Davis Manor
Night of Lin and Madoka's rehearsal dinner
A few days had passed since the Tuesday morning breakfast fiasco. Since that day Mai hasn't left her room. All meals were sent directly to her. Martin and Luella had brought up all her mother research and documents. Even two of the grimoire's her mother had in her possession. Madoka only went in a few times to discuss the wedding. The door remained locked at all times. And ignore anyone trying to gain access. Naru who's room is a few doors down would hear her talking to likely Katerlina whenever he walked by. Sometimes he would her cries or shouts of frustration.
He sighed as he tied the light blue tie around his neck. Madoka was very prescient on everyone in the wedding party to wear light blue. Tossing his black tux jacket over his white dress shirt. He grabbed his phone and watch and exited his bedroom. Glancing at Mai's door, he knocked twice
"Mai" he waited. No answer, he listened for the shower in case she was currently unavailable "Mai, are you dressed? The guest are arriving" still no answer. Rolling his eyes, be proceeded down the hall and the grand staircase. Awaiting at the bottom was the SPR gang with the future Mr. and Mrs.
"Did she answer?" Madoka asked, nervous that one of her bridesmaids won't be attending. Ayako, also clad in a light blue dress spoke
"I don't think she would ruin your weekend. I'm sure she will come" Lin wrapped his hand around Madoka's waist
"Give her some time." Madoka looked to the upstairs once more and nodded "Let's go greet the guest outside" Lin pushed her forward. Monk grabbed Ayako's hand and followed the bride and groom. Yasu and John following suit. Masako stayed behind with Naru, who checked his phone after sending a text to Mai.
"Oliver" Naru finally looked towards the girl. Dressed in a black floor lengthen gown, a single slit going up the left side, stopping a little past her knee. "You have to go meet your parents for the introduction. Did you want me to join you?"
"No" walking past the girl he went to find his parents.
Mai sat on the chair on her balcony watching all of Madoka and Lin's family and friends fill the gardens. Fairy lights filled the estate, lightening a romantic atmosphere. Waiters busy around serving champagne and small finger foods. A buzz of laughter and chatter filled the silent void. She heard and ignored Naru at the door moments ago. And the ding of her phone, from the same man. Mai had just watched as Ayako, Monk, John, and Yasu walk out and down the flower and candlelit staircase to the outside patio where the rest of the crowd gathers and scattered throughout. Masako coming after a few seconds later with an annoyed look upon her face.
"You should start getting ready" Katerlina who has been with her nonstop the last few days spoke up
"I know" Mai, not moving from her spot watched from afar. Robbing the remaining lotion into her legs.
"They are not the enemy Mai" Kat sighed as she watched Mai get up and close the balcony doors
"I never said they were" taking off her oversized sweatshirt, and putting on a nude strapless bra
"You have been ignoring them since Tuesday" handing Mai the one shoulder light blue dress. Mai shimmied it on
"I just haven't been in the mode" adjusting the sleeve on her right shoulder and flatting the wrinkles of the form-fitting skirt
"Do women in these times wear undergarments out in public?" Katerlina asked astonished by the short tight dress the girl worse before her. Mai laughed
"No, trust me. Undergarments these days are like nonexistent compared to yours" Mai sat on her bed, getting her nude heels on, adjusting her toes so they are comfortable in the peephole of the shoe.
"I can tell. I have seen your collection over the past couple of days. Blasphemy" Mai rolled her eyes and smiled. She quickly turned her curling iron on, brushing her hair and placing it in a messy bun high on her head
"What is that?" Kat watched as Mai tested the heat of the iron before taking a few stands out of the bun and curling them lightly framing her already makeup done face
"A curling iron. It curls your hair if you don't have it naturally." Mai answered, grabbing her nude lipstick and reapplying
"But you do have naturally curly hair?" Kat was very confused
"Not at this length, I have nice waves but when it gets longer I'll have my ringlets back" Mai grabbed her fluffy faux lashes and quickly put them on accentuating her winged eyes.
