I don't own anything but Chelsea and her mother.

Chapter Two: New Life

"We have now landed in Seattle, Washington, thank you for flying American Air Lines-" I ignored the rest of the announcement as I followed my mom off the plane. Thankfully, I had a dreamless nap the second half of the plane, I didn't want to wake up screaming from my constant nightmares.

"Isn't this exciting, Chelsea?" I heard my mom ask and I looked over at her with a light smile, I couldn't help but smile at her constant positive attitude. No matter what happens, she seems to always have a smile on her face. "A fresh new place for a new start." She continued as she looked around at the airport. "Oh, baby, you are going to love Forks." She winked over at me as we near the luggage claim.

"I hope so, mom." I said as I grabbed the few bags that weren't on the moving truck.

"This is exactly what we need. Some place to forget the past. I know there's nothing more that you want right now." My mom ran her hand through my hair, calming my slight anxiety. I smiled over at her before nodding in agreement. "Great, now let's head to our new home."

We didn't have to buy the new home that my mom mentioned. My grandparents had put the house that they used to live in before they both passed in my mom's name. We had never told my father because we knew that he would want to sell it. And thank God that we didn't, it would of been a wedge in our plan if we had to buy another house.

I looked down at my phone to see Bella's name with a text saying: See you at school Monday. I smiled as I remember us exchanging numbers before we landed in Forks. I texted back a smiley face before slipping my phone back into my jeans pocket.

"Are we ready to go, baby?" I looked over at my mom as she slipped her bags into a taxi cab. I nodded my head at her question before following in her foot steps by putting my bags in the back. The cab owner held the door open for my mom and me before closing it behind us. The only problem with the whole divorce, my dad had won the car and the house since they were both under his name.

My mom had to buy another car, but we weren't able to get it until we actually got to the new house. I had enough money saved up so that when we finally settled in, I would be able to buy myself a car. But for now, me and my mom will have to share the small Ford Taurus.

I watched as the trees went by and I smiled against my own will. I finally felt a little bit of freedom in 5 whole years. I just hoped that this feeling will last.

"Here we are, home, sweet home." My mom sighed as she looked at the small one story building. I could tell that it was perfect of us from just the outside. It was simple and small, nothing too special, but I could tell this place could quickly become my new home.

My mom and the taxi driver got all the suitcases out of the trunk as I kept looking at the small house. The gray paint mixed with the white shutters made this place feel like a homey house. The brick stairs leading up to the front door called my name as the taxi driver drove off.

"Well, what do you think?" I heard my mom ask as she smiled over at me. I smiled as I looked back at her.

"I can't wait to see the rest of the house." I grabbed some of the bags that were laying down near my feet as my mom cheered.

"That's the spirit!" She lead the way up the steps before grabbing keys out of her purse. She opened the door as I didn't waste a minute to look around where my mom grew up. The living room was the first thing that you saw when you walked in the door, the next was the kitchen that was connected to the living room. It was only separated by the island that was in the middle.

Like i said, simple, but perfect for me and my mom.

"Your room is the one at the end of the hall, next to the bathroom." My mom explained as we started walking down our new hallway. "My room is the door on your right, the first one in the hallway. I figured I would take Grandma and Grandpa's room since it has the master bath connected to it."

"That's fine." I nodded my head in agreement with her. She smiled before opening the door to my new room. Not too much changed from my other room back in Massachusetts, only because we had everything sent down here when we decided to move. So all my clothes, my drawers, and my bed were still the same, I just had to reorganize everything, and paint the light purple walls to tan and black. I always had one black wall back home and it was perfect to hang pictures up on.

"I'll let you get settled," My mom said as she dropped my luggage onto the ground by my bed. "I'm going to get the rest of our things into the house. How's going out tonight for dinner sound?"

"Sounds great, mom." I gave her a soft smile.

She smiled back at me before leaving me alone in my new room, closing the door behind her. I sighed as I looked around the four walls. I really needed to paint as soon as possible.

I grabbed the closest luggage that was next to my feet as I jumped onto my bed. I opened it up to see some shoes that I had packed, most of them were my favor heels or sneakers- the other shoes that I owed went into the moving truck.

I grabbed a pair of shoes before deciding to unpack and get most of it out of the way.

My mom knocked on the door about an hour and a half later on, "I found this really good restaurant that we could go to tonight. It has really good reviews, and it's right in the middle of town, so maybe we can look around a little bit and get to know where everything is."

I looked over at the time to see that it was only 4:18 p.m. It felt a lot later already- definitely the jet lag.

"Sure, mom. Let me just finish up here and I'll meet you in the living room." She nodded in agreement before leaving me to finish folding some clothes and shoving them in my dresser drawers.

