Aftermath
Hermione changed in front of his eyes and now he could recognize her, she was a mix, she had her father's looks, but the body and hair was, as far as he could see, the grandmother's.
After that, he couldn't remember anything.
Next Day
He woke up feeling confused. He was in the Dower's house, but he was alone. He didn't find Hermione but didn't look much in the bottom floor. He went to the main house.
As soon as he arrived his father stood up to greet him. His mother stood farther behind. She seemed strange. Was she scared? Was she looking over her shoulder? He noticed a new bracelet, it looked like an Auror's device kind of. He tried to greet her, but she looked the other way.
His father whispered, "Let's go to your place." And louder, "Sure let's go there."
They Apparated there, within the allowed. As soon as they arrived, Draco noticed two very tall Muggles standing by the Floo. In the drawing room to the left Hermione sat with a couple and, what was his name? Ah, yes, her cousin, the much too beautiful Wilbur. His stomach ached; it was jealousy.
They went to the dining room to get breakfast. He noticed a large spread and another Muggle making sure all was fresh and warm. This one was dressed like a chef, what was going on? Draco kept trying to remember something happened, ah yes, he made love to his wife. A grin from ear to ear graced his face. Then a little sadness, she wasn't his, of that he was certain.
His father asked him, "Are you okay?"
"Yes, why?" What a strange question.
"Not sure, part of the manor collapsed, trees and shrubbery are burned to cinders, the ground is full of holes."
Lucius came to hold Draco in a fatherly embrace, "I had a horrible dream, a fight out of a nightmare, a horde of demons, fighting against angels and giants but all is fuzzy, who knows?" He lowered his voice, "Axel said it wasn't a dream. Be careful around your mother, I started a divorce, she is dangerous. Axel told me that I should keep a guard next to me. Her parents told me they would have guards here. It worries me." He walked to get more tea.
"Her parents? Those with my wife are her parents?"
"Yes, the found us, they have money, presumptuous Muddies, ouch," he rubbed his neck. "I hate those zaps. It seems that they don't approve of us, ha! They are keeping an eye on us, with that intent there are at least are five giants out there. They must be Slavs of some kind; I think they were the ones in the fight…never mind."
He couldn't remember much, a fight, nah. Her grandfather was scary, but how? Hermione was what? Ah, that he remembered, but it was a secret.
The Floo activated, it was his mother followed by one of the giants.
"I don't want to stay alone, more of the Mudbloods have come," she doubled in pain. The word Mudblood wasn't allowed, she forgot.
Narcissa was looking over her shoulder. She was afraid, she was the only one who remembered most. She had seen Bella taken away by dark figures; her demon king also taken in chains. As for her, she was under threat if she tried to let them back, which she would try. She and Bella would also rule over the Muggles. She hated the Mudblood.
"Mother, Hermione's father and mother came, let's meet them."
"I will wait her, I prefer to stay away." What was she thinking about a few second before? Ah, Bella, she wondered if, if what, she couldn't remember.
They came in the room to greet the visitors. The parents were polite but curt. Draco, just as his father before, was surprised at how young her parents looked. The mother was Hermione, or the size, the hair and looks were the father's or maybe, not sure. Wait, he remembered something.
"Hemione, I thought your father was dead, am I wrong?"
The father held Hermione on to his chest, she sat on his lap. He kissed her head, ever so often, the mother, had her hand oh Hermione as well. Meanwhile the father had his eyes trained on Lucius giving him dark, ominous looks.
Hermione looked at Draco, "Not sure where you heard it; you are wrong. He was badly injured by Death Eaters, but he made a recovery." Her statement was followed by several soft growls from the guards.
Draco and his dad missed the looks that passed between the Grangers.
"Did you hear, the Weasley and your friends are all gone, they disappeared. My friends' children are all back at home, no sense to keep them isolated."
"You don't say, " Hermione answered. "Good for them, too bad I cannot do the same."
Draco knew why, he remembered. But before he could say, he looked at her put a finger over her mouth. Now Draco remembered but only a little. He recalled what he knew about his mother and aunt Bella, he shivered.
His father excused himself, so Draco followed his father moving as far from Narcissa as possible.
"Son, your mother is leaving. She has to go." He looked puzzled somehow, it sounded like a good idea but not sure why. He also didn't know that she would be in monastery, to keep an eye on her.
"She can come back from time to time, not sure why, but Muctis says it is best."
"Until when?" Draco asked, hoping it was for keeps.
"No idea." Lucius answered.
Till forever, he just didn't know yet. However, she had a chance to mend her ways, but a short time to do it.
"Father, I want to move to a cottage in the end of the estate, " Draco knew there were no tunnels there.
They hadn't noticed but Hermione's father, taller than Lucius, was behind them. "Watching your son and his wife being intimate is punishable by death where I come from."
Lucius turned so red that he looked unnatural. Draco looked at him, "Never, ever do that again. If you cost me my wife, know that I'll never marry again."
Lucius turned around and left.
A month went by, rumors of Kingsley's troubles came daily. He was under investigation, several of his countrymen had been deported. He couldn't meet alone with anyone, Percy or Arthur Weasley were present at every meeting, but still, he refused to let Hermione out the marriage. He was still looking for the missing grooms and brides. He was an ass who would soon be out and not in a good way.
Draco had a cow when the grandfather visited; he remembered how he looked. The grandfather would always give him a sinister smile, but not an angry one. Draco had no idea about his new gifts or his new long life. They all remember Draco's valor, if only he weren't Lucius son.
Lucius reminded him daily to stay away from Hermione, to not make her pregnant; he had no idea. Besides, she never allowed Draco more than a light kiss, although he never tried more. They were second guessing each other and miserable. Hermione wanted to wait for Harry and Ron, or did she?
