"What are you thinking?"

Jasper's been in a deep thought for the past ten minutes, and it was amusing to say the least. His brows creased slightly in the middle of his forehead, and his lips twitched every few seconds.

"I was concentrating on your hand movements." I paused looking down at Jasper. I was previously running my fingers up and down his arm, to his shoulder, and back down. "It felt nice."

I smiled down at him before continuing. "Glad you like it."

Jasper smirked at me before closing his eyes again, relaxing under my touch.

"Did it hurt?" I asked lightly, tracing a light crescent moon scar on Jasper's upper arm. His skin was completely smooth to the touch, but you could feel the slight elevation to his skin with every scar.

Jasper didn't bother opening his eyes, we both knew what I was asking. "It was excruciating. The burn- it feels like fire is pulsing through each and every vein in your body. I wouldn't wish that pain on anybody." I connected eye contact with Jasper as he finished his sentence. "Why do you ask?"
"Merely curious." I tried giving him an actual smile, but I'm sure that it came out more as a grimace.

"I'm not turning you."

I was surprised by the assumption. I stopped my movements looking down at Jasper, "I didn't ask you to."

Jasper looked up at me with a poker-face, and I wasn't sure what he was thinking. I moved backwards a little once he started to sit up from the ground. "No?"

"No." I shook my head. "I want to be able to live my life. I'm only 18 years old. I don't know what I want yet."

Jasper pursed his lips before smiling at me and relaxing again. I wasn't sure if the conversation was over yet, but I let it drop for now.

"How is your thirst?"

Jasper and I were just starting to hide back towards our transportation when I decided to break the silence. He's been acting so calm this whole time, I almost forgot that he has trouble with blood.

"It's not completely unbearable." Jasper shrugged his shoulders, barely missing a beat in his steps. "I've only breathed a couple times."

How easily I forget that he's a vampire. "Well, I'm still alive." I gave him a gentle smile letting him know I was joking.

"I'm not sure how I'd be able to explain to your mother why you're not home." Jasper said joining in on the joke.

"You could always tell her I fell in the river. I'm sure she'd believe I'd be that clumsy."

"Funny."

A huge tree in the middle of the trail stopped our conversation as Jasper helped me up and over. I expected him to grab my hand and make sure I get up alright, I didn't expect him to actually pick me up and lift me over. Once Jasper put me back onto the ground, I could barely contain the blush from invading my face. "Thanks."

He just nodded his head with his side smirk.

"I'm curious." I said as I side stepped a root protruding out of the ground.

"You always are."

"Funny." I gave him an attractive snort before continuing, "Is it better since you first met me?"

Jasper's smirk fell off his face slightly as he, no doubt, thought about what I was talking about. "Define better."

"Is it easier?"

"It's never easier." Jasper answered honestly. "Your blood; it's strong. I can handle it without wanting to eat you alive, yes. But blood never gets easier for me."

I bit my lip as I nodded my head. "I see."

"Can I show you something?" Jasper smiled down at me gently.

"What is it?"

"Just watch." He smirked before picking me up bridal-style. I slapped my hand over my mouth to try and cover the squeal that escaped. "Hold on tight." I barely had time to register what he meant before we took off into the forest.

It took my eye's a while to try to adjust to what I was seeing, but when I was able to get it under control, I couldn't contain the smile from gracing my face. I never would have thought that vampire speed would be so fascinating, but it's like I could get enough of it. The trees went by in green and brown blurs. I would have thought that we'd at least hit one tree or branch, but the whip of the wood never came.

Before I knew it, we stopped in front of Jasper's car. He gently placed be back on the ground and I smiled up at him. "That was incredible."

Jasper smirked at my giddiness before pushing some fly-away hairs behind my ear. "I knew you'd like it."

I tried stepping around him so I could get into the car, but my legs turned into jelly the moment I tried moving. I grabbed onto the closest thing to try and steady myself, almost not realizing that it was Jasper's arm I was gripping tightly.

"Guess I don't have my land legs yet." I tried joking while trying to get control of my limbs. Jasper gave me a light chuckle before slipping an arm around my waist lightly, barely making contact.

"Come on, let's get you in the car so you can sit down."

I didn't argue with him, knowing that he was right. He opened the car door before helping me sit in the seat gently. I stretched out my legs, letting the blood circulate through my veins. "Maybe I should have given you a warning." Jasper said leaning against the car opening, bending down so we were eye-to-eye.

"I'll be fine in a couple minutes." I waved him off, not letting him worry. "Roller-coasters give me the same reaction."

While I was paying attention to my legs and stretching them out, I didn't register that Jasper was playing with my hair until I looked up at him. I felt the blush slip onto my face as I watched how fascinated he seemed playing with my curls. "You're truly something." He whispered softly making me snort in response. "You don't realize how beautiful you truly are."

"I could say the same to you." I reached up slowly, almost like asking permission, when he didn't move away from my hand, I touched his cheek lightly. I traced his high cheek bones softly, enjoying the way his chilled temperature felt against my warm hand.

"We should get you home." Jasper said in a tight voice. "It's getting dark."

I dropped my hand as I nodded my head. "We didn't get to visit your family." I pointed out as I slipped into the car seat more comfortably.

"Next time." Jasper gave me a soft smile before closing my door for me. I barely needed to wait a millisecond before he was in the seat next to me. "I told them I was taking you to the river, so they probably expected that we'd be a while."

"Tomorrow?"

"We'll see." I knew that was the end of that conversation. And I didn't question him further.
