A/N: First off, can I say how awesome everyone had been? I know i've been gone a while and even still, all my stories are still receiving so much great feedback. You all are nothing such are amazing. That said, I do plan on updating all my stories waaaaay more frequently. As many of you have seen, (and commented) all of the stories have at least gotten one chapter updated. I am working on trying to push out updated on all of them again and usually in the same day.
Request: Like always, if anyone had feedback, requests or suggestions on how the story is going or where you think it should go, please let me know. (Preferably not in a rude way.) I love hearing back from readers on suggestions or questions and I tend to get all the questions answered in a pretty quick time frame. So, just know, feedback is always more than welcomed and extremely appreciated.
One second they had been simple baubles, but the next they were something different entirely.
The aftermath of the event had consisted of stillness, shock and complete and utter disbelief. The last thing Kagome had expected was this, but she should have known. After all, hadn't Midoriko stated that they were going to give her something far more powerful than the ability for her to become youkai? She had briefly wondering what such a statement would entail.
Now, she knew.
The moment Mirodiko had disappeared, the baubles had begun to glow, and with it, the youkai in the room backed away in apprehension. To be fair, the hue that once again took the room was entangles with a mixture of auras. That alone, should have been her first warning as to what was coming.
She had expected anything.
Weapons.
Powers.
Knowledge.
Hell, even books.
But instead of items to help her prepare for battle, there before her stood twelves individuals. As all of their eyes opened, shock came off in waves—not only from the newfound individuals but from the audience that had backed away in fear. Squinting her eyes, she tried to hone in on the individuals in middle of the room that were in a mix of individuals she did not know, but what stared back at her left her in disbelief.
There, in all their glory stood her friends.
Ones that had died of old age, but were now back as if nothing had changed.
As if time hadn't taken away such things.
"Sango…Miroku." The sob that escaped her was quickly replaced with a gasp as tears fell like waterfalls. Not caring about composure, she ran towards them with happiness that she did not know existed. Happiness that she was not sure she deserved.
"Kagome!" Sango's voice was so familiar but so foreign. How long had it been since she had heard it? But it didn't matter. Within seconds the room was humming in disbelief and excitement. The entire room of youkai seemed to make their way to different ends of the room, all with different destinations in mind.
Hugging her best friends, she gazed around the room.
"How…?" She managed to choke out, and was rewarded with an explanation from Sango.
"The gods asked for assistance, and we obliged—Besides, you didn't think you were going to battle without us, did you?" The woman that was all like a sister to her had smiled at her in knowing and amusement while Kagome wiped away her tears.
"But, who all—" Kagome tried to glance around the room to see who all had been brought back, but the commotion in the room had made it difficult. It seemed that there were youkai surrounding individuals in all different directions. Gasps, tears, and happiness radiated throughout the corner of the room.
Who else had been brought back?
"Lady Kagome, I do not believe you understand at what has occurred—there were many that were ready to fight with you." Miroku stated in explanation while smiling at his companion.
"Many whom you do not even know—yet." His words left her in confusion.
The gods had allowed twelve individuals to be brought back? Ones that she did not know? But if the hum and excitement from the room was any indicator, it was not individuals that were unknown by the community In fact, other than Sango and Miroku, she had not seen any other familiar faces.
"Was there anyone else? That we knew?" She asked her companions in urgency while scanning the room. Had she missed someone? Her heart ached in desire. If Sango and Miroku had been able to be brought back, didn't that mean it was possible for others?
A smooth voice behind her seemed to answer her questions.
"Miko, turn around." Sesshoumaru stood in all his glory behind her, and stepping out of the way, he answered the question that she not even dared herself to ask out loud.
There, before her, smiling her signature grin while holding the hands of an Inu Youkai that resembled Sesshoumaru more than she could image, was a soul that she had prayed to all the gods that she would get to see again.
There before her, stood Rin.
Unable to control what little self-control she had left, Kagome Higurashi threw herself at the little girl that she had seen as a daughter and cried.
Cried in relief.
Cried in happiness.
And most importantly, she thanked the gods.
A/N: Short chapter, I know buuuuuuut usually with short chapters it means i'm setting things up for the next ones. That said, anyone want to take any guesses on who all had been brought back? Did anyone notice who arrived with Rin? ;)
