Kori held her arms out to balance as the ground below her shook. She felt fear surge through her as she realized that the floor was about to collapse, and the people below her would be injured. She didn't know what to do, she looked at Rachel who seemed to be having the same thoughts. Without warning construction tumbled in the air and they fell. She heard Rachel cough near her, and she sounded safe. As she wiped the dust from her eyes she saw the rubble around her and her adrenaline spiked. She was just about to take in the mess when the sound of a motorcycle and car became very loud, very quickly. She had barely moved when Bat Man, Robin, and now Nightwing approached.

His speed quickened as he ran to her. She tried to open her mouth but it was dry from fear and remnants in the air. A crowd was gathering and people were crying as they approached a bigger destruction than she thought.

"If people see you here," she coughed, her throat burning with dirt, "they can find a pattern-" she couldn't finish her sentence because she was shaking from fear and pain, her legs were in agony and just started to hurt from the fall.

"That doesn't matter," his normally calm voice was hard to read but she didn't have the focus to listen. "I need to get you out of here." He pulled her hand, towards what, she didn't know.

"Ra- Rach- Rachel," she finally got out.

"Bat Man has her, she's fine." His hand was leading her through rubble. She wanted to look around and see where Rachel was, but she heard someone who lived down the hall from her crying.

"They, " she coughed more, " they have a baby. Save them first."

"I'm on it," Jason said in his Robin attire. "Get her safe, and get out of here, The Bat and I can handle this."

Kori was in too much shock to see Nightwing's hesitation. It went against what he believed in, leaving the scene where people were wounded. Kori groan of pain confirmed his choice.

" Send me an update on Rachel as soon as you get one." He said as he picked Kori up as everything faded to black for her.

Monitors beeped as Kori started to mentally wake up. Her mind was groggy and her eyes were still closed. She felt the haze slowly lift as her body went from numb to a dull ache. Before she opened her eyes she tried to take inventory of what she remembered last. She remembered Richard, and shaking, and-

"Rachel!" Her hoarse voice choked out as her eyes flew open, she tried to sit up when a strong hand gently pushed her down.

"She's perfectly fine, Bruce sent an update and made sure she got looked after, there's no harm, just a little bruised." Richard said gently. Kori's heart started to slow down as she looked around. She was in the medical wing of the Bat Cave, a place where she had never really spent time. "You're fine too. Miraculously." She noticed the wires attached to her and the computers monitoring her vitals.

"Then why-"

"I just wanted to make sure that you were stable. You took a hard fall. Plus, there are some drugs to help you with the pain."

Kori didn't grin on the outside, but his overprotectiveness made her heart feel fuller. While his constant watch had it's moments, she never doubted that he cared. She missed that feeling.

"My neighbors?" She asked.

" They are fine. The father protected the baby, he took a hard hit but the doctors fully expect a full recovery, the mother shielded herself. There were a few broken bones, but nothing fatal." He went back to sitting on a chair by her bed, by the looks of it and the surrounding items she had an aching question.

" How long was I out?"

"Not too long, about twelve hours, you needed rest."

They sat in silence. She heard a buzz. Richard rolled his eyes and groaned while picking up her phone which was on the table next to him. " It's Roy." His didn't try to hide his disgust. Fear surged through her.

" What have you told him, he can't know I'm in the Bat Cave, he must be so mad." She said quickly as she took it.

" I called him," Richard said, " I told him that I brought you here to be more comfortable and have someone waiting on your every need while receiving the best care possible. He didn't like that I told him the doctor thought it best you be left alone, but he hasn't tried to come."

Kori sent him a quick message saying that she was okay and would reach out soon. The topic of Roy was still a soft spot, so the silence remained. The door opened and the silence was broken was Jason ran in the room.

" You okay Kor?" He asked concerned as he sat on the edge of her bed. Bruce followed in.

" She's fine." Richard said.

"Great, now we can make a plan to take this guy down." Jason said with passion.

"What guy?" Kori asked as Richard's face grew red.

" Hasn't Richard filled you in?"

"I was waiting to spring that on her when I knew that she was better, before I needed to overwhelm her." He said through clenched teeth.

"Slade." Bruce said. All he had to say. Kori looked at Richard who didn't meet her gaze.

" How do you know?" She asked carefully.

"He sent a message." He was still avoiding her gaze. She was starting to lose patience and looked at Bruce.

" Was I the target?" She asked with a strong voice. Bruce made eye contact and nodded his head. She exhaled a long breath, trying to figure out how she felt.

"Dude made a huge mistake." Jason said.

"How do we know I was the target?" Bruce took a folded paper from his back pocket and handed it to her. She quickly opened it. Inside was a picture of her that looked like it was taken by a paparazzi. She wasn't looking at the camera, she was in a café leaning over her favorite drink smiling. It was an intimate picture and she immediately felt violated. Beneath the picture the words were "Your Move Nightwing- Slade". She kept looking over the picture, unsure what to say or do. " I'm not afraid," she said suddenly, " we have been in this situation before, we just need to be careful. I'll be careful, I won't go anywhere alone, or at night-"

"You should be afraid." Richard said, finally looking at her, his face seething. " He won't stop until he gets what he wants."

"Last year, he heard my voice, and I was fine." She shot back.

"Look at the picture Kori." He said matching her tone.

" I have, so what."

"LOOK at it. When was that taken?"

She begrudgingly looked it over and almost gave up until she noticed a small number in the corner. It was from a few months ago, which meant that Richard was in Jump City. She felt her whole body go cold.

" Who knows how many pictures he has, or how long he has been following you." Richard said standing up. "He's a maniac."

"We need to come up with a plan, and quick." Bruce said quietly.
