Chapter Twenty One: Alex' rage

The date of the trail was due in about a week and both Tori and Jade had been busy preparing for it. Tori and Alex had unofficially moved in with Jade due to it being easier but there had been not talk of it being permanent. It was a Tuesday evening and Alex was walking home from school alone as she went to a different school than both Jennifer and Patrick.

She was taking her own sweet time getting home as lately the trial was all that was talked about and if she was being honest with herself she hated it. Jade and Tori had given them the; "No matter what happens we still love you" speech but she was having a hard time believing it.

"Excuse me miss" A voice called from behind her, she turned quickly and eyed the man suspiciously. He was holding a microphone and had a camera woman behind him.

"Uh… Hi" Alex replied, in confusion.

"Are you Alex Vega?" He asked her, she nodded hesitantly and raised her eyebrow in a very Jade like fashion.

"Why?" She wandered.

"We'd like to ask you a few questions" He responded, hoping she'd comply easily.

"What about?" she asked despite the fact that she had a pretty good idea. Her parents were both in the 'Performing Arts' industry. Jade being a famous actor, film-maker, writer and singer (The occasional single) and Tori had been a famous singer and still is even though she mainly deals with the technical side of it now.

"Your parents are due to go to trial next week about you and Jennifer West being switched at birth, Is that correct?" The reporter asked.

"Yes" Alex replied, starting to feel a bit queasy. The whole trial thing really got to her and made her feel ill to think about what her life would have been like if she'd been raised by Jade instead of Tori but when she did think about that she felt guilty as if she was betraying her mother somehow and no matter which way she played it in her head somebody would get hurt.

"I'm sorry, No comment" She quickly snapped at the reporter and turned abruptly to leave.

"Miss Vega, I just want to ask you a few questions" The reporter practically begged but Alex kept running. Alex approached Jade's street and slowly turned to make sure she was no longer being followed then sighed when she realized she wasn't.

"Why are you late Alex?" Jade asked, when she walked through the front door.

"Where's mom?" Alex asked, looking around for Tori.

"She had to work late today, but I asked you a question!" Jade replied, crossing her arms.

"I was being followed by reporters" Alex replied, the annoyance of it all being evident in her tone.

"Oh, Did you answer any questions?" Jade wandered, starting to get a little worried about her birth daughter.

"Not really" Alex replied as she seated herself on the couch.

"Do you want to talk about it?" Jade questioned, sitting next to the teenager.

"Not really" Alex replied, in a slightly hostile tone. In all honesty Alex still felt that if she accepted Jade as a mother figure then she'd be betraying Tori in a way.

"Come on Alex, I just want to help" Jade sighed.

"Can't you accept that I don't want your help!" Alex snapped, as she stood up and stormed upstairs to Jennifer's bedroom. Jennifer was sitting at her desk doing her homework. Alex suddenly felt rage overcome her. She hated the fact that she was taken away from her own room and had to share with Alex now, She hated the fact that Jade was continuously trying to be a motherly figure to her, she hated the fact that Tori had been working a lot lately, she hated the fact that she had never met her father and now she never would and she also hated the fact that those reporters had come up to her today but what she hated the most was that she'd been put in this situation in the first place.

The teenager wanted to scream and shout, she wanted to tear the place apart and she wanted to cry. Suddenly her emotions got the best of her and she was tearing apart the bed she'd been sleeping in for the last few days, she started tearing up bits of paper from her school bag not caring whether or not they were important until suddenly she heard Jennifer screaming for Jade to help Alex and Jade was telling Jennifer to go and check on dinner.

"Calm down, Alex" Jade tried to soothe the young girl, as she frantically looked for things to ruin. So far she'd only ruined her own things but as this was Jennifer's room and not all of Alex' things were in here she was getting dangerously close to ruining Jennifer's stuff too.

"Alex, Stop it!" Jade demanded but she ignored Jade's demand and went straight for the pair of scissors on Jennifer's desk and was about to cut her hair. Jade took immediate action. She lunged for the scissors and pried them out of Alex' hand whilst still being careful she shoved the scissors into her pocket and grabbed Alex's wrists.

"Alex, What the hell is going on!" Jade asked, staring straight into the girls eyes. Alex burst into tears as Jade let go and she flung herself on Jennifer's bed.

"I'm sorry, I'm really really sorry... Do you hate me now?!" Alex wept. Jade felt the urge to laugh but chose not to as it wasn't really the time. Jade sat next to her and put her arm around her.

