|Chapter 9: A Dark Past
Dagobah Beach, Two Days After The Festival
Izuku peered over the railing of the patio to the rising sun, watching the light glisten beautifully off the morning tide. He appreciated moments like these, the beauty of the world always astounded him.
"So you just gonna keep looking off at the sunrise or was there a reason for us coming here at five in the morning?" However, he probably should address Akira; he was a little grumpy from being woken up so early.
"What, we can't just relax?" The greenette joked, earning him a tired sigh from his friend. "Alright, it's because I think I got another quirk." He said, waking Akira properly.
"Another one?" Akira asked; Izuku nodded. "What is it?"
"Remember the end of my match with Todoroki after our attacks clashed?" Izuku asked.
Akira shook his head. "No, I do not." He said. "No one can, because the arena was covered with a lot of smoke."
"That was me." Izuku said, confusing his black-haired friend.
"…The smoke?" Akira asked.
The greenette nodded and raised his arm. "Yeah, I thought it was because of Todoroki's fire but…" Small wisps of smoke began to roll off his arms. "I could feel it." He said before waving it off. "I also saw another one of the past users."
"What did this one look like?" The black-haired teen asked.
"The guy looked like a short, black-haired, Best Jeanist." Izuku explained. "Except without Best Jeanist' hair style, it was more… flat."
Akira could actually visualise that perfectly. "Alright." He said. "So a Smokescreen quirk?"
Izuku nodded. "Yeah, seems like it." He turned to the ocean and thrust his right arm forward, sending forth a large amount of smoke that blocked the view. "This one's going to be a hard one to explain."
Akira thought for a bit. "Nah, not really." He said as the smoke cleared. "Just say its excess energy from using a lot of power or something, same as your sparks."
Izuku ran it over in his head for a bit before nodding. "Yeah I guess that could work." He shrugged, everyone seemed to buy all the other excuses. Saying his quirk was an energy stockpiling one left him with a lot of room to work with.
Akira looked at his phone. "Let's get going, I want to breakfast before we go to school." He said, standing up. "Sensei said that he had an important announcement for us today."
Izuku started to fly and picked him up by his arms. "I think it might have to do with the internships that he was talking about before." The greenette said .
"Maybe… If it is, what hero agency do you think you're gonna go to?" Akira asked.
Izuku smiled. "If he sends in an offer, I won't even be considering anyone else." He said vaguely.
"Him being…?" Akira asked, an expectant look on his face.
Izuku didn't say anything and continued to fly back to their homes.
Mustafa Station, Three Hours Later
Izuku and Akira were both walking to Yuuei under their umbrellas; the clear morning sky from earlier had been replaced by clouds and rain.
'I'm so fricken tired.' Akira thought.
Next to him, Izuku had similar sentiments. 'Five in the morning might've been a bit too early.'
Splashing footsteps behind them brought the two out of their thoughts and they turned to see Iida running towards them. "What are you two doing walking so slow?" The blue-haired teen asked. "We risk running late!"
Now, currently, they were both actually on track for being a minute or so early. However, neither Izuku or Akira knew the time and their tired brains put them into panic mode. Quickly, they both shook themselves awake and shot forward with Iida, running through the gates and inside in record time.
"How much time do we have?" Akira asked, hastily shaking his umbrella of the rain.
Iida put away his boots and raincoat at a much slower pace. "Ten minutes until the first bell." He said.
Akira dropped his umbrella and his tense shoulders suddenly relaxed before he turned to Iida with a flat expression. "So… we're early."
Iida shook his head. "No, Yuuei students should always be ten minutes early, so we are on time." He explained, adjusting his glasses.
His panic now over, Akira went back to being tired both physically and with life before walking away. 'Hopefully Ochako's here.'
Izuku watched Akira before turning to Iida with a worried look. "Hey, Iida-"
"If it's about my brother, you needn't say anything." Iida said, cutting off Izuku. "He's fine, really." He walked off to class, Izuku following silently behind.
