Title: A Christmas to Remember
Disclaimer: I do not own InuYasha and Co.
Summary: "Tell me Higurashi, did you and the mythological Lord have tea together?" Her teacher asked sarcastically. "No professor, The Lord of the Western lands and I never had tea together, although we did spend Christmas together." was her simple reply. S/K

A/N: Just briefly going through the rest of the chapters. Figured since I've gotten this far—may as well go over all the chapters.

Anyone looking outside could see that a massive snowstorm was currently in effect. Even while inside, in the warmth, simply looking outside made Kagome shiver. She watched the trees sway back and forth from the strong winds while snow continued violently falling on the ground. Smiling slightly, she closed her eyes and sighed. As she opened her eyes, she realized she had fogged up the window. Letting out a tiny giggle, she drew a heart with 'R' and a 'K' on opposite sides. Slowly her smile turned into a frown and she added an 'S' in the middle of the heart.

Memories of long ago began to play themselves in her mind.

"DECK THE HALLS WITH BOUGHS OF HOLLY…" Rin ran around the castle half screaming and singing the lyrics for all to hear. Kagome did not need to turn her head to know that Jaken was currently covering his ears while complaining about the child.

"Rin, perhaps a bit quieter?"

"But…you said there was excitement during Christmas…" The little girl responded.

"Excitement does not have to always be loud…it can be expressed many ways other ways. Like decorating the tree—" Before Kagome could even finish her sentence, Rins eyes lit up. Nodding enthusiastically, the little girl dashed off. Kagome was still not completely familiar with the castle, but she was slowly learning. When she caught up with the Rin, she gasped. There in front of her and Sesshoumarus ward stood the largest Christmas tree she had ever seen.

"Rin…" She began to speak in awe but Rin interrupted her in excitement.

"You said your family decorates trees for this holiday? Lord Sesshoumrau said I could request anything for this 'Christmas' that you talk about. I asked for pretty things like berries, and leaves and anything that could be found. Will this work?" The little girl asked while eagerly waited for praise.

Kagome could not believe her eyes. She had no idea how long she would be here while waiting on Inu Yasha to get the jewel back, but for once, he was not what was on her mind. Rin, Sesshoumaru, Shippo, Sango, and Miroku were. Giving Rin a goofy smile, she grabbed her hand in excitement and dashed towards the decoration.

That had felt like it was forever ago. Siting up from her bed, she stood up and instantly regretted it. Pain radiated through her body but Kagome continued to walk to the bathroom that was a few feet from her bed. Entering the room, she stared at her reflection in confusion and disappointment. Never had she felt more human. There were cuts all over her face as well as a swollen lip. As she looked closer, she realized that a bruise on her left eye seemed to be forming as well.

She was lucky—lucky to only have cuts, bruises and possibly a fracture or two. Splashing water on her face, she tried to remember the past few hours. She felt that everything that occurred after the accident was all a dream—but she prayed that it wasn't'. Again, memories began to surface from the Feudal era.

Rin laughed at the large fogged up mirror right next to the Christmas tree. Without thinking about it, Kagome traced a large heart and wrote 'R' and 'K' on opposite sides.

"What's that?" the little girl asked curiously.

"It's a heart. 'R' stands for Rin, and 'K' stands for Kagome." Kagome explained with a smile.

"What about Lord Sesshoumaru?" Rin asked with disappointment and confusion.

"We can't forget him! Silly me." Kagome corrected the situation by adding a big 'S' within the heart.

"There…Perfect!" Rin clapped her hands in happiness.

Kagome sat back down on her bed while trying to rattle her brain and remember what all had happened today. She wondered mildly if she might have a concussion. Even after some rest, things were still fuzzy. She remembered Yukiko and Yukio rescuing her from the car crash, and she most definitely remember the 'phone call' but it was after all those events that things became fuzzy. Straining her brain, she tried to remember more.

She had been put into the hospital and had passed out shortly after being given an IV. She knew they examined her, and probably did whatever medical necessities were required. Suddenly, she remembered a man had woken her up.

Kagome's eyes widened—Sesshoumaru.

At first, he was not how she remembered him—but instead he had had short blonde like hair and looked so much like a business man that she would have never guessed who he was. At her confusion, he had somehow revealed himself to her. Just like that, Sesshoumaru, in all his glory was conversing with her on the hospital bed.

Part of the conversation was fuzzy but then there was Shinji…and then Koga? Kagome shook her head. Did she imagine it? Had it truly happened? Perhaps she had hallucinated the entire thing after the car crash. Shaking her head in frustration, she tried to remember more details. She could have sworn she remembered telling them about time travel and her well. Then all she remembered was black. Were they able to derive a conclusion with how she was here—after five hundred years? Would they explain to her why she was abandoned the moment everyone got what they wanted?