"Of course not, Alex! I could never hate you! I understand that you're going through a tough time. When I was your age I used to react badly to situations, I'm just glad you haven't threatened anyone with violence or hurt anyone else. I just wish you'd have come to me or to Tori, you do realize that we were young once too and we're in the same situation as you're in... just the mother side of it" Jade said, giving her a big hug and wiping her tears.

Alex looked around at the mess she created.

"Is mom going to kill me?" Alex wandered, worriedly.

"No, don't be silly... Look we'll clean this mess up and try and replace anything valuable you might have ruined and then we'll go have dinner... Although, this time you're getting off lightly but if this ever happens again you will be grounded. Got that?" Jade wandered, Alex nodded.

They were done cleaning the mess by the time Tori was home and dinner was served. No word of it was mentioned at dinner where they were eating cheese and potato pie with peas and chicken nuggets on the side. The table was silent and Tori turned to Jade with questioning look. Jade mouthed; "I'll fill you in later" and continued eating her dinner.

"Mom, can I go over Cat's today?" Patrick wandered.

"Uh, sure... as long as Cat's okay with it and you and Charlie stay out of trouble!" Jade warned, knowing exactly what her son was like when he was with his best friend.

"But I thought The Grandparents were coming over today" Jennifer said, referring to Jade's parents.

"They are, Patrick will be okay over there" Jade replied.

"but they hardly ever visit, won't grams be annoyed that he's not here?" Jennifer wandered.

"No, Jenn because I said it's okay" Jade nearly shouted, Tori watched Jade in confusion.

"I didn't know your parents were due for a visit today" Tori noted, Jade nodded.

"Yeah, Sorry. I kind of forgot to mention it. I tried to get out of it but my mom wouldn't take no for an answer!" Jade sighed.

"Oh, well I'll be looking forward to meeting them" Tori smiled, between bites of her dinner.

"Yeah... me too" Alex said, this being the first thing she'd said during dinner. Jade smiled hoping that Alex was over her little fit of anger, she seemed to be. The rest of dinner was silent and slowly everyone began to go in their separate ways. Patrick left the house for Cat's down the road, Alex went to the living room and Jennifer went upstairs as Jade and Tori went to the kitchen to clean up.

"So... what did I miss?" Tori asked, as she had sensed that something had gone on during her absence.

"Well, Alex kind of had a disagreement with her things and teared her things about earlier. She nearly cut her hair" Jade whispered.

"Oh... so what did you do?" Tori wandered.

"I stopped her before it got any worse and calmed her down. She was in a bit of a state, I don't think she really knew what she was doing to be honest. She'd been stopped by reporter's on her way home from school but I don't think that's really why it happened. I just think it's everything piling on" Jade explained, quietly as she placed dishes in the dishwasher.

"Should I go and talk to her?" Tori wandered, still unclear on the situation.

"I think she needs a bit of time, but I think we should talk to her tonight after my parents have been and gone. I'm hoping it'll make her feel a little bit better" Jade replied, Tori nodded.

"Okay, well if you think thats what we should do then I'll do it!" Tori sighed, as this was a delicate situation and Alex had never really gone to these levels before but Jade seemed to have handled it well and there wasn't really much else she could do to help. Jade pulled Tori in a tight hug and began to kiss her cheek.

"Jade is this really the time?" Tori chuckled.

"Not really... but I want to ask you something!" Jade replied, a thought had just occurred to her and she couldn't wait to voice it.

"What?" Tori asked, confused.

"I think we should officially move in together, we should place the girls in the same school... which ever one they both agree on... Of course Patrick can stay where he is... but we should move somewhere other than my place or your place... somewhere that can be home to everyone!" Jade rambled, excitedly.

"Jade, have you even thought this through?" Tori wandered, Jade shook her head.

"No, but I think it will help everyone especially Alex! Come on, think about it Tori! It really is the best time, I mean of course we'll move after the trial but it's perfect. I mean we're all already a family and I love you and..." Jade rambled, stopping herself when she'd realized she'd said 'I love you' without realizing. Tori looked at Jade in awe.

"Do you really mean that Jade?" Tori wandered, her stomach doing somersaults. Jade nodded.

"Yeah, I love you Tori Vega!" Jade said truthfully as pulled the woman in a deep passionate kiss.

"I love you too, Jade. More than you'd ever believe!" Tori stated as they pulled away, Jade smiled and kissed Tori again.

"So are we doing this then? Moving in?" Jade asked, Tori couldn't help but smile.

"Yeah, I think we are!" Tori said, happily.