The attack on Ingenium had been large news for a few days. Sometime during the festival, the engine-hero had been attacked. It wasn't the attack that was big, it was the attacker; The Hero Killer: Stain.
A man who had been travelling through cities all around Japan, leaving heroes he deemed unworthy dead or disabled. He seemed to have a similar effect to All Might by dropping the crime rates of each city he visits.
However, while the two were similar in invoking fear, they struck fear into different sides of the coin. All Might's presence alone was enough to quell the thought of committing a crime in most thugs, while a well-placed punch took care of the more courageous ones. But Stain struck fear through death, leaving bodies as a reminder to the heroes of what will happen if they do not better themselves.
Izuku's emerald eyes scanned Iida's body language and he frowned. While he was never good at reading social cues or reading the room, he was more than capable of discerning someone's emotions from their eyes; and Iida's were filled with vengeful rage.
Class 1A
"So many people talked to me on the way here!" Mina said, swinging her legs as she sat on Izuku's desk. "The Sports Festival basically made us celebrities!" She exclaimed.
Kirishima pointed to himself. "Yeah, a bunch of little kids came up to me and called me manly!" He said with teary eyes. "I've never felt so invigorated!"
"It was so embarrassing!" Hagakure said. "So many people were staring at me!"
Ojiro deadpanned at her. "You can turn invisible though…" His words fell on deaf ears as Hagakure ignored him.
"I had a bunch of elementary kids tell me, 'don't worry about it' on the way here." Sero whined as he let his head fall on to the desk.
Tsu smiled at him. "Don't worry about it." She teased, soliciting another whine from him.
Izuku walked into class and sat down at his desk. "Hey guys, what's up?" He asked.
Mina leaned backwards and looked at his eyes. "We were just talking about all the people talking to us on the way here." She explained. "What about you, how many people talked to you on the way here."
Izuku recomposed himself. "Well… no one actually." He said surprising them. "Akira and I are really good at blending with a crowd."
"How could no one recognise you; you literally won the festival!" Kaminari exclaimed.
Izuku shrugged. "Well I am a little plain looking." He said with an awkward chuckle.
Mina blinked. 'I'm sorry… did he just said he was plain-looking?' She asked at herself, looking at his perfect, adorable face.
Before she could say anything, Jiro spoke up. "Sensei, ten seconds." She said.
The class all shot to their seats and sorted any mess.
Aizawa walked through the door. "Morning." He greeted dryly as he walked to the podium.
"Good morning!" The class said in unison.
The tired hero eyed his class suspiciously before letting it go. "Today, we'll be having a special hero informatics class." He said, causing the class to panic.
'Special? Oh crap that probably means quiz!'
'I'm terrible with the theory and law…'
'I swear if this man keeps saying vague statements…'
Aizawa decided to keep the tension around for a while longer before speaking, knowing it would get his students to be tense. "Code names." He inwardly chuckled at their resigned sighs. "You'll be coming up with your hero names.
The majority of the class shot up out of their seats at the news. "We're doing something exciting!" They exclaimed.
However, Aizawa curbed stomped their energy with his quirk, silencing all of them instantly. "Sit." They sat down. "This is related to the internships I mentioned, those of you who managed to impress the pros at the festival will have gotten offers from a few." He explained.
"What about those that didn't get offers?" Yaoyorozu asked, raising her hand.
Aizawa turned to her. "Offer or not, you all will be doing an internship… somewhere." The man said, pulling out a remote. "Speaking of, here are the offers we were sent." He pressed a button and a list of names appeared on a hologram.
Class A – # of Internship Offers
Shoto Todoroki – 4123
Katsuki Bakugou – 3556
Akira Hikaru – 2481
Tenya Iida - 1080
Fumikage Tokoyami – 980
Denki Kaminari – 272
Momo Yaoyorozu – 108
Eijiro Kirishima – 68
Ochako Uraraka – 20
Hanta Sero – 14
Izuku Midoriya – 1
The class looked at the number of offers with incredibly confused looks. "What the hell, that's way different from the Sports Festival placing." Kirishima said.
