|Chapter 20: A New Start
Dagobah Beach, Days Later
Toshinori Yagi stood on the beach that he and his students cleaned over a year ago, happily staring off at the rising Sun. The sand in his toes and the cool morning air was refreshing for the man. It had been days since losing One For All and everything had finally calmed down.
The incident at Kamino, which the public had named "The Last Act", and his announcement of his retirement was only the first thing they had to deal with. All For One – well, Hisashi Midoriya – was thoroughly questioned on everything he knew about the League of Villains, which was surprisingly not as much as they expected.
However, he did reveal that Tomura Shigaraki was not a part of his family, but the grandson of Toshinori's late master. Tomura Shigaraki… was Tenko Shimura. It was a tearful reveal and Toshinori could only hope that the stars would lead him back to the light.
After that, Hisashi was let go and was given a tearful reunion with his wife, both flooding the area around them with a river of love-filled tears and kisses. It was weird for the former number one to see the real version of his old enemy, but it was ultimately more refreshing to see his successor have his family back together.
Perhaps the biggest change was Yuuei's new policy, the Dorm System. After the amount of villain attacks and encounters the students seemed to be facing, Principal Nezu sought to implement a system that he had been trying to get approved for years. While it at first received some scepticism, the school board and general public saw that it was the best option given the circumstances. Even other hero schools around the country that had similar – but not media shown – encounters with villains saw the potential in the idea and implemented it.
And so, Toshinori and Aizawa had gone house to house for each of their students and convinced their parents to go with them. The Midoriya household had been a difficult one to breach. With Hisashi now back, Inko had no intention of splitting up her family. Had it not been for the white-haired Midoriya convincing his wife that Yuuei would have nothing to worry about since the League wouldn't be making any major moves soon, they may have never gotten their green-haired powerhouse to come back to school.
"All Might!" Speak of the innocent greenette. "I'm here!"
Toshinori turned around and looked at his successor with a smile. "Ah, Young Midoriya." He greeted softly. "I'm glad to see you." This was the last thing he had to atone for, a sin that kept him awake at night. "You must be wondering why I asked only you to come here."
While surprised, Izuku nodded. "Yeah… it did surprise me a bit." He admitted before his eyes widened. "This isn't about my Dad, is it?"
Toshinori laughed and shook his head. "No, Young Midoriya, this is not about your father." He knelt down to meet his successor's eye and put a hand on his shoulder. "I have to… apologise for things I have done." His hand hovered over the scar on Izuku's eye and he sighed.
"Apologise?" The greenette waved his hands in front of him. "No, no, no, there's nothing you have to-"
"There is." Toshinori cut in, silencing Izuku. "Do you remember what I said when we first met?"
Izuku's face morphed into an uncanny replica of Toshinori's before he laughed. "Hahaha! I am here!"
The blonde man tried not to laugh and shook his head. "Not that."
The greenette tilted his head and thought for a moment before shaking. "Then… no, can't think of anything else."
Toshinori sighed before looking down. "Back when we first met… you asked me if a quirkless person could be a hero." His successor's eyes widened and he nodded. "I was wrong to say no back then, when I myself was quirkless." He quickly wiped the tears in his eyes. "And after seeing how strong you've become without using your new gift, I know now that I was wrong."
Izuku felt his own tears pour out of him like a river. "Are you saying…?"
"Yes." Toshinori nodded, raising his eyes to meet Izuku's. "Had you stayed quirkless, you would've made a wonderful hero." He said, making his successor ball out and cry. "Which is why I do not doubt that you will – with One For All's help – become the greatest hero in the world, surpassing even me."
The greenette had almost sunk to his knees but stood strong. "I promise not to let you down, All Might!" He exclaimed, One For All coursing through his veins and activating Smokescreen. "I'll be the hero that saves everyone!" With his final exclamation, the smoke of the sixth user began to spiral around him before five smoke-like forms all put their hands on his shoulders.
However, before Toshinori could comment on them, they disappeared, wisping off with the wind. 'Interesting… but probably not a big deal.' The man mentally shrugged before standing up. "Now, that's not all I wanted to talk to you about." His tone became semi-serious and Izuku stood up straight. "With myself and your father now out of the picture, there is a very big power vacuum on both sides of society." He explained. "There are new heroes who will rise up to take my place, but the same can be said for the villains."
Izuku's eyes dawned with realisation. "Your position as the symbol of peace is what kept Japan's crime rate so low." He thought aloud. "Without you, crime rates will begin to rise and big players are going to try and fill the gap that Dad left."
"Yes." Toshinori nodded. "So that means you and your classmates must train harder than ever, become the new pillars for the world." He gripped Izuku's shoulder tightly. "Most importantly, remember that not one person can hold the weight of the world. Your friends that fight and train with you, they are heroes too, keep those bonds tight and show the world how strong you are together."
Izuku nodded with a straight face – that was absolutely adorable – and smashed his fists together. "Yes, All Might!"
