Broly pushed against the bars trying his hardest to get to the small child in front of him. His Ki sense abilities were rudimentary at best. He could barely sense anyone's power around him unless he was in his Legendary Super Saiyan form. Even then he was sometimes overwhelmed by his power that he couldn't properly focus on anything. However, his nemesis of old's energy he would recognize anywhere. His son felt similar to him when he fought him on that doomed planet and was able to recognize him seven years later.

"WHY ARE YOU HERE?! DID HE SEND YOU?! I'LL MAKE HIM PAY FOR TORMENTING ME AGAIN! ISN'T BEING LOCKED UP DOWN HERE ENOUGH?! I'LL KILL Y-"

He was cut off mid rant as his chains started to glow a sickening red. He knew exactly what was coming as he ceased his rant.

"No...No please! Not again! I'll be quiet, I won't make a fuss! DON'T DO IT AGAIN!" He shouted down at the chains.

His cries fell on deaf ears. His mind was taken out of his cell. He saw himself surrounded by flames. He was the only one left. The monster and his master were before him. He was on his knees. The entire city was gone. It looked like a nuke had went off which the lone survivor wished had happened instead. Least he would have been dead along with the masses or died of radiation poisoning. The monster had destabilized the planet to the point where it was unrecognizable But, the monster's master had other plans.

"Your people could have saved themselves so much pain if they had just submitted to our rule. The might of the Saiyan race cannot be stopped! We are the masters of the Universe! With Frieza's empire gone we shall take his place! You shall be the first example. You either bow to us or you suffer. You shall be doomed to die on this dying planet. Alone and starved of all resources. Enjoy your precious few days before the planet flies out of its orbit. I'll make sure my son destroys your neighboring planet. Have fun going through rapid climate shifts and gravity changes before you die." The man said before leaving with his massive green haired monster.

The man cried out in desperation as he begged them to just kill him then go through the torment of the next few days. His pleas were ignored as he was left to rot with the planet. The first six hours were fine as the man walked on and on looking for shelter. He took refuge in a cave for the night dreading of what he'd wake up to tomorrow.

He was awaken by a large boom. He walked out to the edge of the cave and saw massive objects hurtling toward the ground. If he had to guess they were bits of the neighboring planet that the monster had threatened to blow up.

One massive chunk of rock hit the horizon. He knew that looking at the explosion would destroy his sight. But, it didn't matter he knew that somewhere out in the Universe some deity gave into his pleas and would grant him a quick death.

His eyes felt like they were on fire and his vision became blurry. He could just make out a massive cloud coming at him. He steadied himself. He would not die fleeing into the cave for safety despite his instincts were telling him to do so.

The cloud got closer and closer. He took one last deep breath knowing this was it. The dust cloud was seconds away from hitting him. Despite the massive amount of pain he would feel for a perhaps a minute it would be better than dying of starvation or freezing with the planet knocked out of its axis and drifting off into space.

The cloud hit him and the force of the blast sent him flying to the cave. He was conscious for only a few seconds when his head hit the bottom part of a rock jutting out from the ceiling. His head separated from his body. The force of the shock wave was too much and his body slammed itself to the back of the cave as a mangled and bloody mess. While his head just fell to the floor. His last thoughts were of relief at finally dying and hoping that someone out there would stop the mad pair that killed his people and destroyed his planet.

Broly awoke to find himself curled into a tight ball and seemed to be clutching his head. He felt the traumatic pain the stranger went through. His body felt like a mangled mess and his neck felt like it was on fire from the phantom pain of being separated from his body. He was crying again as the pain seemed to overload his senses. He had been good for so long! He hadn't relapsed in months and this little girl caused him to suffer through one of the most jarring visions yet! He hated himself for appearing weak in front of her!

The chain began to heat up again warning him that another vision would happen if he didn't regain control of his thoughts. So he did his best to calm himself and focus on not crying in front of the child.

Pan was confused as to what was going on. One minute the Saiyan was trying to reach her and screaming at her way to fast for her to understand. The next minute he was pleading with the chains that held him in place to not do something again. All she gathered was he was angry she was related to someone called a carrot.

Her great-grandfather came around the corner and grabbed her pulling her back. The Saiyan in chains began hollering in pain. He clutched his head and was begging an unseen force to kill him than let him die slowly on his planet.

"Pan I told you to not go far at your own peril! You should consider yourself lucky those chains keep him in place! Otherwise he'd crush your skull like a fruit!" Bardock shouted at her.

Pan fought him for a moment as she was caught off-guard by his arm hoisting her up and tried to take her around the corner.

"Wait, he's in pain and those chains are glowing red! I think they're burning him! I don't think chains are supposed to do that!" She cried out to him.

"Are you nuts?! Those chains are enchanted to do so and they're the only thing keeping that psychotic monster in check! He'd be rampaging across Hell beating us all to Death. And since we're dead we'd just keep coming back to the same torment! I don't think even Frieza and his family are powerful enough to stop Broly!" He said before putting her down roughly.

