Richard entered the bank. The fire had been raging for a while and the civilians had been taken care of. Had he been living in Jump City he would have been here right after it started. He hated feeling like he was one step behind.

12 people had died from this, and 20 were in the hospital. Richard felt like this was blood on his hands. He went to the most charred part of the building where the fire started. He has a ball that was shiny, and unaffected by the mess around it. He hesitantly picked it up. As soon as he touched it a light emerged from it, forming a hologram, with Slade in his full armor of silver, black, and orange.

"Hello, Nightwing." He said softly, deadly.

"How do you know my name?" Richard growled back.

"I read the paper, Jump City has noticed your presence, and so have I. But doesn't someone miss you back home?" He mocked.

"What do you want from me?" Richard made a defensive pose.

"I haven't decided yet." Slade said, a snide grin coming through his mask. Richard growled. "Such a shame all of these people died on your watch, maybe next time you will be faster to help. But for now I will leave you knowing that this death is your fault."

"I wasn't the one who killed them Slade."

"Yes, but you didn't stop it." Slade's image fizzled out, leaving him alone.

Kori pulled into the manor after the sun had been down for hours. They labeled it as an attack but the cause of the explosion was unknown. Roy and Kori has been at the office when Nightwing came on the scene which was too late to help anyone. Kori wondered if Richard came back or was somewhere still searching for the culprit, although she thought she knew who started it.

She didn't even have to knock because by the time that she got to the door Alfred had the door open.

"Good evening, Alfred," she said with a tired smile. Before he could respond she heard yelling from another room. She couldn't identify the voice.

"Good evening Ms. Anders. Both are in the study. It has been an unpleasant evening. Hopefully you can bring some peace." He gave a sad smile as they walked through the foyer and into the study.

The men were standing on opposite sides of the room. Richard's hair was messy, his shirt untucked and a drink in his hand.

"This is my fault!" Richard yelled back, his hand running through his hair, messing is up even more. Bruce noticed Kori first, Richard was too busy glaring at him to notice anything else.

"I read your note," She said quietly to Bruce. She looked at Richard and his crazed face met hers.

"What do you think?" He asked softly. A tear slid from her face that she didn't know was ready to fall, and she nodded her head softly.

"What the hell is she crying for?" Richard yelled, his anger focused on Bruce.

"Richard, may I make the request that you stop yelling." Bruce said with a calm voice. Richard opened his mouth, to respond with something foul before Kori stepped closer to him.

"Richard, please." Kori whispered as she touched his arm tenderly, for the first time that she could remember his gaze didn't soften under her touch, but hardened.

"What, are you two a team now, just like you and Roy are a team." Richard spat at her, making her face change from calm to hurt.

"How dare you talk to her like that." Bruce said raising his voice.

"You're drunk." She said with a sad voice. "You don't know what you are talking about."

"Really? I saw you two today, and I know that you have been going out to lunch with him since I've been gone, and explain the texts that you to send." His voice was hard and his eyes glared at her.

"Out to lunch to prepare for our interviews today that got cancelled,"

"Because of Slade." He spat.

"And he would text me asking if I needed coffee, or to remind me about something." She said defensively.

"I get it, I leave to protect you, to willingly lay down my life for you, so as soon as I leave you can find someone new." He said right in her face. Kori didn't try control her tears from flowing now, because she couldn't.

"Richard." Bruce said loudly and firmly. "Are you that much of an idiot to say that to her. Are you that lost that you think this is acceptable to talk to her like that?"

"Why am I the only one who cares that innocent people died on my watch today!?" He answered, not answering the question. "You two aren't even phased that people lost their children, parents, spouses, friends!"

"Richard, of course we care." Kori whispered, not wiping away her tears. "This is devastating. Slade is evil, and I am so proud that you want to help." She choked through tears, "but we need you to calm down so we can talk about what needs to happen," but he interrupted her again.

"I know what is going to happen next." He said quietly and then took another drink. Bruce and Kori were silent waiting to hear what he was going to say. "I move to go to Jump City. Tonight. Slade made his first move, and after talking to him, I think he's only going to get worse. I can't miss another attack. I have to be there." He said. Kori took a deep inhale. "And I need to go alone."

"Alone?" Bruce asked quickly.

"Richard, I will go with you. I don't mind." Kori said with a clear voice.

"No. You would only be a distraction."

There was silence.

"A distraction." She echoed him with a whisper. Bruce stood silently while Richard stared at the floor.

"Slade knows about you, and it was foolish to think that we could stay together after that. If you were there I would only be worried about you, and I wouldn't be able to do my job."

Kori felt dizzy and her entire body felt a quick rush of heat as her breath accelerated and she heard her pulse pounding on her ears. She couldn't bring herself to talk. He took a step towards her, hesitated, and then walked up to her. He kissed her forehead. "Please, be safe." He whispered, and then walked out the door.