"It's not All Might anymore." Toshinori corrected. "Yagi-sensei or Yagi is now who I will be for the rest of my life."
"Yes, Yagi-Sensei!" Izuku repeated with the exact same straight – and adorable – face. "Anything else?" He asked, knowing he had plenty of time until school would resume for him.
Toshinori thought for a bit before looking out to the ocean. "Hmm…." His eyes had a curious glint and he turned back to Izuku. "Yes, let's see how strong your punches have become." He said, pointing out to the endless sea. "Put as much power as you can into the punch and see what it does."
Izuku looked out to the ocean before shrugging and walking to the shoreline, water splashing his feet. '45%... Gauntlet.' One For All washed through his body and he made sure to reign in his lightning before moving everything into his right arm. "Alright, this is about as much as I can do." He said, already feeling the strain of stocking his power strictly into his arm. "Here we go!" The greenette reeled back his fist before sending it forward. "Riot Fist!"
The effects of the punch could be seen from apartment buildings around the beach or any bypasser. Water splashed high in the air in two separate directions as the wind pressure from his punch split the ocean in front of him. Then, the attack hit the water's surface and a large explosion of water shot so high into the sky it went over a few of the apartment buildings.
Toshinori, however, was unphased and smiled at the attack. "That was great, Young Midoriya!" He exclaimed. "I think me in my prime would've needed at least 65% to do that!" His head nodded up and down before he began to walk off. "Alright, that was all I wanted to see." The man waved a goodbye. "Make sure to have all your belongings that you want to bring ready, it's moving day!"
Izuku turned away from Toshinori and back out to the ocean before smiling. "Yes, sir!" It was looking to be a good day today.
U.A Highschool, Heights Alliance, 1A Dorms
"Alright, I'll be honest." Aizawa started as he looked out at all of his students. "I was not expecting to be able to grab permission from all of your parents. However, I am relieved that you're all back together again."
Sero pumped Kaminari's fist. "Yo, we all get to live together."
"I know, dude." The electric blonde beamed. "I'm glad my parents were chill with it."
"Mine weren't." Hagakure said, pouting. "It took me so much convincing to get them to agree to letting me stay here."
Jirou nodded. "Mood." She replied coolly. "My parents weren't sure on sending me here after what happened after the training camp either."
"Well, you two were one of the most effected by the attack." Ojiro started. "Yaomomo, Bakugou, and Midoriya as well." He pointed to the other three students. "I'll be honest, I wasn't expecting you five to be here."
Tsu croaked. "Kero, it's all really thanks to the teachers that we're here." She said. "They did most of the convincing for us."
"Yeah, yeah, we're all together, yay." Aizawa drawled out before snapping his students to attention with a glare. "That means I get to yell at all of you together." He activated his quirk, increasing his student's terror. "Hikaru. Ashido. Tokoyami. Todoroki. Kirishima. Uraraka. Yaoyorozu." Said students stiffened… literally in Kirishima's case. "You seven decided to try and save Bakugou and Midoriya after their kidnapping." His eyes roamed over the rest of the class as most began visibly sweating. "Based on how the rest of you are acting, you all were at least aware of the former seven's intentions."
Aside from a lucky four students, the class began to mentally scream. 'Oh no, what's he gonna do to us?!'
The winds picked up around Aizawa and everyone became slightly more apprehensive. "I'm going to make this clear, had it not been for All Might's retirement, all of you except Bakugou, Jirou, Hagakure, and Midoriya would all be expelled right now." A few students dropped their heads to the ground. "The seven that went off on their own, and the nine who decided not to stop them, you have all broken the trust that we've built since the start of the year." He deactivated his quirk and his hair drooped while the winds died down. "In short, most of you are walking on thin ice, so be careful with every action you take from now on. Am I understood?"
Everyone nodded and saluted. "Yes, sensei!"
Aizawa nodded. "Alright, now that that's out of the way, I'll also remind you that we'll be focusing solely on getting you all ready for the provisional license exam coming up."
The students gained sparkles in their eyes as they remembered the exam. "The licensing exam!" They chorused together.
"Yes." Aizawa rubbed his ears with cotton buds before throwing them away. "Originally the training camp was supposed to prepare you but… we had complications." He turned his back to the students and began to walk to the dorms. "Now, let's go inside."
Everyone cheered as they followed their teacher. "Yeah!" Their excitement only grew as they saw the interior. "Woah!"
"Welcome to your new home for the foreseeable however-many-years-you-remain-here." Aizawa introduced. "This first floor is the general living space; the kitchen is over there and the baths and laundry are over there." He explained, pointing said locations.
Mina twirled around as she explored the place. "It's so spacious and clean! Ooh, sofa!" She ran towards it and plopped down on it with an 'oof'.
"This place is huge!" Ochako looked like she was going to pass out. 'No more of that stupid, crappy apartment.'
Momo looked around with a nod. "This seems nice."
