyes.
"With all this stuff going on and you want to parade around like everything is ok…it's just not Jane."
"Look I know ok…and I know the stress is it putting on everyone and I am sorry. If I could run away and take this asshole away from here I would."
"That wouldn't solve anything…I just wish the police would hurry up and do their job."
"They are working hard on it ma I promise."
"I know," Angela sighed, "I just worry."
"I know ma…look I really need to get home. Frankie will be ravenous when he gets home and if I don't have pizza there he will eat all the expensive healthy crap Maura has there."
"I'm so proud of you Janie…I know things haven't been great at home and you stepped up for Frankie."
"I'm proud of you too ma…you have had to deal with pop being an asshole."
"Yeah, well that asshole will be out in two days and then I hope we can all start fresh."
"Maybe Sunday dinners again?"
"Yeah, I would really like that Janie."
"Just don't call me Janie," she teased as she grabbed her jacket and headed out.
Jane hadn't gotten two steps when she walked into Office Dunkin.
"Damn Dunkin a little breathing room…did you not get that memo," she asked as her long-time guard who had been on vacation last week.
"Sorry we have a situation we need to go," he said ushering her to the car.
"Wait what situation," Jane asked not having been informed of anything?
"Vince and Sean are on their way to your house I am supposed to bring you back there for a brief."
"All right let's go."
Vince and Sean screeched to a stop outside Jane's house and raced up the stairs banging on the door. A moment later Frankie answered.
"Hi Detective what's going on" Frankie asked a little concerned?
"Where is Jane?"
"She isn't home yet. She was at the bakery helping Ma."
"Call your mom ask if she is still there?"
"Why not just call Jane?"
"Frankie just call her," Vince demanded.
Frankie pulled out his phone and called the bakery.
"Hey ma…is Janie there?"
Vince and Sean were starring at Frankie impatiently waiting.
"When did she leave," he asked looking at his watch?
Frankie was getting more worried by the second.
"Ok ma thanks…no just waiting for her to get home with pizza. Ok love you too ma bye…she left the bakery 20 minutes ago she should be home by now."
"Sean get her detail on the phone now," Vince commanded as he got on the horn with his boss.
Frankie wanted to know what was going on but anyone that could give him answers was currently yelling into their phone.
"Vince, we have a problem," Sean said looking grim.
"That is not something I really want to hear right now."
"Office Delco was on shift but switched with Office Dunkin and he is off grid."
"What do you mean off grid?"
"It was him."
Silence filled the air as unspoken words crossed between the older men.
"WHAT DO YOU MEAN IT WAS HIM," Frankie yelled completely losing it?
"We have a mole…that's why we are here…we just found out."
"And now…now Hoty…he has her," Frankie asked struggling to breath.
Sean and Vince just shared a look, this was bad.
"Let's go inside."
"NO, WE HAVE TO FIND HER."
"And we aren't going to do tat just driving around the neighborhood. We need to get you inside and make sure you are safe."
"HE DOESN'T WANT ME."
"We also need to make sure you don't go flying off the rails and put yourself or your sister in danger so please Frankie get inside and sit down so we can do our jobs."
Frankie didn't like it but he also didn't want to be the reason there was a delay in getting Jane help. Vince and Sean were back on their phone both putting an alert out for Hoyt, Dunkin and Jane. It also sounded like they were trying to trace her cell phone and get a last sighting on the car. Frankie felt like panic attack was coming on thinking about his sister being kidnapped and held in the sick hands of this psycho.
"All right all patrols are on the lookout for Dunkin's car," Sean informed Vince.
"Good, we have our guys trying to track her cell. We need to get back and figure out where he is taking her."
Both Sean and Vince looked at Frankie.
"Sean you go let me know if they find anything…I will stay with Frankie until a car can get here."
"I don't need a babysitter," Frankie spit out.
"Really, because if your anything like your sister the second I walk out this door your hitting the streets looking for her."
Frankie remained quiet.
"Right…so Sean go I will be a few minutes behind you."
Sean nodded and headed out. Frankie was stewing in his own anger at Hoyt for existing, at the police for letting him escape and at Vince for not knowing where his sister was. Without a doubt though he had and overwhelming feeling of fear…fear he might never see his sister alive again.
"Are you going to find her," Frankie asked his voice cracking?
"Hoyt is not getting away with this Frankie…not tonight, not ever. We will get her back," Vince stated with a conviction he hoped he could keep.