Mina nodded. "Yeah, why'd Izuku only get one?" She asked.
Izuku looked a bit disheartened that he only got one offer but looked on the bright side. "One's better than nothing, right?" He asked with an awkward chuckle.
Mina turned to look at him. "But you totally kicked ass out there!" She exclaimed.
"Yeah, you went through half the tournament without using your quirk." Akira said from behind him. "And then you finished it with one of the best fights this school has ever seen and a single punch."
Aizawa looked at Izuku's number of offers with confusion. 'What happened to his offers?' He snapped out of his thoughts when he heard the class get too rowdy. "Alright, that's enough." The man said, silencing them. "Remember, offer or not, you're doing an internship."
"That must be what our hero names are for!" Sato exclaimed in realisation.
Uraraka shook Akira's shoulders. "I'm so excited!" She squealed.
Aizawa gave them a hard glare. "Be careful with the hero name you choose if you're not-"
The door was suddenly kicked in and everyone tensed. "You'll have hell to pay later." A voice from the door said. "Ain't that right, Eraserhead?" It was Midnight, energetic and loud as ever.
"Yeah, that." Aizawa said tiredly, already hating this. Well they're all yours." He quickly summoned his sleeping bag from the cat and coffee gods before retreating to his corner.
"Alright, take these white boards and write your hero name on it!" Midnight said, throwing whiteboards at all the students. "And remember to think about it, this name will be painting a concrete image of you to the public." She explained. "Nature and name do often agree, now start thinking!"
Ten Minutes Later
Midnight looked at the class. "All right, come up and give your names." She said, causing some of the student's eyes to widen.
'Wait, we're presenting these?'
Aoyama, unphased as always – and because of class order –, walked up first. "I will be The Sparkling Hero: Blast. You won't stop me from dazzling Japan." He said in his usual calm tone.
Midnight smiled. "Sounds great!"
Mina bounced up to the podium. "I'm next then!" She exclaimed in a cheery tone. "I'm going to be The Acid Hero: Alien Queen."
"That thing with acidic blood?" Midnight asked in disgust. "Sounds to villainous." The hero would've continued her argument had Izuku not spoken up.
"I think it's a great name; and it fits." The greenette said, getting her attention. "Besides, it's not like all pro-heroes have hero-like names."
Midnight tried to come up with an argument but couldn't. "All right, you can keep it then." She relented.
Mina beamed and skipped back to her seat. "Thanks, Izuku." She said sweetly as she sat down. "You're the best."
Tsu walked up to the podium. "I've had this since before middle school, kero." She croaked. "I'll be The Rainy Season Hero: Froppy."
Midnight beamed. "That'll be popular with the kids!"
Kirishima walked up next and presented his name. "I'm going to be The Sturdy Hero: Red Riot!" He exclaimed.
Midnight grinned. "Is that a homage to The Chivalrous Hero: Crimson Riot?" She asked.
Kirishima nodded. "I know there's gonna be pressure that comes with trying to take up his mantle but I'm ready for it." He said, voice filled with conviction.
"Alright then." Midnight relented. 'Not like I can really say no.'
Jiro quickly walked up to the podium after making fun of Kaminari. "I'll be The Sound Hero: Reverb." She said.
Midnight clapped. "Oh that's wonderful, next."
"The Scouting Hero: Tentacole." Shoji said through one of his arms.
"Combining tentacle and octopus, that's great!" Midnight exclaimed.
"The Tape Hero: Cellophane." Sero said.
Midnight nodded. "Rolls right off the tongue."
"The Martial Arts Hero: Tails." Ojiro presented.
Midnight smiled. "Reflects you perfectly!"
"The Sweets Hero: Sugarman." Sato exclaimed happily.
Midnight licked her lips. "So sweet!"
Kaminari walked up. "The Lightning Hero: Raikiri."
"Ooh, sounds cool!" Midnight exclaimed.