Aizawa ignored his students and continued explaining. "Your rooms start on the second floor, eight rooms on each floor for three floors." He said before adding. "Girls on the right side, boys on the left side, rooms split evenly between you." His scarf went to the door and he pulled it open before waving goodbye. "Anyway, you've all seen the floor plan and your furniture is in your room." The man walked out of the building. "Have everything set by the end of day and be ready for class tomorrow. That is all, dismissed."
The class nodded and saluted. "Yes, sensei!"
Hours Later, 1A Common Area
"Finally!" Kirishima said as he plopped down on the couch next to Bakugou. "That took way longer than I thought it would!" He laid his head on the explosive blonde's lap before looking at everyone else. "How'd you all get it done so quickly?"
The others shrugged. "Well…." Kaminari started. "You were moving like… a house worth of furniture and belongings into that room."
"I mean… yeah." Kirishima nodded with a sigh.
A pink blur was caught in the corner of all their eyes and Tokoyami and Todoroki just managed to move away from Izuku as it crashed into him. "Izuku!" Mina was looking at him with starry eyes. "You finished your room?"
Izuku smiled down at her and took a small moment to appreciate his new girlfriend. Him calling her that was still a foreign concept, but it brought a smile to his face every time. After the events at Kamino, the two had fully given into their feelings for one another and had a proper date while the world was in chaos. The two realised that they had more or less been acting like a couple for at least a month and decided to keep doing what they were doing; if it ain't broke, don't fix it.
"Yeah, we're all just relaxing." Izuku tilted his head as he caught the glint in the pink girl's eyes. "Unless you wanted to do something with everyone…?"
Mina nodded with a smile. "You know me so well!" She exclaimed before moving away from their embrace and standing up. "Everyone, we will be holding a room contest!" The girl shouted, pumping her fist in the air.
At that moment, Bakugou took a look at his watch before standing up and walking off. "Alright, it's half-past eight." He said, waiting for the elevator. "That means bedtime, goodnight."
Everyone stared at where the blonde was before shrugging. "Everyone – minus Bakugou – we will be holding a room contest!" Mina repeated, getting a whoop from most of the class. "~You're up first, Izu.~" She said in a sing-song voice before dragging him to the elevator, the class following behind.
Izuku's Room
"Well, welcome to my room." Izuku said as he opened his door.
The room was actually pretty well made. His floors had obviously been replaced as the wood changed from oak to spruce after his doors. He had his bed facing the door in the far left corner of the room with two shelves above the head; one holding his sword on display, and the other having three hero figures; All Might, Hawks, and Edgeshot.
On the other side of his room he had an L-shaped desk with a dual-monitor setup and a shelf with a number of notebooks on it. There he also kept a photo of his younger self and parents and a guitar leaning up against the desk. The most interesting feature of his room, however, were the pair of weights next to his bed. Everyone saw the number on those weights, and they felt incredibly humbled.
"Oh, so that's what your sword looks like." Kaminari said as he observed it. "Nice."
Jirou looked at his guitar in surprise before she remembered the start of the year. "Oh yeah… you play guitar."
"Quirk analysis notebooks?" Iida asked as he observed Izuku's books. "What's in these-"
"Nice digs, Izu." Mina interrupted as she span around the place, saving Izuku the embarrassment of explaining his contingencies. "Ooh, bed!" She exclaimed before plopping down on it and spreading herself across it. "I'm totally not getting comfortable because I'm going to sleep here."
Her statement turned Izuku red in the face and he picked her up off his bed before walking out into the hallway. "Next room!" The greenette shouted.
Akira's Room
"You too, Akira?" Ochako asked as they looked at his spruce wood floors.
His room was pretty similar to Izuku's except the walls were a lot more covered with posters of several ninja-themed heroes. He also had a normal desk with a single computer rather instead of a bigger one and held a stack of medical books next to it.
"What the hell!" Jirou exclaimed as she looked at the weights next to his bed. "What are your parents feeding you two that you can lift this much?" While not as much as Izuku, Akira was still running over a quarter ton an arm.
"Is this is a meditation mat?" Ojiro asked as he observed the golden mat in the middle of the room. "It's really high quality."
Akira nodded. "Yeah, my dad made it for my seventh birthday."
Kirishima looked at the sparring bar in his room and walked up to it. "What's this?" He struck one of the sticks and it spun around before hitting him in the face. "Oh, cool."
Everyone laughed and moved on to the next room.
Todoroki's Room
"Woah!" The class exclaimed as they entered Todoroki's room.
"What, did you all change out your floors?" Hagakure asked as she looked at the Japanese-styled interior of the room.
Todoroki nodded. "Midoriya, Hikaru, and Tokoyami helped me, and I helped them." He explained. "As they said, 'teamwork makes the dreamwork.'" His flat tone of deliverance made the quote even funnier.
"I was kind of expecting a half-half room if I'm being completely honest." Sato admitted. "But this is a lot cooler."
Momo nodded. "Indeed, very cool." She smiled at her own joke, but the class didn't seem to get it.
