AN: Welcome again. I am mostly free of my tests (have one to do since I failed to reach the minimum required on the last test I did for a specific subject), which means I am more or less free to write. This may be my last chapter before Christmas and even New Year, so, in case I do not upload a new one before then, then Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year! I've realized I've been working on this story for two and a half years, though I started updating it to FF a little later than that. Still, I am very grateful for every one of you that has been with me reading How To Let It Go, for those that also sent me PMs, and for those that also reviewed it, thus helping me make a better story, and become a better writer. Thank you all!

Review response:

Guest: She may figure out this sooner than you expect. Also I appreciate if you use a idname next you review! Hope you enjoy this chapter

Agentweapon Proelium-Tempus: I'm glad you liked the way I'm portraying her. I always saw her as someone very reational and pragmatic, so it felt natural that she'd try to rationalize her feelings for Hiccup. As for Idun there is little to work on, but I hope I am being just with her. Her father will soon start appearing more often too. I hope you enjoy his dynamic with him too.

thearizona: I assume that the 'he' you mention is the dragon? If so you're certainly right (though the dragon could also be a she :P). I hope you'll enjoy how this plays out

The-real-dragon-rider: You pretty much nailed it. As someone that had little experiences with both love and people Elsa doesn't know how to deal with her feelings regarding Hiccup, or even what she is feeling.

LunarCatNinja: Some of this confusion will go away, but not completely. I hope you'll enjoy how her conversation with her mother will end up.

mc arno: They may become a couple. They may not. All that we know is that it all depends on Elsa losing her fear of touching others.

KE12: As a fellow person studying engineering you could say that I am (never mind the bazillion pages of science, serious and meme alike, that I follow on Facebook). I know the feeling, as Advanced Physics can't simply get inside my mind, even though I find fascinating that with it you learn the basic knowledge of how all those gears inside a car work. And well, they do say (they do?) that the best way to learn is through trial and error. Adding science is also my way of making this crossover more ground-based. As you may have noticed I want a more realistic take on the Frozen universe, which doesn't include only showing people's bad side. I feel very honored that you'd have, if you could, based your Idun on mine. Nevertheless don't feel that your work is any less great than mine; you're a great writer as well, if not better than me. As for seeing them meet again, that may take a while (yes I know I can be mean :P). Hope you'll enjoy this chapter.

Noctus Fury: There will certainly be more. I hope you'll enjoy too when she finally meets our little Viking. I'm glad that you liked my work so much that you read it again. In fact, I have already written some bits of How To Become a Dragon Master. If you wish so, you could become my beta and not only help me find mistakes but also give me ideas to use.

Sparta1007: I feel pretty much the same. My biggest focus on writing this one was on actually building a relationship from ground zero. I enjoy all the other stories as well, but sometimes I think people are afraid of doing this for fear of making their story boring. As a great writer (R2-M0) showed me with this work there is a way to make a great story without deceiving characters and impending wars or evil magic users. At least to me.

DISCLAIMER: It has been brought to my attention that Nightflight resembles Wintergale from the crossover 'Ice Fury'. It is true that they are similar; I realized that when I read that story. However she is not based on Wintergale, nor it was intentional that they would be similar. The core of this chapter, as well as the future ones, were written more than a year ago, and months before I even started reading Ice Fury. I apologize for any inconvenience this may have brought to any of you. If anything I'd say Windwalker resembles more Wintergale since he is the one that breathes ice. Nightflight breathes fire just like Toothless.

Without further ado:

"Is there…" she began hesitantly, "is there any other kind of love, besides these two you spoke of?" She asked while glancing at her gloved hands.

Idun felt even more puzzled than before. Elsa was clearly seeking a different explanation for something. She made a mental note to discuss with Agdar this. She had a hunch that her question, and her indisposition the day before was related to it. But for the moment she focused on her daughter's question "Another kind of love…?" she muttered while tapping her chin in thought. "As a matter of fact, I believe there is…" she answered. "Some might argue that this isn't love, but I disagree with them. It is a feeling too strong to be considered a mere comradeship, camaraderie. I believe there is another love: a friend's love…" she added.

