Chapter 17: Trip to Namek

Gohan was panting as he turned the gravity machine off. "Well that was a good workout."

Raditz was crawling on his hands and knees. "You call that a workout? You're worse than Vegeta when it comes to training!"

Gohan rested his hands on his knees as he tried to catch his breath. "I highly doubt that."

Raditz used the wall to stand upright. "Who knew gravity training could be so straining on your body and only at twenty five times earth gravity."

"Have you ever been in higher gravity?"

Raditz nodded. "I didn't feel much difference at all until you went after ten times this planets gravity. I'm assuming I never been to a planet that had higher gravity than ten times this planets."

Gohan nodded. "Well I'm going to take a shower. You want to go see dad after this?"

"Why would I want to see his idiotic face." Raditz sneered.

"Have you looked in a mirror lately?"

"I'm getting a little tired of your smart remarks brat."

Gohan stuck his tounge out. "Just go see him. We leave for Namek tomorrow. This might be your last chance in a while to see him. I know you two bonded over the last week."

Raditz huffed. "Yeah right. I can't even have an intelligent conversation with him. That blow to the head that he suffured as a kid must've gave him brain damage. He's as dumb as a rock."

"Hey that's my father you're talking about! He's not dumb!"

"Well he's my brother and I'm just being honest. He's as dumb as the Kanassians"

Gohan cocked his head to the side. "Kanassians? Whats that?"

"It was a planet of beings who could supposedly see the future. If they could see the future then why didn't they see that attack coming? My only guess is that they were dumb."

Gohan put a finger to his chin in thought. "Well there are other reasons. Maybe their future vision was limited? Maybe they saw the attack, but didn't know the date it was happening? Maybe they knew their was no way to stop it? Maybe they had no means of leaving or nowhere to go. Maybe they couldn't survive on other planets. Maybe-"

"You're letting your inner nerd out again." Raditz said with a smirk.

Gohan blushed in embarrassment. "I'm not a nerd!" He said as he stomped his foot. " Anyway lets get cleaned up and head to the hospital."

"Yes sir. Right away." Raditz said with a mock salute.

-The next day-

Gohan, Krillin, Tien, Bulma and Raditz were all boarding the ship and ready for take off.

"Don't forget to study! Remember to brush your teeth at all times!" Chi Chi yelled as Gohan was going up the ships ramp.

"Don't worry mom I'll be fine."

"Come back soon Han! I'll miss you." Chiku yelled with a wave.

Gohan waved back. "I'll miss you too!"

"Bye uncle Radish!" Chiku yelled.

Raditz groaned and gave a small wave while Gohan snickered. "Radish." He mumbled causing Raditz to glare in his direction.

The door shut and everyone strapped in and got ready for launch. After a couple minutes they lifted off into space.

Raditz was the first to unhook his seat belt. He stood up and stretched followed by Gohan. "Well brat lets get back to training."

Tien stood up as well. "Mind if I join you? I could use a little training myself."

Raditz snorted. "If you can keep up then be my guest, but we won't be slowing down for you."

"Trust me I can do more than just keep up." Tien said with a glare. He followed Raditz to the gravity room.

Gohan turned to Krillin. "You coming?"

Krillin shrugged. "Well I have nothing better to do."

Raditz walked over to the machine and set the gravity to ten times normal gravity. He looked over to everyone in the room. "Get ready because i'm about to begin the gravity simulation."

Everyone braced themselves for the change in gravity. Raditz started the machine and the pressure of the gravity set in. Gohan and Raditz were unfazed, but Krillin and Tien were struggling to stand.

"You weaklings can't even handle ten times your planets gravity! This is pathetic." Raditz said with a sigh. "How are we going to get stronger with those two weighing us down."

"We'll just have to divide our time evenly instead of training together. If we do train together I can just make some weighted clothing for the both of us while keeping the Gravity low enough for Tien and Krillin." Gohan suggested.

Raditz put a finger to his chin. "Thats not such a bad idea. Put the weighted clothes on us so they can at least get use to this gravity."