"What on earth did you just do?" Kat was very amazed by Mai's beauty routine
"Uh faux lashes" Mai trying to explain the reasoning behind them "They are hair that girls these days glue to their eyeballs to make them more attractive to the opposite sex...or the same sex"
"Huh" Kat started going through the makeup on the counter and asking questions as Mai did some last minute touch-ups
"Well as much as I enjoy being your makeup guru, I need to be surrounded by a bunch of people I don't know" Mai flashed Kat a fake smile. Looking into the mirror one last time and exited the room
"Have fun!" Kat yelled towards her
"I won't!" Mai said back as she closed her door. Uneasy about being out of the room she's been held up in the last three days. Giving herself a pep talk she made her way towards the back. Hurrying not to miss the entrance of Madoka and Lin.
Mai, having no idea where to go following an older couple to the location at the back of the house. Finally, atop the stone garden stairs she saw how beautiful everything looked under the natural moon light and fake fairy lights. Even the fountain was a warm glow to it. Soft music played.
"Champagne miss?" a waiter came to her and held out a try of gold liqueur
"Why not" Mai took a glass "Thank you" sipping it lightly she cringed at the taste. Making her way down the staircase
"Mai!" a women yelled. Trying to find the face to the voice, a women dressed in the same color with dazzling red hair approached
"Hey Ayako" she gave the women a quick hug "Where are the others?"
"Never mind the others, I have been worried about you. We all have" looking at the glass in the young girls hand "What is that?"
"Um, champagne?" forgetting what the waiter had said "And I've been fine. I just need to take a moment alone" Looking at the girl Ayako sighed
"One glass. That's all" Ayako firmly said, giving Mai a motherly look
"Yes, Ayako" Mai laughed and followed her to the rest of the gang. Masako not speaking a word and glaring. She gave hug to each of the guys, dressed in tux's. Monk squished her against him, crying that he missed his Mai. A loud tap rung out across the garden. Silence rapidly followed. Mai and the others looked to the garden stairs when a gentlemen stood with a large metal stick. With the clearing of his throat h,e spoke
"Welcome all to the Davis Manor. I greatly present the host's of the evening The Most Honorable Marquess of Salisbury Martin and Luella Davis and their son Lord Oliver James" Mai spit her drink out.
"WHAT!" the rest of the group proclaimed. Astonished by the hidden news of the Davis title. Monk and Yasu looked like they were about to faint. John trying to hold up the college student.
"Stop acting like fools," Masako said rolling her eyes "Embarrassing"
Mai watched as her godparents walked out the double door arms linked. Naru following right behind. "Thank you all for coming" Martin started "Please welcome the happy couple, future Mr. and Mrs. Koujo Lin" Martin, Luella and Naru stepped aside and clapped with the rest of the party guest as Lin and Madoka walked out. Madoka glowing in a short flowing white dress, Lin in a standard black tux with a light blue tie. They smiled and waved to the crowd. Making their way down to the patio, the Davis right behind. Mai watched with longing eyes at her boss, remembering the intimate encounter they had in this very garden. A waiter walking by stopped short as Mai grabbed another glass of champagne.
"Thanks," she said. Ayako watching, saying nothing to the girl who has been through so much in a short time period. Downing the flute in a heartbeat
"Mai, easy" Ayako chuckled. Mai blushed
"S-sorry. I know you said just one" looking for another waiter to dump the empty glass. "I just need to get out of my head for a bit"
"Alcohol isn't the way" Ayako tried to advise the girl. Monk draped an arm around his girlfriend
"Can you believe our Naru is a freaking LORD!" He laughed and hiccuped. Clearly intoxicated
"Yes dear. Very surprising" she patted his hand, gave Mai a look a guilt
"Its okay. Go take care of him" Mai ruffled Monks hair a good sign. Ayako looked at her once more
"Please, Mai. No more" Mai waved her hand and started to walk away
"I'm going to find our dark lord" she winked at the red head and giggling mess of Monk
"May I interrupt my Lord" Mai said smooth and dreamy to the teen who had his back turned speaking with an older gentlemen. He turned at the sound of her voice, cold eyes as always but a look of bewilderment shown
"Mai" shocked to see the girl. "Excuse me sir," he said to the man, shaking his hand goodbye he finally gave Mai his full attention
"Surprised?" Mai smiled while taking another sip of her third drink that evening "I know I was. Lord Oliver James" she purred
"Mai, how much have you had to drink?" not impressed by his assistant's actions
"Three. If you must know" she hiccuped. Naru rolled his eyes, taking the almost finished glass from her.
