Chapter 18: Dealing with the past

I couldn't tell them, I can't risk it not yet once Naraku is dead then I'll tell them "I can't tell anyone, not yet" I said softly "I don't like the idea of not knowing what you're going through but if you think this is best then I'll trust you" Koga said. "I trust you" Hakkaku said "I do too" Ginta says "Thank you, it may not seem the best thing to do but it's better this way" I said just then I had the feeling of something spying on us, me, somethings not right I can't be paranoid, I waved my hand over the water. "Yuzuki?" Koga said "I'm just checking out something I have a strange feeling that somethings watching us" I said, the guys came to my side and watched the water as I did, the water showed the area around us, it was all clear just when I thought it was clear there was a ripple in an area of the forest. "What's that?" Ginta asked "A barrier maybe… I'll have to check it out" I said "We're coming" Koga said "We can't leave the others behind, we should all go together" I said "I'll let them know and come back with them just stay here" Koga says and takes off, I looked closely at the ripple.

I saw a ripple of something white speckles, my brows knitted together as I tried to figure out what it was exactly, a barrier with white speckles? Wait white speckles, snow barrier it has to be another sorcerer, maybe I can get that person on our side. Just then the water turned to ice then shattered I gasped "Yuzuki!" Ginta and Hakkaku exclaimed "What happened?" Hakkaku asked "Are you ok?" Ginta asked "I'm fine… I think there's another one, another sorcerer" I said. "Another sorcerer?" Ginta and Hakkaku said at once "Yes and I think I have a good idea of what they control" I said as I looked to the shattered ice pieces that had started to melt "How many sorcerers do you think they are out there?" Hakkaku asked. "I don't know… But the more people we have on our side the better" I said "Would this mean that they know about us or you?" Ginta asked "Most likely, if I were them I would have fled by now then again maybe it's a trick…" I said "A trick? You don't think they want to lure us in?" Hakkaku said.

"They could it depends on their intentions" I said "Hey what's that over there?" Hakkaku said as he pointed over to the forest there was a person in white fluffy robes, the person flicked their hand out send icicles our way. I raised my hands letting the water rise up and turned the water to ice the icicles hit my ice wall and shattered the ice sorcerer was gone "Where'd he go"? Ginta said "Or she" Hakkaku says I looked down to the ice that slowly started to melt. There was a note surround by a little barrier in one of the icicles I grabbed the icicle and let it turn to water I took down the barrier and read the note 'We know everything, watch your back' I frowned as I felt my heart race "Yuzuki what is it?" Ginta asked. "She or he left a note… I'm not sure if this is meant to be helpful or if it's a threat" I said I as I passed it to Ginta to read, Hakkaku stood by him and read it as well "Sounds like a threat to me" Hakkaku growled "Maybe the sorcerer is giving a warning I mean why couldn't she or he just speak rather than being mysterious sending a note in a icicle" Ginta said.

"Either way looks like we don't have to go after them, I'm sure if they know everything about me they'll show up when they want to and when they do that's when we'll know if they're on our side or not" I said "Hopefully they're on our side" Ginta said "Still I don't think we should let our guard down, anything could happen" Hakkaku said. "Yuzuki!" Kagome yelled I looked back to see everyone come over "What happened?" Koga asked seeing the ice melt "A sorcerer showed up and sent this note to Yuzuki" Hakkaku said "It says, we know everything, watch your back" Ginta said. "A threat?" Koga growled "It may not be I mean the sorcerer never hurt you guys' right?" Sango said "That's right the sorcerer never spoke or revealed their self either" I said "So it could possibly just be a warning" Miroku said. "Possibly…" I said "So are we going to just stand around or go after this sorcerer?" Inuyasha snapped I sighed as I rolled my eyes "I think it may be best to not do anything until we know more about whoever is behind this note" Miroku said "I agree rushing in not knowing if they are friend or foe could be dangerous" Sango said.

"So we packed up for nothing…" Inuyasha growled "Oh shut up Inuyasha, stop complaining all the time" I snapped "I wouldn't have to if we weren't doing pointless things like this mission which clearly is meant only for you" Inuyasha puffed. "I never asked you to tag along so go off and hunt Naraku if you don't want to come like I'd want you and your stupid mood swings hanging around me" I growled "You need us you only have one life" Inuyasha said "I can protect myself just fine, I'm a lot stronger than you think" I snapped. "Stronger in sorcerer powers but what if you end up losing your powers you won't be able to defend yourself too well then" Inuyasha said "May I say something?" Miroku said "No" Inuyasha and I both said. "Ever since you showed up there's been nothing but trouble and I'm sick of having to go on ridiculous rescue missions last time you got yourself kidnapped, I'm the hanyo that saves this group all the time and you're just getting everyone into trouble" Inuyasha said "Inuyasha!" Kagome and Sango exclaimed "Mutt how dare you say that about Yuzuki she gave up her life to save you in the battle with the panther leader" Koga growled.