"Why is he the only one really locked up in chains? What could he have done that's well...different from the rest of you?" She asked him.

"My son is only being punished for who he is. The one Saiyan that stood above the rest! Stuck in Hell for being the Legend of our people! A poor reward for being born the way he was!" Paragus' voice said behind them.

Bardock turned around and walked back to Paragus in annoyance. "Are you kidding me?! Half the reason he's stuck down here is because you trapped him in his mind! Your controlling device broke what little sanity he had left! I may be a bad father, but you certainly make me look like father of the year! You even ignored him when he finally realized he was in the cell next to you. You turned your back on him when he kept asking you why you sought to control him! I may treat Raditz like crap, but I never thought to remove his free will and make him my slave!" Bardock said.

"I had to do that! He's the reason I lot my eye! Which as you've seen was never given back to me when I was sent down here! He was going to kill me. If I didn't try to control him he would have killed me then would have killed himself by blowing up the planet he was on and dying from his own attack or suffocating in space!" Paragus shot back.

"Better to die trying to save your child than control him like a dog. I at least learned that before I died, you selfish prick!" Bardock said slamming his fist on Paragus' cell.

The two began bickering again when Pan turned back to Broly. She noticed that he was sobbing quietly and she heard him constantly muttering "I'm sorry. I'm sorry," to himself.

She tentatively walked up to him again. He didn't notice and began rocking himself slowly back and forth in an effort to calm himself down.

"Do...Do you need help?" Pan asked the tall Saiyan slowly.

The older man didn't catch what she said. For a few minutes he kept rocking himself. Finally he stopped and he seemed to calm down. Broly took a few deep breaths to calm himself down. He slowly unwrapped himself from the ball he put himself in. He took in his surroundings and saw that the child was still before her. She didn't flee from him in fear like the countless other children or beg for her life. Despite the other man pulling her away she came back to him. This confused him as no one had ever willingly approached him before.

His mouth was dry from crying so hard. He took a moment to lick his lips and regain his voice. "Why...why are you here? Why didn't you leave? Like the others...?" Broly asked her confused.

Pan looked down at the floor. "Well you look like you're in a lot of pain and...I don't like to see people hurt. I know you may be down here for a reason. But, if my great-grandfather and great-uncle didn't kill me. Then I guess everyone has the potential to change. I don't know what it was that led you down your path of life. But, I think if you had someone to talk to or listen to what's on your mind it would help you. Maybe...maybe having a friend would help you learn to change and you'd be allowed to leave your cell," She told him.

She looked up and the tall Saiyan's eyes were wide. He looked to be in shock at her statement. For a long while they didn't say anything as Broly seemed caught off guard by her words.

She finally turned to leave as she felt he did not want her presence anymore. Pan was three steps away from going around the corner. "Wait...you...you want to be...my friend?" Broly's voice said in a whisper.

She turned and saw Broly looking at her with desperation. He didn't look like the tall broken Saiyan in chains. For a moment he looked like a lost child reaching out for someone, anyone to help him. His entire life had been one disastrous event after another that he barely had control over. A King that feared his strength sought to kill him in his infancy, his power that made him stronger than most and kindled a desire to destroy everything around him for no reason, his father betraying him and locking his mind in a dark corner for over a decade, and finally the unfettered hate against a man that wasn't even the cause of his problems.

Pan slowly smiled. "Sure, my dad became friends with a angry green man that tried to kill my grandfather. I don't want to be breaking tradition of becoming friends with someone that tried to kill my family," She said chuckling.

The sarcasm was lost on Broly as he had no idea who the green man she was talking about. From what he gathered the green one was someone else had also tried to kill Kakarot, but more importantly she wanted to try and be his friend.

Broly took a moment to take her words in. He pulled himself up to sit in a more comfortable position. Pan noticed that the chains began to glow silver and Broly seemed to hum with it as if it soothed him. "Can...can you tell me a bit about yourself?" He quietly asked her.

Pan smiled at him. "Sure I'll tell you about my mom and dad!" She told him. She then hopped down two feet away from the cell bars and began informing Broly of her life.

Broly listened intently doing his best to keep track of what she told him. From what he gathered she was the daughter of Gohan, the one he fought back on New Planet Vegeta, and a woman named Videl Satan. He would ask her a question or two relating mostly to the non-Saiyan side of the family as thinking about Kakarot and his son made him irritated and he had no desire to relapse into another haunting vision. One thing he noticed was the more he listened, the more his mind became clear over time.

Behind them one figure stood in utter shock. Bardock couldn't believe his eyes. His great-granddaughter had calmed down Broly! The same one that usually went nuts when he saw him on guard duty! How could she possibly keep the Saiyan that everyone had dreamed of being for millennia calm? The very same Saiyan that nearly went on a killing spree to destroy the South Galaxy?