"Inu Yasha."

His name escaped her lips before she could stop them. He had done something. He had made a wish that made everyone think she was dead. Laying her head on the pillow, she released a frustrated sigh. Hadn't she told everyone she was going home and no one stopped her? So why would everyone have assumed she was dead?

"Make your wish." She muttered under her breath while handing over the purified jewel.

"Bring her back…everyone back." He whispered quietly. Letting out a huff of disgust at his first request, Kagome swallowed hard and shook her head. Why had she thought he would do anything different? Kagome did not bother to look at anyone but instead just looked at the ground in annoyance.

"I'm going home." She announced loudly. Grabbing her bag, she began to make her way to the well. There was no reason for her to stay here. After taking a few steps, she glanced behind here. There they all stood—staring at the jewel as a white light slowly engulfed the area. Nothing. There was nothing—no reactions—no arguments—nothing. No one stopped her. It was almost as if they were all frozen in place.

The further she got, the more frustrated and sad she became. Her walking turning into jogging which then turned into full-blown running. Tears streamed down her face. The journey was done and everyone had someone that they wanted to come back—so much so that they no longer cared about her. She couldn't truly be upset at everyone. During her time in the Feudal Era so many lives were taken—it made sense that everyone was apprehensive about the powers of the jewel.

Who would be revived?

Would she be missed?

Before she knew it, she was at the well. Looking around, she sighed. This was for the best. Everyone had someone that they cared for, and now they had the chance to have a normal life because of the jewel.

She was the outsider—she was the one that needed to go back to her original home.

Wiping tears away, she took one last glance at the forest that now felt like home.

'Sesshoumaru…' She thought as she looked up at the sky.

Would he at least remember her? Would he remember her fears? Laughing at her naive self, Kagome took a deep breath and then jumped down the well without a second thought.

Kagome could feel herself slipping into sleep as she reminisced about the past. Looking outside, she let out snort. The blizzard occurring now was not much different from the one that occurred over five hundred years ago. She wondering what all had changed during that time. While it was only a few years for herself, had it not been several hundred for them?

With that thought, Kagome began to doze off.

Had she stayed awake a few more minutes, she would have heard footsteps into her hospital room. Had she been awake, she would have seen two figures approaching her room. However, she was deep in her sleep when the door to her hospital room opened and two men walked in.

"It's really her…" The male with short black hair and piercing blue eyes said in awe. Grabbing his cell phone out of his jean pockets, he fumbled through his contacts.

"We need to notify the council. What do we do in this situation? Where has she been? How did we miss this? How did we miss her?" He asked the other figured dazed and perplexed. Running his hands through his short hair, he let out a sigh while approaching the bed.

"Kagome…how did we miss you? How long have you been alone? You deserved so much more." With frustration in his voice, he sat on the bed and examined the fragility of the woman.

"I reached out to council and demanded explanations. The only explanation they have is when he made the wish everyone was affected but her. While the jewel was reversing Naraku's deaths, she was free to go home—to her time." The blonde-haired man stated matter-of-factly. The other man continued to gaze at the woman while seemingly ignoring his words.

"I'll take care of her—when she wakes up, she can..." He announced but the blonde haired man did not like him finish his sentence.

"She is pack, Koga. Our pack—not only yours." He stated in an icy tone.

"You're going to take care of her? Really?" Koga replied disbelievingly and annoyance in his voice.

"Sesshoumaru—since when did you give a damn—" Again, he was not allowed to finish his sentence. Instead of words, he was interrupted with a low growl.

"Go home, wolf. You are not of use to her here. Answer any other questions the council may have now. Tomorrow we shall see if she is healthy enough to speak again."

"Fucking dogs. What is it about both of you?" Koga mumbled under his breath angrily.

"You know she's mine…right?" He added harshly to Sesshoumaru as he walked out the room. Koga smirked as he heard a low growl from Sesshoumaru but he didn't give a shit.

What was it about the damn mutts thinking Kagome was their play toy? She wasn't. She was his. His to treasure. His to love. His to take care of. He would show her. He would make her understand when she woke up.

Koga was so caught up in his thoughts that he didn't sense the change in Sesshoumaru's aura. Had he, he would have noticed that for a split second, familiarity and optimism seemed to radiate from the Lord of the West. In fact, had Koga stayed in the room just a few minutes more, he would have noticed Sesshoumaru's reaction to the discovery of a fogged up window.