Hagakure appeared in front of the podium. "The Light Hero: Luminous."
"That's great! Who's next?" Midnight asked.
Yaoyorozu walked to the front. "The Creation Hero: Genesis."
"That sounds amazing!" Midnight jumped up and down.
Todoroki went up. "Shoto." He said.
Midnight raised her eyebrow. "Just your first name?" She asked.
The heterochromatic teen shrugged. "Yeah."
Tokoyami was next. "The Night Hero: Tsukuyomi."
"Spooky! I like it!"
Koda timidly walked to the front and held out the white board. 'The Animal Hero: Beast.'
Midnight nodded. "Alright, sounds great!"
Bakugou stomped up. "King Explosion Murder."
Midnight shook her head furiously. "Absolutely not. Change it now."
"WHAT! That's a great name!" Bakugou argued.
"Little green might've been able to persuade me with Alien Queen, but I am under no circumstances allowing you to be presented on television like that." Midnight said. "Change. Now."
"It's a good name though." Bakugou mumbled under his breath as he walked back to his seat.
Uraraka walked up to the podium. "I'll be The Space Hero: Uravity." She said.
Midnight smiled. "Thank you, something nice."
Akira grinned. "Yeah, sounds cute."
Uraraka blushed furiously and rushed to sit down.
Iida walked up and presented his name. 'Tenya.'
"You're using your first name too?" Midnight asked; Iida simply nodded.
Bakugou stormed back up to the podium; this was his back-up name for now. "The Explosion Hero: Ground Zero."
Midnight nodded. "Much better, it even rhymes!" She exclaimed.
Bakugou sighed as he went back to his seat. 'That's why it was my second choice.'
Akria walked up to the stands. "I'm going to be The Combat Healer: Akira." He said.
"You as well?" Midnight asked. "At least you have something before it. Alright, Midoriya, you're last."
Izuku stood in front of the class and looked at his white board. 'Nope, got nothing else.' He nodded and showed it to the class. "I'll be The Ninth Hero: Izuku."
Midnight sighed. "What's with the first names?" She asked. 'These ones are more than likely going to have the most impact on society if what I saw at the festival was any indicator, they need something that isn't their name.'
"Akira and I don't like sticking out to much, it's the same principle for our hero names." Izuku explained; Akira nodded.
Midnight relented. "Alright, good enough." She said. 'For now…'
Izuku sat down, ignoring the confused looks he got. 'The Ninth' was supposed to be a reference to himself being the ninth wielder of One For All, but they didn't need to know that.
Aizawa stood up from his spot on the ground and walked to the podium. "Alright, now that you've all got your hero names, you'll be choosing what agency you want to intern with." The man said holding up a form. "Those of you that didn't get offers will choose from forty agencies on this sheet, choose wisely." He and Midnight began to walk out of the room. "Make your choice by the end of the week."
"We only have two days?!" The class asked in unison. "This isn't a light decision!" However, their cries fell on deaf ears as the heroes had already walked away.
Principal's Office
Aizawa walked through the door of Nezu's office, not bothering to knock.
The chimera looked up from his paperwork and smiled at the hobo-man. "Ah, Aizawa, to what do I owe the pleasure?" He asked.
The tired pro sat down in front of Nezu. "I'd like to talk about Midoriya's offers." He said, instantly spotting the glint in Nezu's eye. "I saw the amount of pros wanting him, we even had agencies from overseas asking for him." His eyes met Nezu and he decided to cut straight to it. "What happened to them, why does he only have one?"
Nezu smiled and took a sip of is tea. "Yes it's true he had a large amount of offers, more than this school has ever seen." Nezu admitted. "However the pro that sent in the only offer he knows about was adamant about having him."
Aizawa looked at him with a raised eyebrow. "And you agreed to this why?" He asked, still not getting the point. "I thought you were supposed to be the smart one."
"I am." Was all Nezu said before he put forward a form. "Here's the offer."
