Recall: "Sure." His eyes lit up.
"Really?"
"Yeah, whatever." She looked away, now thinking she just dug her own grave. But, all bad thoughts faded away once she felt Inuyasha's lips pressed against her cheek again. Her eyes widened in shock, her hand on the side of her face. He stroked her chin.
"Don't worry Kagome, you won't regret." Inuyasha told her as he escorted her to his car. "It'll be fun, you'll see." Yes, they probably would have fun. But there was still that nagging in the back of her mind that this was going to be the biggest mistake of her life. However, looking over to see how happy Inuyasha was kind of made her happy aswell.
Happy?
She hadn't felt it in a while. So was there really a point of spoiling just a second of it thinking about those awful people? Right now, she was going to be:
Light
Blissful
Happy...
Fuck Naraku. Today is about me.
Chapter 8: How to Be Strong
While in the car, Kagome and Inuyasha stayed quiet. Neither of them didn't really have anything to say and the questions they did have they weren't sure how to put it. Even though she wanted to forget about Naraku, her heart was still pounding in fear of what awaited her when she got home. It wasn't long before they arrived at the diner.
"This is a diner?" She asked. He chuckled before nodding.
"Yeah, it's kinda nice looking." For a diner it looked a little fancy in Kagome's opinion., a piano player and a female singer, not to mention a dance floor where people were already dancing. The atmosphere was nice for a first date. I say that as if this is the first of many dates. If it wasn't for the fact that people were dressed casually, Kagome would have thought she was underdressed. Inuyasha took her by the hand up to where the hostess was.
"Hello, table for two?" She asked grabbing two menus.
"Yeah." Inuyasha answered.
"Okay, if you would follow me this way." As they followed her, Kagome looked around a bit more. The lights were dimmed and the table ware was a little fancy. Pretty soon they came to a booth. The table had flowers, next to it was a small candle. After the waitress sat the couple down, she handed them the menus. "Your server will be here in a second." She said before leaving. Kagome was stared at her plate. It was white with a gold trim around it. It's been awhile since I've been to a diner. The aroma was making Kagoe hungrier than she was. She looked up to see Inuyasha just looking at her.
No words
No explanation
Just looking
"What?" Kagome asked impatiently.
"Nothing." He said, still staring.
"Then why are you staring at me?"
"Can't I just look at you?"
"No, not without a reason."
"But I have a reason." She sneered.
"This ought' a be good." She crossed her arms. "What's your reason?"
"You're cute." He commented, making her blush.
"That's your reason?"
"Yep." She was about to say something, but a waitress arrived with two glasses of waters.
"Hey, Inuyasha what's up?" She said, placing the glasses next to them. Obviously, Inuyasha knew who the woman was. She was a little bit shorter than Kagome, with black hair in a small pony tail on the top of her head. She had big brown eyes and a big smile.
"What's up, Rin." He looked at Kagome. "Kagome this is Rin. Rin, Kagome." She held out her hand.
"Hey there." She said in a supper friendly way. Kagome smiled and shook her hand. She's adorable.
"Hi." She greeted, a little timid.
"No need to be shy sweetie I don't bite." I believe that. You're way too nice. "So can I start you two off with drinks?" She asked pulling out a notepad.
"Gimme a Pepsi." Inuyasha said. She stuck her tongue out at him then turned to Kagome.
"Can I have an ice tea?" She smiled.
"Sure." She put the notepad in her pocket then turned back to Inuyasha. "She's so polite. Don't spoil this kay?" She said before practically skipping to the kitchen.
"She's nice." Inuyasha shrugged.
"She has her moments." Kagome nodded, taking a sip out of her water. Inuyasha did so as well before noticing a bruise on her hand.
"How'd you get that?" He asked. She was confused for a second before also looking at her hand, then noticed several large cuts. How didn't I notice that? They're pretty big too. She covered her hand with her sleeve, turning back to a worried looking Inuyasha.
"I don't know, probably from last night." He barred his fangs a little before pulling himself together.
"The cuts look deep."
"Yeah, glass must have cut me." She said remembering Naraku broke that damn lamp. "It's okay, I didn't even notice them." Inuyasha looked down for a minute before holding his hand up. She looked at him confused.
"Gimme your hand."
"W-why?"
"I won't hurt you just give me your hand." Hesitantly, she placed her hand in his, only for him to lick it a few times. It was as if he was healing it again. Her jaw dropped, as she took her hand away from him. I can't believe he did that in front of everyone. She thought. Not that it mattered because no one was paying attention to them, but she was always use to watching her back in case someone was.
"You shouldn't do that."
"Why not?" He asked. Instead of answering, she just said nothing. It wasn't long before Rin came back with the drinks.
"Okay have you decided what you wanna eat?" She asked pulling the notepad back out. Kagome didn't even look at the menu yet. She opened it up, trying to make her decision fast. But, there were so many choices, and she could only pick one.