Gohan used his materialization technique to put weighted clothes on himself and Raditz. They both fell to their hands and knees from the weight.

"I didn't think it would be this effective!" Gohan said as he struggled to stand to his feet.

Raditz was on one knee. "Neither did I, but we must prevail if we wish to get stronger!"

'There is no way I'm going to let them get so far ahead of me. I WILL keep up even if it kills me!' Tien thought as he finally stood up.

Krillin was on his hands and knees. 'I hope I don't die before getting to namek!'

After a few hours of training Tien and Krillin walked out of the gravity room to recover. Gohan and Raditz decided to stay and crank up the gravity.

"How strong do you think we'll be when we hit Namek?" Raditz asked while doing push ups.

Gohan was shadow boxing. "Hopefully we'll be stronger than all of the Ginyu force."

"And you still hope to take on Frieza? You do realize he's a whole hell of a lot stronger than the Ginyu force right?"

Gohan dropped down to do vertical push ups. "Yup, but that's not going to stop me. He needs to be stopped and it has to be now."

Raditzs jumped up and started doing Vertical push ups along with Gohan. "And why now? Why is taking him down now so important? Why not wait until you're strong enough?"

"He's after the dragonballs. He wants immortality. He needs to be stopped before he can make that wish or its over for all of us."

Raditz stopped his pushups and fell on his back to the ground. "An immortal Frieza? That's a living hell waiting to happen. Eternal hell."

"Which is why we're going to Namek. I need to wish my friends back and put an end to that menace."

"And if you die?"

Gohan jumped to his feet ending his push ups. "Then I take that bastard down with me or destroy the balls so he can never make his wish."

Raditz chuckled as he stood up. "Spoken like a true saiyan. Well you can count me in the fight. If we all die we might as well go out with a blaze of glory."

Gohan shook his head. " I don't want you fighting with us. I want you to leave this planet before we even have to fight Frieza."

Raditz looked skeptical. "Why is that? You need all the help you can get."

"If we all manage to die we need someone out there getting stronger and stronger until you're ready to take on Frieza to avenge us. Its a last ditch effort. A plan Z per-say."

Raditz sighed. "I would rather fight and have you escape. You have so much more life to see. If anyone escapes it'll be you."

Gohan smiled. "I appreciate that, but we'll have to disagree."

Raditz walked over and turned off the gravity machine. "Lets get some rest for now. I'm starving."

-The next day-

"This sucks. Krillins suppose to die, and I can't change it?" Gohan said with his fist clenched.

Majunior nodded. "I know its the worse, but at least he'll be wished back within four months. I hate that it was his death that allowed dad to turn super saiyan. I wish there was another way."

"Their might be another way. What if I were to takes Krillins place."

"NO!" Mystic and Majunior yelled at the same time.

"We're here to make life better for you and to prepare you. You're not going to throw your life away like that." Mystic scolded. "Death is not something I want you to go through."

Majunior nodded in agreement. "Yeah you're only five years old. You're not dying on the battlefield. Don't ever talk about trading your life like that."

Gohan lowered his head. "I'm sorry. I just want to be able to save everyone."

Mystic patted his head and ruffled his hair. "Trust me I know how you feel, but believe me you can't save everyone. Don't put that burden on yourself. You can only do the best that you can. You're only five years old. "

Majunior smiled. "You'll be able to do alot more in a few years. Your body will mature and you'll be alot more powerful. You'll be able to protect alot more people."

"I guess you're right." Gohan said as he stood up. "I wonder how much will change now that Tien and uncle Raditz are with me."

"I would like to prevent that change, but I guess that's impossible." Mystic stated.

Majunior clapped him on the back. "Don't worry too much. We'll adapt and overcome like we always do."

Mystic rolled his eyes. "Is that gonna be your new catch phrase or something? I swear you say that for every situation."

Majuniour chuckled. "Hey you said it first. I'm just trying to uplift you with your own words of encouragement."

Gohan smiled. "Well I guess I'll get out of here."

