Bee waited anxiously on the sand for Magnia. He had chosen a not-so-public beach for them to meet, which he had hoped might spark the mood. But as the minutes passed, his spark began to sink and he sighed and flopped on the sand; she wasn't coming.

Why would she agree to come and then just not show up? he wondered glumly, tracing one digit in the sand. Maybe she only agreed to get me off her back.

Then he sat up and frowned. Against the lulling crash of the foamy waves, he had thought he heard a noise. He listened carefully.

"Bee!" an angelic voice shouted, louder this time and he turned to see Magnia a little ways down the beach. His faceplates broke into a happy grin, and he had to refrain from doing one of those touchy scenes in movies where the lovers run into each other's arms. He was pretty sure Magnia wouldn't do it.

"Primus, are you deaf?" she huffed once she got nearer. "I swear I was calling you for like five minutes." Bee wasn't really listening; he was too busy staring at her, noticing how beautiful she looked in the moonlight.

"Hello?" she yelled, waving a servo in front of his face. "Cybertron to Bumblebee!"

He blinked and buzzed, "Sorry…zoned out."

Magnia grinned, noticing his blush; he must have been thinking about her again. "Care to tell me why I'm here?" she sighed.

"Walk…with me," he offered his servo and she hesitantly accepted. When they had walked a little Bee said, "Before…we get to…the part …you won't….like…tell me…about…dream."

Magnia shook her helm, "I don't want to."

"Why…not? Make you…feel better."

"No it won't," she sighed, then mused. "Maybe I could use it to prove a point to you though."

"What…point?"

She refused to look him in the optic, "The one where we can never be together, no matter what you say."

"...Ah," Bee said quietly. "That…point."

"I know that's why you brought me here, to try and convince me."

"Actually…try to convince…to talk to…Optimus," Bee cringed. "So he'll…see you're…not so bad…won't hate me…forever. Also 'cuz…I missed you."

He smiled at her when he said that, and she could tell he was trying not to blush and look away. Her spark leapt at his words, but she tried to ignore it.

She breathed deeply, "Well, anyways I'll tell you about the dream. I would rather not be looking at you when I tell it though; I might start…". She trailed off and blushed.

Bee nodded understandingly, "Sit…back to back."

So they sat back to back and Magnia exhaled nervously, "Ok. So, um, in the dream me and you, you and I-" she sighed. "We had a, um, sparkling."

Bee was silent for a moment and Magnia wished she could see his faceplates so she could tell what he was thinking. After a pause he said, "What were…they like?"

Mangia decided to skip the conversation with the sparkling, "It was a femme, and she looked a little like you, but she had purple optics like mine." She smiled a little, "You here having fun playing with her, tickling her, making her laugh."

Bee chuckled a little, "Sounds…nice. What was…bad part?"

"Megatron," Magnia whispered. "He came and he…killed her. And then," she had to stop and wipe her optics, "then while you were crying over her body, he killed you too." Magnia choked, "I couldn't do anything; I had to watch, helpless while you both offlined." She buried her faceplates in her servos and felt Bee's arms wrap comfortingly around her waist from behind.

"Shhh..." he whispered. "Just a…dream."

She sighed and leaned into his chassis, "But is could so easily become reality, Bee. That's why we can't bond, because I can't lose you."

"But…Megatron…can…offline me…anytime," Bee argued.

"Yes, but it would hurt so much more if we were bonded," Magnia sighed. "And I don't want to have a sparkling to lose as well."

Bee felt a little hurt, even though her reasoning made sense, but he remained silent. Instead, he pulled her closer to him and listened to her spark beat so close to his own.

Magnia smiled a little, hearing Bee's spark going haywire being so close to her, but she quickly grew upset again. What was she doing to poor Bumblebee? It wasn't fair to him; he couldn't shut off his emotions as well as she could. She had had years of practice; Decepticons weren't supposed to show any emotion at all.

"I should go," Magnia said softly.

"No…stay," Bee murmured, drawing her closer again. "I've…missed you…Mags."

Magnia smiled sadly, "I have missed you too, Bumble."

She stood up, untangling herself from his arms. "I have to go," she said again. She tried to walk quickly away, without looking at him, but while looking at the ground she found where he had been tracing in the sand. She bit her lip; he had unconsciously written her name.

Magnia looked back and saw him standing there, shoulders slumped. Those big blue optics were so full of sadness; she couldn't just leave him there like that.

"Dammit," she cursed and walked back.

Bee looked confused, but kinda happy, "What are you…doing?"

"You and you're damn puppy optics," she fumed and drew him forcefully to her in a passionate kiss.

When they finally broke apart, Bee breathed, "This is…so unfair."

Their forehelms were touching as she sighed, "I know. Maybe someday when the war's over..."

"You know… it'll never…be over," he said softly. "And we're…running out…of time."

"I know," she said. "Close your optics or I'll be a victim of the puppy optics again."

Bee chuckled and did as she asked. He heard the roar of her engine taking off, and when he opened his optics again, he was alone on the beach.

He sighed unhappily, and began walking home. Suddenly he felt a servo on his shoulder, and he spun around wildly.

"Would you relax?" Ratchet rolled his optics. "It's only me."

"...You-" Bee sputtered "You were…spying…on me?!"

"I think you mean to say 'on us'," Ratchet grinned.

"Not…cool," Bee fumed.

"So?" Ratchet said eagerly and then rolled his optics again when Bee gave him a blank look. "What did she say, moron? Are you two going to bond?"

"Um..." Bee said hesitantly. "Not…telling." He was pretty sure if Ratchet found out she had said no, he would tell Optimus.

"Not telling?!" Ratchet said furiously. "Are you kidding? I am your physician, and I have the right to know what your current medical status is! Are you going to offline or not?"

Bee saw Ratchet's servo creeping towards his favorite wrench and he flinched. "Fine…" he mumbled unhappily. "She said…no."

"Ah," Ratchet said, satisfied. "Well I am sorry to hear that, Bumblebee. However, the time has come to tell Optimus."

"No!..." Bee cried. "Please…don't!"

"I'm sorry Bumblebee, but I must tell him, to give him time to prepare for your death," Ratchet said grimly. "And he was bound to notice sooner or later anyways; your systems have been failing a lot more often."

Bee begged and pleaded with him the entire way back to the new base, but nothing could change that stubborn mech's processor.

It was the early hours of the morning when they finally arrived; the ground bridge was temporarily down due to a small scraplet infestation. Optimus was already awake and sorting through reports when Ratchet approached with Bumblebee tagging worriedly behind.

"Please…Ratchet….don't do this!" Bee begged one last time.

"I'm sorry Bumblebee," Ratchet said firmly and turned to Optimus, who was looking between the two with a confused expression.

"And what is it you are going to do Ratchet?" Optimus asked, and Bee groaned and buried his faceplates in his servos.

"This," Ratchet took a deep breath. "Bumblebee has been diagnosed with the rare and almost incurable Sparkmate's Disease. He will offline in about four months unless he bonds with his sparkmate, Magnia. I have waited to tell you this until now, at Bumblebee's request that he have more time to attempt to convince her to bond with him. However, it has been eight months and she has refused, so now I am telling you so that you may prepare yourself for his death."

Ratchet exhaled and Bumblebee cringed in his servos, as Optimus stood there seemingly unable to move.