"I'll have the New York Strip." Inuyasha said.
"Rare?" Rin asked.
"You know it."
"Okay, what about you Kagome?"
"They all look so good." She whispered making the two laugh.
"I can come back if you're not ready."
"No thanks, I think I'll have the chicken marsala." Rin nodded.
"With what vegetable?"
"Um…asparagus." Inuyasha made a face causing her to giggle.
"Okay, it will be out in a moment." Rin put her notepad in her pocket and started to leave to place the order.
"Hey Rin." Inuyasha called out before she left.
"Yeah?"
"Have you talked to Sesshomaru, yet?" Her smiled dimmed down for a brief second before returning.
"Let's not talk about him, Inuyasha." With that she walked away.
"Who's Sesshomaru?" Kagome asked.
"My asshole of a half- brother."
"I didn't know you had a brother."
"Half- brother." It was more than obvious that Sesshomaru did something to Rin from her expression, but Kagome didn't think it wasn't any of her business so she didn't ask. She started drinking some of her tea when another song came on. More people started to get on the dance floor, mostly couples. The beat of the song was mellow and romantic.
I could lose my heart tonight
if you don't turn and walk away
Inuyasha smirked at Kagome.
"Let's dance." He said making me laugh.
"No way. I can't dance." He came around the table and grabbed her hands.
"It's fine. I'll help." She smiled, letting him lead her to the dance floor.
'Cause the way I feel I might
Lose control and let you stay
'Cause I could take in my arms
and never let go
They stopped in the middle of the dance floor. Kagome had no idea what to do 'cause she never danced with anyone. When she felt his hands hold her waist, she held her breath, blushing. Nervously, she just placed her hands on his shoulders and rocked her hips to the beat.
"See you're not bad." He said. She smiled looking away from him.
I could fall in love with you
I could fall in love with you
Inuyasha held her a little tighter, bringing her closer to him. This made her a bit more nervous, her stomach filled with butterflies. So she looked down, trying to hide her expression from him. But, she wasn't fooling him.
I can only wonder how
Touching you would make me feel
But if I take that chance right now
Tomorrow will you want me still
So I should keep this to myself
And never let you know
The feeling they shared made Kagome comfortable. She laid her head down on his chest while they danced. Inuyasha felt so soft, and relaxing to her. He leaned down, inhaled her scent before kissing her head a couple times. She smiled feeling his lips go from her head down to her shoulder. She was a little anxious to find out where his lips would end up. She closed her eyes in bliss, swaying her hips to the music along with his.
I could fall in love with you
I could fall in love with you
And I know it's not right
And I guess I should try to do what I should do
But I could fall in love, fall in love with you
I could fall in love with you
Siempre estoy sonando en ti
Besando mis labios, acariciando mi piel
Abrazandome con ansias locas
Imaginando que me amas
Como yo podia amar a ti.
One of Inuyasha hands slid up Kagome's arm, to her neck then lifted her chin. His golden eyes met with her brown ones.
So I should keep this to myself
And never let you know
Gazing into each others eyes, it felt as if time had stop. Nothing else mattered but that moment. Slowly, Inuyasha began to lean towards her. Kagome didn't even notice until his lips came in contact with hers. Her eyes widened in surpise.
I could fall in love with you
I could fall in love with you
Kagome couldn't believe it. This was my first actual kiss, and it was being shared with Inuyasha. She thought to herself. It started with his lips gradually touching hers, and then he started to gently suck on her bottom lip. Inuyasha wrapped his arms around Kagome tighter, as if not wanting to let go. This experience was new to her, but she wanted nothing more than to explore it. Eventually, he released her from his lips and caressed the side of her face. She smiled, not enough words to explain how she felt. He then looked up.
"Hey the food's ready." He said grabbing her hand back to the table.
I could fall in love, I could fall in love
With you...
It was past nine before Inuyasha took Kagome home. Never has she had so much fun since before her mom died. My first date and I learned how to dance, somewhat. Pretty soon, they pulled up at her house, at the bottom of the stairs. They both got out the car, the cold air chilling their bodies. This made Kagome wrap her arms around herself. Inuyasha saw this, took his sweater off and wrapped it around her. She smiled.
"Thanks, but don't you need it. It's pretty cold." He huffed.
"Demon blood, darlin'. I barely feel it." Kagome chuckled before looking at the stairs. Suddenly, her heart started pounding, as she came back to reality. Reality was that her life sucks, and now she had to go back to it. Hopefully, those assholes are drunk and won't notice if I slip into my room.
"I'm not really looking forward to going in." She confessed.
"Let's walk around." She smiled before nodding.
"Sounds like a good idea."
"Okay." He placed his arm around her shoulder as they started to walk. They didn't walk fast since there was no hurry.