When the patrol car arrived and Vince gave strict instructions he left to help with the case. Frankie felt so helpless as now all he could do was wait.
Jane didn't know what had happened, her whole body ached as she struggled to get her eyes to open. It felt like she had been drugged and as she finally managed to open her eyes she realized that is exactly what happened. She tried to remember anything but her mind was a scrambled mess right now.
"Fuck," Jane groan pushing herself up off the floor.
Her hands and feet were zip tied and are far as she could tell she was in some warehouse or basement type structure. She wanted to scream out for help but knew no one would hear her and it would alert whoever was around that she was awake.
The events of the night slowly started to come back to her…the bakery…leaving with Dunkin…realizing they weren't heading to her house…someone in the back seat…and nothing. She knew, she knew it was Hoyt and had to fight the urge to vomit. Jane knew there was a high likelihood no one knew she was even missing yet and if they did they had no idea where she was. Jane was on her own and if she wanted to survive this she was going to have to figure something out and in a hurry.
"I don't want to die…Jane you are not going to die tonight," she said giving herself a little pep talk.
"FRANKIE…FRANKIE," Maura yelled running into the house.
When Maura pulled up the to house she saw the flashing lights of the cop car and her heart dropped into her stomach.
"Frankie what's going on," Maura asked panicked seeing the cop in the house?
"Maura," Frankie rushed to her side pulling her in for a hug, "Maura he has her," he barely got out.
"What? No that isn't possible," Maura said grabbing her phone and calling Jane.
It went right to voicemail.
"No…no HE CANT HAVE HER," she yelled as tears exploded from her eyes.
Frankie held Maura tight as she cried.
"They are doing everything they can to find her. They have all cars on the lookout, they tried tracking her cell but they dumped it on the side of the road, they…"
"OH MY GOD…Frankie we need to go," Maura yelled cutting him off.
"Maura, we have to stay here…Vince ordered this guy to make sure I didn't do anything stupid."
"We need to go to the police station NOW," Maura demanded to the cop.
Vince and Sean where huddled in the operations room looking through real time data rolling in. They had a few leads guys were tracking down but nothing solid yet.
"VINCE…VINCE."
Vince looked back in the squad room seeing the young Rizzoli looking around frantically.
"Frankie damnit I told you to stay put."
"We know where Jane is," Frankie yelled nearly out of breath.
"What? Where?"
"Well, I don't know but she does," Frankie said pulling Maura in front of him.
"I have a GPS device on Jane," Maura said holding up her phone.
"Can you pull that up on a computer," Vince asked already pulling her into the operations room?
"Yes."
Vince kicked a guy off the central computer and Maura pulled up the site and tracker.
"Where the hell is that? Johnny overlay the map," Vince demanded.
"That's Chelsea. Does he have her in the park," Sean asked looked at the map.
"No…No he has her in the warehouse district across the river," Vince said grabbing for his jacket, "Get all squad cars in the area to that location, TELL THEM TO KEEP A 100 YARD DISTANCE AND NO LIGHTS OR SIRENS. We cannot alert anyone we are in the area, Sean lets go. Johnny you call us if the dot moves and millimeter."
Frankie and Maura watched Vince and Sean run out the door as the rest of the room erupted into a bustle of activity.
"They are going to find her," Maura said confidently.
"Because of you," Frankie said pulling his best friend into a tight hug.
Maura just held on knowing they each needed the comfort.
"How did you get a tracking device on Jane?"
"It is in the necklace I gave her…I had Barry put a chip in the necklace clasp. I didn't like Jane putting herself out there as bait. I didn't know what to do," Maura said tears welling back up in her eyes.
"You did great Maura…you did so great."
By the time Vince and Sean arrived teams were already being put into place. They had confirmed the device which they believed to still be on Jane was in the warehouse. They were trying to get eyes inside but with the size of the build it was proving to be a challenge.
"We need to get eyes on her before we breach. We go in the wrong spot he could kill her before we can get to her," Vince explained looking at the blueprints of the building spread out across the hood of his car.
"We could hit simultaneously, breach and clear at all available access points," Sean suggested.
"We could still run into the same problem. Where are we on the snake cam?"
"They have only cleared 25% of the building."
Before anyone else could say anything one gunshot rang out followed by three rapid fire gunshots.
"GO, GO, GO," Vince yelled and all cops were on the move.
