Ashura was not all to surprised when three of his court magicians showed up in his office, it tended to happen now that Fai was attending meetings and group practices. All three of the men before him were appointed to teach Fai in one way or another, Tsubaki was to teach Fai about potions and poisons, Ritsuka was supposed to be teaching Fai about physical attack and defense spells, and Yoshio was supposed to be teaching the blonde about mental attack and defense spells.

"Please tell me that he didn't knock down the entire west wall again…" the king sighed not even bothering to look up from his paper work. In the five months the rambunctious blonde had been taking magic lessons he has made a lot of progress, and caused a LOT of damage.

Not that Ashura minded, he had caused his own father quite a few headaches when it came to repair bills when he was just a fledgling mage.

"No, your majesty, thankfully not." Tsubaki, holding the highest rank in the court of the three of them, was much more accustomed to dealing with the king directly, and usually gave the reports on how training was going.

"And he didn't accidently open another portal to god only knows where? No more servants got sucked in right?" That had been a headache in a half…

"Ah, no." all three of the mages grimaced in remembrance of having to explain to Ashura that there was a black hole in the Courts Mages privet indoor training room that was sucking people inside.

"He has all of his fingers and toes still attached. Right." A threatening edge took to Ashura's voice as he set his pen down and looked at the men before him.

"Lord Fai is in perfect health."

"Then what on earth is the matter?"

"You see your majesty, I'm not sure I can really explain. Perhaps it would be best to just come see for yourself." Tsubaki bowed and the other two mimicked him. "He is in the new training room." (The old one had to be permanently sealed off because the portal could not be collapsed.)

"Alright then." Ashura stood from his desk and wasted no time in transporting himself. He wouldn't be surprised if Fai had had another panic attack and was—

Ashura was astounded by what he saw.

Fai was sitting on the floor in front of a beautiful woman with long platinum blonde hair, the same color as Fai, her skin was had the same flawless porcelain look to it as well. Of course that wasn't the first thing Ashura noticed.

She was naked.

Not wearing anything but Fai's coat.

After that he noticed her beauty, and finally that she wasn't human.

Were those… Cat eras?

Fai almost immediately noticed his presence and turned to face Ashura. Every other member of the Court Mages had been watching the pair in aw but snapped to attention when the king appeared. "Well Fai, who do we have here?"

"Chi"

The woman sitting behind Fai smiled and mimicked the noise. "Chi?"

"And how did Miss Chi get here exactly?" Ashur slid how own grate coat off and draped it around the woman's shoulders, fastening the front.

"I made her."

The king new that his adoptive son wasn't very good at talking in front of people still, but he was hoping for a bit more information than that.

"You made her?" that wasn't exactly possible to make people, no one had been able to even attempt to do such a thing. Magic didn't work that way.

At least… Ashura was pretty sure it didn't?

"With magic. I made her with magic my king." Fai blinked at him as if it was the simplest thing in the world.

Right.

"… So… why did you make Chi?"

"To watch over something." The king didn't even bother trying to find out what that something was. He knew that Fai would never outright lie to him, he would just not say anything and if confronted about it he would just stay silent.

Ok. Ashura could figure out the how and why later he supposed… Right now though he had to figure out what exactly they were going to do with their new… Family member.

"Well, that seems like a pretty good reason to me. I would like to formally welcome Miss Chi to Luvel castle."

Ashura wasn't too surprised when he passed a window to find Fai and Chi playing in the garden. Chi had almost no knowledge of anything, and she had to be taught how to speak, dress, bathe, and act.

Fai was very good at talking her thought things but it was obvious that she was a little slow. She now knew how to say "Fai," "book," "my king," "please," "thank you," "I don't understand," and a few other fazes.

The toughest part about having her around was the fact that she distracted everyone.

News had travelled fast that there was a magically engineered being. Aside from the fact that she was pretty much the cutest girl Ashura had ever seen, and had kitty ears, she stuck out like a sore thumb.

Her blonde hair stood out, as did the fact that she would rather fly behind Fai then walk. Her outfits were quite eye catching as well, dressed up more like a baby doll then a proper lady.

Ashura watched as Fai instructed his creation on how the game of hide and seek worked. The king always found the games from Fai's county to be a bit odd, but it was really rather simple. Stepping on to the balcony so that he was able to hear what was being said, he couldn't help but smile.