Aizawa sighed and took the form, but his eyes quickly widened when he saw the name. 'Wait, he's asked for another as well.'
Nezu chuckled. "I'm interested to see what this one can do." He explained. "We may just have high achievers once he's done with them."
Class 1A
"Have you guys decided what agency you're going to?" Mina asked, sitting on Izuku's desk again.
Akira and Uraraka nodded in Unison. "We're going to Gunhead's Agency." They said, getting confused looks from the class.
"Gunhead, kero?" Tsu asked. "I thought you were trying to be a rescue type, Uraraka."
The gravity girl hugged Akira from behind. "My fight at the sports festival with Mina reminded me that I need to learn how to fight if I want to be the best rescue hero I can be."
Akira leaned back into her. "Yeah, and I'm going with her to help out." He said. "Also because I've always wanted to learn Gunhead's style."
Izuku nodded. "Yeah, that checks." He said. "You have posters of him and other martial-arts heroes all around your room… fan-boy."
Akira got an embarrassed and appalled look on his face. "At least my room isn't filled to the brim with All Might merch." He shot back.
Izuku didn't have the embarrassed look that Akira expected. "I sold almost all of it and I got a lot of money." He said with a smile. "I've redesigned my room."
Akira sighed and leaned further back into Uraraka. "Whatever…" He grumbled.
Mina leaned back next to Izuku. "Who sent in your offer? You didn't tell us." Mina asked.
Izuku's eyes widened slightly. "Oh, right, I actually haven't checked yet." He laughed as he walked up to the podium to grab his form. Upon seeing his offer, he smiled widely. "Ha! Knew it."
"What is it? What is it?" Mina asked, bouncing on his desk.
"Looks like I'm going to Hawks' Agency." He said, shocking most of the class.
"Woah, the number three hero!" Kaminari said in shock.
Kirishima fell out of his chair. "Seriously?"
Tokoyami stood up. "I also got an offer from Hawks." He said, surprising everyone again. "Do you think it'll be worth it?"
Izuku nodded. "Well, I can't give you the best advice since me working with him really shouldn't have happened." He said with a chuckle. "But he definitely made things simple and quick."
Tokoyami smiled back. "Alright, I'll be joining you then."
The bell rang and everyone began to walk to the cafeteria. On the way there, Izuku and Akira got a message from All Might to meet up with him at his office.
"Huh, where are you guys going?" Mina asked, watching Izuku and Akira walk away.
Izuku just smiled at her. "Sorry, we have to go handle something."
"Yeah, we'll be down there soon." Akira said, giving Uraraka a peck on the forehead.
Uraraka huffed but relented and the two girls walked down to the cafeteria.
None of the class noticed as Iida walked off with his internship form and rage in his eyes.
All Might's Office
"Hello, boys, how are you doing today?" Al Might asked as his students walked in.
Izuku sat down. "We're doing great." He said with a cheery tone.
"I could've gone without being woken up at five in the morning but other than that it's been a good day." Akira said, shrugging.
All Might raised an eyebrow. "What were you doing up at five?" The pro asked.
Izuku chuckled embarrassedly. "That was me, we were talking about a new quirk I got." He said, making All Might's eyes widen.
"Another one?" All Might asked; Izuku nodded. "What is it?"
Izuku raised his arm and smoke began to wisp off it. "From what we were able to discern it's a-"
"Smokescreen." Al Might said, cutting them off. "I'm familiar with that quirk." He revealed, surprising the boys. "That was the quirk of my master's predecessor, she spoke of him highly." The man sighed. "He resisted having it taken from him."
Izuku and Akira raised their eyebrows. "Taken?" They both asked.
All Might grew a serious expression. "Boys, I called you in here to tell you the origin of One For All…" He said. "And that darkness that is its past."
Both boys sat up straight. "Origin?" Akira asked.
"Dark past?" Izuku inquired.
All Might sighed. "Remember what I told you about One For All?" He asked.
Izuku nodded. "A quirk that's been passed down through eight generations."