"You have two sides Inuyasha your kind side and your idiot side if you showed your kind side more you wouldn't be getting into arguments all the time" I said I turned away and started walking towards the north "Yuzuki wait, where are you going?" Shippo asked "To the fire demons, I have to expand my power" I replied. "You'll get yourself killed" Inuyasha growled "Why should you care? Either shut up and come with me or go play hide and seek with Naraku" I snapped as I continued to walk Sango and Kagome caught up to me and came to either side of me. Shippo clung off Kagome's shoulder while Kirara was in Sango's arms, Koga, Ginta, Hakkaku and Miroku walked behind us and Inuyasha behind them, I tried to push aside my past and concentrate on the present and more so I couldn't have anyone worry over me this is my chance to prove myself. We walked through for a few hours Kagome, Sango and Shippo were riding on Kirara so they could have a sleep, everyone looked half asleep except for Inuyasha and Koga they seemed to be wide awake "We should take a break till morning" I said.

"So you're tired now?" Inuyasha said "I'm thinking of everyone else not myself" I said and went to Kirara and helped get Sango, Kagome Shippo off her and laid them down beside each other Kirara curled around them to keep the cool breeze off them. Miroku was slouched against a tree, Inuyasha leaned against a log nearby, Hakkaku and Ginta were sitting against the same tree and Koga was lying on the ground, I sat against the other side of Kirara letting the cool breeze hit me. I was asleep within seconds, I woke up what felt like minutes later to see the first rays of light peek above the trees Kirara purred I looked to her and stroked her fur "Kirara will spar with me before everyone wakes up?" I asked she gave a nod. "Thanks Kirara" I said and hoped up, Kirara stood up carefully so she wouldn't wake the others and we walked off towards a spacious area I picked up a couple good length sticks just to practice with there was no way I'd draw my katana on Kirara I would never hurt her or anyone else intentionally.

"Alright Kirara you wanna start first?" I asked she growled and lunged at me "Hah!" I puffed as I went to strike her Kirara dodged I turned around to get pinned by Kirara "Urgh!" I grunted as I hit the ground I sighed heavily. Kirara hoped off and sat down next to me as I sat up she looked at me "I can't concentrate… What good can I do against the fire demon if I can't even do a practice fight with you" I groaned Kirara nudged me and gave a saddening growl "Sorry Kirara I shouldn't be so negative but my past wasn't like Inuyasha's past" I said. I leaned against Kirara "I know I don't know him as well as everyone else but he doesn't get the bond of wolf demons, we are all brethren we're family…" I said softly Kirara gave a soft growl and cuddled against me. "I wish I could tell everyone but I just can't not yet, I have to keep my promise and help defeat Naraku, I can't even tell my family Kirara, I'm a disgrace to wolf demons…" I said trying to hold back my tears "Disgrace how?" Sango asked.

I looked back to just see Sango standing there "It's ok no one else is up yet, can I sit with you?" Sango asked I gave a nod Kirara got up went back to the camp site while Sango sat by me "I'm sorry about yesterday…" I said. "Yuzuki I want you to know that I would never tell anyone your secret but I think talking about it may relieve some tension and you may be able to focus better on your fight" Sango said I frowned as I looked away "Sango… You know wolf demons have strong connections and we all act like family" I said. "Yes of course, when we saw how Koga reacted when Naraku set the trap for comrades that Kagura slaughtered" Sango said I looked to her with tears ready to fall "Yuzuki…" Sango gasped I looked to the ground "It was the night my mother was killed, she told me to run and I did but these wolf demons got me and beat me… I couldn't stop myself…" I said as the tears fell. "Oh Yuzuki... You can't blame yourself" Sango said "It was my fault! I'm a horrible person!" I exclaimed "You're not Yuzuki, I understand some of this and I know that even though you killed some of your brethren you couldn't control what you did, you never wanted to hurt them" Sango said.

"Still it doesn't change what I've done Sango, how can bare to still be near me?" I said Sango looked away "My little brother, Kohaku was controlled by a demon and he couldn't control himself… He killed our father and a few of our comrades… I know he didn't want to but he couldn't help it so I have some understanding of what you may be going through" Sango said tearing up. I wiped my tears away and hugged her "I'm sorry Sango…" I said softly "It's ok… Are you going to be ok?" Sango asked I separated from her "I can't change the past but I'm lacking concentration… I can't help but focus on the past" I said. "Yuzuki I promise this will stay between us so don't worry too much, how about we practice to take our minds of things even if it is just for the next few minutes" Sango said I gave a slight smile "Ok just go easy I'm not that good on concentration at the moment" I said Sango chuckled "That doesn't sound like the brave Yuzuki I know" Sango said as she stood up and picked the two sticks up passing one to me. Sango smiled "Come on Yuzuki show me how good you are" Sango said tauntingly I raised a brow "Alright you asked for it" I said and ran at her swinging my stick she blocked and kicked me away "Come on Yuzuki stop thinking about the past and just fight in the moment!" Sango exclaimed.