"You have to count to ten, and then you go find the person who is hiding. Do you understand Chi?"

"Chi does not understand 'count to ten'"

"I forgot you don't know how to count yet… how about you just sing that sing the song I taught you?"

"Chi will sing song and then look for Fai?"

Fai nodded, seemingly excited at the prospect of having someone to play with.

Chi turned around and covered her eyes and started singing a song while Fai ran off quickly to go hide. Ashura smile widened at the obvious spot behind the tree his son chose, as soon as he was set he covered his mouth with both hands. When she finished singing she excitedly started to run around the garden in search of her master.

As soon as she found him she jumped on top of him, sending them both tumbling to the ground. For the first time since the blonde had arrived in Celese—he laughed.

Fai was extremely happy that he had a full time companion now. Ashura was very busy as king, and he could only study for so long every day. He hated being alone and now he never had to be because Chi was always there.

It was fun teaching her all sorts of things, playing with her since there weren't any children the castle, and having someone to walk him to the bathroom at night when King Ashura was still at meetings.

Like his king, she was not afraid or intimidated by him when he used magic. She didn't think that he was scary or strange at all. Chi even came with him when he visited his brother.

He had told her all about what had happened to he and Fai, the real Fai. About his mother who he said she looked like, about his father and how he couldn't remember his face, about his grandfather, about Valerie, about the tower, about the bodies, the smell, the cold, the loneliness, about how he and Fai used to sing to each other, and tell each other stories to help pass the incredibly long amounts of time.

He told her about how Fai had died, about why he took his brother's name, about the strange wizard who had given him the feathers, about the clone and the spy and the princess he was going to travel with one day, about how he had lied to Ashura and felt horrid about it, about how he was going to bring his twin back, and how they were all going to play together one day.

He told her everything because he knew that she wouldn't tell, and although she didn't understand 100% of what he said, he felt better knowing that he had told someone.

Today Fai had finished his lessons early and he and Chi were visiting his brother. As usual he sat by the pool and stared down at his once mirror image, letting his hand create ripples in the surface of the pool. Chi was also sitting by the side of the pool humming one of the songs he had taught her, the same one there mother used to hum when she put them to bed.

He wasn't sure why it relaxed him like it did, but it wasn't long before he was drifting asleep. Whenever he slept next to the sacred pool he never had bad dreams, he dreamed of he and his brother, the king and their mother living together in a place that was warm, with plenty of trees with pretty pink flowers all over them.

It was always the same dream, where everything was perfect and Ashura was really his father. His mother loved them and was happy they were here, Fai would call his name, his real name, and they would play under the trees while the king and his mother read quietly together. When the sun went down they would eat dinner together and—

"You'll catch a cold if you sleep here Fai." King Ashura was kneeling by his side smiling warmly as usual. "You looked awfully happy though."

"I was having a good dream." Fai sat up and rubbed his eye.

"Good dream good dream." Chi chimed in the background before going back to humming.

Ashura chuckle lightly before sitting next to him at the pools edge. "What was it about?"

The blonde took a moment to answer as if he was collecting his thoughts. "Do you think Chi is beautiful?" he said tucking his knees up to his chest and wrapped his arms around them.

"Yes, she is very beautiful. Why do you ask?"

"Have you ever been in love my king?"

"I was married once. She and my son died of the plague that swept through the country about ten years ago."

"Oh… I'm sorry…"

"It's quite all right. That happened a very long time ago."

"What did she look like?"

Ashura was hoping to meet Fai's eyes to see if he could possibly figure out what he was thinking. "…She had long black hair that she always wore up, and deep brown eyes."

"So she was beautiful?"

"Well… yes."

"As beautiful as Chi?" the blonde looked at Ashura with hopeful eyes.

"Fai, what are you trying to figure out? You can just ask me." The child's roundabout way of thinking was always hard to figure out.

"Did you know Chi looks like my mother?" Fai looked back at the pool.

"Then you had a very beautiful mother. Now I know where you get you good genes from."

"Not my eyes though…"

"I think they suit you well." Fai remained silent for a few minutes before he looked at Ashura and gave him an almost smile. Whatever he had figured out in that conversation seemed to brighten his mood "You're not going to tell you about you dream then?"