Izuku looked around the room and checked out the board above his friend's desk with a curious eye. "Hold on, is this a theory boar-"
"Alright, that's enough." The heterochromatic teen pushed everyone out and closed the door. "Tokoyami, you're up."
Tokoyami's Room
"Oh, wow." Ojiro said in surprise as he looked around. "I expected it to be dark, but this is a lot more peaceful than I thought it'd be."
Sero looked at the floors and raised an eyebrow. "Is this…?" He tapped his foot on the wood. "Oh, you got dark-oak, nice."
"Sword!" Kaminari instantly gravitated to the katana on display at the head of his bed. "Gasp!"
Jirou looked at him like he was stupid. "Did you just say gasp?"
"He's got two swords!" The electric blonde exclaimed, looking at the double edged blade above on display. "That's so cool!"
Aoyama shrugged. "While I'm not a fan of this dark aesthetic… I love your fairy lights."
Yellows lights hung around the entire room, illuminating it enough to give it a safe atmosphere while still keeping it dark. "Yes, you have seen my chambers." Tokoyami said before he pointed out. "Time to leave."
Mina's Room
"Girl, this place is a vibe." Hagakure said as she took a hat off of Mina's coat hanger. "I love it."
Jirou nodded. "I like the leopard patterns; central theme."
"Huh." Izuku hummed as he looked around the pink girl's room. "This is very you."
Mina fixed him with a raised eyebrow. "What's that supposed to mean?"
"It means…" The greenette took one of her hands in his before grabbing her waist with his other. "It's exotic in the best way possible."
The pink-skinned girl blushed hard and her knees turned to jelly. "I-uh…"
Izuku chuckled and picked the girl up bridal style as her legs failed her. "Payback." He said with a small smile.
Everyone laughed and cooed at the new relationship before following the two to the next room.
Uraraka's Room
Ochako's room was a very middle-class room. Simple bed, desk with a broken wheely chair and small computer, and a small T.V next to it.
The brunette rubbed the back of her neck sheepishly as she showed everyone her room. "Yeah, I know it's not a lot." She looked down in embarrassment. "There's actually more space in here than the apartment I was living in, so…"
Akira walked behind her and wrapped his arms around her waist. "I think it's great." He said into her ear before kissing her cheek. "Nice and homey."
Ochako blushed heavily before turning to mush in her boyfriend's arms. "I also have a ukulele in the corner." She weakly pointed to the small instrument. "Akira's been teaching me to play."
"We should really get a band running." Kaminari said. "I mean, who else plays instruments here?" He smiled widely at the number of hands raised.
Yaoyorozu's Room
Huh… this was a surprise.
"… I was expecting more." Hagakure said as she looked around. "Not that there's anything wrong with this, but with what we saw at your digs, I thought you'd have a queen sized bed in here."
The room was normal aside from the fact that it was much more elegant and regaler in its design when compared to the other rooms. A normal sized bed with columns and drapes in one corner and an advanced desk holding a small library of book on the other.
"That was before I moved everything out and made myself new furniture." Momo said. "Originally my bed barely fit in the room, so I had to call Father to move everything out and make everything from scratch."
Everyone nodded. 'There it is.'
Hallway Outside Tsuyu's Room
"I think Tsu's asleep, guys." Ochako said, standing in front of the frog girl's room. "It's probably best if we just head on up to the next floor."
The others nodded and moved to the elevators.
"Kaminari, don't fry the elevator." Jirou said as she saw the blonde pressing a number of floor buttons.
As they went to the next floor, they missed Tsu peeking out at them and a tear rolling down her face.
Shoji's Room
Shoji's room was, surprisingly enough, extremely empty. Aside from a small bed on the corner and a desk in the middle of the room, he held no other possessions.
"…Did someone rob you?" Kaminari asked, looking at the mostly empty room.
Shoji shook his head. "Call me a minimalist; never really seen the point in having a lot of things." He shrugged. "I know there's not much here so let's just get to Koda's room."
The others nodded and walked off.
Koda's Room
"Bunny!" The girls exclaimed as Koda held up his pet to them.
Koda's room was pretty normal but had a heavy animal aesthetic, obviously trying to make a comfortable environment for his pet. He also had a nice lime-green colour theme and multiple stuffed animals on his bed.
"This place is very peaceful." Tokoyami hummed as he pet the bunny's head. "It's… nice."
Shoji nodded next to him. "Agreed."
Iida's Room
"Yeah." Akira nodded. "I expected no less from you, Iida."
Izuku next to his bed with interest. "Lots of car magazines here, guess that makes sense." His eyes trailed to the wall holding the teen's mini library and gaped. "Oh god."
Ochako looked at the other side of his room and his multiple pairs of glasses. "Why do you have so many?!" She exclaimed. "How much did this cost?"
"That matters not, Uraraka." Iida said, chopping the air. "I hold this many pairs because I expect to break my glasses in every training exercise we have."
Everyone deadpanned at him before walking away. "Next."
Ojiro's Room
"Oh dang!" Kirishima exclaimed as he looked around. "This place is sick!"
