Premise: RWBY and Shadow of Mordor. Ratbag saves Ruby from Cinder.

Comments: The idea for a crossover story just popped into my head. In the story, Ratbag and Ranger end up in Remnant, perhaps after some mishap with the Mystic tribe, and decide to join the good guys and defend Haven. Ranger has already been killed. Ratbag is devastated by his friend's death. I don't plan on writing a full story, but I wrote this one scene because it stuck out in my mind so much.
Ruby's legs finally gave out and she fell to her knees, exhausted. Cinder stood over her, pure satisfaction in her eyes. She lifted her hand to deliver the final blow. It started to glow orange. Ruby could already feel the heat from the fire Cinder was conjuring.
"Goodbye," Cinder sneered.
Ruby didn't look away. She knew this was the end, but she wouldn't look away.
Ruby waited for the burning sensation as Cinder blew her to bits, but something suddenly grabbed onto Cinder's back, making her stumble back.
"AAAAHHHH!" The greenish figure growled. Ruby saw a green hand repeatedly jam a dagger into Cinder's torso. Cinder thrashed and lurched, trying to shake off her attacker.
"Ratbag?" Ruby asked, staggering to her feet. She finally got a good look at the little green orc clinging to Cinder's back.
"Run!" Ratbag barked.
Without stopping to think, Ruby did as she was told and bolted off to join the others.
"Get off of me you gremlin!" Cinder cried. Her body suddenly burned like hot metal. Ratbag leapt off her back before the skin on his hands was burned through.
Cinder turned to the orc, furious. Her eye burned with the power of the fall maiden. She bared her teeth like a wild animal.
"You little-!" She raised her hands, both conjuring orbs of fire.
"Oh shrakh," Ratbag muttered. And those were his last words as Cinder unleashed a huge torrent of flame at him. When the wave of fire faded, all that was left of Ratbag were two feet, with black blood sizzling at the ankles.