"Hold on!" Mystic said. "I...I want to have a conversation with Raditz."

Gohans eyes brightened. "You finally want to have a go in my body?"

Mystic shook his head. "No not at all. That's too dangerous. We don't know the limitations of that yet. Plus its your body. I don't want you to have to share control over it with us. We lived our lives already."

Gohan sighed. "You're so uptight. How are you suppose to talk to uncle Raditz then?"

"I'll communicate with you, so just repeat what I say."

Raditz was at the table eating after a training session in the gravity room. He looked to the door when he heard someone enter.

"I just finished training with the tri-clops. You and the midget can have a go in the room now." Raditz said as he continued to eat.

Gohan took a seat across the table from him. "Actually I wanted to talk to you about something."

Raditz stopped eating and turned to his nephew. "Go on."

"Well I remember hearing you say that dad was like his parents and that his parents were different from normal saiyans." Gohan said.

Raditz nodded. "They're my parents too but thats right."

"Would you say that Vegeta and Nappa were the definition of normal saiyans?"

"Yes. Where is this going?" Raditz questioned.

"By that logic that means you are different from most saiyans too." Gohan answered. "Allow me to explain. When you came to earth you could've killed Dad as soon as he denied you the first time, but you didn't. You gave him multiple chances. I don't even think you would've killed him. You had plenty of chances, but you didn't do it. Also when dad grabbed your tail you begged and pleaded with him to let go. I can't see Nappa or Vegeta ever doing something so damaging to their pride."

"So what are you saying?" Raditz asked.

"I'm saying you're different in a good way, but also a bad way. You didn't want to kill dad and you manipulated him by saying you would change your ways if he let you go. You had no pride in doing that. I hate to say this, but what I'm getting from this is that you're a coward."

Raditz stood up with a glare on his face. "You wanna say that again?"

"Look I'm not trying to hurt you or make you mad. I'm just calling it as I see it. Maybe something happened to make you that way. I'm not saying its your fault, but you are a coward. That is something you're going to have to overcome if you ever want to be happy in life."

At that moment Gohans eyes turned grey and his voice seemed to sound different. "Trust me I've been there. I've been weak and afraid. I was so afraid of my own power and afraid of hurting people. I was afraid of almost every enemy I faced off against. Friends died because I was weak. Piccolo and my father died because I was a coward." Gohan clenched his hands together. "Don't be like me. Don't wait until its too late to conquer your fear."

Gohans eyes returned to normal as he stood up and walked back to his room. He got into a meditative position. When he opened his eyes he saw Mystic and Majunior. "What happened guys? Those weren't my words towards the end."

Majunior smiled. "It seemed to me that you and mystic did a little sync action. Not much but enough where his voice came through instead of yours. I gotta say I was quite suprised."

Mystic rubbed the back of his neck in embarrassment. "I'm sorry. My emotions got the best of me."

Gohan waved him off. "Don't worry about it. As soon as I said the word coward I started thinking of how I was a coward when I ignored you guys. My emotions were a little out of control too. I guess that's why we kind of semi synced."

Majunior put a hand to his chin in thought." We really need to learn more about this Syncing stuff. We need to test the boundaries of it."

"We can do that after Namek. We'll have enough on our hands with Frieza and the Ginyu force." Mystic said.

Gohan nodded. "Yeah we can focus on that later, but for now I want to go train. I'll see you guys later."

-The next day-

"How much longer do we have until we reach Namek?" Gohan asked.

"From my calculations we should be there in four more days." Bulma answered. "So you met Tights, but did you meet Erasa yet?"

Gohan shook his head. "Not yet. I told her I'll meet her after this Namek trip."

"So what was your first impression of Tights?"

Gohan shuddered at his first memory of meeting her. "She's a bit strange and creepy."

Bulma chuckled. "Yeah she's a bit out there. A little more eccentric than most."

"She also very reliable and quite easy to talk to." Gohan continued. "She may scare me a bit, but I like her."

Bulma smiled. "I'm glad to hear that. After you said you met her and got dad to build a spaceship I called her. She told me she gave you a phone to keep in contact with her. She must've really taking a liking to you."

