Chapter Nine:
Jade's Pov:
"I guess this is it" I said as I park the car in the church's parking lot. Tori looked at me with an amused expression on her face.
"What? Do I have something in my teeth?" I ask, as I look into the side-view mirror.
"No, it's just you" Tori smiles, I groaned.
"You're going to have to be a bit more specific than that Vega!" I said crossing my arms.
"You're making it seem like we're about to meet the devil… not a reverend" Tori chuckled.
"Well that certainly would be easier than meeting this reverend, Vega!" I point out, looking out at the church as if it were my worst enemy.
"Jade, meeting the devil would be really, really… scary" Tori said, shivering a little at the thought of it.
"Maybe for you, Vega… but we're about to go in that church and lie under oath" I said, Tori laughed at me.
"We're not going to be under oath Jade, that's only in a court of law… that building over there with the pretty windows is called a church!" Tori stated, in a patronizing tone.
"Oh… but still… they won't be very happy about the whole lesbian thing?" I asked.
"Jade, you know as well as I do that same-sex marriage is legal in this state now… you're stalling" Tori realised, very un-amused.
"Yeah, it took you that long to realize?" I smirked; she shook her head in disappointment.
"Well that's good; at least I know you're not really clueless!" Tori stated, with a smirk of her own.
"You mean like you are?" I asked, adding an evil cackle afterwards.
"Come on, Jadelyn… It's time to go and meet the nice reverend!" Tori said, using the same patronizing tone from before. She opened her door and stepped out the car so I decided that I'd better follow if I was going to play the fiancée worthy of marrying her.
"It's so lovely to meet you, Miss West!" The reverend greets me as we sit down in his office. "And Tori, so lovely to see you again" He adds, giving her a wide smile.
"Okay, so my name is Reverend Charles, but you can call me Charles… if you like" He adds, for my sake.
"Okay, and please… call me Jade… Miss West makes me sound old!" I shiver, he chuckles.
"So, I hear you two lovely ladies want to get married!" Charles states over dramatically, I could have sworn his long-ish blonde hair danced.
"Yeah" Tori smiled, taking my hand and squeezing it.
"So how long have you been together?" He asked and my mind went blank. What was the story we'd been telling people? I looked at Tori who seemed as stumped as I was.
"Well… our friend Cat got married a month ago and that's really when we officially started dating… but we… uh… dated before that on and off…" Tori mumbled, nervously.
"Oh, that's not very long" He said a quizzical look on his face.
"Yeah, but we've none each other like forever!" Tori added, sounding a little bit like a teenager.
"Okay, so when are you wanting to get married?!" Charles asked, changing the subject.
"In about three months" I answered, the sooner this wedding happened the better.
"Well, you've got a lot of planning ahead of you… I can fit you in on the 8th of September, does that sound good?" He asked, Tori nodded.
"Well then, I'll see you at church on Sunday " He added, as he got out of his seat. I turned to Tori and she smirked at the horrified look on my face.
"Jade, we're going to start attending church together now… Isn't that great!" She beamed, but I know it was a fake smile, I knew her well enough now to know that!
Tori's POV:
Jade still had a horrified expression on her face when we left the church and when we're in the car she turns to me with a pleading look on her face.
"Don't make me go, Tori!" She practically begs, which is really unusual for her.
"I don't like it as much as you don't but if you want to get married in a church you have to attend that church" I explained.
"That's a stupid rule!" She complained as she drove out of the parking lot. I shrugged.
"Oh well, it's not like going to church every sunday is going to harm you!" I pointed out.
"Tori, I don't have time to sit down in church listening to some guy drone on and on about Jesus!" Jade complained.
"Oh, but you have time to stand in a casino gambling all your money away?" I asked, annoyed.
"Don't bring up my past... it's bad enough that I have to remember it" She complained, I could sense sorrow in her tone so I decided to leave it.
"Sorry, Jade... so what do you fancy?" I changed the subject, she looked at me for a second.
"You" She said it a little under her breath as if I wasn't meant to hear it.
"Me?" I questioned her, amused.
"Umm, I was just acting... I forgot it was just us" She stated.
"Okay... but I meant what do you fancy for dinner?" I corrected.
"Anything, as long as you're making it. I like your cooking" Jade complimented me.
"What's with you today?" I asked, surprised.
"Nothing... what do you mean?" She seemed, alarmed.
"Well you're not as much of a gank today" I explained.
"Aren't we a little to old to be using such a childish word?" Jade teased.
"And you're back!" I chuckled, she shrugged.
I'd made us a chicken roast for dinner, we were sitting across from each other and had been drinking an Italian bottle of wine that Cat had got us for a engagement present. Jade kept staring at me and every time she did I felt tingles run up and down my body.
"What?" I asked, self consciously.
"Nothing" Jade said, I gave her a quizzical look.
"Jade, what's going on?" I asked.
"I just like looking at you" She all but whispered.
"Huh?" I asked, eyes wide. She seemed to slap her forehead.
"I wasn't meant to say that" She stated, her face going bright red.
"You meant it Jade!" I pointed at her.
"No, I did not... this wine is just going to my head... gee-sh, what's with the twenty questions today!" She complained.
"Okay, if you say so" I said, taking a sip of my wine and managing to miss my mouth. She then burst out laughing at me.
"You're such a baby, Vega!" She said, between chuckles.
"Nu-uh!" I disagreed, trying to wipe the wine off of my shirt with a tea-towel.
"Come here, let me do it" She said, I sulked over to her and she began trying to get the wine stain off of my shirt. I flopped down into her lap and suddenly it seemed as if the room froze. I leaned in and I kissed her as I got off of her lap and pulled her with me over to the bedroom. We fell together drunkenly on the bed and I was on top of her kissing her with so much passion that I never knew I possessed.
"What are we doing?" I asked, suddenly stopping any further action between us. Jade froze for a minute as if she was insecure.
"Kissing" She stated the obvious and pulled me back into her. We got deeper into it and then I stopped again.
"Wait, is this a good idea?" I asked, Jade shrugged.
"I don't know, I'm drunk and so are you... come on Tori... I really need you!" She pouted and so I continued.
A/N: I hope that this didn't seem rushed, also be aware that they are drunk on really strong Italian wine. So that's why their guard is down and they've allowed this to happen. I hope you like this chapter!