Kaminari gaped at the walls of his room. "Dude!" He darted between all of them. "You've got so many weapons!"
The room, while having a normal layout, had a very dojo-like design. Multiple weapons from staffs to shuriken, as well as swords and spears, decorated the back walls on elegant displays. He also held a number of martial arts legends on his desk-side walls, both heroes and masters.
"I was expecting a normal room." Hagakure said, picking up a staff and spinning it around. "I am so glad I was wrong; this place is great!"
Ojiro rubbed his head sheepishly and chuckled. "Yeah… I just like martial arts a lot."
Sato's Room
"Mmmm." Momo hummed in delight as she smelled the air. "What is that delicious aroma?"
Sato pointed to a microwave. "I got cake cooking." He explained. "Thought it'd be a nice moving in treat for all of us." His eyes shifted to inside the large appliance and he hummed. "I reckon it'll be ready by the time we're finished with the comp."
Akira was salivating. "Cake…." His eyes were actually shining golden.
"Yeah, that's enough of that." Izuku grabbed Akira and began to walk outside. "Great room, Sato, can't wait for the cake." He quickly pushed his friend outside the room and tried to stop him from going back in.
Aoyama's Room
"Huh." Mina hummed as she looked around. "I don't know why, but I was expecting an extremely bright and glittery room." She mentally shrugged at her preconception.
Kaminari nodded. "Same." He grabbed a piece of cheese from a platter and hummed in delight as he ate it. "But this French-themed room is definitely a nice alternate."
The room also had spruce floors similar to Izuku and Akira's and he had painted his walls a matte black. His bed and desk were both white and he had a large mirror above his desk. Next to that, a large bookshelf with a number of French literature books rested.
"I am glad you enjoy it so." Aoyama said in his calm tone. "However, I don't want dirt tracking in, so out."
Mina nodded. "Alright, peoples, to the next floor!"
They all shouted with her and ran to the elevators.
Bakugou's Room
Everyone walked past his room, not wanting to be on the receiving end of his wrath.
"Nope."
Kirishima's Room
"Wow, they weren't exaggerating." Hagakure said as she looked around. "You've got a lot in here."
Kirishima nodded proudly. "Yup, this is my man cave!" He struck the punching bag next to him with a happy shout.
"I like it." Akira also gave a strike to the punching bag. "Everything you might need in one room; convenient."
"That's what I was going for." Kirishima said. "I also got this really cool muscle clock that hits you on the head when it's time to wake up!" He pointed to a large digital clock with arms attached to it at the head of his bed.
"Uh…." Everyone didn't know how they felt about that idea and instead decided to walk out.
Kaminari's Room
"Ooooh, dart board." Kirishima said as he looked at the board above the blonde's bed.
Jirou laughed at the blonde's room. "Dude, this place sucks!" She exclaimed.
"Hey, what do you mean?" Kaminari asked, offended. "My room is amazing."
Mina shrugged. "I mean… there's no theme to it."
Hagakure nodded. "Yeah, it's kind of just everywhere."
Kaminari pouted and pointed out to the hallway. "Alright, my room sucks, next."
Sero's Room
"Yo!" Izuku and Akira exclaimed as they looked around the room. "This place looks great!"
Sero smiled. "Thank you."
"This has a really chill kind of vibe." Jirou nodded at the room's design. "I love it."
Momo nodded. "I concur."
Hagakure snored in Sero's hammock. "Ditto."
Jirou's Room
"Yes!" Kaminari exclaimed, looking around the girl's room. "That does it, we're making a band!"
The room was filled with instruments and designed like a music studio. She had guitars, a keyboard, speakers, and drums as well.
Jirou blushed in embarrassment. "I mean, that could be fun."
Kaminari nodded energetically and almost squealed. "What should we call our band? What songs would we sing? Wait, who can sing?"
As he rambled off his ideas, everyone slowly moved on to the next room.
Hagakure's Room
"Aw, this is adorable!" Mina exclaimed as she looked at Hagakure's room.
Ochako nodded next to her. "This is really cute, Toru."
The girls room held a girly design aside from the posters of light heroes and cloud designs around the room.
Hagakure shrugged. "I'm a sucker for sentiment." She said. "I haven't really changed anything since I was eight aside from the size of my bed every few years."
"Well, that's the room comp over." Akira said, walking out. "Now let's go get that cake!" He ran to the elevator with Izuku chasing behind him. "Cake!"
1A Common Area
"I'll be honest." Kaminari said as he ate another piece of cake. "I think Ojiro's room was my favourite." He shoved the rest of the cake down his throat and sighed before grabbing another piece. "I loved the weapons."
"Tokoyami's fit my vibe." Jirou said, also eating cake. "Peaceful darkness just really hit the mark."
Momo nodded. "Indeed, but I was a fan of Aoyama's room." She admitted. "Such an elegant design and very regal." The girl shoved another slice of cake into her mouth. "It was very appealing."
