Chapter Twenty Two: Meet Jade's parents
"So are we doing this then? Moving in?" Jade asked, Tori couldn't help but smile.
"Yeah, I think we are!" Tori said, happily. The excitement was cut short though as the doorbell went off.
"And that'll be my parents" Jade groaned, as she reluctantly pulled away from Tori to answer the door.
"Hey, mom, dad" Jade greeted her parents. Her mother was tall and had short dyed black hair due to the fact the fifty-nine year Old's hair had started to grey, Jade's father was standing next to her wearing a business-like suit, his expression was emotionless as he held his hand out to shake Jade's as if she was just one of his clients.
"Well aren't you going to let us in Jadelyn dear?" Emma smiled, Jade nodded as she stepped aside allowing them to enter her house.
"So, where are our grandchildren?" Emma wandered, craning her neck to look for them as if they were about to appear or something.
"Patrick's gone over to his friend's house and the girls are upstairs" Jade told her.
"Okay, well aren't you going to offer to make us a cup of tea?" Emma added. Jade rolled her eyes, her parents had only been here five minutes and they were already getting on her nerves. Jade walked her parents to the kitchen, where Tori was pulling out four mugs and had the kettle boiling.
"Who's this, Jade?" Peter asked, this being the first thing he'd said since he'd arrived, before he'd just been standing there awkwardly.
"Mom, dad… this is Tori Vega. She's my girlfriend, Jennifer's bio-logical mother and the woman who raised Alex. If you've got a problem with it speak up now or forever hold your peace" Jade introduced in a fast and hostile like way. She kissed Tori quickly after the introduction to make it more clear to her parents, that Tori was her girlfriend.
"Oh well um… that's… I wasn't expecting that Jadelyn… um" Emma stuttered, seemingly uncomfortable.
"It's nice to meet you Mr and Mrs West" Tori broke the silence, she held her hand out to shake to which Emma took but Peter just stared at it before her reluctantly shook his only daughters girlfriend's hand.
"Likewise" Peter said, with hardly any emotion.
"So how do you like your tea?" Tori asked quickly, changing the subject.
"Black no sugar, please dear" Emma replied, kindly.
"I'll just have water please" Peter said, Tori nodded and poured him a glass of water with ice.
"Thanks… uh… Tammy" Peter mumbled.
"It's Tori" Jade corrected her sixty year old father, with irritation. Jennifer came running into the kitchen.
"Grams!" she squealed excitedly, as she gave the fifty-nine year old a hug.
"Hello, Jenny dear" Emma beamed.
"So where's our other granddaughter, Alex?" Peter wandered, Jennifer forced a smile at the lack of attention she was receiving from her grandfather.
"I'll go get her" Jade offered, just as an excuse to get away from the people who claimed to be her parents.
"Hey, Alex are you alright now?" Jade asked as she entered the girl's room. Alex was reading a sci-fi book.
"Yeah, what's going on down there?" Alex wandered as she tore her attention away from her book.
"My parents are downstairs, they want to meet you… but you don't have to if you're not up for it today… to be honest, I'd rather be anywhere else but in the same room as them right now" Jade joked.
"Why? What's wrong with them?" Alex questioned, curiously.
"Well… Let's just say I didn't have a great time growing up in their house… they never really understood me and what I was all about… they never tried" Jade admitted, sadly.
"Oh, what's that like?" Alex asked, as she had never felt that way about her mom.
"Well, it sucked when I was younger but I learned to get used to it" Jade sighed, Alex nodded as if she understood but of course she didn't, not really.
"So… I guess I should at least make an appearance" Alex joked, Jade chuckled.
"Trust me, if we sneak out right now they wouldn't notice we were gone for three hours" Jade admitted, remembering all those times she'd been told to meet someone who was visiting when she was growing up and she'd just sneak out of her bedroom window.
"Really? Should we sneak out?" Alex asked excitedly.
"No, I can't do that to your mother!" Jade sighed.
"Come on, before Tori comes looking for us" Jade said, as she lead the teenager out of the room to meet her parents.
"Mom, Dad... this is Alex" Jade announced, as they walked into the kitchen. Emma and Peter's eye's both went really wide at the sight of their daughter's bio-logical daughter, Emma rushed to hug Alex who didn't hug back. She didn't really like hugging.
"Oh my gosh,. she's the spitting image of you Jadelyn!" Peter stated the obvious, he then turned to Emma and they both thought the same thing; 'Let's hope that her personality doesn't mirror Jade's too'. Alex sort of answered their un-asked question as she pulled away from Emma who was still hugging her.
"That's enough, I don't like hugging!" Alex complained, Tori gave her a scolding look but she didn't exactly blame her. Jade's parents weren't exactly the warm and loving type like her own were... well not in Trina's case.
"Sorry, dear... you know Jade how did you not notice this?" Emma asked, turning to Jade but Jennifer took it to heart and started to cry.
"Jennifer are you alright?" Tori asked, as she wrapped the teen in a hug and wiped her eyes.
"Mom, do you mind not speaking about this i front of the children." Jade asked, in complete irritation. Emma took one look at Jennifer and frowned.
"I'm sorry dear, I didn't mean to upset you" Emma apologized. Jennifer wiped her eyes and stepped away from Tori.
"It's okay" She lied, then walked out of the kitchen to go upstairs.
"Alex can you go up and check on your sister please?" Tori asked, Alex nodded before leaving. Tori then turned to Emma and Peter with pure anger written all over her face but before she could say anything, Jade beat her to the punch.
"I know you two are pretty old fashioned and frankly quite rude, but I at least thought you wouldn't start treating Jennifer any differently... So if you don't want to be a grandparent to Jennifer anymore just because of some DNA... then I won't allow you to be in any of my children's lives. You got that?" Jade snapped, they nodded then made their excuses to leave. Jade sighed a huge sigh of relief when they were gone.
"I thought they'd never leave!" Jade admitted, Tori smiled and kissed Jade.
"Don't worry, you still got me!" Tori assured her, Jade smiled as she pulled Tori in for another kiss.