Elsa waited, a surprising spark of hope blooming in her otherwise gloomy eyes. If she didn't value Hiccup like family, or a lover, perhaps this mysterious third type of love was the answer. And she needed an answer, because the chaos and confusion of her thoughts was hard to bear at times. "What's that like?" She asked, almost letting her eagerness to understand her feelings escape through her voice.

There was another long pause; Idun trying to find the words to describe a friend. "It is… a less tumultuous love. It is contentment. You have the freedom to be yourself around them, with no fear of judgement. They support your decisions, they respect your flaws. They lead you to another world, where your problems seem smaller, and where you can belong. And the love of a friend weathers time. They create joy in you, even when you feel as though you can't experience it. They can't always change the world for you." Idun smiled at her daughter. "But they can change you."

"In a way, a friend's love is a less intense romantic love coupled with a more intense family love. You ache for their absence as much as you ache for your lover's, but it doesn't really ache. It's a bit hard to explain. Their happiness is your happiness, and you would do everything and beyond to make them happy. Yet you two still are two different beings, and your friend does not complete you the way a lover does."

"Loving a friend isn't as much as finding a part of you that you didn't know it existed, but rather enhancing what you have in common with your friend. You think of them, but not as often as you do with a lover, and you'd risk your life for them because you know they would do the same."

"The world doesn't change, but you find hard to go back to how things were without the friend you love." Idun finished. It was how she felt about Primrose, even though she was her sister-in-law, which meant she was family.

But to Idun, she was much more than simply family. She was a friend to confine with, someone that understood her fears. She was aware of Elsa's power, as much as Idun herself was aware of the magical flower that was used to heal Prim. Agdar's sister understood her fears, and her anguish regarding Elsa's isolation and powers.

More than just in one way Queen Primrose of Corona was the sister that she, Queen Idun of Arendelle, never had.

Elsa was nodding, a slow smile curling the corners of her mouth. That made sense. Hiccup was a gateway to freedom. He did make a difference in how she felt; she sought his company, which was something she did not do with other people. She wanted to spend time around, to ease the loneliness of her life.

"Does that answer your question?" Idun asked, seeing the now satisfied smile on Elsa's face as she escaped her inner thoughts.

"Yes." Elsa answered simply and shortly, but looked far more relaxed, as though a massive problem had suddenly been resolved. "I think it does."

"So, would you like to study some Geometry today?" Idun asked, knowing that this was Elsa's favourite subject. She felt that she shouldn't pry on why the sudden interrogation about love, but rather enjoy Elsa's good mood. And by the way her daughter's eyes lit up in excitement, albeit contained, was more than enough to put Idun's doubts aside.

She would speak later with Agdar about it, and maybe even sent a letter to Primrose. Maybe if Elsa met her aunt she would open up a bit more. It has been, after all, nearly a decade since the Coronian visited her family. Idun could understand, though. Even after all these years she knew that Prim hasn't recovered from her daughter's kidnapping, and visiting her nieces would only enhance the dormant, constant pain.

Elsa finally knew how she felt about Hiccup, but she knew that it wasn't all. She didn't trust him completely, and she felt that he knew that, therefore withholding his trust as well. He became an innate part of her, as if it always had been. Her new struggle, now, was if he would ever know about her powers, therefore completely knowing her and earning her trust.

After all, she loved Anna too, in a different way, but couldn't tell her sister about her powers. Hiccup was a different situation. He met her, could see her, and came from a tribe of Vikings waging war against dragons, unlike Anna. And yet she still felt the familiar fear of her powers. Whether she should let him know that she had these powers or not was a matter she would have to carefully think.

But not now; this moment all Elsa needed to focus was on her Geometry lessons.

Hiccup, Windwalker and Toothless quietly walked as they scanned the area. As soon as they had left the cave Windwalker alerted him that there were hunters near their position, therefore scaring the dragon further into the East Mountain, where it already had snowed. Hiccup had to stiff a groan that had threatened to come out of his throat when he realized that this would give a camouflage advantage to the mysterious white dragon.

But then again, so it would give to Windwalker.

They walked toward where Hiccup believed that the roar from the night before had originated. Because of the snow, neither of the Furies could track the dragon's scent, and because of the clear sky, somehow an oddity after the last night's snowing, they couldn't take off to scan the area.