She was no longer sure. Draco was a different person than the one she used to know. Always at her beck and call, he was funny, like to do read-a-thons with her, and much more. They were much alike, and slowly but surely he was growing on her. If not for his parents maybe she would feel different.
Draco didn't really have much time with her. Daily, they had visitors who just popped, females of Hermione's size. Her Grandmother always came with seven females. They all were petite, dressed in alluring garments, and had stern faces. He could see they carried weapons everywhere. They were always different, an entire army of them.
Lucius saw them and his eyes nearly popped, but his mind was again erased. But the more he saw them, some slight memories remained. He had dreams of petite beauties walking around naked. He was aghast; he thought that he was being a pervert and dreaming about his son's wife.
The visiting females always asked her a million questions. At the end of the visits , they would put their hands on her belly. Every time they went delirious with happiness, started talking gibberish, dancing around, celebrating. Invariably, they kissed Hermione, and gave Draco an evil eye. It was rather annoying.
"You don't deserve her, for now she remains, she holds life that we thought impossible before."
Hermione looked at them every time, it was getting old.
"You are not taking-my children, not ever, nor will I go with you."
"But my dear, you need a proper consort, the…"
Draco could see her eyes; the reaction was always the same, she went in shut down mode, zero listening. It made him hopeful.
One day the grandmother kissed Hermione, "Your Papa and I are uniting, it is no longer forbidden. There are a hundreds of requests to acknowledge other children of ours with your Papa's warriors," she giggled naughtily, "I wasn't the only one, our males are nothing like them, tall but well, not the same. I will be with my love; you must come to the celebration. We will wait for you." She whispered, "Be careful of his father, he is a fool. Dobby sends you his regards, he is with me as a reward for his valor."
Hermione grinned.
Draco didn't like Wilbur's visits, the cousin had feelings for his wife, and he was what? Something he couldn't remember. Wilbur sat by him and told him, "You don't want to remember. And you are correct, she was promised to me long ago. If not I, there is a list miles long. At least you know me. Ah, don't worry; it won't happy right away, in a few decades." Wilbur grinned making Draco dislike the blond god.
Whereas Hermione would not allow closeness, Draco hoped that they could be real husband and wife. But as the days went by, she wasn't sure she wanted her boys back, not at all. She loved them, but if so she wanted Draco more. Her mother had told her, "Sometimes our feelings change, we can find them some of my mother's soldiers. The fact you are pregnant makes them all hopeful. Humans clean souls are very attractive."
Lucius was coming that evening. Hermione was starting to show in the account of more than one baby. Narcissa was in for a visit. She hated the visits, Lucius checked her from head to toe.
Back at the beginning (The day Lucius found out)
Draco was burning for his wife, he wanted a chance with her. He wanted to let her see how proud he was of his baby. He forgot there was more than one. This night, he asked her to wear the form fitting robe, the one that showed the small bump.
His parents had come, Lucius noticed the bump, and he was duly notified.
Once that Lucius had a fit and sat on the ground to drink the Firewhisky, Hermione looked at Draco with new eyes. She looked at him, feeling his love for her, she squeezed his hand. His heart soared, there was hope, he felt it. He leaned and kissed her lips again. He was high in happiness.
Narcissa was sick thinking of the baby, she would do something. Suddenly, her angry feelings opened a little door to Bella. She knew to quiet her thoughts, and did just so,
Lucius was a Malfoy, he peeked to look at Draco touching her belly. A Halfblood was better than nothing. He started thinking, there was no denying, the witch was beautiful, her magic was extraordinary; her parents were rich, probably richer than him… The idea was growing very fast on him.
The next words made it better, "Draco, this is a good day to share, I am having twins one of each." Hermione told him.
Draco held her tight, "Thank you, thank you." She raised her face to him, and they kissed, open mouth.
Narcissa gagged, "Thanks for what? For ruining your life?" That did it, she knew what to do.
Her words were greeted with scary sounds from the guard posted by the door.
Before Draco could answer, Lucius stood up in one graceful movement. "Speak for your self, I made a mistake, I welcome the children. We never had twins, and witches had been very few. Say on more word, and you won't be back. Now, leave," he called the guard with his finger, "please escort her back to the Manor. Tell Axle to get her things ready."
Narcissa was peeved, but afraid of the guards.
The young couple were surprised. Draco was happy, but Hermione didn't trust Lucius. She was right.
"With her pregnant, we need you to move to the Manor. Need to prepare the nursery and…" Lucius was annoyed when Hermione raised her hand.
"Wrong, I am staying here until I can go home. We will be staying with my parents. They are my children not yours. And if you want to be close to them, I need to see you change."
"They are Malfoy's…" he started but Draco cut in.
"They are our babies, my wife's and mine. She is right, earn the right to be close to them."
Lucius was smart and fast thinking, he knew she had the upper hand, the two guards on the back of the room were grinning, they were transmitting the visit to her Grandfather who sat with her parents, Wilbur and his love. His granddaughter was without equal, they all agreed.
Lucius sighed, "So be it; now, may I?" He wanted to feel the babies.
He looked so pitiful that she allowed, when he placed his hand on her belly, he smiled and held his thoughts. Let her talk, Malfoy babies stayed with the father, when she was gone the law was clear.
Draco knew better, "Father, I hope you listened well, I mean it." As for his mother, he wanted her gone, he didn't trust her. Damn, why couldn't his parents let him be happy.
Hermione whispered, "Let's go to bed early."
He looked at her, and to Lucius' horror, Draco ruined the night, again.
''I want the world to know, I love you. I hope you stay with me. I am my own person, you must know that by now."
She smiled and kissed his hand.