"Let's be real though." Kirishima said. "We all know who won this competition."
Everyone nodded. "Sato!" They exclaimed, all eating his famous cake.
Said sugar student was rubbing the back of his neck sheepishly. "Thanks, you guys." He said. "I'm glad to see you love the cake."
Aoyama nodded as he calmly dug into his piece. "I may have to bother you for a recipe, dear friend."
Akira was humming in delight as he ate three slices for himself. "I may have to bother you for your services."
"Well, with this out of the way, we should all head to bed." Izuku said, shoving his last two pieces down his throat. "We don't know what Aizawa will have planned for us tomorrow, and I don't want to experience it with his level of sleep."
Everyone shuddered at the reminder of Aizawa and nodded. "Yeah, probably best." Mina said as she wrapped her arms around Izuku. "Well, carry me to my room."
Hagakure laughed as she watched them walk off and decided to take a jab at them. "Remember, you're just dropping her off, not staying!" The crash the bluenette heard made her cackle.
Class 1A, The Next Morning
"Alright, problem children, I hope you're ready for today's lesson." Aizawa said as he stood in front of his class. "Like I said yesterday, you will all be working on getting ready for your provisional license exams." He explained. "This license exam will be hard and unpredictable, not even us teachers will know what challenges you have to beat."
The students shook slightly in anticipation but it was largely overlooked by their excitement.
'This is going to be so much fun; I'm going to rock this!' Kaminari exclaimed in his head.
Mina bounced in her seat. 'Next step to being a hero, here I come!'
'This license…' Izuku clenched his fist. 'I swear I will get it!'
"I want you to listen closely to what I have to say here." Aizawa snapped the attention back to him. "First years usually don't take this exam; your competition will be mostly second years taking the license exam for the first time, or third years repeating the exam." His student's eyes widened and he nodded. "You're going up against experienced students here, so you need to be on top of your game in every aspect of being hero."
Everyone steeled their resolve and nodded. "Yes, sensei!"
The tired man smiled. "Good." He straightened himself up and opened the door with his scarf. "To give you an edge and ensure that you have the best chance in this exam, you will be working on one of the most paramount aspects of a hero."
Cementoss stepped into the room. "Super Moves…"
"And Ultimate Moves." Ectoplasm said, walking in behind the block hero.
"Super moves use all your resources for a tide turning strike." Cementoss explained.
Ectoplasm nodded. "And ultimate moves are those that push your quirk to its absolute limit, it will ensure your victory; it's your finishing move."
"I know most of you have already made at least one super move, with others having a set already." Aizawa's eyes skimmed over a specific few in the classroom. "But I want you all to have more, or at the very least a set battle form." The man released their costumes from the class wall and began to walk out of the classroom with the other teachers. "Put on your costumes and meet us at Gym Gamma."
Gym Gamma
Gym Gamma was a large open space with a stone floor. It looked like the type of space that you would find yourself in a horror movie, empty and desolate. However, there was one feature that kept the minds of the 1A students from moving towards that line of thought.
"Hahaha!" Toshinori laughed as he saw his students walk in together. "Welcome to Gym Gamma, newbies!" He was wearing a pair of Yuuei gym tracks and a form-fitting, black singlet, showing off his large, bulky body. "You can also call this gym the Training Dining Land, or TDL."
"All Might!" The class exclaimed at the former number one.
Toshinori shook his head. "My time as All Might is finished, young ones." He said to them. "From now on and for the rest of my time teaching you all, I will be Yagi-Sensei."
While they were appreciative of the man, a few had concerns. "All Mig- Yagi-Sensei." Todoroki corrected himself. "Are you sure you should be in here; it might not be safe."
Iida nodded. "Indeed, Yagi-Sensei, with your power now gone, would you not be better away from the potential danger our training may bring?" His question got murmurs of agreement from a good portion of the class.
Toshinori's shadowed eyes gained a feral glint and he turned to Cementoss. "Do it."
"Yes, sir." The block hero put his hand on the ground and three pillars of stone shot up out of the ground before snaking their way over to Toshinori.
All student's had wide eyes. "No!" Some of them tried to rush forward, but they weren't fast enough.
"Carolina Smash!" Toshinori had crossed his arms and shot them out after seeing the pillars get close, destroying them completely. "Hmph." His form disappeared and he suddenly flashed behind his students. "Over here!"
"Ah!" Everyone turned around with wide eyes at the man's display of power.
Said large blonde shook his head. "I am grateful for your concerns, young ones, but you forget who I am." His hand went to Izuku's head and he ruffled the boy's hair. "While it's true that I gave up my power to help bring this one back to life…" Everyone cringed at the memory of Izuku's temporary death. "I am still the former number one; loss of power is not loss of experience, even quirkless people are capable of what you are." He roamed his eyes over his students. "You'd do well to remember that."
The students shuffled awkwardly before bowing. "Sorry, Yagi-Sensei!" They chorused together, their minds and world rocked.