Even though if they could it would be mostly useless. The dragon would be well hidden within the snow. Hiccup knew the dragon was extremely smart, otherwise he wouldn't have been able to come this far. However he could only hope that no more dragons would leave the Archipelago, especially toward Arendelle. That would seriously risk his stay in the small kingdom.

A roar startled him out of thoughts while, at the same time, instantly putting both Toothless and Windwalker on alert. 'It sounds like that our little friend is in trouble,' Windwalker pointed out. 'We may come across an injured dragon, which means it'll be even more wary of us,' he added, emphasizing the word 'wary' so Hiccup would understand what he meant.

And sadly he did. Windwalker was telling him that a peaceful outcome was even less likely to happen.

"Windwalker… go to our left and keep following us. I think that if it sees just me and Toothless it won't be as wary as if it sees you as well. Not only that but you'd be able to flank the dragon and protect us, should it react violently to our presence," Hiccup suggested, feeling a dreadful uneasiness settle on the bottom of his stomach.

His new plan would potentially increase Windwalker's chances of injuring the dragon, but significantly decrease the chances of the dragon being too injured because of a fight, or of having to die by Hiccup's sword. He didn't like being between a rock and a hard place, but he would risk injury if it meant preserving the dragon's life.

He lifted his scarf and brought up his hood, thus concealing his whole face. He couldn't risk accidentally bumping on a hunter, and even less being spotted by one. At least, with his face concealed, the chances of being recognized afterwards would be almost non-existent.

This is, if the person doesn't remember his attire.

"Bud, keep close to me. You stand out too much in the white snow, so I'm afraid you'll be spotted by either the dragon or a hunter. If you're close to me I'll be more aware of where you could be spotted, therefore I'll be able to better hide us," he whispered when he noticed Toothless slowly walking ahead of him.

The Night Fury nodded, and was almost glued on his rider within a second. Hiccup smiled behind his scarf before resuming their search for the lost dragon. It wasn't hard for Toothless to stay near him, as the trees were staring to spread out across the field. The dense forest they had been was giving way to a clearing right before the Mountain's peak.

They slowly entered a clearing filled with snow. Both dragon and human looked around in wonder as a heavenly sight reached their eyes. The sky was blue and, even though the sun shined above them, it was cold. The snow was soft as a pillow, and seemed to shine. It almost looked like that the place had an aura, and that it was shining through the snow.

Hiccup's amazement was cut short when a growl reached his ears, and the sound was too loud for his comfort. His eyes instantly darted to his left where, from underneath a small pile of snow, a white dragon had risen from. It eerily had a body build identical to Toothless'; the only main difference being its silver eyes and white color.

He barely had the time to rise his hands in a surrendering way when the dragon lunged at him. Toothless was too caught off to react to the dragon's attack, and could only stare, just like Hiccup, as the boy was about to be mauled by the white dragon.

But, before either of them could understand what happened, Windwalker was already on top of the dragon, which was deeply bleeding from a gash in its chest caused by Windwalker. He had leapt in as soon as he heard the dragon growling, and didn't think twice before striking its chest with his claws. The wound would most likely let the dragon live, but certainly would also heavily injure it as well.

Hiccup ran with a desperate face toward the dragon. The pouring blood was heavily contrasting against the white, shining snow. The dragon's breathing was shallow, and it could barely move even when Hiccup shoved Windwalker off from him. The white creature hissed when Hiccup approached his wound with his hands, but didn't move.

"Hey, it's okay, we aren't your enemies," Hiccup said with a soothing voice. "I'd say we don't want to hurt you but, because of someone, I don't think you'll believe me," he added while sending a half-hearted glare toward Windwalker. He was upset by his friend's action, but was also thankful for being saved yet again by Windwalker.

The dragon hissed, chirped, growled and purred as Hiccup treated its wound with some bandages he had on Toothless' satchels. As soon as he was finished he stole a glance at his dark friend, only to find the Night Fury staring with widened eyes at the white dragon.

'It's a she…' Windwalker said quietly as Toothless slowly approached the dragon, almost as if any quick action would make she vanish. 'Her name apparently is Nightflight-I find a bit ironic since she's white, even though she doesn't seem to reflect light as I do, yet her name suggests she flies in the darkness of the night-and…' He trailed off as his eyes slowly widened after Toothless chirped at him.