"You are going to make a fool of yourself if you keep this up"
"Like you made a fool of me the other day" another hiccup "Holding me close, looking into my eyes, being all...flirtatious" she placed her hand on his arm, running it down "Did you ever think of how that made me felt."
"Does being close to me-" he grabbed her hand and pulled her closer to himself "make you feel uncomfortable?" He said lowly. A deep red blush rose on her cheeks, butterflies making their return
"N-no" she wanted him. In that moment, in front of everyone. The way he made her insides melt with just a single touch. He leaded down not by much due to the heels, and like silk whispered into her ear
"You look beautiful tonight" her heart was skipping beats, she couldn't tell if she was hot due to him or the amount of alcohol in her system. The way his accent sounded when he spoke those words made her knees weak
"O-Oliver" she stumbled. Forgetting the world around her, forgetting that her brain was screaming no. This isn't the man she knows. Standing here teasing her with sultry words laced in pure sex wasn't her boss. It was another man completely...and she desired him. He pulled back and shot her a sly grin
"No more alcohol tonight" he left her cold and angry. How could he tease her like this. Angry tears rose up. Fanning them away before they ruined her makeup. Mai went back and attended the dinner as if nothing had happened. But that was all she could think about. And so she drank those feelings of the hurt away.
Its been a couple hours since the dinner had ended. Mai left before her guardian's could find her. The house was silent as everyone was asleep. Anticipating the big wedding tomorrow evening. Mai could not sleep. She laid awake in an over sized light pink knitted sweatshirt. Still hiccuping from the large amount of alcohol she had and will deeply regret in the morning to come. All she could think of was Naru and how he made her feel. Emotionally and physically. The more she though about what he had done to her twice now, infuriated her. She huffed and staggered out of bed. Stumbling in the dark room, finally gained balance with out stretched arms
"I'm going to give him a piece of my mind" she opened her door, leading out to the dimly lit hallway. Keeping balance against the opposite wall she stumbled to Naru's bedroom door. And knocked...more like pounded
"Open the freaking door you big headed narcissist!" she yelled. Pounded again "Nar-"
"What the hell do you think you are doing!" he swung open his door and hissed at her. Mai was taken back by his appearance. In the luminescence of the hallway light his bear chest made her drool a little. Naru was toned and muscled. Abs was all she saw, then she trailed south, hanging low on his hips were lounge pants, dark blue to complement his eyes. And two fine lines disappearing at the hem line. She reached her hand out to trace the muscle. Naru grabbed her and drug her into his room. Closing the door softly behind him
"Do you have any idea what time it is" scolding her. She only hiccuped as a response, "You clearly do not listen. I pacifically said no more drinking"
"W-what are you going to do about it?" she antagonized him "Punish me?" she licked her lips and moved closer.
"Knock this off Mai." she rolled her eyes
"Why. Why did you have to do it?" Naru walked to his bed and sat down, head between his hands, evidently not fully awake to deal with her "I'm talking to you!"
"Mai, can we will talk in the morning when you are sobber" he tiredly said
"No" she walked to him. Unexpectedly pushed him flat on his back, climbed on top and straddled him
"Mai what the hell!" he was startled by the intoxicated girls action
"I'm tired of talking. What you have done to me is unfair!" tears formed in the corners of her eyes "I tell you that I love you and you deny me. Then do this shit!" she wiped them away "W-why?"
Looking at the girl on top of him, he grabbed her waist and flipped her over. The sweatshirt rising with the movement, exposing the white lace she wore.
"Oliver" she panted. A low rumble escaped his throat. Her eyes wide with surprise and lust. He placed a hand to her cheek and came in close, lips almost touching
"Say it again" He felt her breath hitch, but not a sound came from her parted lips. Naru looked up, amused to see the girl passed out from intoxication. He placed his forehead on her rising chest and chuckled to himself. Covering the sleeping beauty he laid next to her.
