A/N: I'm sorry I left it so long, I had most of this written up ages ago but my life got a bit hectic and I'm sorry to say, I forgot about it. I started to write it all again today but after a while I remembered I'd already done it and found it and... I'm boring you so on with the story!

Chapter Nineteen: law Suit

Beck is silent for what seems forever as he contemplates how to explain everything to Tori and Jade without potentially ruining everything they have together or upsetting either of the girls; Alex and Jennifer. They weren't his children but he still wanted to be a good father figure to them and someone they could rely on at all times. It was purely for them that he'd even started this goose chase.

"Well?" Jade demands impatiently, Tori sighs and rubs circles on her girlfriends back in an attempt to soothe her. Beck runs his hand through his hair a habit he had had since high school, usually it meant that something was bothering him or along those lines.

"It's like this… The hospital…" He begins but cuts himself off mid-sentence, suddenly losing his nerve.

"Take your time, Beck" Tori smiles at him. He nods and takes a deep breath, if he was going to say this he had to say it now before he couldn't and they never knew.

"The day that Alex and Jennifer were born the hospital was busy trying to bury a secret, one of the high-rated doctors there had made a huge mistake a week before and they had managed to keep it from the press. Doctor Parton, had accidently gave a girl the wrong medication that had put her in a coma and she died not long after. If he'd been more careful she might have lived. Of course your timing was bad; I mean both of you giving birth in the same hospital… I've actually always wondered why you never saw each other" Beck explained, smiling at the end of his paragraph. He caught his breath and watched to see what Tori and Jade's facial expressions were doing. He decided to let it sink in a bit before continuing with his story.

"Go on" Jade urged, leaning forward to listen as if he were a really interesting television show.

"Of course the media knew about you two and the media were already hanging about when Jade got there, she was there first there were articles written about it but never published as the hospital shut it down in order to protect their doctor. They bribed the press, I don't exactly know with what but that's what I heard… Anyway, so Jade and her husband, Thomas arrived at the hospital and from what I already know from Jade she made him go away when they were there and Thomas was wondering about. He went back to the room after Alex/Jennifer was born and Jade was holding her she gave him to her and as she was exhausted she fell asleep. A nurse came in and he handed her to her, the nurse proceeded to take her to the baby unit." Beck reported. Jade and Tori nodded and gave him time to catch his breath before he continued.

"While all that was happening, Jennifer/Alex was born and when Tori was ready to go to sleep a nurse took the baby to the baby unit and Tori's Ex was there… He'd heard about Tori going in to labour. I guess Tori to ring Trina and Trina had called him and told him and I quote; "Be a man and get your stupid ass to the hospital, Tori is about to give birth to your child!" but he didn't want to see Tori for some reason so he waited for the nurse to place the baby in the Vega' cot so when she did he asked to hold her and said he was late but he was the baby's father. After a lot of bugging from Ryan the nurse gave in and when he put her back he put her in the wrong crib, the other nurse turned up with Jades baby and thought that she was going crazy because The West' cot had a baby in it already but she just put Jade's baby in the other one anyway… thinking it was just because she was over-tired" Beck finished.

"Wait… How did you find all this out?" Tori asked, confused.

"I asked all the right people. When you told me about the switch Jade, I decided to ask some questions… First I started with Trina and she told me about the phone call with Ryan… Apparently he'd told her he'd been there but he didn't mention placing the baby in the wrong crib… but I did get a hold of him and he told me the nurses first name… So after a lot of searching I found her and she said she'd left him to it… She mentioned the other nurse had been looking after Jade after the delivery and she vaguely remembered the confusion…" Beck explained, Tori and Jade faced each other.

"You're right Beck" Tori said first.

"We should file a law-suit!" Jade finished for her.

Later that day Tori and Jade got Alex and Jennifer alone and told them some of what Beck had told them, just the gist of it. They explained to them that they were going to hire a lawyer and file a law-suit against the hospital but explained that, that didn't mean they didn't care about them all the same.

Alex took it harder than Jennifer did and started to cry.

"So you wish that we were never switched?!" She wailed, tears streaming down her face.

"No... I'm glad I got to be your mother... But It still doesn't change the fact that the hospital made a big mistake and did nothing about it!" Tori stated, attempting to comfort the teenager.

"I guess we're just a little mad that this happened... It shouldn't have happened... I should have raised you and Tori should have raised Jennifer" Jade said, not realizing what she'd said until she'd said it. Jennifer started to sulk a little and Jade pulled her into a hug. "But saying that... It's the situation we don't like... The outcome was better but we think the hospital should still pay for what they've done!" Jade finished, both girls nodded and Alex wiped her eyes.

"Okay, we get it" Jennifer spoke for the both of them, and they left the room to find the rest of the kids. Jade turned to Tori and hugged her tight both of them starting to cry a little bit.
