Title: A Christmas to Remember
Disclaimer: I do not own InuYasha and Co.
Summary: "Tell me Higurashi, did you and the mythological Lord have tea together?" Her teacher asked sarcastically. "No professor, The Lord of the Western lands and I never had tea together, although we did spend Christmas together." was her simple reply. S/K
A/N: Okay, so I totally wasn't planning on updating this story twice in one day-but oh well. Like I said before, I'll be out of town for the weekend and will not be able to update. There for, you get overcompensation for the days that I will be unable to write. Since, I have already given an updated today, this chapter will be a bit short.
He had heard her screeching before she even entered the study, but had been pleasantly surprised at the restraint she had initially showed. Apparently, she had finally given in to her frustrations. Sesshoumaru quickly thought back to when the wolf had informed them that the council would be meeting them in two days' time. He smirked at the memory of the wolf then taking his exit—with his tail between his legs. The Lord of the Western Lands was not ashamed to say that he was pleased with the outcome of the day. He was even pleasantly surprised when the Miko had not attempted to rip his head off due to the lack of information in regards to the 'pack' matter.
She had done well when he was present. She had chosen him as alpha, and she had informed the wolf while continuing to stand her ground. But then, she had apologized. He released a low growl at the memory. Why had she felt the need to do such a thing? Clearly, she had picked the superior alpha—and that was not a matter that required an apology. Still, the Daiyoukai knew her anger and frustrations would come.
And so it did.
The miko stormed into his study like a hurricane. Her emotions howling like that of a violent wind. Most youkai would have run at her angry release of energy—but he knew she was unaware of its occurrence. Her hair violently tossed back and forth as she all but stomped through the halls with one destination in mind. She was coming for him, and he couldn't help but feel his excitement grow.
The door of his study burst open, and there the angry Miko stood in all her glory.
"Sesshoumaru."
Had he not known any better, he would have thought that the Miko was a youkai—for he had never heard humans growl in such a manner. While her temper rivaled the fury of his—it was a storm that he could easily endure.
Oh, and he would.
In fact, he couldn't wait.
"You made me look like an idiot. What the hell do I know about packs?"
Her holy powers flared at him, and for once, he tried to contain his excitement. When she didn't receive the response she had hoped for, she attempted to once more overwhelm him with her anger. Finally, he knew it was time. Sesshoumaru released his in retaliation. Oh, how he had waited so patiently to teach her such a lesson. After all, hadn't he had dreams hundreds of years ago about such an event? Her reaction to his display of power did not disappoint.
Her knees buckled, and her eyes widened as his Youki threw itself at her miko powers. It was not gentle, and it did not hesitate in the least. The miko clutched her head instantly, and let out an automatic whimper. He knew her body was screaming for oxygen, just as he knew that her head felt as if it was about to explode—after all, she was not his alpha. She had no right to demand. Falling to her knees, darkness had been ready to envelop her, until she was suddenly able to breath. Opening her mouth in shock, she gasped for much needed air.
Standing up from his chair, he slowly began to stalk his prey in excitement.
"You wish to know more of Youkai customs, little miko?" He all but purred with delight. Towering over her, he knelt down beside her. She had accepted him as alpha, and she was going to learn what it entailed.
"You have chosen me as your alpha—not the other way around." His tone was simple, but she could barely hear him due to the pounding in her ears.
"I can let you run to him, little miko. Go to the wolf and live your mediocre life? Or you could become something you never had the chance to become before—a warrior. Your choice."
She growled at him in frustration.
He growled back in warning.
They sat there for what seemed like hours as he waited for her hurricane of an aura to calm itself. Finally, it began to settle. Her miko powers that had just recently battled against his Youkai was now that of a calm sea. Purring, he smirked.
He knew that she had not expected gentle. Yet, never once did her scent consist of even an ounce of fear. Even as she was unsuccessfully attempting to fight off his youki, it smelled of determination. If nothing else, she was stubborn. He had counted on that. He had reveled in her lack of giving up. She knew without a doubt that he would never harm her—but she also knew that he would not be gentle. Oddly, this pleased him.
"Stand, Miko." Giving her a hand, he snorted at her confusion. Clearly, she had not realized the power she had exhausted from her stubbornness. That realization quickly dawned on her as she stubbornly attempted to stand on her own. Accepting defeat, she grabbed the Inu's hand and huffed. Leading her out of his study, he walked by her side as they headed to her chambers.
"What if I make my own pack?" She all but grumbled under her breath like a upset child. Refraining from rolling his eyes, he held in his amusement.
"Do not make empty threats; it is unbecoming of a warrior." He gave her a smirk and she responded with a huff. As they slowly approached her chambers, the miko once more spoke up.
"That wasn't fair and you know it."
He knew what it was that she was referencing to, and for a split second, he debated on ignoring such a statement. When he said nothing, she continued.
"His feelings were hurt."
This time, he did not keep quiet.
"I gave you an opportunity that most are not given." This time, she did not need clarification. He knew she was aware that a choice had been given. She could have chosen the wolf as her alpha—but she didn't. He had seen her hesitation when the offer was given, and yet she had still chosen him.
His beast had purred at the wolf being rejected—something that the miko did not need to know.
"You are entering our world once again, little miko—my job is to ensure your survival." He was not surprised when she looked up in confusion. Stopping at her door, he glanced at her. "You begged to be back in our world and it was granted."
As he watched her make her way into her room, he answered her question with a question of his own. "Tell me, Miko. How well do you remember the dangers of such an environment?" The shock and realization in her eyes told him all he needed to know. She was quickly understanding why it was that he would not be gentle in her training.
A/N: Yay? Nay? Ahhhh, Youkai customs 101! He had to establish his role at some point. Besides, can you imagine her going to meet all of the strongest and oldest Youkai with no knowledge of tradition/customs? Luckily, Sesshoumaru has one more day before the initial meeting! ;)
P.S: Remember, I am always on the lookout for a Beta. English is & was not my first language, and it constantly makes me over-analyze the possibility that I could be giving readers a story with a dull vocabulary and horrid grammar. Take it easy on any critiques that you may send my way. Not saying don't send any-but just be kind about how to fix any issues you may find. :)