"I don't believe it...she calmed down Broly to the point where he's having a conversation with someone! How did she do that?!" Bardock questioned out loud.

Even Paragus was in shock. Not even he, Broly's own father had been able to sit him down and talk to him before he put the mind control device on him. Broly had always been fidgety as a child. Not keeping still for very long unless it was to sleep. Paragus could count on one hand the conversations he had with his son that didn't devolve into Broly leaving halfway through to go blow something up to satiate his unhealthy desire to see things explode.

For a long while both watched as the young child kept telling her life story. Broly learned how she liked vanilla ice cream the best, that she loved flying high in the clouds with the birds, or that she enjoyed meditating with her green Uncle that Broly had a suspicious feeling it was the same green man he fought years ago.

None of the four noticed someone entering the cave. Bardock felt a hand on his back and he spun around to punch whoever was behind him.

His hand was caught by a hand and he saw his son's irritated expression staring at him.

"Geez what is your problem? Why are you not at the mouth of the cave keeping a watch on the skies? I know you would be berating me if I wasn't at my post," Raditz said.

"Quiet you idiot! The girl has Broly quiet for once! Don't ruin this as I may not have this golden silence for a long time!" Paragus whispered harshly.

"Don't bad mouth me you traitorous filth! Unless you want to lose your other eye!" Raditz threatened him while walking around Bardock looking to see what he was talking about.

In front of his was Pan sitting very close to Broly talking about the time her uncle Goten accidentally tripped over her a dog named Bee and landed face first in the cake he and his brother spent all night making for their mother on her birthday. Her grandmother had laughed at poor Goten when he peeled his face off the cake and had it dripping all over his clothes.

"Okay I think I finally lost it. Is Broly actually sitting there quietly listening to someone talk? I thought he just sat in the back of his cell like a brain dead zombie?" He asked Bardock.

"Normally yes, but Pan was somehow able to get him to relax. They've been talking for...actually I lost track of time. What are you doing here? My shift isn't over" He asked Raditz.

"It is now, I was told by Nappa to come get you. King Vegeta is gathering the Saiyan leaders for a meeting. You're going to present your case to them. You replacement is already outside doing your job may I add," He told Bardock.

The older Saiyan grunted and slowly walked up behind Pan not to surprise Broly and set him off, since he looks so much like his son, Broly would either go comatose at seeing Bardock or mutter his son's name over and over again in frustration till the chains began to glow red and stop him.

He cleared his throat. "I'm sorry Pan, but we need to leave. I need you to be there when I present our case to the Saiyan monarchs."

Both Broly and Pan looked at him. While Pan nodded and stood up, Broly's face fell that she had to leave.

"I'm sorry I have to leave you here Broly. But, I have to go now. I need to convince the Saiyans to fight against the Demon King and help my father and grandfather," She told him.

Broly nodded slowly. "I understand," He said as his heart fell. He was getting used to her just sitting there and wanting to spend some time with him. She was going to leave him like everyone else, to rot in a cell for eternity and have no one be there to listen to him.

Pan noticed that Broly looked sad and thought for a moment. She started to untie the belt she had on and looked him in the eye. "Hold out your elbow Broly."

Broly cocked his head to the side in confusion. Why did she want his elbow? His arms and legs were wrapped in chains. Why did she want his elbow? Was this a trick or something?

He slowly shuffled himself around in his cell kneeling toward her. He stuck out his elbow so it would just fit through the bar. Pan began wrapping her blue belt around his elbow and slid it up his around so it was right underneath his shackles.

"Here I want you to have it as something to remember me by. I don't know if I'm coming back...not because I don't want to. But, because I'm going to fight a bunch of demons soon and I don't know if I'm going to live through it. Most of them are way stronger than me, but I'd rather go down fighting than doing nothing to save my home. If I do live through this I'll see if I can come see you. If I can't...well it may be a long time before I die so I want you to hang on to this for me till I come back, okay? Think of it as a present and a promise," Pan said smiling.

Broly looked at it truly touched. No one had ever given him a gift before. Not even his father when he did what he wanted. He was just given food and a place to sleep when his body needed rest. He felt unfamiliar emotions that confused him. But, if he were to be honest...he liked it. He looked up at Pan and slowly smiled back at her.

"Thank you..." He whispered to her before leaning back in his cell. His chains glowed a different color unnoticed to him. They began glowing a whitish gold and they felt lighter than ever before.

She nodded to him and walked away waving. "Goodbye Broly, I hope you get out of here one day. When you've finally paid for your sins, I'll be the first one here waiting for you. Provided I'm already dead when they free you," She said laughing.

She turned around the corner and quickly departed with the other two dead Saiyans. For the first time in Broly's life he genuinely smiled and felt happy. No longer did he feel alone and he felt like he found something unique. Something different with his life. Something that neither his father nor his blood lust could ever take away from him. The chains glow dimmed while Broly didn't even notice. For the first time in his life he finally had a friend.
