Title: Vernal X Ilia Moment

Premise: RWBY. The morning after Ilia and Vernal had spent the night together at a motel.

Personal Comments: I had the idea for this crack ship and I wrote this just for fun. It just kind of stuck with me.

In a small, cozy-looking motel room just a few miles away from the Branwen Tribe bandit camp, Ilia slowly got out of the bed, careful as to not wake the young woman asleep beside her.

No use. Years of living in fear of the authorities had almost always kept Vernal on guard, always sleeping with one eye open. She turned over to face the naked chameleon faunus creeping out of the bed.

"Morning babe," Vernal whispered. "Where you sneaking off to?"

Ilia sighed, disappointed in herself that she had woken up Vernal.

"Do you want some coffee?" Ilia asked.

"I'd love some!" Vernal whispered. Ilia could tell by her happy, relaxed tone that Vernal was in bliss. Vernal readjusted her pillow a little, clearly waiting to be served coffee in bed.

Ilia reached the small coffee maker on the dresser. Vernal had insisted on leaving it on all night so it would be ready in the morning. Seemed like a pointless waste of power to Ilia, but she was complaining right now. She poured coffee into the two styrofoam cups. There was no cream or sugar, but she could bear it for now. Vernal seemed to have no problem with black coffee. She had mentioned that they only every had their coffee black in the bandit tribe, except for Raven, who kept what little cream and sugar they had for herself.

Ilia handed the cup to Vernal, who took one big swig, finishing half the cup in one gulp.

"Thanks," Vernal huffed after she swallowed. Ilia sipped her coffee more gingerly.

"I had a great time last night," Vernal whispered, sitting up. She reached over and gently ran her fingers down Ilia's arm, stopping at her hand.

"Yeah," Ilia nodded. "Me too."

The two drank their coffee in silence for a few moments before finally Ilia spoke up.

"I need to get going soon. My boat for Menagerie leaves in a few hours."

"Well, that was quick," Vernal muttered, clear disappointment in her tone.

"I told you last night I had a boat to catch today," Ilia hissed back.

"Woah hey, easy," Vernal replied defensively. "I didn't mean it like that. I know you got important White Fang business to do."

Ilia looked back quizzically.

"Just that, you know, it gets really lonely around here." Ilia noted Vernal's playful tone of voice. "Can't stand the guys in the tribe. A few of the girls are okay. But you! You really made my night."

Later, Ilia was dressed and ready to go. She had given Vernal her share of the lien for the room.

"Hey," Vernal called after her as she headed for the door. Ilia turned to her. "If you're ever around here again, look me up."

"Sure," Ilia nodded. "Bye." And then she headed out the door.