'She is Toothless' sister…'

Hiccup's mind started racing a million different thoughts while Toothless' chirps slowly changed to growls. The black dragon was as shocked as his rider, but started to suddenly feel angry at his cousin.

The cousin which almost killed his sister.

Hiccup's was torn between the white dragon, still bleeding but not as much, and Toothless and Windwalker, who were both growling at each other, looking more threateningly at every second past.

Hiccup started hyperventilating, not knowing what to do. The albino Night Fury, Nightflight ad he kept telling himself, needed a safe place for her injuries to be treated and healed properly, and a fight between the two male Furies would only cause massive destruction, and possibly endanger their stay in Arendelle.

"That's enough!" he yelled while gripping his head in pain and frustration. "I just found another member of your family, I almost got killed, I have a dragon to heal and I absolutely do not need to worry about you two fighting, much less worry if that fight will get us banished from Arendelle."

An eerie silence settled after his outburst. Hiccup was panting, looking livid and sorry while the two Furies looked at him shocked and apologetically. "Look, I have a lot in my mind. It would help if you two fighting didn't make to the list of the things I need to think about."

Neither dragons moved nor made a sound, but the way they hung low their heads indicated to Hiccup that they wouldn't start another fight anytime soon. "Good," he said with a sigh. "We'll have to bring her to our cave, until I know what to do."

"And I'll need the help of both of you."

007

After nearly ten minutes after the unfriendly meeting Hiccup had an idea how to bring the wounded dragon to the cave. He was silently hoping that it would be large enough to fit the four of them easily.

He had both dragons walking glued, side by side, with the wounded dragon lying on top of them. Due to the wound on her chest, the albino dragon was lying sideways, and both furies carefully stepped once at a time as to not disturb the injured creature.

Hiccup was walking ahead of them, but not too ahead so, if he saw a hunter lurking in the hoods, however unlikely that would be considering the snow, he would easily be able to warn then to hide.

Thankfully he found no other living beings, humans or animals, on their short trip to their cave. The ground was filled with snow, making walking hard and his feet shudder in cold, but it meant that few animals or people would dare to venture in the woods.

At that moment he was deeply thankful for the winter.

007

The cave thankfully fit the four of them without getting too crowded. Hiccup was, for almost a minute, silently thanking any god he could think of for this small streak of luck.

"Okay, you just have to rest there until I prepare some proper medicine. Toothless, keep an eye out for trouble, and Windwalker…" he hesitated for a moment, inwardly saddening said dragon.

"Take a rest. I wouldn't be alive if it weren't for you. Let me take care of the dragon now." His smile was genuine, and so was his gratitude. Albeit still saddened, Windwalker laid down, but without feeling a huge burden on his shoulders.

"I wonder why you came here… or, if you were around here for awhile, why we didn't see you before. I wonder if others followed you. I wonder how Toothless didn't know you existed." He sighed, "I wonder so many things and none of them can't be answered."

He looked back toward the cave entrance. A small campfire was lit on the center of the cave, casting a low light on all of its occupants. He could see Toothless, his faithful friend, guarding the entrance.

And past his friend, he could see the outside slowly darkening. He sighed again, this time with much more sadness burdening his heart than before. "I'm sorry Elsa. It won't be tonight that I'll see your lovely pacific blue eyes."

He missed the Princess, just as, unbeknownst to him, she missed him. She kept think of him whenever the absence of his warm smile's warmth reached her. And he missed the quietude he and only he had with her.

"The issue is over. I'll return to you, my Valhalla, don't worry," he whispered before looking at the wounded dragon. She looked curious, and tired. She had thought this boy imprisoned her kin, but now she could see how it was the very opposite: the boy had saved her kin, and protected them.

Something her family never did to her.

With closed eyes and quiet breathing she nudged him, briefly before falling asleep. He smiled, stroking her deep white scales. He still had to figure out what he would do to her. He couldn't stay longer away from Elsa, because he wanted her company, he ached for it.

A thought crossed his mind, and with it, Windwalker's ears perked up. 'Okay, what mad stupidity you're about to do?' The dragon asked, not even bothering to open his eyes.

"Oh, you'll see. Not today, but tomorrow. And it'll benefit all of us, including her."