"Passable only through the will of the holder and the ingestion of DNA." Akira finished.
All Might nodded. "Yes, but what I never told you was that the first user had it given to him by force." He explained.
The two boy's eyes widened. "Forced on to him?" They asked.
"One For All was never a natural quirk." All Might revealed. "It is a combination of two quirks, forged together in the first user's body by a third quirk." He explained. "That third quirk… was All For One."
The two boys were trying to process everything. "All For One?"
All Might sighed. "A quirk of the first generations, it allowed its user to steal quirks from others and make himself the holder; he could also give the powers he stole to others." He explained. "The man with this power used this it to unify a great number of followers. Some of them, however, couldn't handle the quirks he gave them and became living dolls that had no will of their own."
"Just like the Nomu." Akira said.
All Might nodded. "Others' bodies changed the quirks they were given or merged with the quirks that they might've already had. The man had a quirkless younger brother; he forced on him a quirk that could stock power inside him. Except… he wasn't quirkless; he had a useless quirk that allowed him to pass on quirks." Izuku and Akira's eyes widened in realisation. "The quirk to stockpile power, mixed with the quirk to pass on quirks, created One For All."
Akira had a question. "Why are you telling us about a man from the dawn of the dark ages?" He asked. "I get that he's a part of One For All's origin, but there's something else you're not telling us."
All Might stood up and walked to his office's window. "That man stole a mass of aging and regeneration quirks, prolonging his life." Akira sighed and dropped his head; suspicions confirmed. "The younger brother couldn't beat him so he entrusted his quirk to future generations. When it was my turn, I was able to defeat him." His expression saddened again. "Or so I thought; it's clear from the Nomu that I failed to beat him all those years ago."
Izuku had a look of realisation. "It's my job to beat him now."
All Might sighed. "I'm sorry for not telling you of such a burden, I thought I had beaten him, if-"
"We'll do our best!" Izuku and Akira said together.
All Might looked back to his students with surprise. "Wha-?"
"We'll beat him." Izuku said, pumping his fist.
Akira pumped his fist together as well. "We'll finish what you all started."
All Might smiled at them both. "I was afraid that I would've scared you off." He said with a sheepish chuckle. "I'll be with you two throughout your entire journey; because you healed me I'll be able to help more than I could before."
Izuku and Akira smiled back. "Was there anything else you needed to tell us about?" Akira asked.
All Might thought. "Oh, I wanted to know if you two have chosen your internships yet?" He asked.
Both boys nodded. "I'm going to Gunhead's Agency." Akira said.
"I'm going with Hawks." Izuku smiled.
All Might smiled. "Alright then, good to hear." He said before looking at the time. "You two should probably get going if you want to have lunch."
They both looked at the time and picked up their bags. "Bye, All Might!" They said in unison before sprinting off.
All Might chuckled lightly at the two until he grew a confused expression. 'Wait, there was something else I was supposed to tell them.' He thought before letting it go. 'Eh, couldn't be that important.'
At the same time, a certain old-pro in the Yamanashi Prefecture snapped his cane in half. 'My "Toshinori is being dumb" senses are going off.'
Mustafa Station, Next Week
"Please tell me you all have your costumes." Aizawa said to his class tiredly, getting a nod from them. "Remember, no wearing them in public unless you have explicit permission from the lead pro at your internship." He warned.
"Yessir!" Mina said, bouncing excitedly.
"Speak clearly, it's 'yes, sir,' Ashido." Aizawa reprimanded while fixing her with a glare.
"Yes, sir." Mina repeated in a less excited tone.
Aizawa looked to the rest of the class. "I expect all of you to behave yourselves. You're not just impressing pros and getting experience out there; you're representing our school." He explained. "Uphold Yuuei's reputation and show them what you're made of." With that last piece, he walked off.
"Yes, sir!" The class said in unison.
As the class dispersed, Izuku and Akira quickly went to catch Iida as he tried quickly to get to his train. "Iida!" Akira called; his voice was serious, yet soft.
