Personal Comments: Continuation of previous chapter.
I came up with the idea that Karasu and Tsurara could be witch-hunting partners. They travel around the world together looking for witches to hunt, people to help and grief seeds to loot, taking on a series of odd jobs. I imagine their favorite common odd job would be baby sitting, and that kids would love Ko (Karasu's pet crow).
I imagine at one point they may have come to a town where they found a decent shelter and one of the girls finds a secure job. It came to my mind with all the femslash shipping in the madoka fandom, it would seem fitting to ship these two together. One starts having feelings for the other.
Part 1 draws some inspiration from the scene from Princess and the Frog where Naveen is talking to Ray and the star about marrying Tiana.
Part 1:
A bright, starry moonlight night on the rooftop. Not a single cloud in sight. Tsurara kept pacing and starring up at the moon, thinking, and waiting for him.
"You wanted to see me?" A male voice pierced the silent night. She knew the voice was only in her mind. She was not startled. She knew he was here. She turned to face the crow standing on the rim.
"Yeah, thanks for coming," She said to him. She had asked to see him alone. Karasu was off on witch patrol for the night while Tsurara could catch up on her homework. She had finished a while ago, and now wanted to talk with Ko. She needed to talk with someone about this.
"So what is on your mind?" The crow 'asked'.
"I actually wanted to talk about Karasu," The pale girl said aloud. Although she knew Ko could only speak telepathically, she was more comfortable speaking out loud. "Can you keep a secret? Just between us?"
"I don't like keeping secrets from Karasu," he 'said'.
"Please? Just this one thing?" Tsurara pleaded, a begging smile on her face.
Ko huffed. "Alright. Sure. So what is it?"
Tsurara glanced around once more to make sure no one was listening. Then exhaled and braced herself to speak.
"I think I'm in love with her."
Ko was silent for a moment. He blinked for a moment, probably the best thing he could do to express shock.
"Woah! Well... how long? When did you realize that?"
"I-I don't know," Tsurara stammered. "I just... lately I've just been thinking. We've been together so long, and she's just so amazing. I think I'd be miserable without her, and when I think about it, she's kind of hot."
"What about all those dates with boys you've both gone on?"
"I guess that was just casual dating. I haven't felt any REAL attraction to a lot of those boys. Besides, when I see a boy being all flirty with Karasu, I... something inside me gets burned up. Like I want to punch that guy."
"Hmm... I see. So what can I do to help you with it? What are you going to do?" Ko opened up one wing and buried his head inside to peck at the feathers under his wing.
"That's just it. I don't know." Tsurara huffed as she walked over and plopped down on a large brick.
"Part of me wants to go up to her, look her in the eye and say something like "you are the most beautiful, amazing girl I know. I really think there's something between us. I think I love you. Will you go out with me?" or something. On the other hand, I'm afraid she'll reject me because she doesn't feel the same way about me... or she might not even swing that way. Hell, for the longest time, I didn't even think I swung that way."
Ko ruffled his feathers and waddled over towards her. "Well... I might not be an expert on these things Tsurara... but the way I see it, wouldn't you rather try and have it fail than spend time wondering what would have happened?"
Tsurara thought about it for a second. It made perfect sense to her.
"And another thing. Don't forget that you're both magical girls. You both live in constant danger. For all you know, this time tomorrow, one of you might be dead."
As unpleasant as that thought was, Ko was right again.
"You're right, Ko!" Tsurara said at last. "I know what I'm going to do. I'll take her out to dinner as soon as she gets home, and see what happens. Thank you so much for this."
"Glad I could help," He replied. "And again, just between us, right?"
"Yeah. Just between us."
Part 2; told from either Tsurara's or Karasu's perspective:
"Well, we were both hunting the same witch one day. We ran into each other in the labyrinth. We both argued over who deserved to hunt this witch and claim its grief seed. It escalated into a fight. We were pretty evenly matched. So we decided to fight the witch together, then decide on who should get the grief seed."
"Surprisingly, when we worked together, we had an easy time beating the witch. But then the grief seed dropped, and our fight was back on."
"It took us an embarrassingly long time to realize we were just using up our valuable magic. Eventually, we called it even, declared truce, and decided the victor with a game of Rock, Paper, Scissors."
"And I won!" Tsurara squealed with glee.
"After that, we kept fighting witches around the city. Sometimes letting the other have it, sometimes fighting over it, even teaming up once. Until finally, one day, I invited Tsurara to lunch one day. We got to know each other a little better, got friendlier, and finally, we decided to team up against witches from then on. We've been together ever since."
(I also imagine during the said lunch that Tsurara would say: "Let's get two things straight here. First, we are equals. I'm nobody's lackey. Two, I will not he held responsible for your life.")
