Title: A Christmas to Remember
Disclaimer: I do not own InuYasha and Co.
Summary: "Tell me Higurashi, did you and the mythological Lord have tea together?" Her teacher asked sarcastically. "No professor, The Lord of the Western lands and I never had tea together, although we did spend Christmas together." was her simple reply. S/K

A/N: This chapter took nearly a week, for that, I apologize. Starting new stories, and living my chaotic life has left me with little free time. That being said, i'm trying to update all stories equally.

Well I heard there was a secret chord, that David played and it pleased the Lord

Kagome turned to where the music was coming from. Something about it was stirring emotions within her. Her chest tightened and she could have sworn her heart was going to jump out of her chest. Landing on the singer, she stared in wonder at the Kitsune before.

Red hair. Green eyes. Three tails.

Her eyes softened at the similarities. In an attempt that she knew was far too desperate, she threw out her reiki in hopes of the identity.

Yet it wasn't him.

Her heart all but shattered at that thought. Trying to tune out the song, and the singer, she redirected her gaze to the ballroom before her. Shinji, and Sesshoumaru had walked with her to the council meeting. She had expected a dull, almost boring meeting with a small room. Yet, it had been the complete opposite. The ballroom had been nothing short of stunning. Christmas decoration was placed everywhere, and within seconds, she realized that instead of a meeting, it seemed as if she would be attending a Christmas party instead. Youkai of all breeds, sizes and colors were conversing and dancing. The Miko couldn't help but smile at the beauty of it all.

Still, the youki and aura of all of the individuals made her a bit dizzy.

Everyone here was so powerful. So old. Yet, appeared so young.

After multiple introductions, Sesshoumaru had guided her to a seat. She briefly wondered if he understood the reasoning behind her dizziness. Contemplating on the situation, she realized that the same could probably be said for the surrounding youkai. With that thought, she attempted to lower her reiki almost to the point of it being dormant. She had clearly succeeded, because within minutes no one had paid much attention. Turning her head to the Inu that all but confused her, she gave him a smile of appreciation.

"Where did Shinji go?"

The Daiyoukai seemed oblivious to her question, or perhaps choose to simply ignore it. Giving him a glare, Kagome Higurashi huffed in annoyance.

"Sesshou—"

"He is interacting with the other lords."

Oh. But weren't they both daiyoukai? Didn't that mean that their responsibilities were similar? Eagerly, she was about to ask but was interrupted once more.

"I refuse to mingle."

Not able to stop her laugh, she attempted to imagine him doing just that. When he narrowed his eyes at her amusement, she tried to cease her giggles. She failed miserably at such a task. Almost instantly, she heard a warning growl and before she could apologize, he nipped her neck in retaliation. Eyes wide, she stared at the Daiyouaki accusingly. He nipped her!

"I recommend that you do not laugh at your alpha."

With those words, the Daiyoukai went back to examining the scene before him. Following his gaze, her eyes landed at the sight that fascinated the Daiyoukai. It was the kitsune from before. But why?

"I thought it was him for a moment…" She admitted embarrassingly, and had all but expected an annoyed look from the Inu. Instead, she received an odd look from him.

"Do not be embarrassed at such a thing. It is an easy mistake to make. Watch." The seriousness of his tone did nothing but confuse her. Yet, she listened to her alpha and watched the male kitsune sing.

Your faith was strong but you needed proof
You saw her bathing on the roof
Her beauty and the moonlight overthrew you
She tied you to her kitchen chair
She broke your throne and she cut your hair
And from your lips she drew the Hallelujah

Almost as if sensing her gaze, the kitsune looked up at her with a look of knowing. Holding in a gasp, she felt her body react as it had done when she first noticed him. What was going on? Suddenly, a new voice was heard but this time, it was a female kitsune. The female entered the stage and smiled at the male. Upon further examination, Kagome was almost sure they were sibling. Both had the same coloring, and close in age. They appeared to be what a human teenager would look like.

Baby I've been here before
I've seen this room and I've walked this floor
I used to live alone before I knew you
And I've seen your flag on the marble arch
And love is not a victory march
It's a cold and it's a broken Hallelujah

The moment the last verse was sang by the female, Kagome saw another body enter the stage. A much older fox. One that was all too familiar. The colors, the eyes, and his movements were well known to her. As he placed a kiss on both of the kitsunes cheek, he redirected his gaze to her. Almost instantly, every single emotion hit her. Recognition. Love. Familiarity. As her gaze identified the kitsune before her, tears began to flow uncontrollably. Sobbing and whimpering all at once, she tried to reel in the emotions radiating off her. Unable to help herself, she released her reiki once more but this time with more confidence.

And it was met with an all too familiar one.

Foxfire. Love. Mischievousness. His innocence. Her son.

Laughing in happiness at the scene before her, she wiped away the tears frantically. He was here, and other than growing up in appearance—he was still the same. Overwhelmed at the millions of thoughts and feelings that were upon her, she was surprised when she heard Sesshoumaru speak.

"Go, miko. Your kit is waiting."

And with those words, she threw herself out of her chair and ran. Ran as she had never before. When she landed in his chest, she sobbed in a manner that told her kit all that he needed to. As he wrapped his arms around her, her reiki was thrown out in warning to all those around her.

Hers.

While it did not injure any of the youki in the room, it placed an all too serious warning. One that left even the most powerful Daiyoukais with a shiver of fear. This was her son. Her kit. He was hers, and no one was allowed to hurt him.

"Shippo—" She had managed to get his name out in between sobs, but she was unable to complete her sentence. Her kit merely stroked her hair in understanding, and placed a kiss on the top of her head. Still, he waited for her to calm down while reassuring her with actions of comfort. When her tears had ceased, the all too grown up kitsune watched her with eyes of happiness and love. Then, he handed her something.

"You forgot something, mama."

And placed in her hand was the Shikon Jewel.

Kagome stared at it in confusion. Why was it here? Why was there still an inkling of power? Hadn't the wish been granted? Shouldn't it have disappeared? What was it doing here? As if understanding her confusion, Shippo spoke once again.

"It seems as if most of the wish was granted—but it wasn't allowed to grant everyone's."

The way he had stated it made her frustrated beyond belief. Was he implying that it wasn't able to reward her for the events in the Feudal Era? Hadn't the wish had to be selfless? If so, that didn't explain why it was here. Ignoring it, she turned to the most important person before her—her son.

"Shippo, you silly boy—I don't need a wish. I just want to have my son by my side. I just want you."

She had meant for the words to explain to him how much she loved him. How much she cared for him. That he was her family. Her son. That had been her intentions. Yet, once again, things had not gone as Kagome Higurashi had expected. Instead, the Jewel of Four Souls began to surround the entire ballroom in a hue of pink.

One that the Miko remembered all too well.