The engine-user turned around to face his class representatives. "You know…" Izuku started. "If there's anything wrong you can tell us." He said. "We're all ears if you need us to be."
Akira nodded. "Yeah, we don't want you doing something you'll regret." He said with a worried tone.
Iida smiled at his two friends. "I'm flattered that you're worried but don't worry." He said, not easing their worries in the slightest. "I'll be fine." His eyes flashed with rage before he walked off again.
Izuku and Akira looked at each other before sighing. "It can't be helped." Akira said as he placed a hand on Izuku's shoulder. "My train's here, see you next week?" He asked, putting out his hand.
Izuku smiled and they did their special handshake. "See you next week." He said.
Akira smiled back and walked with Uraraka to their train station, hand-in-hand.
Mina walked up to Izuku awkwardly. "G-good luck at your internship, Izuku." She said, mentally kicking herself for the stutter. 'What the hell was that?!'
Izuku smiled back at her before being called by Tokoyami. "I'll see you next week, Mina." He said before surprising her and pulling her in for a hug.
Though surprised, Mina didn't object and nuzzled her head into his chest. She had a big smile on her face as they separated. "That's a nice change, you should do it more." She said sweetly, a dark purple on her cheeks.
Izuku smiled back before walking away. "Bye, Mina." After he finished turning around, he let his face turn red. 'What the heck was that? Why'd I hug her? Why'd I enjoy it?' He knew the answer to all those questions but his brain decided to ignore that information for now.
Tokoyami walked with Izuku to their train. "So, what should I expect from Hawks?" He asked, wanting to be as prepared as possible.
Izuku thought for a bit. "Well… at first he seemed pretty laid back, but the moment we heard danger he switched gears and shot forward to the situation immediately." The greenette explained as they sat down. "So… we should probably be quick on our feet."
Tokoyami sighed. "I see…"
Izuku raised his eyebrow at the raven-boy. "Something wrong?" He asked.
Tokoyami shook his head. "Nothing, it's just… I'm not exactly the fastest runner." He sheepishly explained.
Izuku patted his feathered-friend's shoulder. "Don't worry, we can just fly instead."
"I can't fly though." Tokoyami countered, confused.
Izuku just smiled. "I can fix that problem." He said. "You'll be flying confidently by the end of the week.
Before Tokoyami could ask any more questions, their train announced they had arrived. 'That was fast.'
The two grabbed their luggage and walked out. To their surprise, Hawks was already waiting outside the train for them.
"Well, well." Hawks said, smiling. "Long time no see." He looked to Izuku. "Told you you'd make it into Yuuei."
Izuku rubbed the back of his neck. "Yeah." He suddenly smiled brightly. "Thanks for the offer!" The greenette exclaimed. "I promise not to let you down."
Tokoyami nodded. "Yes, I'm honoured to have been considered by one of the top ten." He said, letting his presence be known.
Hawks turned to the raven-boy. "Tokoyami, right?" The teen nodded. "You're gonna have a lot of fun." He said, smiling brightly. "First things first though, due to protocol, we'll have to use each other's hero names when referring to each other." The pro explained. "So, what are they?"
"I am The Night Hero: Tsukuyomi." Tokoyami said.
Hawks nodded. "Alright, I like it." He turned to Izuku. "What about you, greenie?"
Izuku smiled. "The Ninth Hero: Izuku."
Hawks raised an eyebrow. "Isn't that just your first name?" He asked.
The greenette nodded. "Yeah, I don't want to stand out too much."
Hawks smiled. "Alright, with your power though it might be a little difficult." He started to fly. "Let's head over to the agency."
Before he could fly off Izuku coughed loudly. "Tsukuyomi can't fly." The greenette said, pointing to his crow friend.
Hawks thought for a bit before he sent a few feathers to grab their luggage. "You'll carry him for now then." He smiled. "But don't worry, we'll have you flying in no time."
Izuku smiled back before picking up Tokoyami by his arms. "Alright then, let's get going." He said before following Hawks.