Gohan chuckled nervously while sweating a bit. " Oh really?"

Bulma nodded. "Yeah. Hopefully she settles in one spot now instead of moving around all the time."

"She did mention something about taking a break from traveling to be with her daughter more. "

"I hope she means it." Bulma said as she stood up. "Well I'm going to go take a nap."

Gohan sweat dropped. 'Another nap? How much can she sleep?' "Oh okay. I'll go train a little more then." Gohan got up and walked to the room Krillin was occupying. He knocked and entered after hearing Krillin say come in.

"Hey Krillin I was wondering if you wanted to do mental image training. I need to train my mind as much as my body."

Krillin sat down in lotus position. "Sure thing buddy. It beats destroying my body in the gravity room."

Two days later.

Tien was training in the gravity room with Raditz again. He threw a punch at Raditz only for the saiyan to duck under it and land an uppercut to Tiens chin flooring him.

"What the hell was that tri-clops? I thought you were better than this! I guess you're just a weakling after all.

Tien stood up and glared at his opponent. He ran forward and threw a massive barrage of attacks at the saiyan. He managed to kick Raditz in the chest sending him to the other side of the room. Radtiz clenched his chest in pain. "Now thats more like it. Keep up that intensity and I might get a decent workout."

After about two hours Tien was sitting in his room with a few ice packs on his body.

"Hey Tien. Heavy training today?" Krillin asked as he walked in.

Tien sighed. "Yeah. I need to get as strong as I can. I need to be able to hold my ground and more in the future. Who knows when we'll meet another opponent like those saiyans."

Krillin nodded. "I know how you feel. I always thought there were people just as strong or maybe even a little stronger than us around. I believed Goku to be the strongest in the whole world, but then these saiyans popped up. I never knew such strength existed. I thought we were as strong as we were ever going to get, but here we are pushing our bodies and becoming stronger. Its crazy how things turned out."

Tien clenched his fist. "Yeah and of all things we've been surpassed by a little kid. Its a little frustrating."

"I want to say its because of his saiyan genes, but that's not all true. You've seen as much as I have how hard that kid trains. His training is rigorous, but the results are worth it. Have you trained with him mentally yet?" Krillin asked.

Tien nodded. "I did last night. His mind is powerful, but somethings not right. I felt another presence knicking at the back of my mind. It made me a little unsettled."

Krillin nodded. "Yeah he has so much control over his mindscape. Theres no way anyone can beat him in an image battle."

Tien snorted. "None of us can even beat him in a spar and I'm sure he's holding back. How did this kid get so strong. That isn't natural."

Krillin shrugged his shoulders. "I'm not worried about it too much. He's on our side, he's just a kid at heart and he's Goku's kid at that. I'm sure he will grow to be just like his father."

"The kid is a mystery and that bugs me. There's something going on here and I don't like it." Tien said.

Krilin sighed. "Just try to get to know him Tien. He's a good kid." He walked out of the room leaving Tien to his thoughts.

Two days later.

Alarms started going off as Bulma ran to the controls. She picked up a microphone and tapped on it a few times. "Guys you might want to get strapped in. We'll be landing in fifteen minutes."

Everyone strapped in and the ship landed on Namek in no time. "Okay now I don't know if we'll be able to breathe or not on this planet, so let me check the atmosphere first." Bulma said only to find that everyone left the ship already.

She stormed out of the ship with her balled of fist on her hips. "You guys are so dense! What if they're was no breathable air on this planet! You would be dead!"

Raditz rolled his eyes. Did you forget that they're Namekians living here? If they're able to live here then the atmosphere must be okay."

Bulma turned her nose up at him.

Krillin nervously scratched the back of his head. "Okay guys lets just put the ship in a capsule before something bad happens."

Krillins face turned pale as he, Tien and Gohan looked in the sky. They saw a pod flying across the sky. "Lower your power levels quick! That was Vegeta in the space ship!"

Tiens eyes widened as he lowered his ki.

