Chapter 5:
The scene changed to show the inside of the car.
„Where to, Sir?" asked Happy from the front.
„Take us to the hospital please Happy," said Pepper.
„No," interrupted Tony Pepper.
„No?" she asked. „Tony, you have to go to the hospital." She stared at him.
„No I don´t have to do anything, I´ve been in captivity for three months."
„Three months?" cried everyone who didn´t know.
„It didn´t seem that long maybe a week or two," said Steve.
„Oh, how I wish it was that long," responded Tony.
„There are two things I want to do. First I want an American cheeseburger and the other-"
But Pepper Interrupted him and said, „That´s enough of that."
Everyone laughed.
„It´s not what you think, I want you to call for a press conference now."
„Call for a press conference, Now? What on earth for?"
„Yes," he turned to Happy. „Hogan drive cheeseburger first."
They began to drive.
The car came to what was obviously Stark Industries.
The people there began to clap as they got out of the car.
„Look who´s here. Hey," said Obediah pulling Tony into a hug. „I thought I was gonna meet you at the hospital. Look at you."
Happy came around the car and held a burger king bag out to Tony.
„Of course you had to have a burger, did you get me one of those?" asked Obediah.
„There´s only one left for me." And with that, they went inside the building.
The people in there began to clap too.
There was a shot of Pepper sighing. A man came to her and it was Coulson.
„Son of Coul," cried Thor throwing his hands up to the air, while Tony cried, „Agent!"
„Ms. Potts," he asked. „Yes?" responded Pepper.
„Can I speak to you for a Moment?" asked Coulson.
„I´m not part of the, um, the press conference but its about to begin right now."
„I´m not a reporter, I´m Agent Phil Coulson with the Strategic Homeland Intervention Enforcement and Logistics Division." He said this by handing her a card.
„That´s quite a mouthful," said Pepper taking the card.
„I know we´re working on it."
„You have an entire Agency, but not one of you got the idea that it spelled out Shield?" asked Bruce.
Fury just rolled his eye.
„You know, we´ve already been approached by the DOD the FBI the CIA.."
„We are a separate division with a more specific focus. We need to debrief Mr. Stark about the circumstances of his escape."
„I´ll put something in the book, shall I?" she said turning towards the podium.
„Thank you," he said turning away.
„Ahhhh," said Obediah standing at the podium, looking around for Tony
Tony sat on the ground in front of it. „Hey would it be alright if everyone sat down, why don´t you just sit down, that way you can see me and I can...a little less formal." Everyone began to sit down.
„You really made them sit down?" asked Steve exasperated.
„What´s up with the love in?" asked Rhodey approaching Pepper.
„Don´t look at me I don´t know what he´s up to."
Tony turned to Obediah and said, „Good to see you."
Obediah responded, „Good to see you too," laying a hand on Tony´s shoulder.
„I never got to say goodbye to dad," he said to Obediah.
„I never got to say goodbye to my father," he said out loud to the reporters.
„There are questions I would ask him, I would ask him how he felt about what his company did if he was conflicted if he ever had doubts or maybe he was every inch the man we all remember from the newsreels."
The shot changed to show Pepper and Rhodey.
„I saw young Americans killed by the very weapons I created to defend them and protect them, and I saw that I had become part of the system that´s comfortable with zero accountability,
„Mr. Stark?" asked a few reporters.
Tony picked a man in the front. „What happened over there?" he asked.
„Wait for it," said Pepper.
„I´ve had my eyes opened, I came to realize that I have more to offer," he gets up. „This world than just making things blow up, that´s why I effective immediately am shutting down the weapons manufacturing division of Stark International."
„There you go," continued Pepper as everyone dropped their jaws.
Pepper´s jaw dropped. Then there was an uproar as Obediah and the reporters jump up. „Until such a time as I can decide what the future of this company will be what direction it should take the one I´m comfortable with and is consistent with the highest good of this country and the world."
Obediah attempted to stop Tony from speaking further with yelling ´okay, okay´.
He led Tony down the stairs, it cut to Rhodey´s face. He looked disappointed.
„What we should take from this, um, is that Tony is back, and he´s healthier than ever," said Obediah.
„Just like that?" asked Clint.
„Just like that," answered Tony.
The view changed to show the company from above and Obediah riding a segway towards Happy who stood beside the car.
„Where is he?" he asked Happy.
„He´s inside," responded Happy taking over the Segway.
Obediah took a security card out of his jacket and went inside.
Inside was Tony who stood in front of what was obviously the arc reactor that powered the factory.
„Oh my god," said Darcy. „That thing is huge."
„That´s what she said," responded Tony, grinning.
This time it was Pepper who slapped him.
Everyone just rolled their eyes.
„Well, that went well," said Obediah turning to Tony.
„Did I just paint a target on the back of my head?" Tony asked.
„Your head? What about my head, what do you think the over under of the stock drop will be?" asked Obediah walking over to Tony.
„Optimistically? Forty points," responded Tony, taking off his jacket and tie.
„At the minimum, Tony we´re a weapons manufacturer."
„I just don´t want our only legacy to be a body count, that´s it."
„It´s what we do, we´re Iron monger´s we make weapons," said Obediah.
„My name is on the side of the building."
„That doesn´t necessarily have to mean anything," said Fury.
„What we do is keep the world from falling into chaos."
„Not based on what I saw, we´re not doing a good enough job, we can do better, we´re gonna do something else," said Tony trying to reason with Obediah.
„Like what you want us to make baby bottles?" he said looking Tony in the eyes.
„ I think we should take another look at arc reactor technologies."
„Oh C´mon the arc reactor? That`s a publicity stunt," he said throwing an arm into the air. „Tony C´mon we built that thing to shut the hippies up."
„It works." „Yes as a science project, the arc was never effective we knew that before we built it, arc reactor technology that´s a dead end, right?"
„Maybe," said Tony looking at it.
„Huh, am I right? We haven't had a breakthrough in that for what...thirty years?" said Obediah raising his eyebrows.
„That´s what they say," said Tony narrowing his eyes at Obediah. „Could you have a lousier poker face? Just tell me who told you."
„Never mind who told me, show me," said Obediah pointing at Tony´s chest.
„You know he basically just asked you if he could see your chest?" asked Clint.
Natasha just slapped him on the head.
„It´s Rhodey or Pepper," stalled Tony.
„I want to see it," said Obediah.
„Okay, Rhodey," he said matter of factly.
Tony unfastened his sling and it fell to the floor. He opened up his shirt and Obediah saw the arc reactor before he closed Tony´s shirt again.
„Ok? It works," said Tony looking Obediah in the eyes.
Obediah put his arm around Tony´s shoulders and said, „Listen to me, Tony. We´re a team, you understand? There´s nothing we can´t do if we stick together like your father and I."
„I´m sorry I didn´t give you a heads up, Ok? But if I had then," said Tony.
„Tony, no more of this `ready fire aim `business, you understand me?"
„That was dad´s line," said Tony looking at Obediah.
„You gotta let me handle this," said Obediah taking a step back. „We´re gonna have to play some different kind of ball now. We´re gonna have to take a lot of heat, but you have to promise me you´re gonna lay low."
„Excuse me, have you met Tony Stark?" said Bruce.
Everyone began to laugh. Tony just scowled.
So I know that this chapter is pretty short compared to my other ones but this is really difficult to write because I have to watch the movie and stop every few seconds to listen to what they´re saying, I hope you still like it.
