A/N: I apologize fort the wait but I'm back. Hope you like the next chapter...
angel1998- Sorry but because Alex and Jennifer weren't present during the birth (other than being born), they probably won't be going on trial.
Chapter Twenty Four: The Trial part two
Jade was furious but she kept her feelings aside so that she could go on the stand for her lawyer, Mrs Owens. She swore on the bible like Tori had to do before then they started.
"Miss West, was it true you were on pain killers during the birth of Alex?" Mrs Owens asked.
"Yes, it is" She replied simply.
"Why was this?" Mrs Owens questioned. Jade felt the urge to shout then, wasn't it fucking obvious why she was on fucking pain-killers? She was in labour, and Alex was a particular difficult birth but she looked towards Jennifer and Tori who were motioning for her to take a few deep breaths. It wouldn't have normally worked but today was different.
"The labor pains were really painful and she was breech for a short period of time until she finally decided to move, I nearly had a C-Section… I would have preferred that actually" Jade explained. Mrs Owens nodded.
"Thank you miss West, now who had access to your baby on the first day of her birth?" Mrs Owens asked, this being her final question for Jade.
"Me, her father Thomas… and the nurses" Jade explained, Mrs Owens nodded.
"Thank you, Miss West that is all!" Mrs Owens, dismissed her. The judge then announced a short break.
"Well that was intense!" Tori sighed, Jade, Tori and Beck had all gathered outside to get some air. Beck's wife had offered to take Alex, Jennifer and Patrick to school and she was going to come back later after her scan. Jade sighed.
"Yeah, I'm a bit concerned as to what question's the'll ask next. I had to hold back in there I felt as if my head was going to explode! Can you believe that she actually asked why I was on painkillers?! And she's our lawyer, I think it's safe to say we are officially screwed!" Jade complained, Beck and Tori nodded.
"I have an idea" Tori said, all of a sudden perking up with enthusiasm she didn't know she could possess at this point.
"What?" Beck asked, still amazed by the perkiness that Tori could have even in the toughest situations.
"I'm going to call Carly Shay and ask if her brother can represent us!" She announced, clapping her hands.
"Uh... Tori I thought he only did three days of law school? Besides even if he could I think it's a bit short notice!" Beck reasoned, Tori deflated.
"How about you Beck?" Jade suggested, suddenly as enthusiastic as Tori had been moments before. Beck laughed a little.
"Jade, I haven't even been to law school!" Beck reminded her.
"I know but you know our case as well as anyone could, you have our best interests at heart and you did do that movie where you played a lawyer!" Jade pointed out. Tori couldn't help laughing at that.
"That's like saying Joey Tribbiani could actually be a doctor!" Tori said, in between fits of uncontrollable laughter. Jade rolled her eyes.
"I know, but Becks gotta be better than that women we have!" Jade complained.
"Sorry, Jade but I think you're stuck with her! Come on, we've gotta head back in now" He said, as they followed him inside the building.
The trial had officially started and Mr Chadwick was standing before the judge;
"Your honor, I would like to call Ryan Adams to the stand!" Mr Chadwick announced, causing a loud gasping sound from Tori, Jade and beck. Ryan, looked almost the same as when Tori had last seen him. He was tall, fair and had the same brown eyes as before. Except now he was older and hadn't shaved in what seemed like ages, maybe he was going through a stage. He'd always hated hair on his face, she remembered.
"Now Mr Adams, I understand you dated Miss Vega for quite a long time then ended things six months into her pregnancy and didn't want anything to do with your child, is this correct?" Mr Chadwick asked, Ryan nodded.
"Yes, I dated Tori for two years" Ryan admitted, "And six months into her pregnancy, that was not planned! I ended things, I was not ready to be a father" He explained.
"Right, Mr Adams... I think that's all I need from you" Mr Chadwick said, Mrs Owens then stood up.
"I have a few questions, your honor!" She said, The judge nodded.
"Proceed" He said
"Mr Adams, I understand that Miss Trina Vega called you on the night of the birth. Is this correct?" Mrs Owens asked.
"That is correct" Ryan, stated. Mrs Owens nodded.
"What was the phone call about?" Mrs Owens asked.
"She wanted me to step up and be a man, and see my child" He explained.
"And did you, see your child?" Mrs Owens asked. Ryan paused then, he'd already made himself look bad and he didn't think he could lie either.
"Well... to some extent. I didn't want to see Tori because I knew it'd get her hopes up, but I wanted to see the baby just this one time to see if you know... she looked like me, if she felt like she was my daughter!" He explained.
"Answer the question, Mr Adams!" Mrs Owen, demanded.
"Yes, I went to the hospital to see her. I went to the baby room and asked a nurse if I could hold the baby but she said that because I couldn't confirm I was the baby's father... as she was aware there wasn't one, I'd have to wait for Tori's approval... and again, I really didn't want to see her so I bribed the nurse 50 dollars... she refused so I offered her 300 dollars and she accepted" Ryan explained, the whole jury gasped at this.
"Mr Adams, do you remember the name of this nurse?" Mrs Owens asked, Ryan nodded.
"Yeah, her name was Cassie... I don't know her last name though" He said.
"That will be all Mr Adams!" Mrs Owens said. Tori and Jade were shocked, and thought they'd chosen the right lawyer after all.