Gohan and Raditz lowered theirs as well. "Is that really Vegeta? I couldn't sense it."

Gohan nodded. "Your still new with the energy sensing thing so its normal. It seems Vegeta was able to learn a bit about it too since he's surpressing his energy."

"Are you sure it was suppressed Gohan?" Krililn asked.

Gohan nodded. "Yeah I can tell he's hiding a bit of his power."

"So he's gotten even stronger already!" Tien sighed.

Another ship flew by following Vegeta's ship.

"Who the hell is that?" Tien asked. "His power is higher than Vegetas when he faced off against Goku."

"If what you say is true I can only guess that its Cui. He was always gung ho about taking Vegeta down." Raditz said. "You said Vegeta is stronger, so he should be able to dispose of him. Hell even I can take him out after that intense training."

Gohan turned his head to the right. "Somethings coming this way. Put the ship in a capsule quick!"

Gohan got into a stance and awaited for the enemies.

"Gohan it could just be some local Namekians. You know Piccolo was strong, so it only makes sense that his people are strong too." Bulma tried to reason.

Gohan shook his head. "Trust me. I don't think they're Namekian."

Two of Frieza's goons came around the corner with their blasters ready.

"Its just a kid a woman and a midget. They must be travelers. Looks like its just not their day." One of the goons said.

A quick second later and both goons were knocked out on the ground with Tien and Raditz standing behind them.

Raditz took the scouter off of both men. He set both of them and put one over his eye. He tossed the other to Gohan. "I have it set so they won't hear us, but we will hear them, so put that on."

Gohan put the scouter on and Raditz pushed a button on his scouter. His eyes widened. "Frieza is here. He's looking for the dragonballs to make him immortal."

"Who's Frieza?" Krillin asked.

Raditz's eyes widened. He turned to Gohan receiving a pleading look. Raditz sighed. "He's the one who runs the Galactic empire. He's the strongest person you'll ever see. He single handedly destroyed planet Vegeta effortlessly."

"Wait I thought you said it was a meteor that destroyed your planet." Bulma said.

"That's the lie we were fed. Later on Nappa and I heard rumors that Frieza was the real reason for our planets destruction. Vegeta confirmed it later. He's been biding his time ever since to get revenge."

Gohans eyes widened. "Guys we have to move." He scanned the area until he saw a cave. "Lets go into this cave and quick!" He grabbed Bulma and ran towards the cave. Raditz, Krillin and Tien were right behind him.

"Lower your power levels everyone!" Tien yelled.

A few seconds later they saw a group of people flying with Frieza being in the front.

Krillin and Tien had sweat dripping down their faces while panting nervously.

Bulma looked around at them until she heard Krillins voice."Bulma please check the dragon radar. I want to know If they have any dragon balls yet."

"Sure okay." Bulma clicked the dragon radar and gasped. "Four of them are moving in the same direction as those guys, so they have four!"

"This is bad." Tien said. "That guy in the front was a monster! If someone like him gets the dragon balls its over for all of us."

Krillin nodded. "I'm guessing that he was Frieza."

Raditz nodded. "It sure was. I'm not that good at feeling power levels yet, but even I felt that one."

'I knew he would be strong, but this is ridiculous. And you say he gets even stronger?' Gohan asked his future counter parts.

'He does.' Majuniors said.

'He only gets stronger. The power you feel right now is only a fraction of what he truly is.' Mystic added.

Gohan sighed. "Well first things first. Bulma can you set up the capsule house in this cave?"

Bulma nodded. "I should be able too."

"Okay uncle Raditz can you and Tien stay here with Bulma. Krillin and I will check out Frieza and the rest."

"Wait why are we going? I can stay here and help Bulma." Krillin said.

Tien agreed. "I want to be out there helping if I can."

Gohan raised his hand to silence them. " We're not fighting. We're just gonna observe. Its easier for Krillin and I to hide and sneak around because we're smaller. You two would just cause too much attention."

Raditz nodded. "That does make sense."

Gohan smirked. "Lets go Krillin."
