Magnia wanted to go talk to Ratchet, and Bumblebee had just spotted Optimus across the room, looking annoyed.
"I better go talk to him," Bee sighed. "I'll see you later Mags."
She intertwined her digits with his, "I'll miss you.'"
Bee smiled, "I'll miss you too." He kissed her forehelm and watched her walk away with a happy sigh, before strolling over to Optimus.
"...So," he gestured to the empty ship. "Who….were they?"
"Ratchet's old apprentice First Aid and another pair of twins," Optimus sighed. "Bumblebee, you are aware that Magnia is just using you, right?"
Bee completely ignored his question, "Where...will the...new bots...be staying?"
Optimus stared at him, "Did you hear what I just asked?"
Bee nodded, "So we...don't...fight...anymore...I'm ignoring...your comments...about….Magnia."
"What? You can't just do that!"
"I can...and...I will," Bee crossed his arms. "Care to...talk about...something else?...Maybe...what we...thinking of...naming...the sparkling?"
Optimus didn't really want to change the subject, but it was an intriguing new topic, "What were you thinking?"
"If...femme...Lunablade...or...Magma...If...mech...Orion...or...Firebee."
"Orion?" Optimus looked a little flattered. "Who suggested that?"
Bumblebee almost lied and said Magnia, but he knew Optimus would see right through that. "...Me," he sighed. "But...Magnia...liked it...thought...might make...you happy."
"So, she is attempting to bribe me into liking her," Optimus said sourly.
"No...she's not," Bee looked confused. "She just...likes your...name."
"Bumblebee, how can you not see that the femme is bad news?" Optimus narrowed his optics. "She was Megatron's right hand bot, and now suddenly she's on our side?"
Bee exhaled, "So...how's the...search for...wandering...Cybertronians...going?"
"Bumblebee, this is madness!" Optimus yelled. "You cannot just keep ignoring everything I say!"
"I wouldn't...have to...if everything...you said...wasn't about...my...bonded," Bumblebee muttered angrily.
"That blasted femme is ruining our relationship," Optimus growled.
"No...you are!" Bumblebee crossed his arms. "If you...would stop...fighting...with me...and with her...our...relationship...would be fine." He looked at Optimus pleadingly, "Optimus...I know...she is a...good person."
"How?" Optimus threw his servos in the air. "How do you know she isn't just controlling you?"
"Because...we have...love," Bee sighed. "I would...know if...our love...wasn't real...Optimus."
Optimus shook his helm, "You are choosing her over me again Bumblebee. You are on her side."
"Not on...anyone's...side!" Bee groaned.
"Why is it you like her so much more than me?" Optimus' shoulders slumped. "You will not believe me, or even consider that she might have her own agenda. One to harm you. I'm just trying to protect you!"
"Optimus...you protect me...too much!" Bumblebee poked an angry digit at his chassis. "How many...times...have to...tell you...not a...sparkling...anymore?"
"Well, I apologize, but that is my job, as your father!" Optimus yelled. "And that conniving glitch is going to get you killed!"
"Optimus...she is...important to...me and...I'm your...son!" Bumblebee shouted. "Don't...you...trust me?"
"You are my adoptive son," Optimus said spitefully. "And no, I don't trust you; you don't know what you're doing!"
Bumblebee's helm snapped up with a surprised and hurt look, before returning his gaze to the floor. "Optimus..." he started and shook his helm.
"Bumblebee, I didn't mean-" Optimus started, but it was too late. The damage had been done. Bumblebee's shoulders slumped and he glanced at Optimus, optics holding back tears, before transforming and racing away.
"Bumblebee, wait!" Optimus called but the scout had already disappeared. Optimus scrubbed his faceplates with one servo, mentally cursing himself.
What is wrong with me? Optimus berated himself. I said that on purpose because I knew it was cruel and it would hurt him, because I just had to be right.
Guilty and feeling like the lowest scum of Cybertron, Optimus searched the base for Bumblebee. He didn't have to look long before he found him on an outcropping of rock near the base. But someone had found him before Optimus had; Magnia.
"Bee, tell me what happened, please?" Magnia begged, and Optimus crouched behind a boulder, listening.
"Optimus..." Bee finally admitted. His knees were drawn to his chest sadly. "He said...I'm not...his son."
"What?" Magnia cried. "Why would he say that? He cares about you a lot." Bee shrugged unhappily and Magnia hugged him comfortingly, "I'm sure he didn't mean it, Bee."
Optimus shifted behind the boulder, accidentally knocking over some loose rocks. Bumblebee didn't notice, too full of grief, but Magnia heard it and glanced back, suspicious.
"I'm gonna go get you some energon," Magnia patted his shoulder. He nodded and she walked over to the boulder, silently motioning to Optimus to follow her.
Once they were in the base and out of Bee's audio range, she turned to him, "Optimus, this must end."
"What must end?"
"All of this fighting," she sighed. "People are getting hurt, like Bumblebee."
"Why should I do anything for you?" Optimus snarled.
Magnia raised an optic ridge, "For starters, I am carrying your grand-sparkling. And secondly, if this fighting doesn't stop, I will leave and take the sparkling with me. I won't have them raised in the middle of all this; it's unfair to them."
"Fine," Optimus crossed his arms. "What do you suggest?"
She sighed, "I'm not saying you have to like me. I think if we just completely ignore each other it will work out alright. It would have been nice if we could have gotten along, but obviously you won't let that happen."
She stuck out her servo, "Now what do you say? For Bumblebee?"
Optimus hesitated and then shook her servo, "For Bumblebee, I will completely ignore you and I will never say anything to him about you. But I will keep my ideas that you're a traitorous Decepticon."
Magnia smiled a little and shook her helm, "I suspected you would. Now, go talk to your son. He's pretty upset." She walked away, leaving Optimus staring after her.
"What a femme," he muttered to himself, and went outside to talk to Bumblebee.
"Mags...?" Bee turned when he heard pedsteps, but when he saw Optimus his jaw clenched and he turned back around.
"Bumblebee?" Optimus asked, but there was no response. "Please talk to me; I am sorry about what I said before."
"Sorry...doesn't...always...cut it," Bumblebee buried his faceplates in his arms. "After...all we've...been through...together...thought I...meant more...to you...than just...some...sparkling...you adopted...can see now...was...fooling myself."
Optimus' spark was practically breaking at his words, "No, Bumblebee, you do mean so much more to me than that. You mean even more to me than just my son; you're my student, my only family, my best soldier, and the bot I trust most."
"You said...before...you don't...trust me."
Optimus sighed, "I only said that because I feared your love for Magnia was clouding your judgement. But I realize now that you probably know more than me about love; I have never even been bonded and you are already bonded and about to have a sparkling. I haven't been caring enough recently about your feelings for her, and for that I am sorry. That is why the two of us have come to an agreement."
"You...have?" Bee peered at him curiously through his arms.
Optimus nodded, "We are going to completely ignore each other, and I promised I wouldn't say anything bad about her."
Bee sighed, "I was...hoping...you two...would actually...like each other...but I guess...it's better than nothing."
"Bumblebee..." Optimus sighed. "I am so sorry I said those things to you; none of them were true. You are my son, and I love you with all my spark. If this Decepticon femme means so much to you, then I will shut up about it from here on out."
Bumblebee smiled, "Thanks...Optimus." They hugged and when they broke apart Bumblebee said, "Just so...you know...calling her...a Decepticon...is an...insult."
Optimus chuckled, "Alright, fine."
As they headed back to the base, Bumblebee breathed a sigh of happiness. For the first time since they had met, the two bots he cared about most were finally getting along.