Toshinori laughed them off and stood up straight. "It's fine, now listen up!" His students stood up straight. "I, with the help of Cementoss and Ectoplasm here, will be helping you make your super moves." Cementoss created a plethora of large pillars that shot up out of the ground in front of them and multiple Ectoplasm clones shot off and stood on them. "Since I have one of the largest super move sets in Japan's Hero roster, I was deemed essential for this class."
Aizawa nodded and walked up. "These next ten days, until the end of your summer break, will be spent creating your move set." He explained. "You'd all also do well to rethink your costumes, support items are an important part of a hero." His eyes flashed red for a moment as he glared at everyone. "Now get moving!"
Half An Hour Later
Ojiro spun around with a monkey tail and failed to hit his Ectoplasm training clone. 'Damnit.' He quickly used his tail to jump back before sending it forward.
However, Ectoplasm caught it with a sigh and pulled the teen in before sending him to the ground with a clothesline. "You're movements are too telegraphed and simple." He chided as he picked the boy up. "You can change your tails into anything you want, but the heat of battle fogs your mind. Work on it."
Ojiro pouted but nodded. 'He just called me normal.' He looked at his monkey tail before nodding. 'Never mind he's right.'
Akira sighed as he dodged another hit from Kaminari. "Remember, Kaminari, it's supposed to be like an armour." He said as he backed off from the electric blonde and activating his quirk. "You had it last time at the training camp, try and replicate the feeling you had when it worked."
Kaminari looked down at his fist before clenching it and nodding. "You got it, class rep!" He exclaimed before reaching within his core and bringing out his quirk. "Ngh…" The blonde concentrated as it left his body and made sure to keep it around him instead of going out.
"Hahaha!" Akira laughed as he saw the electric blonde power up. "Yes! You did it!"
Kaminari opened his eyes and saw that his body was completely covered by lightning. "Yes!" He held up his fist and yellow lightning crackled off it. "Lightning Hood is operational!" His stance changed and he looked at Akira dead on. "Let's go!" With a burst of speed, he was off.
"Come on, Kirishima!" Toshinori exclaimed as he continued an onslaught on 1A's redhead. "Your defense is strong, but you can eliminate needless damage if you find your opponent's pattern quickly and end it."
The red-haired teen had put up his quirk around his whole body and was waiting for an opening on his teacher's attacks. 'There!' After finding it, he ducked under the blonde's arm and punched him in the chest. "Red Counter!"
However, the attack did almost nothing to the man. "Good." Toshinori praised before he reeled back his leg. "Again."
"You almost got it, Jirou!" Izuku exclaimed as he floated around in the air. "Just angle your hands a bit more up and you won't send yourself to the ground." He thought for a bit before adding. "Or go higher and keep that angle so you can hit them from above."
The purple-haired girl nodded before aiming her hands at the ground and concentrating. 'Come on, come on.' She suddenly lifted off the ground before getting up to Izuku's height and hovering. "Alright, here goes nothing!" Jirou's soundwaves shot her up higher before she angled them down slightly. "Aaaaagh!" Her form shot towards Izuku and she reached him quickly before kneeing him in the chest.
"Hmph." Izuku nodded with a grin as he took the blow. "Good job." He caught her arm as she began to fall. "But don't forget about your flying."
Mina and Hagakure hummed as they tried to find out how to bring their super moves to reality. "What if you focus on compacting your widespread attacks to make them more powerful?" Hagakure theorised.
"How would I even go about that?" Mina looked at her palms and feet confused. "Should I get a nozzle?"
Their thoughts were cut off as they heard an explosion above them. "A.P Shot!" Bakugou yelled as a concentrated explosive beam rocketed through his fingers. "Haha! I did it!"
"Oh!" Mina looked at her hand and activated her acid before clapping her hands together. "Make my hands the nozzle!" She moved them around for a few moments before finding the right position. "Got it!" Internally, she was still trying to move the acid as it was away from her. 'Wait, did it just flicker up?'
Hagakure nodded and looked at her hands before thinking. "Focus…" She whispered to herself before letting out a large flash of light from her palm. "Focus…" The light leaving her hand slowly began to dampen until her hand was glowing brightly. "Hmm…" Her fist shot towards the nearest pillar and a blinding explosion of light followed after her strike, destroying it. "Oh yeah, this'll work nicely."
Momo and Sato stood around a table with multiple delicacies and devoured them before activating their quirks. "Come on…" Sato concentrated on his arm as it bulged before it cut down to a regular size. "Sugar Stack Strike!" He hit the closest stone pillar to him and the attack broke the other two behind it.
"Gauntlets." Momo's fist was covered in bulky metallic gloves that steamed. "Wait, what's my hero name again?" She racked her brain until she remembered it. "Ah, perfect!" The atmosphere around her did a complete flip as her eyes became shadowed. "Genesis Gauntlets." Her entire body turned as she struck the pillar closest to her and it shattered explosively.
"Hippity Hoppity: Froppy Flurry!" Tsu shouted as she rushed against Shoji with a powerful onslaught of capoeira kicks.