Once I was satisfied about where I was with my unpacking, I got up from the floor and walked into the living room, "Ready, mom?" I asked grabbing the keys off the table next to our couch.

"All set." She smiled before leading the way outside. I followed her wordlessly as I closed and locked the door behind me. "Do you want to drive?" She asked as she pointed to our new 2006 Ford Taurus. I smiled as I nodded my head before racing over to the driver's side and hoping in.

"Which way?" I asked as I turned on the car.

"I don't know." My mom laughed as she buckled up, "I guess we'll find out."

The good thing about small towns, is that you can't get too lost without finding someone to help you out. Thankfully, we were able to find a couple nice people that happily lead us in the right direction- the total opposite direction that my mom had me going in, might I add. Around 4:45, we finally reached the bar and grill.

It was small, like the rest of the town, but it was buzzing with people. People that were at the bar, watching the game. Families that were eating together on a busy Friday night, and couples that were just enjoying each other's company. It was a homey experience.

As I was looking around the small restaurant, I came to look at a familiar brunette with an unknown male figure. I smiled as I recognized Bella and what I'm assuming is her dad. I walked over to her table as she looked up at me with surprise, "Hey, Chelsea, what are you doing here?"

"I just came to eat here with my mom- it was her idea. She wanted to get to know the town a little better." I said pointing over my shoulder at my mom, who just reached my side curious to who I was talking to since I was so new to the town. "Mom, this is Bella from the plane, the one that I was telling you about?"

My mom nodded her head in acknowledgment, "I remember, so nice to meet you, Bella. Please call me Liz."

Bella nodded her head before pointing to the person that was awkwardly watching our exchange, "This is my dad, Charlie. I was telling you about him right, Chelsea?"

"Oh, yeah. You're the chief of police around here, right?" I asked looking down at Bella's dad, Charlie. His mustache twitched with wonder as he looked over at his daughter.

"Yes, I am." Charlie nodded his head looking over at me.

"We'll leave you two alone, I just wanted to come over to say hi to Bella." I turned walk away but Bella's voice made me stop.

"Why don't you two join us, right dad?" Bella asked looking over at her dad.

"Oh, no we couldn't impose." My mom shook her head at Bella's request.

Charlie looked up at my mother for a while before he shook his head, "I insist. We were just about to order anyways."

"Are you sure? We don't mind-"

"Just sit, Chelsea." Bella laughed over at me before pulling a chair out for me to join their table.

I shared a glance with my mom before shrugging my shoulders and sitting down at the table. I heard her sigh quietly before sitting down next to me and across from Charlie.

"What's good to eat here, anyways?" My mom asked looking down at the small menu.

"The steak is pretty good." I heard Charlie mention.

"Steak sounds good to me." My mom answered placing the menu back onto the table. "I could go for some hearty meat after that long plane ride."

I could of heard wrong, but it sounded like Charlie said something like, "My kind of woman" under his breath. I shared a look with Bella before chuckling softly. She just shook her head along with me.

"Well, that was fun." I said as I passed my mom the keys to the car. She nodded her head agreeing with me. "Obviously, you and Charlie had fun." I gave my mom a laugh as she looked over at me confused.

"What do you mean?" She asked unlocking the car before getting into the driver's side.

I rolled my eyes as I followed her into the car, "Oh, come on. A blind man could see that you two were flirting with each other all night. It was actually a little disgusting."

"We weren't flirting." My mom laughed but I could see a slight blush tinted on her cheeks as she tried to keep her eyes set forward onto the road.

"Okay, mom. Whatever you say."

"Shush, you."

We got home around 7:24 and I was more than ready to head off to bed. I gave my mom a kiss on the head before dragging my feet into my room to get ready for bed. I couldn't be more tired than I am in this moment. Today was so draining, from the long flight to getting home and unpacking, to having a long dinner with Bella and her dad. I slipped off my outfit for the day before throwing it in the corner of my room- I'll get it tomorrow.

I looked over as my phone vibrated on my bedside table. I slipped on some pajama shorts before grabbing the small device and looking at the text message from 4 people.

Three of them were friends that I had back at home wondering how my first day at Forks went, I replied a small good before looking at the last one. I gave a laugh as I looked at Bella's message: I've never seen my dad actually try to flirt with someone- talk about awkward.

I replied: You have no idea. My mom went as far as to deny that she had any part in the whole thing that was going on at our table- lol.

I plugged my phone into it's charger as I slipped on a big shirt that had PINK labeled on the back. I crawled into bed as I received another text message from Bella: I'm not even going to bring it up to my dad. That was too awkward to even witness let alone try to have a conversation with him, no thanks.

I laughed and shook my head, turning off my phone before slipping into my converters. I sighed as my head hit my soft pillows before falling into a deep sleep.

That is before another nightmare woke me up.