"You know, you should smile more. You look cute." Inuyasha whispered. It sent her a chilling sensation.
"Shut up, no I don't." He snorted.
"Are you blind or something?" He asked.
"Very funny. I just think I'm not attractive."
"Why not?" She sighed.
"My so called family." She sat down on the curb. She wasn't planning on talking about them. Inuyasha knew too much as it was so this was a subject she wanted to avoid.
Inuyasha sat down next to her. Perhaps this was a time to get some answers. He didn't to forcefully get them, but he felt as though he waited long enough. He wanted to help her, and that would only work if she was willing to tell him what was going on with her life. Sure, she told me she gets abused but I want to know everything. He thought.
"Why do they hurt you?" He asked. Kagome shrugged.
"I don't know, they're just insane. I did nothing to them. I was a kid when I first met them so I couldn't have done anything evil."
"Then why don't they let you leave?"
"I asked myself that question like the 3rd time I tried to run away. I wasn't going to tell anyone about the horrible things they did to me. Just leave the city, and start a new life. I mean, I doubt anyone will believe me anyways. An example would be everyone at school. I just don't know." A tear slipped out from her eye; Inuyasha wiped it with his thumb.
"You have to get away from here." She chuckled.
"Sounds nice but how am I going to do that? I can't runaway because sooner or later I'll get caught."
"Live with me." Kagome was in shock. Maybe she was hearing things.
"What did you say?"
"Live with me." She wasn't hearing things. Inuyasha legit offered her a way out of her nightmare. However, she let out a small laugh.
"You're funny."
"Does it look like I'm laughing?" He said. Kagome stood up, the situation becoming more serious.
"Inuyasha what's going on?" He stood up as well, a confused look spread across his face.
"What do you mean?"
"Enough with the bull shit."
"Bull shit, what are you talking about?"
"You've been acting really nice to me. Before you wouldn't even speak to me. You even take me out on a date. That's nice and all, but now you want me to live with you? You barely know what's going on."
"Only cause you don't tell me shit."
"Ha ha, what is this a gag or something?"
"What? No."
"I bet this is a joke. You were paid to do this." Kagome was losing it again. Being that she was hurt for years, she started having thoughts that maybe Inuyasha would hurt her as well. He didn't seem like the type to do such a thing but at the same time, she wasn't sure if she wanted to take that chance.
"No Kagome, don't be stupid."
"Don't call me stupid."
"Well you are when you're acting like this."
"Oh, because I want to protect myself, I'm stupid."
"No because you're running your damn mouth without thinking." This bastard… She thought throwing his jacket before walking away. Inuyasha grabbed her arms, forcing her to look at him. She was annoyed by him, so she started to struggle.
"Leave me alone."
"Stop Kagome."
"No get off me." She started crying, which made Inuyasha nervous. How did he make her cry? "I won't be tricked. I won't get hurt any more. Not by you or any one else. I can't…. I can't…." She was so frustrated that she dropped to the ground and started crying harder. She was embarrassed that she was crying in front of him, but she felt as if she needed to let out her pain. Inuyasha sat in front of her, wrapping his arms around her, letting her cry on his shoulder.
"It's ok." He said combing her hair with his fingers. Kagome took her bag and pulled out her inhaler. She took a few puffs, now relaxing. "You gotta calm down. You're killing yourself."
"Easy for you to say. I can't trust anyone Inuyasha. Those assholes I live with ruined my life. They destroyed my freedom, my soul…I fucking hate them."
"Shhh." I heard him. "What did I tell you Kagome? Relax, you can trust me. I won't hurt you like those sons of bitches, okay?" She sniffled then gave him a weak smile.
"I'll try." He picked up his jacket then wrapped it back around her. After that, Inuyasha placed his hand under her chin, then kissed her lips, making her blush.
"Come live with me. It'll be alright. I can't have them hurt you again." She sighed.
"Inuyasha, even if I wanted to, I don't think I could."
"Why?"
"I'm not eighteen yet. The police would show up at you're door saying I have to go back."
"Just try it Kagome. My parents wouldn't let that happen. My dad owns a law firm and my mom's a doctor. You think they're just gonna let you leave and go back to be killed?"
"I can get by."
"You can't Kagome. I won't let you. What if you go back and I never see you alive again? How would I live with my self?"
"I'd be an inconvenience to your family."
"You won't. Stop making excuses."
"I-I just don't want you to get hurt."
" No one will get hurt." They walked until they reached her house once again.
"Look, I need to get something."
"Kagome…"
"Please. I'll be okay. I'll just grab this one thing and be out."
"Fine, but if anything happens to you…" She smiled.
"I'll be fine." Inuyasha kissed her one last time.
"You have five minutes before I come after you." She nodded before walking up the stairs. She hoped it wouldn't get to that, so she had to get out of there. But this was it, Kagome had to be strong about this.
She was getting out of that hell.