The multi-armed teen raised an eyebrow as he summoned forth more arms and blocked her quick attacks. "Are you sure-" Shoji ducked and struck back with nine fists, sending the frog girl back. "Are you sure you want to stick with Hippity Hoppity?"
Tsu shrugged. "It'll be great with the kids." She said before jumping in between multiple pillars and flashing above the teen. "Hippity Hoppity…" The frog girl shot herself towards Shoji with a flip and kept her leg out. "Axe!"
"Incoming!" Iida continued to shout as he ran laps around the gym while smashing through the stone pillars that Cementoss continued to assault him with. "Revving Rush!" He jumped in the air and used his quirk's engines to turn himself into a tornado before smashing multiple pillars converging on him at once. "Yes, indeed, that was me!" His smile was adorable in a dorky way.
Tokoyami wrapped himself with Dark Shadow and got into a stance. "Are you ready, friend?" He asked his sparring partner.
"Yes." Aoyama said as his quirk's beam slowly came out of his arm like a sword. "Nova Blade…"
The two smiled before rushing at each other. Dark Shadow winced at the French-teens blade but continued to persist. Similarly, Aoyama was on the back pedal as he continued as hard as he could to keep up with the onslaught of attacks.
"Alright… Sero." Ochako breathed out as she lifted another bunch of rubble while she was floating in the air. "More… up." She almost hurled but kept it in.
Sero smiled before wrapping his tape around the rubble. "Thanks, Uraraka!" He exclaimed as he looked at the Ectoplasm clone he was fighting. "Trident!" The rubble came down like a meteor and crushed the clone, turning it into mush.
The real Ectoplasm could feel the attack and sighed before turning his attention back to Koda. "Are you ready?" At the student's nod, multiple copies of him began to appear before merging into a giant Ectoplasm.
Koda said nothing but had a determined look on his face. His costume began to morph around him as he changed form and he suddenly became a black-furred gorilla. "Ragh!" However, this one seemed to be twice the size of his usual one, putting him up to Ectoplasm's knee. "Hoo!" With another grunt, he shot off towards his teacher's chest with his fist reeled back.
"Almost there…" Todoroki concentrated as his right arm became completely covered in ice. "Frost Giant." He looked to his other arm and smiled when he saw the arm covered completely in flames. "Flashfire Fist." His eyes flickered to the pillars around him and he shrugged before beginning to assault them, destroying them with his new empowered strikes.
"That was good, Todoroki." Aizawa said as he watched the teen. "You finally managed to get them out at the same time."
Todoroki nodded but still had one more move he wanted to try and turned off his quirk on both sides of his body before standing stock. Holding out his arm, the frost completely overtook it before he reeled it back and shot it forward again. "Fimbulwinter!" The effect was instantaneous as the entire area ahead of him was covered completely by ice and ice spikes.
"…" Aizawa said nothing before leaving and going to watch another student. 'That phrase is going to be coming out of an action figure at the rate he's going.' He smiled as he looked around at all his students. 'They're going to be great.'
1A Dorms, Common Area, Night-Time
"Thank you all for coming here." Akira said as he looked out at all his classmates in their pyjamas. "I know you're all tired but I thought that we'd want to get this all out of the way as quickly as possible." He explained. "Especially since it pertains to the exam in nine days."
Bakugou huffed. "What do you want all of us for; I'm skipping bedtime for this."
Akira stifled a laugh and continued. "Well, I thought it would be best if we all talked together about how each of us can push our quirks to our absolute limits." He pointed towards Izuku. "Courtesy of Izuku, you will all now be receiving comprehensive reports of yourselves, strengths, weaknesses, battle forms, the lot." The black-haired teen explained. "He's also written down certain things you can all do to improve your quirks and attacks."
"Woah!" Kaminari read over his report with starry eyes. "This move set sounds sick!"
Momo also looked at hers with apt interest. "Inorganic chemical compounds…" Her eyes widened and a grin appeared on her face. "Explosions!" She silently exclaimed.
"Dude, this is really well done." Ojiro said as he went over the possible tail combinations he could theoretically use. "You wrote all of this?"
Izuku nodded. "Analysed every single person here since the start of the year for this purpose." He explained. "It's also a fun way to keep my strategic mind in shape."
"Look at my smart little Izuku." Mina said as she mushed his face together with her hands. "You're a little genius, I couldn't have thought of half these moves on my own!" She hugged him tight before sitting in his lap and continuing to read her file.
Akira smiled at everyone going over their files. "We're all going to try and see if these moves have validity to them and train on them tomorrow." He said before handing out another few pieces of pad paper. "And we're also all going to be changing our costumes together. Not that anyone's here is bad, but we all know that they could look better."
Iida nodded. "Yes, and we could even change them to accommodate these new special moves Midoriya has provided us with!" He exclaimed, tears in his eyes. "You two are such great class representatives!"
Akira smiled at him before turning to everyone else. "Alright, people, let's get to it!"
